Excellent facilities, very dog friendly. Lovely walk in good weather. Enjoyed seeing Donkeys in nice surroundings; very well cared for and loved. Gorgeous coffee and cake in the cafe too.

Great place. Definitely recommend coming here. Free entry and you can donate to help out. Donkeys were lovely and funny when one started issues with another donkey for smelling poo. They do sound like they have sore throats from all the noises they make 😂. Beautiful place tho and good clean toilets

I just had to meet Walter! The donkey whom my husband had gifted an adoption from The Donkey Sanctuary. I was expecting an old fashioned set up but I was totally wrong. The entrance is modern, well kept and clean. It is all well organised and the lovely people who work and volunteer, are well informed and willing to answer questions. We sat through a lovely informative talk where we watched the donkeys like a heard of cattle go back into the main barn that had fresh hay. They are such gentle animals, well worth the visit. It caters for all ages and with plenty of car parking spaces too. Definitely would recommend

What a beautiful location! There are so many well-cared-for donkeys, and we enjoyed an informative talk from one of the staff members. The hedge maze and play area for children provide great fun for everyone. There is plenty of seating around the park and fields. The restaurant was very popular, with a big queue leading into the main area. The food is excellent and offers amazing value for money, with huge cups of coffee. All the staff were working very hard. How is this place free? The shop has a wide range of items, all at low prices. It’s just fantastic! We will definitely be back soon.

Wonderful example of conservancy & protection of these gentle creatures. See many donkeys living in grassy fields and close up in their pens. Great layout of viewing walks all signposted with donkey info. Children will love it. Tea rooms and lunches also served.

What a gem this is. A peaceful, tranquil site with c.200 donkeys roaming the many paddocks. Good restaurant, gift shop, educational area and things for kids including a surprisingly tricky maze. Highly recommended way to spend an afternoon, with your dogs if you like also. Just remember to donate as the place is free entry.

Amazing place to visit. Facilities are great for visitors and Donkeys! The staff are excellent. The talk at shelter 1 when we went was very interesting and also entertaining when one naughty Donkey nibbled and undid the shoelace of the handler doing the talk. I never knew Donkeys cannot take much weight at all despite everything you see on screen and TV! Its well worth a visit. Entry is free! But please donate to such a good cause. We were visiting our adopted Donkey, Ashley on the day but the walks around the massive grounds are great to do and the cafe is well worth a stop off after too!

Lovely gardens even in the winter months. The views are beautiful from the top and it is a lovely spot to sit and relax in the sun. Lots of benches and clean toilets. Really enjoyed our visit.

Always loved visiting these gardens since I was very small with my grandparents and they are still as good as ever. Absolutely beautiful

Lovely location above the coastline of west Sidmouth. Nice views of the beach. Café with outdoor seating. Beautiful flower beds and a statue of the fiddle player with an information plaque behind him. Accessed from steps down from Manor Rd Car Park. Public convenience in a great location!

Stopped to see Jacobs Ladder and found this gem adjacent. Beautiful, peaceful gardens. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Really beautiful place , glad we went there. I didn’t like the beach area near by but up above in Jacob’s ladder area it was so different and beautiful. Caunnaught gardens ( near by) was like a beautiful Spanish garden. So nice

Nice beach and great scenery from all around. Can get rather busy at peak times but overall great. It's even nice to take a detour through between the main carpark and Sidmouth town centre.

A beautiful place regardless of the weather, so relaxing once walking down the steps onto Jacobs Ladder beach or nearby Chit Rocks, if you prefer, you could walk further upwards to see the most amazing views or even walk around the Connaught Gardens, so peaceful whatever you decide to do, plenty of chargeable parking close by too & a great place to spend the day exploring.

We had a wonderful day in Sidmouth starting with coffee at the Clock Tower Cafe, no cake, too early. A walk along the front and lunch at Selleys Cafe which was very good. Will return, Ian, Pat & Margaret. 01/06/2019.

I love walking up Jacob's Ladder with my Partner in the evenings when we stay in Sidmouth. We walk around there every day after dinner. There are lovely gardens and pretty lit up areas to explore.

Beautiful part of sidmouth, a great little snack shop at top of first stairwell then walk up Jacob's ladder to find a wonderful restaurant...the clocktower cafe serving all sorts of wondrous food ! The view from the top is gorgeous at all times of the year come rain or shine. Finish off with a stroll through connaught gardens and the view across sidmouth beach and town.

Really nice beach, great for kids, flat sand after tide went in, good rock pools and parking wasn't far either. Spent the whole day pretty much here.

A tranquil wooded and grass meadow running beside the River Sid from the edge of town up to Sidford. Public footpath and cycle routes give easy access through this nature reserve, which is beautiful!

A lovely place in the middle of Sidmouth to go for a walk and experience nature at its best. Green grass, large trees and a stream. Perfect for dog walkers and ramblers or anyone who wants to get a breath if fresh clean air.

