Long walk, but worth it! Beautiful place and a must-do in Rio Grande do Sul. Remember to bring a jacket as it is an open place at the top and quite windy!
Incredible views and beautiful nature! There are great hikes and the canyons are worthwhile seeing from the top and the bottom. Rain can close the hikes through the streams. There is dirt road access to the park entrance at the top that is shorter, or a longer non dirt road route. After the entrance there is a little bit of dirt road to the parking. Once parked, the hikes are amazing!! Loved my time here!
If you have the opportunity to see the canion, GO! I took a ton of pictures, and I don't think any of those shots does justice. I had my 20lb son strapped to my chest for this hike. I suggest being in good health if you plan to reach to the top. I may not try hiking that for another 10 years when my son can walk himself up that thing. At the top is a view like no other.
Wonderful! A must visit place when you go to Gramado or Canela. You can go through different trails but the Mirante Trail is the most impressive. Beautiful canions and nature.
Super beautiful place, there is a trail to arrive there, but worth every step, once you get there you feel like in the top of the world
The nature around is just stunning. Best rating for this. We came during the week so it wasn't crowded. But there are other things not working, we cannot give 5 stars. It's serious... Some things you need to know before you come to Cânion Fortaleza, as well as Itaimbrezinho: - make sure you can handle rough roads as a driver. Some parts are still in progress, some are just crazy roads. - there is no official information in English on the website right now. Translate with translator and hope it did its job well. - if you start from Porto Alegre: I recommend to come here by car. There is literally no good option to come here with public transport. Maybe rent one, which can handle rough terrain... - as a foreigner it's not possible to get a license for a drone rn. You cannot register on ANAC without CPF. Just Brazilian citizens have one. A problem that needs to be solved (you can't book a bus online without a cpf as well... How to travel then?) Maybe national offices could at least communicate the local registrations for drones international? Less annoying work for everyone. - you want to do the left way at the waterfall? There is no sign where the trail continues, you have to walk at the guideline which normally marks borders, we asked later, after giving up finding a objectively good path. You're supposed crossing the river close to the edge of the waterfall (you maybe get wet, but bathing is forbidden, lol). That's not a trail, that's adventure without good information, man. You cannot make good decisions for yourself with this. Big saftey issue. Please, take it serious! That's not okay! The company which is responsible for the park at the moment needs to work on several things. - providing more information in general PROACTIVE - if maintaining some trails due to weather conditions etc. isn't possible, you MUST provide these information to all visitors when arriving. With well placed signs etc. Depends on you, but it MUST work. The barely placed wooden planks you put on muddy and wet spots on the trail once are not enough to pass the mud. Visitors are paying a lot of money for the entrance to park infrastructure. So do your work. We were there during the week, I've seen at least 10 people standing idle for a long time, just staring at their mobile phones, not making any attempt to help. We unfortunately don't speak Portuguese, but as a national park maintaining company, working with tourists, you have to give information in English as well. It's international standard, welcome to the 21th century. Without our Portuguese speaking friend translating for us, this trip would have ended in a disaster. PLEASE train your employees. - don't blame the people if they are criticizing valid points. Be professional like estimated and give valid arguments, not your own opinion. Opinion is for private life, not for work. Thanks for reading this review and noticing.
Be aware of the entrance charge, which can be pricey if you are planning to pay for the whole family. I won't post the fee here because prices go up pretty often in Brazil. The views are stunning as long as it's not cloudy or rainy. Check the weather forecast before booking any tours!
Incredible energetic place! Was here where I had faced the most strong wind that I had ever seen. Perfect views! Miss me words to explain how magic was my visit to this place. I truly recommend the visit 👍🏼. P. S. : make sure to bring with you water and some snacks.

The canyons park is good. The 3.5km walk to see the canyon exit is very good, and the landscape is very impressive. Good to go with your family. Remember to get a jacket before to go: the weather changes quickly.
The most beautiful part of this place is the nature. Therefore there's no have safe structure for your children or pets. There's no signals or posts of directions on the road. The road that we used was very straight. But, I have a good point to explain: the view is exciting! And there's a lot of plant types. You'll take a lot of photos on end of the day, when the sun is running away.
Magnificent Place. Worth every jolt of the 20+20 km of dust road. Go to the old house at the end of the short trail, drink a coffee and get in touch with the resident.
Amazing place and free entrance. No climbing but need to walk a lot to get there. Longer course is better.
Really beautiful!!!
There's an amazing view!!

Very beautiful views even with fog. The best part was the little house that sells homemade pastel!
This park is for the rich, not for normal people, to whom it should be accessible! The greed is disgusting. With all the taxes wasted in Brazil, there was not money left to make national heritage accesible to the general public? Whoever is responsible for this absurd entrance fee and commercial industrialization of national heritage should be ashamed, and the state lawmakers should do something. In Rio de Janerio, National Parques are for free. Poor or rich, anyone can enter for free. In Rio Grande do Sul, all parks are difficult to enter (registration processes for national forests are stupidly beaurocratic, and extreme fees for national parks). Its beyond absurd, especially considering how much nature has been destroyed. Never seen anything like in Rio Grande do Sul before. Not in Brazil and not in any other country. Basically no forest or park where people can just go for free without paying fees or registrating 3 days in advance through beaurocratic application forms, having to wait for approval. Absurd and unjust. Its a disgrace!
Amazing place, but be mindful of the weather. I've been told that the winter is the best season to visit. If you visit during the summer you might end up only seeing fog like I did. 🙃
Such a beautiful landscape!! A tropical version of the Grand Canyon. A must see
The park is really beautiful and definitely worth visiting. They ask for donations as the government no longer supports it fully or at all! The information centre is in need of updating as is the picnic area and some of the paths.
Sleeping in onorio camping. Amazing place with amazing people

If you have experience with simple trails you dont need to go with a guide. BUT. you need a good gps. I used the garmin 66sr NOT a phone gps. There is no signal. Its hard to find the trail sometimes, especially when crossing the river. Snake protection is recommended and dont touch anything. Go long sleeved, and with long pants, vegetation is dense. Families or non biologists, I strongly recommend a guide. especially if there is rain its dangerous quickly so you need to be able to ‚read‘ the sky and weatherforcast. Follow me on instagram for nice nature content! @basilminder
Brilliant place to visit. Well worth the hike! Local guide is essential.

(Translated by Google) In June 2018, Malacara Canyon was not allowed to be visited from above, so we did the trail from below and it was great, accompanied by the guide Giovani Bitencourt, as it is not allowed to do it without a guide, and he guided us very well. Since it is dry season, most of the trail is through rocks. At the end of the trail there is a pool and I couldn't resist... I loved seeing the canyon in the lower part by Praia Grande.

(Translated by Google) For those who are used to hiking, it is an easy level. But you need to go with a guide. And you cannot camp. It is a peaceful place and for those who are going to do the Rio do Boi, I recommend doing it first. I really liked it. It is possible to do it in half a day. Just don't do it if there is an imminent forecast of rain. (Original) Para quem é acostumado com trilhas é nível fácil. Mas necessário entrar com guia. E não pode acampar. Lugar tranquilo e para quem for fazer o rio do boi eu recomendo fazer está antes. Gostei bastante. Possível fazer em meio dia. Apenas não pode fazer com previsão eminente de chuva
