A lot of trials with the river and amazing views of nature.Wonderful old oak and beech connecting with stones.Stunning a waterfall also. Really was surprised this place and honestly I recommend for everyone who looking for a peace and challenges as well .You can walk and walk and feel good vibes this place😌🫠🌳📸🐦🪻
I went for a walk through the crags recently. I must say it is a wonderful place to go for a long walk. Perfect for dogs. They have four marked routes that you can take. I walked two, the crag and the orange trails. The trails are clearly defined but ruff and rugged in parts, so be sure to wear appropriate hiking boots, no trainers. It can get muddy and slippery, too. When on the trail look out for the markers, they aren't always obvious. There are two parking lots, one located in Clough and the other in Midgehole. I recommend parking in Midgehole, especially if you have young children walking with you. It's easier to join the trail from there, and you are less likely to get lost. There are visitor toilets provided in Midgehole and the Mill. There is also a small cafe and bookshop at the Mill. The mill is temporarily closed, sadly, but I will definitely return to complete the purple trail. Overall, it was well worth the walk. I absolutely loved it.
Absolutely stunning place, with walking routes to suit all tastes. Definitely need walking boots for some of the trails though as very rocky and quite tricky under foot with a bit of rain. We used the Midgehole car park, which was a decent size, and £4 for the day. Needed to have coins for the machine though as even though you can use an app to park and there is a card machine in the kiosk, there seems to be zero network coverage there to be able to use those options!
First time walking here today. Fantastic views & nice place to stretch the legs. Aged cottages to check out, which are free entry - & hold interesting information. The cottages & outdoors are clean & tidy, it's clear staff work hard to keep everything in check. There is also place to get a hot drink or an ince-cream (we didn't purchase but was popular with other people). Toilets are available (free of charge) these were clean & tidy (sensor flusher too) toilet roll available & warm water with hand soap in dispenser. We walked the stepping stones across the river, which was good. The walk can be as easy or difficult as you want (depending on the route you want to take). There are various options to stay on the main path or veer off course, down or up the narrow paths. I would suggest getting there early if you want to use the car park (£5 for the day) it gets full quick & very limited elsewhere as it's permit parking only away from car-parks). We would go again as other areas we want to explore. It was popular with family's and children sk it can be busy.
Had a lovely walk..the staff were very friendly & helpful, unfortunately the mill was closed due to an electric fault but that didn't stop us from enjoying all the surrounding nature and 🍄's on full display..... Highly recommend to all ☮️✌🏾
Absolutely gorgeous!! The entire area is a magical. The vibe, trees, crags, it was definitely worth the walk!! Unfortunate bit was the cafe. We were all really let down by it, lunch time on a weekday, lots of people around and all they had was a few odds and ends. No sandwiches avaliable that day so for 2 coffees, 2 rolls, and a muffin was 26£. Absolutely banging sausage roll, but not worth 5£.
We had a lovely afternoon walking from Hebdon Bridge up to and round Hardcastle Crags. There’s a variety of walks and we chose to walk the river route to the mill then take the crag route round the top. The cafe is good value and the Cornish pasties delicious. For a dry semi sunny Saturday the place was relatively quiet and though it he car park signs said full we met only a few walkers on the paths and it didn’t feel packed. I could imagine the place could feel overrun in the summer. There are toilets at the lower car park and more at the mill. Just a warning the ones at the mill do not allow for much breathing space as the cubicles are tiny. The walks we chose were not easily accessible and if you’re unsteady on your feet I would not recommend. The paths take you over sloppy rocks and protruding tree roots. It makes for an enjoyable woodland/river trail and all the kids we passed seem to love the variety. You could take the road path from the car park to the mill to make it easier however this is hilly. All in a lovely chilled out place and very relaxing
Great place for a walk. The route along the river is best after a slippy flight of steps (It had rained heavily day before) so best make sure you have the right footwear. Great views and photogenic scenery. Cafe at the mill is a bit expensive though so best to take your own. Great walks for all ages (and dogs).

