We went on a terrible rainy day during Whitsun School holidays. This meant some outdoor activities were not available (but there was an option to come back when it's dry). However, the activities that were running made for a great day. The Sheep show with the different breeds was interesting and very funny for little kids and adults (listen out for why Bob the sheep is called Bob). Same goes for the Duck Trials. The barn had the stars of the sheep show and many other animals to feed and pet. It's definitely worth buying bags of animal food. The indoor play area with slides and soft play, etc. was perfect for our grandson. I expected to be fleeced by the price of food (fleeced, get it),but I wasn't. It was good and reasonably priced. This is great for a rainy day. I would imagine it would still be great for a dry day too.
My 4yr old loved it and so did the adults. The indoor playroom and feeding the lambs were the biggest hits but the bouncy pillows and train ride get a good shout out too
Absolutely superb place. Brilliant attractions and the animals are great. Ideal for families. The food and facilities are great. WiFi available. Free parking. One real g is the staff. Everyone we spoke to was enthusiastic and helpful. We really felt like they enjoyed it as much as we did. Recommended!
Brilliant day out and something for all the family as long as you like sheep, rides, and having fun. We went in half term, but it wasn't too busy. We never had to wait too long for the rides, riding the rollacosta 5 times in a row, and we always got good seats for the shows, which were very entertaining for the kids and adults. I would say it's great value for money as we were there all day. Cafe food wasn't the best but the service was great and the tables were clean etc. There are lots of picnic tables around so you could always take your own food.
Our family had the most enjoyable and hilarious time here today. This represents, in my opinion, one of the best value days out around. John was incredibly entertaining during Rams on Parade, the Duck Trials and the sheep race, and we also really enjoyed feeding the lambs. The rides are all free, which we did not expect, and we went on the rollercoaster 3 times. The cafe is lovely and the play equipment was really fun for our daughter too. There were also some lovely things which we bought in the shop. Could not recommend this more!
We’d always come up to Devon from East Sussex to visit my great grandparents who’d always take us to the big sheep. One of my best childhood memories is visiting this place. Unfortunately my grandparents passed in 2019&2020, so I hadn’t visited this place in years, the last time I visited was when I was around 14? I’m now 22 and have come up to Devon with my partner and son and we re visited the big sheep yesterday ( October 18th ). We had the best time! It was nice to see that not much has changed, it made me feel like a kid again! This place is just amazing, there’s so much to do and there’s always entertainment on! The animals are just so sweet and we really enjoyed feeding them in the barn! The staff are always so lovely and welcoming too. We fed some lambs which was an amazing experience & the man who hosted the lamb feeding was the same man I had a picture with back in 2013 when I was little! I’m unsure of his name but he had a great sense of humour and was overall really lovely! I’m looking forward to bringing my son here every year so Devon & the big sheep can be a big part of his childhood too❤️
Visited here when we were on holiday in the area and what a fantastic place it is! So much to do for the whole family to enjoy. We especially enjoyed the sheep show & seeing the baby lambs! Really clean facilities. We will definitely return when we are in the area.
Great family fun, took my kids there when they were younger but my 15 year old decided she wanted to go again and still loved it! Good when the weather is inclement too as plenty to do indoors.

Big expanse of beach when the tide is out, very popular for walking the dogs on, lots of benches along the front, can imagine it being popular in the summer with the restaurants across from it, but it was cold and windy when we were here, still plenty of people about though.
Lovely and quiet, dog friendly beach. Beautiful views and mobile pizza van during the evenings. Nice little place.
Beautiful and long beach! Just be aware of tidal times as sea can come next to you very quickly
Lovely beach, very dog friendly and loads of parking (and toilets in the car parks)
A very popular beach due to the fact when the tide is out, its very large. The nearest car park I used was Sandhills car park, postcode EX39 4LF. Its right next to the beach. Its pay and display. Pub nearby. The beach is easy to walk on being relatively flat. Very popular with dog walkers. It faces West so great to see the sunset from. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.
Amazing went at around 6:50 - 7:00 in the morning amazing bunch of people stunning sun 🌅
This beach was clean and is a lovely place to go for a peaceful walk. There is an ice van on the beach and also a pizza van in the evenings. The only downfall is due to the pollution in the water it isn’t suitable for swimming in and if you aren’t keen on dogs you probably should give this beach a miss as it is extremely popular with dog walker.
Instow Beach was beautiful. We took the dog for a walk along it in the evening. The tide was coming in slowly as the sun was setting. Plenty of people still out and about going for a walk with their dogs. It’s a very clean and tidy beach. Easily accessible and plenty of parking available along the road. EDITED - Added some more photos from our recent visit. The views in the evening when it’s dark are amazing!

