Small, homespun farm with the usual zoo suspects, plus alpacas, wallabies and owls, and kids' rides.

We visited Old MacDonald’s Farm with our two children (aged 4 and 2), and it was such a fantastic day out! The last time we came was just before my son turned one, and he was a little too young to appreciate the full experience, so I can honestly say the experience this time was so much better. Both kids absolutely loved the rides – which I think is one of the best things about this farm. You don’t just get to see and interact with the animals (which they also enjoyed), but there are so many rides (some of which are even suitable for babies) and outdoor play areas that kept them fully engaged. It really does offer something for everyone. There were plenty of opportunities to meet the animals (we did the rabbit encounter), and we were lucky to catch the summer circus too – my children really enjoyed that. The staff stood out as well; everyone we met was so kind and friendly, which made the experience even nicer. On top of that, there are indoor soft play areas for rainy days, but we had sunny, warm weather so the kids made the most of the outdoor climbing frames and slides. We visited from 10am until 3pm, but honestly, you could easily spend the whole day here until closing. My tip would be to arrive early: start with the animals and then move on to the rides once they open at 11am. A brilliant family day out – we’ll definitely be back!
Fantastic day out with toddlers. If you can on a weekday in term time you can go on all the rides multiple times as practically no queues! The set up is also very walkable with animals and rides and playgrounds interspersed ergonomically. They have a great variety of animals who seem happy and healthy. It's a little pricey, but it feels worth it to give money to a nice farm. I wish their food options were healthier - especially the snacks (having some fruit on offer for the kids would be helpful!)
We visited as a family with our three girls and had such a fantastic day! There was so much to do — from seeing the animals to enjoying the rides and fun activities. Everything was really well organised, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The girls especially loved the pumpkin patch and all the little details that made the day extra special. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon! 🎃🐮
Incredible place Got there at 10:30am and received an informative welcome from reception I was happily surprised that it was not very busy . I was apprehensive about how many rides my daughter who is nearly two could go on and yet out of everything available she only missed out on 5 attractions. I love how detailed the park was and that there was just so many things to keep kids entertained for hours . Cafe was really good with large portions of food that was not salty but full of flavour. Staff loved interacting with the kids ,were really polite ,enthusiastic and took pride in their jobs. Overall Very very good value for the money and 100% worth it Will be definitely visiting again hopefully with a party of family members.
This is a fantastic place to bring your child! My little one is under 2 years old, so the free admission is a big plus. Everything is well organized, and there's the convenience of being able to eat inside. As expected from places like this, the food is more on the quick side, but it's surprisingly tasty. I've visited twice already and will definitely be coming back. One of the standout attractions is the circus – it’s a wonderful source of entertainment for both kids and adults alike. I recommend this place !
A complete package of thrill, fun and exploration for the little explorers. The farm themed park has a lot to offer starting with family friendly yet thrill rides that little ones can’t simply resist. My little one enjoyed doing the happy horses, train ride and crazy barnyard ride - of of them couple of times. It has got a decent softplay area too right at the entrance, along side the cafe and icecream bars. The animated shows run throughout the day at the show barns and the adventure playgrounds are quite massive and located at the centre of the park. There’s one little explorers playground as well with lots or animal sheds nearby offering seating areas. My little daughter couldn’t only do the doggy roller coaster as the ride closed at 4pm only strictly, but for next time sure. We had an unmissable and unforgettable adventure time her in this park in Brentwood, for sure.
Returned for our annual.years Halloween visit. Bit disappointed to find the Halloween walk through bit was closed off however realised upon checking that we were a day early. Decided to make the most of it and enjoy the rides. Took some really lovely Halloween photos of my girls lots of perfect back drops and props available throughout the park Staff were lovely especially the man on the train ride. Staff on both coffee stations were friendly and my daughter's both enjoyed a delicious custom made hot chocolates in after eight and unicorn. Animals looked happy and with plenty of space to roam around. It was lovely to see the pig foraging for plants and eating on the grass. Two lovely carousels, a rollercoaster and several other rides plus the staff make this place a really fun day out for all the family We will return
Lovely day out, we visited Old McDonald Farm with the kids to experience the Halloween Festival, we have been coming here for years but not on Halloween . Brilliant day, so nice to visit a park with just an entry fee and when you enter all rides are included, shows and activities, no hidden extras. Kids had a brilliant day, even the adults too, the kids also received a free pumpkin each. Some of the children in our family were sick, the staff at Old MacDonald Farm were brilliant - even offered to move to a different day so the kids don’t miss out (for a small fee) . Well done Old MacDonald Farm, we will definitely be coming back again !!!!

