Paleokastritsa

Palaiokastritsa is a village in northwestern Corfu, Greece. Corfu has been suggested to be the mythical island of the Phaeacians and the bay of Palaiokastritsa to be the place where Odysseus disembarked and met Nausicaa for the first time. The monastery in Palaiokastritsa, which dates from 1225, houses a museum. Wikipedia.

Amazing atmosphere, staff and location. The beach is a gem surprisingly considering how central it is. The beach bar is perfect to hang out all day with a lot of space to chill. Restaurant in the hotel had a great menu particularly the steak, which was perfectly cooked and presented so well. There was live music on the night as well which was perfect. The staff and service really stood out. Even reception were so helpful and inviting.
Had a great 6 nights here. Got a west-facing room and just about managed to see some sunsets (due to time of the year!). Breakfast had nearly everything you could want. Staff were excellent. Pool was nice. Location of hotel was perfect. Watch out for mosquitos at night and have breakfast inside if you can to avoid the wasps! Didn't have dinner here but the pool menu was more expensive than I expected - although similar to bars/restaurants nearby. Would return
A really good hotel with beach access, nice swimming pools and great views on both sides. I would say it is good value for money for what you get. The breakfast buffet is endless with a huge variety of good quality options (one small thing - it would have been nice to have fresh fruit juice, not concentrate). We had a superior bay view room, we were a little disappointed with the view as it was restricted so I would recommend a sea view room instead. Overall though a great place and we’d stay again
Beautiful! Love the calm vibe. The hotel has two sides with equally gorgeous views. Access to the beach is down many steps so may not suit some. The Rocky beach was more secluded and great for snorkelling, access to water from a ladder! Main beach is beautiful and accessible from hotel terraces that are never too busy. Rooms are clean and love the Olivia Thinks shampoos and body lotions. Breakfast included and something for everyone’s tastes.
Excellent experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff extremely polite, and the stay comfortable and relaxing. We will definitely visit again. We were absolutely satisfied. The cleanliness, tranquility, and service exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend it. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. The attention to detail and the kindness of the staff make all the difference. We can’t wait to return.
Totally worth it! Rooms are lovely and the staff is so incredibly helpful and wonderful. And of course, the cliffside sunbathing area is just to die for. Totally lived up to the photos and hype. I was out there everyday having the time of my life. Reading and swiming in the water all day long. Playing in the near by sea caves, and snorkeling and enjoying the sea life. The food here is wonderful! Make sure to get the half board, it's totally worth it. Also, make sure to make an appt to eat at their bar, food was phenomenal! My husband and I rented a car while here, but there is a bus that run from the Hotel to Corfu all day long. And it hardly costs anything. We actually used it to go into Old Town so we wouldn't have to worry about parking. The only complaint is that people will go put their towels down by the rocks, and leave them there for hours. Taking up the few sun bathing beds there are in the cliffside. I wish the staff would oversee that area. The rest of the resort has signs that say if you leave your things in attended for 30 min, they will be removed. People would put their towels out and disappear for 2 hours for breakfast, then for a couple hours again for lunch. I thought it was rude! I always would take my towel with me when I left and offer my seat to someone else. Trying to hog a spot seemed so awful and just plain selfish. Especially as there were times I would come and go and the entire time the person who's spot was saved, was never there! Literally, once I noticed for 3 hours a couple didn't show up. Even though other couples came and went hoping for a spot.
Outstanding experience. Celebrating anniversary and were upgraded. From the modern, zen-inspired design and furnishings in suite, the incredible views from most everywhere in hotel, the friendliness of the hard working staff, wonderful breakfast offerings to the personal touches we enjoyed like our immaculately cleaned suite (thanks Maria!) and beautiful towel art. We also received a few special gifts from the staff for our anniversary. In my family’s many years of travel, we have never encountered such care and attention to detail as we did at Akrotiri Beach Resort and the next time we are privileged enough to visit Corfu again, we will absolutely be sure to stay here again. Thanks for such a wonderful stay❤️
This hotel is beautiful. The only “negative” I would say is that there are a lot of stairs in order to reach the beach. I would be concerned with how elderly or people with disabilities would be able to access the beach. The staff is incredibly nice. The rooms are very clean. The view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. A buffet breakfast is available from 7:45-10:45 with my stay. There are restaurants within walking distance! I would definitely recommend this hotel!

