Divine. A well cared for country church that receives many more visitors than most. People swarm to see the Durin door but most likely miss the quiet and peaceful interior or the ancient and interesting history of the building. There’s actually a queue of people who wait to take a picture in front of the famous door at many times of the day. I think my favorite thing was the bells ringing while inside the church.
St Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold is a real delight — a peaceful gem full of history, beauty, and character. The famous north door, framed by ancient yew trees, almost feels like something out of a fairy tale (many visitors even say it inspired Tolkien) — it’s definitely a photo highlight. Inside, the church is calm and welcoming. The stained-glass windows are beautiful, and there’s a strong sense of heritage throughout — old gravestones, classic architectural details, lovely memorials. The churchyard is quiet and well-kept. Even though it’s right in a visitor-populated town, once you step in, there’s a serene space to pause and reflect away from the bustle. If you go, try to visit early or later in the day to avoid the crowds around the door, so you can truly soak in the atmosphere. All in all, well worth a visit.
We had to see the famous door that inspired Tolkien and pictures don’t do it justice. There’s usually a small line to get pictures but nothing horrible. There’s usually church itself is also very nice and it’s free to enter.
St Edward’s is a beautiful and welcoming parish church. The Gothic Revival architecture is striking, especially the lantern tower that fills the interior with light. It has a sense of history and peace while still being very much alive as a community space. The atmosphere inside is warm and reverent, making it a lovely place for prayer, reflection, or attending Mass. A real gem in Golders Green – both for its spiritual life and its architectural charm.
We visited as a family to see the Doors of Durin. There was a it of a wait to take a picture however it was worth the wait. There is free parking right next to the church and it is easy to find. The Door is beautiful and I can see why slot of people visit this sight.
Stow on the Wild is a nice town in the middle of the Cotswold. Not much to do. Not much to see. Just sit. Sip a pint. And watch life slowly roll by. Busy town center. Parking is a hassle. A town one would spend an hour at, unless you stay for more than a pint !! My pictures reflect ALL there is to see in Stow.
St Eduard's church it's a Grade I listed building dates back to the 11th century, it's a beautiful old church in Stow-on- the-Wold.The famous tree north door it's absolutely magical and one of a kind. The rumour has it that it inspired J.J.R. Tolkien to write "Doors of Durin"
Finally made it to this absolutely charming, charismatic, fantastical doorway with very old Yew trees either side. Believed to be an inspiration in the writings of J R R Tolkien. Well worth a visit but try early morning or late afternoon due to tourists especially thru the summer months.

Very helpful and polite staff. Lovely and quiet 🤫 There's a building site outside my house in Sandy Lane court, Upper Rissington (for over 2 years now) so I can't work from home as it's far too noisy and gives me a headache 😞 So this library has saved my life!!!!! 😭
Visiting Stow-on-the-Wold is a must for any visitor to Cotswold. This market town offers everything to a visitor be it a refreshing stroll along the High Street, to pub & restaurants, shopping or just have a laid back view of the Tourists who flock this place, for a very good reason. Will want to come back again & again.
Nice old building in the middle of Stow on the Wold
A good place to visit before you start your journey. Be sure to pick up a local map for the walking trails!
Just the corner, the bus stop is there.
The Library is first class, very helpful and polite staff, great choice of books and if the one you want isn't there, they will soon get it for you.
Staff were very helpful and suggested a walk for us to do, and sold us a map and guide to it for 10p.

