Sacred relics are on display at the Dommuseum within St. Mary’s Cathedral. The City Museum offers local history exhibits in the Knochenhauer-Amtshaus, an ornate half-timbered house on Market Square. Wildgatter animal park is home to deer and rescued birds of prey.

Even if you're not Christian or not religious at all, you can't help but be in awe of the history places like these hold. And even more, of the architects and especially the workers who have created these buildings without modern technology. And it's still here. The city of Hildesheim luckily left some space around it, so that you can really enjoy and appreciate it in all it's beauty. Highly recommended if this is what you're interested in.
From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt a genuine sense of welcome and community. The atmosphere is both peaceful and uplifting, making it a place where anyone can feel at home. The worship is heartfelt and sincere, blending tradition with a sense of relevance that speaks to all generations. The message delivered was thoughtful and grounded in Scripture, offering not just inspiration, but real-life application. Whether you're seeking a church home or just visiting, this congregation offers a meaningful experience that truly reflects the spirit of Christian fellowship.
If it would be Catholic, nice, sadly they overtook the probably once even more beautiful place. But the crypt is still catholic, and also really beautiful. Protestants even today gladly could not erase Mary completely outside of the history.
Great Architecture. One of the best place to visit. Peace of mind. Wonderful.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Very nice church to rest your mind in the morning. Had some nice organ music to.
Impressive romanesque, beautiful wood painted ceiling and four mosque- like round towers.
Absolutely beautiful and so peaceful.

Beautiful old cathedral near the city. Houses many beautiful artefacts.
Beautifully renovated cathedral. Well worth a visit.
the most simple, modern church with absolute respect for its historicity. really excited
I love the Architecture. The way it is preserved for us to see and admire the work of Art from the 11th Century, is such a great privilege. No entrance fee. Not crowded. You have all the time to look at all those magnificent Chandeliers, the door, the Pillars etc.
It's museum is worth a visit. Small fee gor a self served coffee/tea at the terrase inside is an extra bonus.
Yes, difficult to review this one. The thought that it was being built 800 AD is fascinating. The restorations are hmmm. I would prefer benches, really. During my visit, they started to play classical baroque music. As much as I love classical music, it has no place in a Catholic Church, also it’s distracting while praying a rosary, there should be not played modern instruments. I really appreciate their talent, but everything has the right time and place, and a Catholic Church is not the same as a Protestant church, the catechism is clear about newer instruments inside the church. Well, but some corners are really beautiful here, even though I am not getting on good terms with the artstyle of the statues, the bigger heads are a bit irritating when used of normal sized statues. A huge old Cathedral with few content, I know small parishes with more art, thought, some of the figures are normal sized, they look really good, and the paintings with baroque-ish decoration were fascinating me as well. Benches would make a huge difference, really.
Very historic cathedral. Well worth a visit even thought the interior looks more modern as it was heavily damaged during WWII and rebuilt. Don't miss the courtyard and cloisters.
Peaceful and pretty place. We were thankful to escape the extreme heat.

Egyptian treasures, Chinese porcelain & ancient Peruvian items in a modern museum with guided tours.

What an amazing collection of Egyptian artifacts. I had a great time there. The lighting and building helps you get the most out of the exhibition. It’s so diverse and I am happy I was there before they undergo the modifications which will result in it being closed for 6 months the Egyptian section.
Beautiful collection nicely presented in a modern building. Far better than what you may expect in a small city, certainly worth the visit. 4 stars in place of 5 due to the lack of English explanations. How about considering QR codes? We all have phones.
A bit unreal to find such fine antiquities in the museum here. Egyptian and also Greek. No signs in English or hardly any.
Very large Egyptian collection. Well explained in time scale from 4000 bc to 1000 ac. Beautifully displayed. Many statues, reliefs, some stone structures even. Many artifacts, large and miniscule: from pottery to jewelry. Mummies and sarcophagi. Some of the many captions are lacking constrast, making them hard to read.
Good, fun experience, tour guide knew her knowledge, mobile lightweight chairs are supplied on hand when you get tired, half the building is cooled and the other is not, can get a bit hot while walking up and down the stairs. Only very small bags are allowed with you on the tour otherwise you have to lock up larger bags in the lockers supplied by the staff. Enough bathrooms. There is a shop inside the building. Overall interesting experience and reasonably cheap entry fee.
Sadly, the worst ratio for exposition/price for a visited museum in years. Both clerks selling tickets did not bother to inform our family that the entire floor (half of expo) is closed. The only note telling about it is a small one hanging from a closing rope on the staircase. No info about it either next to book office, or outside. There is neitfer family rate nor student discount (only local city ones have it). The open, Egyptian section, is quite modest. 12 euro is a way overpriced ticket. Consider spending it for a different museum.
I am completely in love with the Egyptian collection, especially with the mummy of an huge crocodile. But for this visit, my main focus was on the plagues and epidemic exhibition. Sadly, it was not allowed to take photos of the walk-in-HIVirus and other exhibits in the part of the exhibition located on the second floor. Btw, there a some elevators in the house, but I am not 100% sure that everything is easily reachable with wheelchairs. Please inform yourself before going there. The people at the desk were kind and helpful. Even when not into museums, check their staircase from the lobby without paying the entry fee. It's amazing!
Amazing museum for the Egyptology lovers! Must visit. Great collection.

Gothic church rebuilt after a fire, with a prominent tower offering scenic city & countryside views.

The tower has more than 350 steps. Only for the most resilient tourists :) The view from the top is stunning.
Nice church, very calm inside, and in a hot summer day you can always find some freshness here
It’s an hidden gem. View from the top of the tower is worth a visit.
St. Andrew’s Church was begun in the 14th century but the massive spire was not finished until 1890. The church was destroyed along with the rest of the centre of Hildesheim on 22 March 1945 in an Allied bombing raid targeting the historic and residential parts of the town. It was rebuilt during 1956-65. The spire, which is the highest in Niedersachsen, can be climbed and rewards you with wonderful all-round views.
Great view to the city!
Lots of stairs but worth the climb.
Impressive church. The tower is worth a visit if you can manage the stairs!
Nice view from the tower but there were so many flies