A really cool place built into the rock, with steps leading down. The staff are super friendly. Sunbeds are better to book ahead, but you can always grab a spot at the bar. Smoothies are unusual and tasty, and the burgers are great. There’s a rock you can jump from, and the seabed is beautiful – definitely bring a mask. We’ve already been a few times and keep coming back.
Amazing place with a breathtaking view! Friendly stuff and a great manager! The food is delicious and the bar is top! You have direct access to the sea. It is rocky but it is worth. We recommend to add more Greek food in the menu.
We only went for a drink in the evening, around 6 pm. Such a cool place with a gorgeous view! The bar is located between the cliffs, has got plenty of space, rocky access to the beach - so you can easily go for a swim and have a drink after. The staff was very friendly and funny. Very engaging. Such a nice atmosphere.
La Gotta Bar is more than just a place for drinks – it is an experience right by the sea. One of the highlights here is the special spot in the water where you can jump from a relatively high point. It feels adventurous and is definitely a fun activity for anyone who enjoys the sea. The water is clear and perfect for snorkeling, making it easy to explore and enjoy the marine surroundings. Another great option is renting a small boat for a short trip, which gives you a chance to see the bay from a different perspective. The view is stunning, with mountains surrounding the coastline and creating an incredible atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the service is good, which adds to the overall positive experience. With its combination of sea activities, panoramic views, and welcoming vibe, La Gotta Bar is a unique and memorable stop that is worth visiting.
Great beach bar/restaurant! You have an amazing view on the sea it’s absolutely beautiful. The bar gives Ibiza vibes ! We’ve been served by Yannis and he’s probably one of the best waiters I have ever seen ! If you can book, book in advance as it’s a really busy place.
Perfect place! Really enjoyed the view and the food and the drinks, the service was great, the owner is very friendly. The vibes are amazing, good music and the beach is great. Recommend the smash burger it was delicious. It’s worth the drive even though is not so much parking around, so if you want to park close come early in the morning. I’ll definitely come back again in my next trip to Corfu!
One of the best spots ever to sit and have a drink or two. Beautiful spot, surrounded by cliffs, water colors are amazing, chill music, absolutely perfect 👌 Important information: 1. Going down and up is by stairs, not too difficult , but if you find it difficult- it's not for you... 2. Kitchen is open at 12:00, before that- only drinks 3. You can swim from the deck, bring you towels. 4. Be ready to spend some time in there, it's amazing. 5. Don't bring food with you, it's not polite and forbidden. Enjoy a perfect location 👌
Everything is perfect, every time there is a peak of people, the drinks are nice sea is nice it has a lot of stairs until you arrive . The only tip I can give is when it’s time to jump in the sea don’t hesitate for a moment it’s a bit slippery and maybe if you stop you will fall but not in a good way. Just jump

Great place to visit even though it’s not very large. Half the exhibits are marine life and the others amphibians and reptiles. All are rescue creatures which makes the place more special and worthwhile. We arrived a little early for the guided tour so waited in the cafe with a pager. Once it was time they notified us and we went in. Our guide was knowledgable and explained each enclosure in detail. We combine the ticket with the boat tour which was fantastic. If you are a student and can show ID then there is a reduction in ticket price.
Miltos was our tour guide, he was very enthusiastic and informative about the animals in the aquarium. We were fascinated. We also got to hold Cleo the snake at the end! The aquarium is quite small but packed with so many interesting sea creatures to learn about. A great educational day out and very reasonably priced.
Small but great entertainment for both adults and kids. You need to wait for a given time and for your guide. Our guide was awesome, was well prepared and knew almost all the names of animals in 5 different languages. James, you stole my heart with strzykwa and żaba😀 !
A very professional aquarium in Corfu. We took the boat tour and the aquarium tour back-to-back. I'm currently reviewing the aquarium. It's crucial to tour with a guide. First, they explain the creatures that live in Corfu and provide valuable information. Then, they move on to examples from around the world. The guide said that animals in poor health come here for treatment and then spend their lives here. For example, the crocodile can't even feed itself; they feed it directly, but it's recovered well now. It's a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. Don't worry about parking; there's a paid parking lot right in front.
The tour was really interesting. Our guide didn’t linger too much on one animal and we felt we got a really interesting experience out of it. Holding a snake was particularly exciting! The gift shop and canteen attached was also great. Well worth the visit on our last day in Corfu 🐠
The aquarium itself is quite small, so it can get a bit crowded during peak hours. However, the guide was very engaging and shared lots of interesting facts about the local marine life. The tour is short but enjoyable, especially if you’re visiting with kids. We also tried the underwater boat trip, which added a nice touch to the experience. It’s worth getting the combo ticket (aquarium + boat ride) – it’s more convenient and better value. The boat ride was fun: from the underwater cabin, you can see fish and the seabed, though the deck views are actually more enjoyable, with beautiful sea and coastline scenery. The cabin can feel a bit cramped and stuffy, so it’s nicer to spend more time outside. If you’re visiting in October, be aware that strong winds often cause boat trips to be cancelled, so it’s best to check the schedule in advance. Overall, it’s a pleasant and informative stop – great for families or anyone who wants a brief dive into the marine world.
Tiny aquarium. Good for kids and you receive a tour with an explanation of the species. They rescue fish and animals with many of the reptiles in old age now. Great for kids. Tours given in multiple languages. Reptile enclosures and aquariums are too small for the species that they contain.
Such an amazing experience, our guide was absolutely delightful and I’ve honestly not felt such joy at an aquarium! Highly recommended as they definitely take so much care!