If you or your children want to try surfing then absolutely check these folks out. Couldn't have asked for more. From booking to waving goodbye the folks were excellent. Pleasant to deal with, it was obvious through the humour (we'll call it humour boys!) that they have sensible heads on their shoulders where everyone's safety and engagement are concerned. Sent an email checking for availability on the Sunday and booked a 2 hour absolute beginner session for three grown children on the Tuesday. Arrived and they got kitted out with no fuss, a short walk to the beach for the dry land instruction and then quickly to the majority of the time in the sea practising with guidance. It was good to see that where some people struggled they received encouragement and advice for them to make the most out of it.
We had a brilliant time. We are all beginners (one adult and three kids.. 15, 13 and 10yrs) and we all thoroughly enjoyed. The instructors are super helpful and friendly. They teach and check in with everyone regularly in the water and their enthusiasm is excellent. Many thanks to Stu and Tommy at the surf school.
Another fantastic couple of days surfing again this year. Our children really enjoyed their lessons again this year and I can really see the progress they have made from last year. Friendly, kind and helpful instruction from all their instructors. We look forward to returning again next year.
My sister and I had a great few days surfing with north devon surf school! Everyone was lovely and shoutout to Tommy and Dave who were particularly friendly and encouraging. Hopefully will be back for more fun and headstands
We’ve just finished 2x 2hour lessons with Stu. We had the best weekend, Stu was so supportive and we felt we were in very safe hands. Unbelievable value for money! Thanks Stu & everyone at North Devon Surf School - hopefully we’ll be back!!
We had a fantastic two days, one morning of lessons and the second day hiring wetsuits and boards because we loved it so much! The team at North Devon Surf School are really friendly and knowledgeable. I can’t recommend this enough as something you have to do if visiting North Devon!
2 adults and a teenager, never surfed before. Quite nervous, but felt very welcoming by staff, got kitted out, everything was explained and staff were ontop of everything! We got out on the water, instructors were very supportive, continuously going around between everyone with things to try and improve. Top marks guys, keep up the happy friendly vibe.
Our kids have been coming here for 7+ years. Honestly the best surf school in the area, friendly staff, top instructors (of all ages) and generally a top vibe. If you have kids and want them to feel safe and looked after, and more importantly to gain a new skill this is the place!

It's an amazing place to go, and I will definitely be returning soon. You do need to be fit to get up to the top for some bits as it is steep and quite a walk, especially in the heat. Everyone we met was friendly, food was good, and even sent a Lundy postcard.
Had an incredible time here, stayed at the old light upper. Such amazing views, not to far to walk to the shop or pub for great food and drinks, so many walks to do, saw lots of seals swimming around, lots of other wildlife and amazing light houses to visit .. would definitely recommend!!
Well, we saw the Puffins, Seals, Deer, Horses, Highland Cattle, Shearwater, Kittiwakes……I could go on. The best part was having our picnic in the Battery area on the Cliff edge watching the Puffins bring food for their young. So close and just so beautiful. So was the mesmerising scenery, the view after climbing the 147 steps to the lighthouse and then seeing two empty deck chairs waiting for the evening guests to sit with their Cocktails and take in the sunset….wow that’s an incredible bar view. Or perhaps watching the Seals poke their heads through the water to sunbathe…it was for certain a beautiful day. The weather, peace, tranquility and wildlife. An absolute credit to the Landtrust and Volunteers for maintaining this so well, and not cluttering the place with signs. Loved it!
Lovely place, gorgeous landscape, beautiful highland cattle (as displayed in photo), overall fab day out. Would recommend swimming as you get a better overall feel for how cold it is here and will have soggy socks for the rest of the day! Just brought property here and will use it to leave my friends at when they irritate me.
