Opatija

Opatija is a Croatian coastal town on the Adriatic Sea. A fashionable resort in the 19th century, it's dotted with Habsburg-era villas. The Lungomare is a promenade that snakes along the coastline, offering views of the town and neighboring islands. The 1800s Villa Angiolina, set in a garden of exotic plants, houses the Croatian Museum of Tourism. Parts of St. Jacob’s Church date from the 16th century.

One of the nicest fishing villages in Croatia. Take the steps and enjoy the small side streets.
A charming and picturesque little fishing port close by Opitija and easily reachable by public bus from either Rijeka or Lovran. I took the early morning bus from Lovran and then walked back via the Lungomare path that hugs the coastline, The route offers a myriad of lovely seascape views across the Adriatic. It took me a morning of unhurried walking and photograohy to explore Volosko's back streets and small harbour front, with a stop for a double expresso at a harbourside cafe. Very relaxing if you want to escape the crowds in Opitija - but get there early before the noisy tourists arrive!
Beautiful village by the sea. Spots to jump in for a swim, couple of restaurants, nice relaxing place
Lovely place nice harbour, promenade nice coffee shop, s would go back a excursion probably wouldn't take you there but it, s easy peasey.
Walk down to the Obalno Setaliste Franje Josipa. Beautiful walkway by the sea.
Such a beautiful nice place near by Opatija! :))
Honestly my favorite village on the Croatian coast. It is a tiny, tucked in, fishermans dream. It is a place you would want to rent an apartment for 3 months and write a book. Also the restaurant selection in such a tiny place is insane. Some of the best restaurants in the region are not more than 5 minutes away. on foot. Truely a hidden gem.
Small, picturesque coastal town/ fishing village is a part of the city of Opatija. Take Lungomare seafront promenade from Opatija and enjoy this unique experience. Take a cup of coffee on the waterfront and just relax.

Iconic shoreline statue of a "nymph" with a seagull, erected in 1956 as a symbol of the region.

You can’t visit Opatija without stopping by the Maiden with the Seagull statue. It’s right by the water, and with the sea and mountains in the background, it makes for a really pretty photo spot. We came across it during our walk along the Lungomare, and even though it’s a simple statue, it has a certain charm. Apparently, it replaced an older Madonna statue that used to stand here. Either way, it’s one of those landmarks you naturally come across while exploring. A quick but classic Opatija stop!
This is a great iconic photo spot for your first trip to the city. If you can catch a day when the water is rough you could grab an awesome photo with the waves crashing up the rocks behind the statue!
The place is very nice for a holiday. Hotels and restaurants in every corner. Lots of beaches and pools in hotels. The beach is really amazing with a long promenade, colorful and simply wonderful. The food is very tasty. Very nice people. There is a desire to go back there.
Unfortunately the statue faces the wrong way to be seen from the land viewing options. It’s not clear what the girl with the seagull has in common with the area (other than the obvious).
A (walking) area along the coastline, it was a very warm day for us but we still enjoyed it because there are shades from time to time along the path. We reached this landmark and could view the ocean and nearby places... but unfortunately, for us it is a bit umderwhelming.
The whole walk along the coast path is wonderful. Plenty of places to have a dip in the clear inviting sea. We didn't walk the whole length but found fabulous cafe called the Veranda when we ate a light lunch. It was up some steps, views were magnificent and food as lovely served under the coolness of the pergola.
Was advised to visit the Maiden with the Seagull in Opatija. It was just a 20-minute stroll from our hotel. There were plenty of places to eat and drink on the way to the Maiden. Live music was playing at many bars. The Maiden with the Seagull was OK, but nothing great. It is just a statue on the rocks. It is the places and the vue near it that makes it an attraction.
Nice sculpture made by Zvonko Car in 1956.

Literally I left a piece from my heart here. It’s a must-visit place in Croatia. This villa & park offers a lot of things to make you feel in heaven or a fairytale whichever suits you the best! I enjoyed till the last moment of visiting & discovering here with my family! Weather was with full of surprises! Partly cloudy, rainy and sunny (around mid-Jun ‘24). I would be so happy to visit again with museum part as well! #Opatija #Croatia
The whole area around the villa is mesmerising. The park surrounding the villa and stretching to the sea in many directions is so beautifully organized and maintained, offering a wide variety of plants (bushes, trees, flowers) carefully trimmed to exhibit mosaics and eye catchy sights. The paths through the little forest r a great runaway from the sun when it is hot and lead to many cafés or restaurants by the sea. The architecture all the way through the Lungomare promenade really captured my love of art and exterior design. I strongly recommend taking a long walk there and enjoying the beauty of this beautiful place.
The museum was closed but it was worth the walk (not straining since everything is close there) as we could visit the garden which was beautiful. The access to the sea was beautiful as well. Just take a look at the pictures.
I went to park angiolina with my mum and dad today There we had a look around the park to see what they have there You have a very lovely park in opatija croatia It's a lovely place to go for a walk when the weather is lovely and sunny and when it's cooler in the mornings before it gets too hot later on in the day Weather can be very changeable here with the mountains all around us You never know what to expect in this part of croatia we are in The directions are so lovely and organized It's a very lovely place for people to go and visit This place gets it's very first 5 out of 5 star rating by me Enjoy reading your google review by me Have a lovely rest of your day 5 stars all around