BEST THING EVER. This was my first time visiting Corfu donkey rescue and I just fell in love with all the donkeys there. They have about 20 donkeys and a foal and it was wonderful to share the love with them. It’s amazing you get to go over all of the poles and enter the areas where the donkeys are just existing. You’re also allowed to brush the donkeys which was lovely. The donkeys are very well looked after. There were also lots of cats and dogs there which they seem to have rescued. It was a very heart warming place and they obviously care for their animals very very well. It was quite difficult to get to, but absolutely worth the ride. Do leave a donation as it helps look after the donkeys..
All around Corfu you see thousands of fridge magnets and othe souvenirs made in China with donkey motives. But you don't see not even one donkey, except this great place! This is so great that there are people who help those beautiful animals. Some are very slim - you can see they had hard time. Some are in perfect shape. But you can be sure all will have very good live in this great place.
We visited in September and were truly moved by what we saw. It’s a serene haven where these gentle animals can live freely, safely, and with the care they deserve. It’s clear that the team pours their heart into making the wellbeing of every resident—donkeys, cats, and dogs alike—a top priority. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the animals coexist in comfort and harmony. If you find yourself in Corfu, don’t miss the chance to visit. Your support helps ensure these beautiful souls continue to live with dignity and love.
A trip worth your time. The animals there are really cute and nice. You can pet all the cats, the donkeys and the dogs. They've really given us a good mood. Left a generous donation for giving us such a nice time and we hope to see more of them getting adopted or at least to have a good life in there. The staff is the friendliest ever, they try to help you with any request you have and they take such good care of all the animals. I have to say the road that leads there is very tricky and not the best, so be careful. A must visit if you go to Corfu and you love animals <3
An amazing place with people that truly care for the animals. Plenty of space and sun, clear rules for the safety of the animals and visitors. We were able to walk around freely, brush the donkeys, and pet the cats. Please make a donation after your visit!
They take so much care for their donkeys and they also house many cats. They are lovely and the donkeys seem to live in peace. Everybody is very respectful. It was a lovely visit.
Recently we visited the Corfu Donkey Rescue, and what a touching visit is was! The place is a real sanctuary and made a lasting impression. All the animals are well looked after and seem calm and content. The respect and love for the animals is clear: passionated volunteers, no entrance fee, no feeding by the visitors or unnecesary extras that take away focus/recourses on caring for the animals. All the more reason to donate as generously as possible on your way out :)
This place is incredible - was definitely the highlight of our vacation. Seeing the donkeys was wonderful and the volunteers and staff were great as well. We loved seeing the cats and donkeys interact, and you can also see the dogs that are up for adoption. Someone please adopt the white cat!! lol so so friendly and I cried when I had to leave