First visit of many to this beautiful country park. There was ample parking, charged at a reasonable rate and a cafe on site too. Public toilets are dotted about and the ones we used were very clean. Plenty of space to enjoy a picnic and very peaceful. My little girl loved the play areas and the animals.
I come here frequently for walks and just to have a little bit of peace and it’s the perfect place for it! There’s lots of wildlife to be seen from deers to cows. It is absolutely massive and is such a lovely place to spend time. You can go deep into the woods or you can sit in the open area like many families do. There are toilets there and a little cafe!
Stunning area of beauty. Areas like Weald Country Park need to be preserved for future generations. I saw the beautiful lake and the deer enclosure 😍 I didn't get a chance to explore the entire park, but will definitely come back and spend more time here. You have to pay to use the car park
We had a wonderful time at Weald Country Park! We followed the Stick Man trail, which my daughter absolutely loved, and she was so excited to feed the ducks and deer with some carrots and apples. The play area is great for kids, and the café was perfect for a little break (the ice cream was a big hit!). We stayed for about 3 hours, enjoyed the fresh air, and took loads of lovely photos. Such a beautiful, family-friendly park with plenty to see and do. 🦆🦌🍦🌳
Spacious and clean, interestingly laid out too. Choice of car park, both of which were well kept and felt safe. Cafe was cozy & welcoming, and posters indicated interesting wildlife talks & walks. We will definitely return, as the place feels like a haven.
The forest walk is very nice and relaxing, a good way escape the Sun's heat in the summer. The forest and surrounding area is big you can encounter horse riding people, runners, dog walkers. There are open fileds for dogs to run around, to play ball games or just enjoy the Sun and have a picnic. You can easily enjoy a few hours here. There are several car parks around all pay and display or use the parking app on your phone. Shame they are paid instead of letting people enjoy nature for free. The main car park at the visitor center is big, here you'll find toilets and a caferia with food. To Brentwood center by car is less then 10 minutes drive or you can do a walkof aproximately 40-50 minutes. There is no direct access to the A12 from the park.
Beautiful park. Has loads to offer all year round. Has 3 car parks, as well as large open spaces, forest, playground, loads of dear and other wild life, lake and fishing is allowed. Great place for meetups, runs, walks, kite flying, bike ridding, picnics, taking photos, family day out and much more. Has cafe with great staff and food. Toilet are near the cafe, could do with some at the top end and the ones near the cricket ground could do with doing up and opening. Great place for the family and kids. There's talk that the cafe may closed, hope this is not the case and it's kept open. It would be a great loss to the park and the people that visit.
Nice park. Clean toilet. Cafe too. Lots of deers and a long trail

Great place to visit. Definitely recommend coming here. Staff are super friendly. Would be nice to have a few more toilets on site for when it gets busy. Overall it’s a great farm. Glad we came for my partner’s birthday
Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit. Accessibility is great for car parking and for the animals. Plenty of areas to sit and have something to eat too. Animals are great and engaging ! Can't believe a horse came up to me for the first time ever and allowed me to touch it ! Well maintained grounds and plenty of hand washing areas. I'd definitely return !
We visited Hopefield Sanctuary yesterday with the kids, and it was such a lovely day out. A lot has changed since I last came two years ago — all for the better! It was heartwarming to see how well the animals are cared for. The rescued horses, in particular, were so friendly and confident around people, which says so much about the love and attention they receive. The children had a fantastic time meeting all the animals and exploring the sanctuary. It’s such a peaceful, welcoming place, and you can tell how much the team truly cares about their work. Highly recommend for families or anyone who wants to support a great cause while spending time with some beautiful animals.❤️
We love Hopefield! This is the third year in a row we visit and it has become our favourite tradition. This year they went above and beyond for Halloween! Guys, you've outdone yourselves, the Spooky Barn was amazing!!!! The staff is always friendly and approachable too. My favourite thing is seeing all our favourite animals🥹 my favourite is Millie, the blind sheep, made me cry, wish I could sponsor her😭 thank you Hopefield for giving these animals a chance to live a happy life 🥹 Also love Maxs cafe, so refreshing to not have to worry and triple check that the food you're ordering is vegan! We will be back next year🥰
What a wonderful place! The animals are very much the priority here and they seem to have so much space. It’s just brilliant. Such a lovely day out and will definitely come back.