Lovely area to walk your dog or just to walk or ride through as it has a bike path. Beautiful on hot days as your can explore more along the fields as it’s not to wet. 🐶🐕🦮🐩🐕‍🦺🐾

We visited the Byes on a hot day. There was plenty of shade to walk with our dog. She went in the River Sid a few times. Once, completely disappearing as it was deep. She made it out herself and shook herself off to chase her ball.

A beautiful place to walk and leads straight into Sidmouth town centre with lots of lovely shops, carry on walking and you arrive at the beach....what could be better. This area is simply perfect 👌

Great place for walking dogs. Lots of places for them to run and interact with other people and dogs. River nearby is easy to access, especially in the summer.

Well worth parking back from the seafront and taking a walk along the river. There is a footpath and cycle path that follows the river right down the the centre of Sidmouth so you can enjoy a bit of nature down through the Byes, and then enjoy the beach without having to drive through town!

This was the absolute highlight of my trip to South Devon. Maggie is such a lovely host and spends time to introduce you to the llamas and explain a bit about their personalities, you can tell she is very passionate about them and ensuring they are well taken care of. It was so fun walking with them and the views were amazing. After the trek Maggie prepared a lovely afternoon tea in the gazebo overlooking the llama field. Such a wonderful experience!!!

Fantastic time spent with Maggie today. Completely at ease with my young SEN respite girl, understood all the issues and hurdles she may have in meeting the llamas and made the visit totally tailored to her needs/requirements with no fuss at all. Couldn’t have been more welcoming and engaging whilst keeping instructions and info simple and encouraging her to have a try at activities. Learned so much about the llamas and was a joy to be around them. All different personalities, patient and gentle with us and came away with a new found love of these quirky looking animals which are clearly dearly loved and cared for by Maggie and her husband. Can’t recommend this experience enough… will definitely be back.

Maggie is a great host, very enthusiastic and clearly loves all of the llamas she owns. We went for the meet and great option which was lots of fun. Being introduced to, and learning about, the different llamas and their quirks was very interesting. After some grooming we took Harry and Golly out for a walk while buster the farm dog from next door tagged along. The experience was finished off with some extremely tasty cakes in the barn as the wind was picking up. I'd recommend anyone who is even slightly interested in spending some time face to face with llamas, you won't be disappointed!

What a wonderful adventure this was! Maggie was so full if beans and clearly loves her Llamas. My two girls loved their time here and so did we. We were fully engaged and entertained throughout our stay. Highly recommend

Absolutely fabulous! Maggie was great, considering we arrived with a blindfolded Hen dressed as a mermaid she was completely welcoming, game and jolly! She was knowledgeable and clearly adores her llamas. The experience was chilled, heartwarming and entertaining! Thanks Maggie.

I was a bit sceptical about Llama tracking before today. We’d been given the experience as a Christmas present. My wife was more than keen, so I went to support her. But what a great experience it was! Maggie, the host is amazing, and the llamas are not the boring farm animals I was expecting. They are more like dogs than, say, goats. Ollie, the llama my wife trekked with, can even correctly pick five colours from voice commands. My impression now? Llamas are fascinating, gentle, amusing, and infinitely interesting animals. And trekking with them is a very restful, zen-like experience. Heartily recommended.

This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Devon. The guide was very lovely and extremely passionate about the llamas. We had a great time walking two llamas, Eric and Oli. They both had very distinctive personalities which made the walk with them even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend anybody visiting Devon to come here.

I received a voucher for a choice of several activities to do, including the llama experience. I am so so glad I chose to do this one. From start to finish this was a fantastic experience. Maggie who runs the activity and owns the Llamas is absolutely wonderful. Full of passion and knowledge, she made our visit very special and taught us so much about these fantastic animals. Nothing was too much trouble and Maggie was so accomodating, went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of and we got as much as we could from our time. Our tea, danishes and muffins (due to cold weather we were offered these instead of afternoon tea) went down so well, and we felt so cosy in the hay barn. The Llamas...well, they are simply amazing! Such a bunch of different characters and all adorable! We really got up close and personal with them, and even got the odd touch of acceptance from a couple. They are so friendly and some even showed us their clever abilities to recognise colours with clicker training which was a sight to see! Not to mention the llama agility we got to do with them! We absolutely loved every second and we can't wait to return with our children who will love to meet this furry, funny, gentle creatures. Thanks again Maggie.

Nice small museum, which had some interesting exhibits, you could easily spend two hours plus and it's very reasonably priced.

An excellent small museum. My disabled husband could spend time (seated) searching the many interesting video choices, while I could wander the displays. Our tickets also allowed us to return after a lunch break. Thank you

Enjoy lace making on a thursday morning. The excellent displays in the museum are worthy of a much larger museum and are changed regularly. A wonderful source of local knowledge