What a pleasant place to spend the day. The beach has plenty of space for everyone, people are very social, the water is perfect for snorkeling and exploring, the rocks are fun to jump off of. All in all, highly recommended.
The best beach in Corfu! There are some steps to go down but it’s not too difficult. Make sure you bring your own food because there is only a supermarket at the top of the steps and bring your own blanket as there’s no sunbeds but I would really recommend this beach the water is very clear and clean and blue..
Our favorite beach on the island! Great view, not much wind and beautiful white stone beach! Usually not too crowded, would recommend parking on top of the hill, roads get pretty narrow and have a lot of holes!
Amazing beach!!! Went there at the end of October and only a few other people were there. The small lane down to the car park is a bit mental …steep, narrow and very uneven …I was happy it wasn’t busy as it would have been difficult to pass other cars. The beach is only a short walk from the car park but even the walk is amazing due to the incredible views.
Breathtaking beach with clear blue water. Small tucked away beach but worth the visit. Variety of fishes to watch when snorkelling. They have a canteen on boat that serves food, hot drinks and refreshment. Beach has a roped climb to jump down into the water from higher rocks.
The beach is located approximately 700 meters away and can be reached on foot. It is recommended to go early in the morning, as parking becomes unavailable later in the day and the beach tends to get very crowded. The water is beautifully clear, with white pebbles and sand, but due to the natural springs in the area, it is considered the coldest sea on Corfu.
Very nice beach, but can get a little too crowded (in my opinion). But we stayed to watch the sunset and it was magical, and only a few people left. 😅 To access the parking lot, be prepared for a very narrow off-road path. From the car, there is a 15 minutes walk to the beach.
Whilst pretty popular, one of the more relaxing spots in Corfu and still so beautiful. No sunbeds or amenities like that which I think contributes to the peacefulness of the spot. I’d recommend parking at the top carpark (€5 all day, 800m walk to beach, plenty of spots here on a Tuesday at 1pm) particularly if you have a small rental car. This is because like the other reviews mention, the road starts to get rocky and dodgy. This is particularly so after the second car park (D.side Rovina) where it really isn’t even a proper road. Free of charge though.

Our favourite spot whilst visiting the area. Stunning views, lovely bar atmosphere and a lovely quiet sea access. The staff are lovely and the drinks are great!
Beautiful spot with pool and sea access. The food and drinks were affordable but finding a parking spot or sun bed requires luck and continuous walking around till someone leaves. However we only arrived at 2pm so maybe it is easier earlier on or even later.
We can’t say enough about this place! Dorina and Eleana were unforgettable hosts! Spectacular drinks, breathtaking views, and the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. Loved the cliff jumping, sea access, and the energy salad, yogurt bowl, and fries. We intended to explore more more of the island for this part of our trip but ended up coming back every day.
Great place to stay during the day. The concept is that you can sit or lie down anywhere you like, provided you spend at least 10 euros per person that day. That is a good deal! Renting a bed on the beach will cost the same, but does not come with food or drinks. The area is clean, with lots of shade, quite clean public toilets, some swinging benches, a hammock, and, of course, direct access to the sea. Jump in from several levels and enjoy the fish swimming around. We found the food we ordered of good quality. They offer only self-service, which can be a challenge if you’re bunked on a bed near the shoreline below, but you get a stunning view of the surrounding cliffs. So, if you have any, just send your kids to get food and drinks. :) If you sit near the bar, they sometimes bring your food to the table. Don’t forget to tip. We found pricing to be on par with any other facility in the area. So, nothing out of the ordinary. There is a parking lot near the entrance, but it was full when we arrived in the early afternoon (we slept in late). Hence we parked on the road. There is some music at the bar, but nothing too loud, and only audible within the vicinity of the bar. The pool is good, deep a one end. Even though we have a pool at our hotel, we still preferred this location, because it has the best of both: pool ánd sea.
Amazing view, free sunbeds, and really beautiful water where you can swim just near the bar. We ate a pizza and it was good. Would 100% recommend going there instead of going to the beach and pay 15€ for each sunbed.
Absolutely amazing place! Definitely recommend driving the narrow road down, there is parking for about 20 cars, we went there around 4pm and got one last spot. The place offers a pool and a shower and has a very romantic walk down the stairs to the sea. There are sea beds for free (minimum consumption of 10€ per person to take the bed). We had only drinks so cannot judge the food but all looked amazing.
A bit hidden, but really nice place with lots of tables and sunbeds on different terrain levels going down to a small "beach". Stunning view and very tasty drinks.
one of the best places in Corfu. the swimming spot is immaculate and the vibe of the place is amazing. they have a shower and clean bathrooms. the food and drinks are also very good. highly recommend to check it out.