It's a public beach. Very popular. You have to pay for sunbeds. Less shade.
Grate water activity for kids over 10 years old when you buy it. Swimming at the beach is ok for adults. A bit deap for beginners. Water is clear and slightly cold ( 18 Degrees C).
Came here on not so sunny day, everything was closed. Wanted to lay on sun beds but it was not possible. People here was rude and not friendly. They ask for 25 eur for a place but behaviour is not acceptable! So you can lay on concrete… in so called paradise.. and while writing this feedback employees are having a beer in bar close to beach .. nice job
Concrete beach, no natural shade. You absolutely need a sunshade. You have them available for an additional fee. The beach is located next to the road, hotels. It is not the most peaceful location, it is very crowded. Toilet is available - also for a fee. Clean water and many beachside cafes.
Very unpleasant concrete, my daughter and me got some bleeding scratches on our legs. Two chairs with parasol costs a lot €30 for a day. It's a nice place to hang out, but there are many better places to swim in Istria.
Amazing sea. Different colors of sea. Many people walks, lie near sea. Waves are perfect))). Good for walking, running
Typical croatien's beach with concrete steps with beautiful frontside and mountains view of riviera, with air castle on the water for child and comfortible caffes for parents...
Clean place and very clear water, but the concrete takes away the beack vibe

We had the most amazing stay at Amadria Park Hotel Sveti Jakov. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience was nothing short of exceptional. The service was truly top-notch—every team member worked tirelessly and provided a level of professionalism and care that really stood out. The hotel itself is beautiful—immaculately clean, well-maintained, and exuding a luxurious charm. We especially loved the on-site restaurant, which was simply excellent. The breakfast selection was comprehensive, offering a variety of options to suit every taste. It truly had everything one could want to start the day right. Overall, Amadria Park Hotel Sveti Jakov was a perfect getaway for us, with exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The best hotel on the Adriatic coast. Position is great as wll as the view. Great food but, abowe all, the staff is superb. They simply provide service that is on another level with ease and kindness and make you feel special. So thank you for a wonderful vacation.
Outstanding Performance from the entire team members. The hotel is very classy and vintage indoor dining and rooms. The service what’s made this place with a Spirit, People working here are literally a family my special gratitude to Both Miss Evana, & Miss Nikolina you feel this thing they have good F&B as well. Liked it very much. Thank you so much for having us.
We enjoyed our stay at the Amadria park hotel in Sveti Jakov Opatija. Our travel agent booked this property so I didn’t know a lot going in. The property is absolutely beautiful and if you enjoy historical boutique hotels you will enjoy it. We had 3 rooms due to traveling with 3 people. The bathrooms in each room were very spacious and the rooms were comfortable. There is ac in the rooms but it does not get very cold especially in rooms with more windows. There is a nice feature of sharing amenities with the sister hotel just a few minutes of walking distance away. My kids and I enjoyed their spa, pool and hot tub area. One of the stands out for us was the breakfast each morning. The staff was so kind and helpful and the food selection was great!!
I recently stayed at this hotel, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the rooms were beautifully designed with a perfect look. The staff was incredibly hospitable and kind, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The restaurant was also top-notch, offering carefully chosen meals and an excellent breakfast that started each day perfectly. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I’ll definitely be returning!
The complex is nice, rooms are ok, but you are paying for everything extra, the sunbeds are 10 euros/each, aquapark from the complex is 35 euros, a train that goes around the complex, paid, parking, again paid per day. For 7 days we paid 112 euros parking and city tax. You can only access your hotel's pool and restaurant, the rest not. I wouldn't generalise, but some people, like the ones from boat rentals were disturbed by any questions, very rude and unprofessional. Others were very ok. Also from the reception we didnt get full info about what is available, prices etc, we kept discovering them by chance, like the train. The animation was okish.
We have spent a most fabulous five nights at this wonderful small hotel. Staff are so nice and helpful. The hotel rooms are beautifully appointed with super showers and comfy beds. The hotel is 3 minutes walk to the shoreline with all amenities available. Great holiday spot to relax and enjoy the local hospitality.
absolute satisfaction, excellent staff, very good breakfast, cozy, close to the sea and far from noise. We will come again next year.