My family, friends and l visited yesterday for the very first time and l absolutely loved the place, and all it stands for. Of course the animals were so very well cared for! I’m still so surprised at just how big the cows are and how beautiful golden pheasants are 😯😍 It was very reasonably priced day out with lots of activities to keep the children busy, without having to put your hand in your pocket every time the children went on a ride. I am so pleased to of put my money towards such a worthy cause. 😊
This is a lovely animal sanctuary with so much for little ones (and their grown ups!) to enjoy. We visit regularly and try to attend most of the family days which are excellent value and rides, entertainment etc. are all included in the entrance fee with the added benefit of knowing your payment is helping rescue and care for their animals unlike many of the commercial overpriced fairs and activity parks. The cafe serves vegetarian food but plenty to choose from and decent coffee. Lots of picnic areas too. Keep up the great work Hopefield!
Wonderful place doing fabulous work. Lots of animals to admire and things to interest you and the children. Cafe does a decent coffee too

Slide 1 of 8
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been to King George’s playing fields maybe 5 times over 20 years of living in Brentwood. It’s a nice park that once or twice a year is used for events like the strawberry fair! It’s got great facilities for kids including a tree top climbing frame, kids adventure playground, and a huge number of playground rides from zip wires to swings. Dog walkers and kit fit folks in the mornings, chillers in the afternoon and kids in the afternoons, the park is important for everyone in their own way. Well kept grounds, clean, friendly, it’s definitely worth a visit.
So much for the children to do, Don't think it's fair that you have to pay to use the splash area and the adventure playground, The cafe's okay food's nice, Nice walk through the woods, And they've got crazy golf. 3 car parks and the sensory garden is lovely, Well worth a visit to this place.
Great place to visit, £2 for the small adventure playground with the huge slides, £4.75 for splash park. Not too bad but if you have more than 2 kids with you it gets expensive! Ice creams were EXPENSIVE £5 for a cone with flake.. park was lovely though, clean and plenty of stuff for kids.
Took my 3 grandchildren to the splash park (administered by Everyone Active). The children are aged 13, 9 & 2 1/2. Spent a lovely couple of hours there… 25 min session of the splash was enough for my little ones… I am sure others would be thrilled to spend hours in there. The grounds are well kept, play equipment in the ‘regular’ park was bright and inviting. Toilet facilities near the water park need more regular cleaning. They smelt awful. Many youngsters were using the toilets as changing rooms… not great when you have a toddler waiting to use the toilet… maybe a changing area should be built within the splash area? The only real let down for this place is the parking… well the method of paying… and the cost. I ended up having to pay on the phone…. The automated system asks you what time you are leaving in order to work out your parking cost… I repeat tried to tell it… I would be gone by 17:30… but it understood this as 19:30…. After several attempts to correct this.. I ended up paying the full day cost… which was around £9 I think… my parking should have been about £4. In the end… I actually left the park around 15:30. So I do feel this is extremely unfair. I now have an account with the parking for King George’s… so will see what happens next time I visit.
My 2-year old son loves this place! From indoor softplay, to an outdoor exciting playground (split in two sections for younger and older kids), the skate park where he can use his scooter, and splash pad with fountains… there is plenty to do all year round in any weather. There is a separate high ropes area for bigger kids. The cafe is nice but overpriced, not enough seating, and slow to serve. Enough parking places (usually) and Mr Whippy van is parked during good weather. Wish there was more green space and trees to just take a nice walk, but overall enjoyable for the family.
On a fine day , I think it's a fantastic place to go 4 separate infants, juniors, and place where adults can sit on benches, water park it was obviously ( closed ) seasonally. Carpark was full people leaving, found parking in short time. Overall great place to go .
I've been to King George's Playing Fields multiple times, and I enjoy the place. It's perfect for both children who want to have a fun day in the park and adults who wish to relax and unwind. The park is equipped with a play area featuring various swings and equipment, a water play area, a forest path for walks, and beautiful gardens. There is also a football field and a skate park. I highly recommend it.
Wide open spaces fields and woodland to explore with the family great place to walk the dogs, clean and tidy, safe play space for the kids. Many new facilities at King George's including new pavilion, splash park, adventure play area, soft play, adventure golf,King George's has something for everyone.

Beautiful reserve with bird hides, many signs around the reserve with history, old pictures of the grounds and fun facts. Good place to view snowdrops and daffodils too Limited parking on site, no dogs allowed except guide/service dogs and no toilets There's a pub next-door that's very accommodating!