Lundy is a beautiful, unspoilt island. We were lucky and were able to see seals and puffins up close. It was early July and the breeding season was almost over. The young puffins were making their first attempts to fly. Important for visitors to Lundy: the trip must be well organised beforehand. There are 1-day excursions or possibilities to stay overnight in a small hotel or at the campsite. Those who love nature and seabirds will get their money's worth. There is no entertainment and only a shop and a pub with a small menu (also vegan food). The crossing with the only ship (M S Oldenburg) does not take place daily. In rough seas, many passengers get seasick! Weather-wise, anything can happen, even in July, so good shoes and rain gear are a must. Those who are not good on foot can use a shuttle service, because the climb from the landing site to the hamlet is steep, uneven and slippery when wet
Only a day trip but a fantastic place to visit, and we finally saw some puffins! The boat people like you there an hour early to board for the 10am crossing from Ilfracombe, and trip was packed - we were lucky to get an outside seat (i get seasick inside). Crossing was nice & calm when we went in May 2022. Getting on the boat from Ilfracombe harbour was easy, and getting off boat onto Lundy also easy. The walk from the boat when you land however is not easy - getting up to the main part of Lundy island is via a very steep & long track. There is a land rover for those with mobility problems- be advised you must have some mobility to get into the landrover (mobile steps provided but low ceiling to navigate along to the row of seats, i struggled), it is VERY bumpy & we couldn't get in the first ride, so wasted 30mins waiting for it to return, which is a lot when you only have 4hrs on the island. Landrover drops you close to Pub. We bought a pasty to takeaway- Expensive but tasty. Everyone working at & visiting Lundy was very friendly- we were very jealous of those staying overnight. Mist descended as we left the puffins & was an interesting walk back as we couldn't see much for a while- follow the wall back to the main road to avoid getting lost in the haze. If you have poor mobility & want to see puffins recommend taking 2 good walking sticks, for support & speed, & head straight to 'Jennys cove', adjacent to the 'halfway wall'. We got there & back in 3.5hrs, with about 45 mins bird watching included. An able bodied person would have at least an extra hour. The puffins are a long way off on the cliffs opposite, I forgot my binoculars, so hired some on the boat for £5 +deposit, which were powerful, much better than mine which i dont think would have done the job, so lucky I forgot them! My phone camera had no chance in photographing the puffins- bring a dslr with good lens if you want a puffin photo. We had planned to walk down to the boat, but were later than anticipated returning to the pub area, & tired, so took the courtesy landrover again (which meant time to explore the little church). We would not have managed the trip without the landrover to help us. A lovely, albeit tiring day trip from Ilfracombe.
Early start to get to Ilfracombe harbour to pick up the boat tickets. Smooth and seamless process. The boat left at just after 10 and we had a two hour sail to Lundy. The MS Oldenburg was fab! Really great views from the top deck. Buffet bar downstairs serving hot and cold drinks and breakfast sandwiches, also hot parties. Staff were brilliant! Lundy! Stunningly beautiful. Quite a steep walk to the village along a zig zapping path, took a hot 30 mins. Once up there though the views are breathtaking. Lots of accommodation dotted about which are run by the national Trust. A pub and stores to pick up any forgotten essentials, the pub does amazing pasties and beer!. We walked to the half way wall up the East side and across to the West idea, then down to the light house. You can easily do this in the 4 hours you have there. Views from the old light house are amazing, definitely a good stop off point and the left to the pub!
Amazing and beautiful. Tranquil. Great walking, climbing and swimming. Unspoilt. Staff very friendly. Well stocked shop. Great pub.

It's a decent shopping centre, even compared to the ones in London. Not huge but a good selection of shops. Not a full outlet centre, but still some good discounted prices if you look around. Plenty of free parking and mostly indoors, so good place for a rainy day.
Always enjoy Affinity shopping centre. Easy to navigate, safe from the rain. Plenty of choice of retail outlet stores with good sale offers. Clean toilets, opportunities to eat and drink. Parking was a bit full.
A really good place to get gifts and wander around. I enjoyed the varied shops while my partner went to browse Asda. Met for coffee at the beginning and end. There's a short stay car park of 2 hours and long stay just up the hill. Easy to park in our large vehicle plus good access for my powerchair to shops.
We had a fantastic day at Affinity Devon Outlet! This place is a real gem—packed with great brands at excellent prices. We got bargains at Next, Clarks, and Skechers, and loved exploring the new Weird Fish flagship outlet. What really stood out was how accessible and welcoming the centre is—wide walkways, helpful staff, accessible toilets, sensory aids, and even free wheelchair hire. It’s clearly designed with everyone in mind, which made our visit easy and stress-free. Parking was a breeze with lots of free spaces, and we appreciated the dog‑friendly vibe—there were even water bowls and treats available for our pup 🐾
Dogs allowed, perfect way to spend a rainy morning. Lots of great shops and had a bit of a spending spree. Lack of vegan options for brunch let it down, alongside long queues and slow service in Costa and the Cornish bakery.
Medium sized covered area with many individual shops, covering shoes, clothes, kitchen essentials, jewlery and cards. Does have a few empty units though. Also has a large Asda supermarket. Plenty of parking, some food outlets
Quite a nice little outlet. Plenty of parking. Disabled right outside. Decent clean toilets. Good range of stores plus Asda on site
Small but nice selection of famous name shops, and it's ideal if you are visiting Really Wild Planet as well with kids
