Go to the top of the cathedral. It has the best view of Solothurn's old town
Between the Swiss capital Bern, city of bear and UNESCO heritage old town and the financial center Zürich, very few tourists attracted here, Solothurn is a city with plenty of charming: very well conserved old town, charming squares, Fontaines with status just like in Bern, beautiful clock tour, the cathedral, lovely bars and restaurants alone the river Aare etc. Really worthy of one day’s stay!
Outstanding cathedral, a must see whatever are your believes.
Gorgeous place located between Olten and Bern in Switzerland. The legend has it that the top cardinal of Switzerland had their seat at this place. The cathedral is Grand and attracts thousands of tourist. It is located inside the walled town. Highly recommended for a visit if you have time in your hands while driving towards Bern.
Beautiful and serene!
Impressive building, beautiful Christian church architecture
climb the stairs for a fantastic 360° view of the old city and surrounding environs

This place is just an amazing hidden gem 💎 in Switzerland. It’s perfect for a walk in summertime, so it’s cool. Very nice with the rocks and the stream and many tiny waterfalls. At the end you will be served with a outstanding panorama of beautiful houses and a monastery. You can’t find pictures in my gallery because it’s not aloud to take pictures and I don’t understand why people don’t respect that.
Beautifully serene hiking path. It's rather chilly in the forest as compared to the ambient temperature outside of it, so bring a jacket. You'll get to see streams, and a lot of Christian memorabilia/Jesus Christ statues around the path the more you walk down. Many carvings in the stones and rocks along the way too. There's a hermitage at the end of the trail, which was accompanied by a shrine and a small chapel. Easy to navigate, you don't need a map and you won't get lost.
What a lovely and relaxing place to have a stroll with kids and family ! Parking may be limited, though.
Beautiful mystical place !
A very nice place for a quick and not so hard hike. There are several convenient parking places close to the trail(s) and different restaurants that unfortunately are closed in the present moment. But after they are opened after the Covid measures are relaxed, there will be an extra attractions to the place. There is something for everyone. Definitely recommend the place. And it could be conveniently combined with a visit to Solothurn.
Ferrytale gorge walk. Great to walk through and finding at the end a cave with a build-in church. It is a very relaxing walk with wonderfull autumn colours and regular small waterfalls. Great outing.
Amazing place. Nice flat and prepped area for walking without difficulty, so medium mobility issues are not a problem here. Take candles with you to light and leave if you want to. Little night lights would be prefect.
The Verena gorge offers a lovely hiking path along the name giving gorge. Along the path you'll cross multiple small bridges and discover numerous caves (once home to hermits). The path is flat and wheelchair/stroller accessible.

The Church of the Jesuits in Solothurn was built from 1680 to 1689 . The style is baroque style. The high altar, made of marbled wood, displays the picture of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary by Franz Carl Stauder."
Another magnificent Christian church. Simply superb
The Jesuit Church is a hidden jewel in a stunning town. From the outside nothing saying front, walk through the doors and behold a world of Baroque fantasy. Sadly many walk past with never noticing this church and when outside look up at the statue of Mother Mary, she is pointing to the city of ****. Guess to which city she is pointing to, but it is not Rome as 99% of other Mary statues do.
The Jesuitenkirche is in my opinion one of the most splendid baroque churches in Switzerland. A must see when you visit Solothurn.
Building with an interesting history. Attractive though not outstanding.
(Translated by Google) It's easy to walk past the façade of this church; although it stands out among the buildings, it blends so perfectly into the overall city skyline that passersby have no idea what awaits them on the other side of the door. The grandeur of the decoration, all those details, the silence and solitude. Many pass by, and unlike the main cathedral of the Goral, here you can sit alone.

Small but very nice art museum with a small collection dating beginning of the 20th century. Free entry with offer, definitely worth a stop. Art fountain and kids play area in front, small bar inside
Very chill place, free admission, with really weird and funky modern art.
The international collection is small but of very high quality. One of the most mesmerizing portraits by van Gogh & probably the most heavily worked-up / mysterious late skull portrait by Cezanne.
I visited on a weekday and was surprised to find that the entry was free! I was enchanted by the Old Masters on display on the upper floor but not so much by the modern art. But each to his own. Afterwards you can enjoy a delicious hot chocolate and some confectionery downstairs while reading some Museum
Beautiful paintings and friendly staff. Free entry l got and there is a small café area in the lobby. Definitely worth it!
Very nice quiet museum with a very nice garden in front of it where children may play with free toys from the museum. Also very nice people in the museum give you advice and information. I really recommend it!
A small and excellent gallery and its free.
Unfortunately we only had little time left to visit this small but lovely museum. A lot of interesting and very diverse artworks as well as very nice staff!

Excellent museum of old Swiss/protoConfederation weapons. Well presented. Air con'd
and, yes, for those willing, you can put on a medieval knight's armor (great for the kids)
I have been to this museum twice. Once was four years ago, before the significant renovation which saw it closed for two years. Then and now I give this museum five stars. That is not to say there are not some things which I preferred about the old museum. The new renovation was very well done. As an English speaker I greatly appreciated the interactive displays and tablets which allowed me to learn far more about what I was seeing than on my previous visit. Also several pieces were far better presented. One structural change I noted were the windows. When I was there four years ago they were wide open with a breeze coming through, now they are fixed closed, most likely to the benefit of many pieces on display! I did notice there seemed to be far fewer pieces on display. This was most notable with the larger two handed swords which had hung around the outside wall of the inner circular staircase. Far fewer seemed to be present and there also appeared to be much less armor. If I had never seen the old museum I never would have noticed. Nevertheless this is a fantastic museum and I hope in the days to come they will expand what is on display.
Very cool museum! History literally breathes from every cannon, sword, and armor. Totally worth a visit when you're in the area.
Not very big but interesting, large display of weapons from swords and clubs to WWI canons. A bit of Swiss history, well explained. Family friendly.
Nice museum. Not suitable for children We had a terrible time here staff followed us around telling us the children are not allowed to touch anything fully understandable in a museum. But the way they spoke to us was inappropriate. Ruined the lovely day that we were having in Solothurn.
Great place even if you have no idea. Zeughaus in Solothurn
The "old" arsenal in Solothurn is a must for all people interested in history. The collection of suits of armours, one of the biggest in Northern Europe, is must see for anyone. The "Zeughaus" on its' own square, in one of the prettiest Barock towns in Europe, represents a high quality museum with good and kind staff members,

Beautiful medieval tower with intricate and intriguing clock system. Giving a lot of historical vibe to the square, regularly animated by food market.
Solothurn is one of the best cities in Switzerland, architecture wise.
Such a beautiful place
One of the must see when going to Solothurn.
Worth a visit if you’re in the city.
Beautiful historical landmark.