Perfect for a family walk . A great place to spend time for nature lovers . Daffodils in bloom now but slowly withering . Visited on 23rd March . Can see many spring flowers and love the chirping of birds all the way !!! Car parking is a bit congested .
Fantastic area to explore. The Bluebells are beautiful. Tropical and European rhododendron’s are stunning. Loads of interesting things to see. The boating lake, cold frames and bird lookouts are highlights. The selection of trees are wonderful. Highly recommended.
This place is a real gem for those who likes to walk and explore, stop and look. It’s not a huge one but there is so much to see. Going around I had the feeling, that if this place would be in London, it would been treated as the Kew Gardens and would have been looked after better earlier. There are ruins of buildings, cold beds and nurseries, also a pool. You only can imagine their greatness. The garden is well looked after as a walking path and all, but I suppose maintenance has started when the decline of the buildings has happened already. There are mini huts available for bird watching and info about the wild life too. There is parking available, no toilets, no designated picnic area and no playground. Please don’t leave without donation. I left the qr code amongst my photos
Absolute hidden gem, you wouldn't expect to find such a lovely nature reserve. Really well kept and interesting history a great walk round with seating, bird hides and stunning views. Parking is limited but it doesn't get too busy. I will visit again
Delightful gem tucked away. Beautiful plants and history behind this place. Well worth a visit. Small car park as well. Just visited again to see the slopes covered in daffodils...what a sight to behold.
Beautiful, peaceful and kinda rugged in spots, Essex Wildlife Trust have surpassed themselves looking after this magical place! Winding paths with lots of steps, look out its steep! One highlight was learning about a resilient Lime tree that had been blown down in the 1987 gales. A nearby sign explained the area’s history and how seasonal displays of snowdrops and rhododendrons bring even more life to the landscape. The paths are flanked with bluebells and wild garlic - it’s April - it felt like an enchanted garden! Steeped in history, you can read all about the Willmott family, and how Ellen enjoyed the gardens.
Very nice nature reserve, set in the ruins of an old manor. The place is quite well located so it ‘doesn’t’ get a lot if visitors, you can have a nice relaxed walk around without feeling you need to move on. Lots of interesting birds and other wildlife can be found here making it a great all round experience. Some reviews say you can only spend an hour here, which I guess is right if your not really looking at the place.

To be honest, my expectancies were very low about this experience. However, I was quite surprised at how quickly my kids learned. They are not easy to please, but they love ski lessons. The place looks old, but not in a bad way. All made of wood, like you are straight on the top of the mountain :). The toilets were always clean, regardless how busy it was, you can always find a space in the car park and people are very nice with good vibes.
We had a private a ski and snowboard lesson here on Sunday. The instructors were excellent, supportive and friendly. If you want to learn or brush up on your skills this is a great and affordable place to do so! Thank you :)
I hadn’t been here for at least 25 years, so it was nice to see the place hasn’t changed significantly in that time. Bought my little ones here for a Tubing session and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and helpful, providing lots of information on the different classes available and a comprehensive safety brief before the activity begins. The site itself is starting to look a little old now and could do with being refurbished but it remains very clean and tidy and more than adequate, although the only refreshments available on site are vending machines that only take cash. My daughters loved the tubing but we will be coming back next week for skiing lessons. I would recommend a visit.
Friendly and professional. Reception staff were amazing, the instructors were great. Always punctual and very organised. We had a great time even in the wind and rain. Liam was a great instructor. Very technical with excellent communication. The instructors built both confidence and ability.
Decided to encourage my children to take up skiing by starting them off at the local ski club . A family lesson is quite expensive but I thought I could do with a refresh and it would good to do it with them . Booked a second one but my younger son woke up this morning with a temperature and sickness . Called all morning with no response , finally managed to get through only to be told that they wouldn’t move it as I needed to give the them one weeks notice . One week ago he wasn’t sick , these things do happen with children . The people answering the phone are always quite young and experienced which isn’t always helpful in customer service . £125 lost ! And I certainly won’t be going there again .
I went for the skiing and was so pleasantly surprised at how the staff here were so incredibly helpful, sharing advice and pointers. Really made it into a great day
My son came on Sunday to do snowboarding the instructor was amazing explained everything so well and we are going back My son loved it
“An accident waiting to happen” Took our two grandsons tubing here and I was appalled at the poor standard of supervision and safety. The staff member left us after 5 minutes and returned at the end of the session. Parents were left in charge. No helmets were offered and the general appearance of the place was run down and scruffy.
