Purmamarca

Purmamarca is a village in the Jujuy province of northwest Argentina. It's set at the base of a striking, multi-hued mountain called the Seven Colors Hill. From the village, the Paseo de los Colorados trail leads into the surrounding desert landscapes for views of the mountain. Adobe houses line the streets, and 9 de Julio Square hosts a popular crafts market. Nearby is the centuries-old Santa Rosa de Lima church.

The Seven Colors Hill is a true gem in Purmamarca. At sunset and especially sunrise, the colours are popping and it's a perfect time to get some pictures. Walking around the central square, there's plenty of locals selling false alpaca clothing all made in Bolivia. There, you have a great view over the hill and don't really need to pay for a better observation site.
Great experience. The Mirador is just in front of the hill and you have great view You can then do the walk, not difficult at all and very nice
The walk around the Hill of Seven Colors is definitely worth it! The trail takes about 1 hour and costs around 1000 ARS. It’s an easy hike, not difficult at all, and the views are absolutely stunning. A super nice and relaxing activity to do while in Purmamarca!
Absolutely spectacular walk! I was charged 300 pesos for the loop but usually that’s the Argentinian national price (despite being a foreigner myself). It’s so worth it and also you can use the same ticket the next day if you want.
A great stop between Salta and Salt Flats. Lots of food hotel and shopping options. Viewing platform and mountain hiking area.
For avoiding crowds and heat go there around 4:30pm… its free and amazing short walk :)
Worth stopping at a panoramic view spot when entering the town and also go for a hike on the actual mountain.
Magnificent place and a very beautiful mountain! If it's not sunny the colors are not seen very clearly so plan your trip very well.

Lovely atmosphere. You can see how the town comes together here (and tourists of course!)
The bustling and vibrant central square is brimming with numerous souvenir vendors offering a vast selection of items, ranging from llama keychains to pillowcases, all available at reasonable prices. There's a lively atmosphere with live music and locals enjoying themselves with dancing and beer nearby, making it an entertaining spectacle to witness.
Lively and colorful main square with hundreds off souvenir stands. You get everything from llama keychains to pillow cases, all to fair prices. Delicious torta asadas can be bought for 30 pesos in every corner of the square. There are often live music and locals dancing or drinking beer nearby, fun to watch!
Typical central square. There is good view to color mountains
Dozens of stalls and shops all selling the same things. How do they make a living? However it's lively and very colourful with all the wonderfully coloured scarves and towels. The main reason to visit is to see the Cerro de Seite Colors. Hill of 7 colours which is just behind the plaza. That is amazing
Super cute square that holds the local vendors and good spots for photos!
Great spot to people watch and buy souvenirs in Purmamarca. Lots of vendors setup around the square. And we really liked the tortillas filled with cheese and corn (relleno de queso y choclo).
soo lovely village! go there if you want to relax for a few days. the plaza 9 offers traditional stuff on a daily base.

This town surrounding this church is just wonderful, while traveling around on day-trips we still came back here to spend the night. This church and this beautiful wise tree is holding the community together. I like this town the most. For north european and scandinavian here is some delightful estethics and cleanliness and order. Seems like people live well, their houses are well taken care of and looks like everyone is enjoying the beauty of this valle even the Virgen.
Nice 17th century church. As Lithuanian visiting I find this town beautifully hypnotising. Nice place to stop by.
It's hard to miss this cool white church in the center of town. Worth stopping by to check it out. I also enjoyed the old tree in the courtyard.

What a creepy and beautiful experience all at once. Keep your wits about you if it’s been storming. The roads are well marked but you won’t be able to go more than 20 kph in some places if the fog hits you.
Beautiful drive, its very high and cold up there. Don’t forget your coats to enjoy the view!

(Translated by Google) The smallest in Argentina, with a giant soul Facing Purmamarca's main square, stands a building that, although modest in size, holds enormous symbolic significance: the Purmamarca Town Hall, considered the smallest in the country and one of the last ten traditional town halls still standing in Argentina. Built in the mid-19th century, possibly during the May Revolution celebrations, this town hall is distinguished by its four-arched gallery, a rare feature in the region's architecture. Its adobe walls are twice the thickness of today's buildings, and its ceiling of cardón planks, along with the mud cake covering the roof, make it a living testament to ancient construction techniques. Today, it functions as a cultural hall and exhibition center, hosting art exhibitions, community activities, and events celebrating the Purmamarca identity. Its proximity to the Tourist Information Office makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the town. Although small, the Purmamarca Town Hall is one of the most photographed places in town, along with the Hill of Seven Colors. Its presence in front of the craft fair and the Santa Rosa de Lima Church places it at the symbolic heart of the town.