Hardcastle Craggs and Gibson Mill are great for a day out. Walks in woods with stepping stones across river. Cafe staff very friendly. Second-hand books on sale. Parking available. A great place to visit if enjoy country walks and fresh air.
We parked at the Midgehole upper car park, unbeknownst to us, there was a car park a bit closer. Nevertheless, we parked, donned our sun cream, hats and picnic and set off to the Mill via the riverside walk. Lovely walk in which you could spend a couple of hours meandering through the forest, playing by the river and spotting wildlife. Not a walk for those with bad knees or who may struggle with mobility (the walk was suggested to be a easy-moderate walk, we were pooped by the end!). There is a tarmacked road which would suit wheelchair/pushchair users however, but a lot of this was uphill going to the mill. We would've carried on to the waterfall, but the heat and how tored we were from the riverwalk, we decided to leave it for another day. The mill itself was closed for a private function, which was a shame, however the cafe and bookshop(?) was still open for public access - not a large selection of drinks in the cafe though. Lots of seating available outside for picnics etc. Toilets were interesting; very small stalls, but reasonably maintained. Lovely views and all in all, a good day out in nature.
From Midgehole the River walk and woodland walk is 1 & 1/4 miles across varying inclines. River walk is moderate difficulty and not suited for those with mobility issues. I believe the Trust has accessible parking/drop off at the mill itself. Alternatively, can walk the road easily enough, which is about a mile and mostly level (with some inclines). Cafe in the Gibson Mill, that has some displays inside
Excellent place for walkers. However the building itself is really only for outside admiration as it contains very little by way of things to visit. Overall interesting place but not for us due to limitations on the walking side with some member’s of our group.
A bit disappointed as the path labelled accessible for wheelchairs is definitely not accessible. We were directed to a parking space near the mill but it wasn't the same as experiencing the outdoors. The mill no longer has the rooms open upstairs. Lovely pasties in the cafe
Beautiful walk in autumn however very disappointed in the cafe. Limited choice with only 1 gluten free option for savoury food, which was a cold cheese sandwich. The soup which was what we really wanted was minestrone so had wheat pasta in, and there was only 1 portion available at midday, with no alternative or new flavour for the afternoon.
Walking from Hebden Bridge, there is a nice circular walk up to Gibson Mill. Alternatively, there are 2 smallish car parks at the gates to the National Trust managed site that are accessed by small roads that can get 'blocked up' easily on approach. Gibson Mill itself, is a reached by then walking approx 1 mile via either a river side path or a dirt, vehicle track or a higher elevation path through the woods (the least walked!). Which ever option you take, we took the river side path outwards and the high elevation path back, the destination is often the historic mill. Some people go beyond the Mill to 'the crags' or further on the Blake Dean, where the path loops round a returns to the Mill. The Mill itself, acts as both a museum and cafe. The cafe offers typical, limited drinks and food. Many people seemed to take their own picnic and eat this on the grassy patches by the river. Toilets are available at both near the car park and at the Mill.

Great night to see the Chameleons (in 2025). I'd never been to the Trades club before but was struck initially by the friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced drink. Had an amazing night of music and good vibes 😌 awesome 👌 highly recommend
Building is run down but it adds to the charm. So few intimate gig venues left this is a little gem. Could do with more staff on the bar as long wait for drinks but the staff that were on were all working really hard.
Great place. Reasonably priced beer. Good venue for bands, have seen our favourite The Burning Hell here several times. Although band stage is on the 2nd floor, disabled patrons are catered for with a lift.
Great little venue in the centre of Hebden Bridge...prices at the bar competitively priced..and food available..variety of acts on throughout the year..well worth a visit...two bands on offer last night Gans & Ellis D...two very impressive acts...a completely bonkers evening...thoroughly enjoyable 😀👍
Great independent music venue and bar. Excellent, honestly priced Indonesian food served Wednesday to Sunday (or maybe it's Thursday to Sunday)... it's later in the week, anyway
Always wonderful at the Trades. Moonchild Sanelly & Shanika Sunrise were awesome, very queer, very sweaty show! Managed to stumble on the last train home, making new friends
Love this place, small venue 200+ seats, all with great views of the stage. Small bar very reasonably priced, very central in Hebden Bridge.
Excellent live venue. Lovely staff. Cheap drinking and excellent food.

We all loved it here, so much random treasure to unearth. Our faves were to old soviet badges, too cool!
It is 4:14 and they have a big sign that says they close at 4:30. The door was locked, I rang the doorbell an employee let a couple people out. We asked to go in and he said no we’re closed so I suppose never expect this place to be open when they say, I recommend they update their hours.
This was a lovely shop to visit, featuring a wide range of antiques! Rabbits are sweet in different clothing and bears are well decorated, tins are nicely kept too. Model children on shelves are cute and the musical area is interesting, there are vehicles such as cars or trains and even the Glasgow-London electrification info on a frame!
Had a good rummage, they have a lot of different antiques and collectibles. They also had a good vinyl section where I saw a lot of metal albums I used to have back in the 80s.
would not recommend this place I was a seller here and you do not get any sales and the customer service is very poor and when you get a sale you have to wait a week or so for your money this was a waist of time and money avoid..
Great shop really helpful staff
What ignorant people behind the payment desk. I brought to their attention that the only fire escape was blocked by a bookcase placed Infront of the fire door. Their reply was "we're not interested in your advice" so that sums them up . So all I will say is stay well and truly away from this company. TERRIBLE attitude. *I should not have to inform the owners that they should not block a fire escape it's common sense!!!
appalling experience from both ladies from the front desk and a woman called Kaz. My partner came in to this shop and saw a pair of designer trainers and had an idea of buying them for me as im a collector. with me not being there, i couldn't authenticate these trainers so when my partner got home to show me these trainers immediately, I knew they're class B. (not authentic) So then the next day I called the shop immediately to ask about their returns policies as i don't think they are aware that they have sold a fake designer. I was polite to ask if i can return them and the woman on the phone said she didn't want to discuss return policies as she thought it was a very strange topic to be discussed over the phone. she told me to the next day which I did. when me and my partner came to return these items we were introduced to the seller named caz and you can see this woman already had a disgusting attitude. I couldn't care how busy she claims she could be but she was blunt, no eyes contact and this is her knowing we were returning her item and threw our money on the table. the woman in the reception told me to tell caz about the reason of why we where returning the product and caz replied with no direct eye contact and said "no! i couldn't care". so i turned around shocked and honestly was furious with both of the ladies attitude inside their shop. The fact we were obviously younger than these ladies in the shop they obviously didn't show up to be the better example. Impolite and complete arrogant sellers. Disgusting attitude.
