very beautiful place, even in gloomy weather fascinates😍 The film "Welcome to the South" was filmed here, funny and good
Beautiful views of the surrounding area and sea! €1 tickets are purchased from a machine. It's fun to wander around the castle.
When we visited most of the exhibition were closed, so... it's inexpensive (1€ per person) but there's not much to see. So much potential, hopefully will improve.
Very beautiful place and worth the visit....
Beautiful little town on top of the hill, must see in Cilento.

A small, charming Catholic church built right on Santa Maria Di Castellabate's beach. Being or not religious, anyone is welcome to attend a mass or simply to have a quiet, introspective break in its modest but beautiful interior. The bell ringing at each mass hour helps to preserve the small town tradition even during the busy summer days.
The sanctuary Santa Maria a Mare (Holy Mary at the Sea) was formerly called Santa Maria "near the shore of the sea" and it is known as early as 1102, so it comes before the settlement of the hamlet and although with considerable transformations it is located in the same place where it was first built. With the notarial deed of 8 August 1826 the local families assumed the burden of building the new church. The decision to dedicate the sanctuary is due to the fact that at that time among the locals there were numerous families who arrived from Maiori with the eighteenth-century emigration. The latter brought with them the devotion to the Holy Mary at the Sea (santa Maria a Mare of Maiori), to whom they had also entitled the collegiate of their native village. Construction work ended in 1836 when the new church was solemnly blessed. In 1911 it was recognized as an independent parish. In 1985, due to the damage of the earthquake of 1980, the sanctuary was closed for restoration until June 4, 1990. On 25 October 2007 the church of Santa Maria a Mare was elevated to a diocesan Marian shrine. The structure consists of three naves divided by pillars and has a hexagonal bell tower that distinguishes the landscape of Marina Piccola. At the center of the apse stands the statue of Santa Maria a Mare, patron saint of the village. In 2017 the restoration was completed in the abbey of Cava De 'Tirreni of the statue of Santa Maria a Mare and returned to the church of the same name. Every August 15th of the year, the religious and patronal feast of Santa Maria a Mare, patron saint and patron of the city, is held. There is an inscription in relief at the front "Santuario Santa Maria a Mare" and the door of the central nave in bronze, in which are depicted in relief the image of Santa Maria a Mare and some events that have distinguished the story: the coronation at St. Peter's Square in Rome by Pope Benedict XVI, the pilgrimage to Maiori by sea and the arrival in the Sanctuary of the relics of St. Therese.

Amazing location and delicious food This place lies in a little cove but offers a beautiful view on the sea in the small village of Santa Maria di Castellabate. They serve delicious and fresh sea food, sometimes they propose vegetables of their own garden (Km 0). The staff is friendly and a warm. Fantastic!
First time we had come to this place with my family, it was recommended by friends that had been going there for years. We absolutely loved it! The staff were soooo lovely and friendly, food was delicious and the beach was Devine and I’m not a beach person but if you are ever in area please visit, you will not be disappointed. I’m definitely going back! Great work Lido family, keep up the good work!
La dolce vita - warm welcome, great cuisine and fantastic local rosé - all this at the water front - what else as would say a famous actor!
Great place, great people. Very cute lido with a beautiful view. Warmly recommend enjoying one of their delicious salads at the restaurant
We had a great time in the Lido Santa Maria. All the staff and lifeguard were so helpful, patient with our poor Italian and very accommodating. The beds were comfy and we enjoyed the gorgeous sandy beach a lot. We had some cornetti with chocolate and capuccinos when we first arrived and everything was delicious. We'll be back for sure. The process for the reservation was very easily done in their website the night before and when we arrived they were already waiting for us.
I have been coming to this beach bar(lido) for the past 17 years with my two children, now teenagers! They love it here and we all have made friends with the locals and holiday makers returning like us every year for the summer holidays. Rosa and her family are so friendly, excellent hosts and make you feel very welcome. From the restaurant you have a beautiful view of the beach/sea. The food is excellent, lots of fresh fish and seafood daily along with chef specials. Make sure you book a table as it gets very busy at lunchtime. Prices are reasonable and the food and drink is good value for money. The beach is clean, soft sand and clear blue sea. You can hire an umbrella with two loungers for the day. Clean toilets and showers are available too. Highly recommended lido Santa Maria. Thank you to Rosa and family and staff for making our time in Santa Maria so beautiful xxx
Loved It! Stopped here for Lunch and a Swim as part of #ExodusTravel Cycling Holiday! The restaurant and beach were fantastic. The Restaurant Menu is excellent with lots of seafood choices along side varied other dishes and salads. The Octopus in the Fancy Salad was so good some of the best I have tasted! Other seafood recommended by our other party members as well as the Salads and side Dishes Excellent Service as Well! Highly Recommended!
We spent 3 days on the beach here and every day came back to this café, something we rarely do. We mostly had coffee - €1 for espressos and €2 for drinks like lattes, much cheaper than we'd been accustomed to on the Amalfi coast. One day we had lunch and it was very good - the gnocchi in tomato sauce and tuna salad were tasty and filling. Reasonably priced and staff are friendly and helpful. It has an excellent view over the beach and seafront and is a great place for lunch, drinks, or for watching either people or the sunset.