Went to the BSB meet, Saturday and Sunday. The circuit seems well managed and easy to navigate. Really enjoyable weekend, the track is very easy to navigate for viewing points and lots of good areas to choose from. The ticket prices were good and no extra charge for parking. We had a fab weekend
Great day at the Ferrari challenge event. Event wasn't too busy, and unfortunately a crash on the qualifying laps limited the amount of racing we say for the session. Happily no injuries just a fair chunk of damage to one of the barriers.
I went here for the truck racing with my family, iv also been for super bikes. The place is amazing so much action and always so many merchandise stands. They really know how to put a show on. The price is really great and with kids been free entry its a must vist place
Regular user of the track as this is the closest one we have to us , highly recommend doing a track day if you haven’t done one yet, even if you don’t want to track your own bike you can use small boy bike hire as they are at most events and can give you the knowledge & guidance needed to start your track day journey if your unsure how to start.
Excellent track, i travelled down from Scotland to be part of the BTCC weekend with my son. I was very impressed by how well presented the track was and how clean the Circuit remained all weekend. Plenty of toilets and vendors all all the circuit. I booked in up for the Alliance NAPA Vip experience also which was fantastic..... I managed to score maximum Dad points. Moving forward I'd like to see the park have better camping facilities, porta showers and loos plus an outside cleaning sink are not for me... Even though they were kept spotless. I look forward to returning in the future
Absolutely awesome weekend watching the touring cars, mini’s, Porsche’s etc racing! The café breakfasts and coffee were excellent too and not overpriced and was a brilliant and memorable weekend! A great place to visit, ample parking in adjacent fields and this was our first time here!
I came to Donington Park for the Download Festival and it was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was electric, the sound quality was incredible despite the huge open-air setup, and the energy from the crowd was next level. The site is massive but well-organized — plenty of signage, food and drink stalls, and toilets (though expect queues during peak times). The location itself adds to the magic. Whether you’re a music fan or just love big events, there’s something powerful about being in a place with such a legendary motorsport and rock history. Camping was a bit muddy (it is Download, after all!), but it’s all part of the experience. If you’re going for a festival or a race weekend, Donington Park delivers. Can’t wait to go back next year! 🤘
Had a lovely time watching my first motorsports event it was a great atmosphere and more locations to watch from than you can imagine even on a pretty packed day having nice next to track section nice grass hills and some grandstands (they might be paid but I'm not sure) it's easy to get around from track to podium to food and sell stands even when there are a lot of people

I visit the Fosse Gallery each time Sharon has an Exhibition or whenever I am visiting Stow-on-the-Wold. The Gallery is a gorgeous quiet haven to visit with the most wonderful, intimate atmosphere, always a warm welcome from Sharon and always the most amazing number of wonderful paintings for sale on the walls. I have bought many of the paintings by my favourite artists for my new cottage and they all look so good in their new home. It is extremely hard to come out of the Gallery without buying a painting! I could not recommend this Gallery more highly for a visit - please put on your list when next visiting Stow-on-the-Wold or even make that special journey to visit - you will not be disappointed.
I have never been one who knows much about art, so walking into an art gallery was a new experience for me. But I need not have worried. Owner Sharon was both welcoming, fun and had as much time as I needed to show me and explain the original works for sale on her walls. She is a true enthusiast for promoting artists of all gendres. Since visiting, I've purchased a couple of paintings online from her website and they have arrived carefully wrapped. I love both the works I now own and appreciate them every day. Thank-you Sharon.
I try and visit the Fosse Gallery every time I am in Stow on the Wold. There is always a different exhibition on, be it solo show or mixed exhibition and I like the variety and love the painterly feel of the shows. Set in a beautiful, calm space, Sharon and her staff are always friendly and helpful but never pushy, and I like that. I have bought quite a few paintings from the Fosse Gallery over the years, the gallery website is informative and easy to use and when shipped to my home address the paintings arrive in perfect condition at no extra charge. Highly recommended.
Had a delightful trip to the Fosse Gallery, fantastic variety of acclaimed artists in a stunning setting at the Fosse. By far the best gallery outside of London. The owner was lovely, very knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming. Will be returning!
I absolutely love this gallery - it’s a must visit if you find yourself in Stow-on-the-Wold! Such a welcoming atmosphere and whether you’re an art enthusiast or casual visitor, it makes for a delightful experience. Will definitely be back!
This is a regular stop off when we visit the Cotswolds. A beautiful gallery in a prime location of Stow-on-the-Wold. A lovely owner who takes the time to talk you through the current exhibition as well as other artists she showcases. I highly recommend it if visiting the area!
This is a great little gallery in stow, with a variety of figurative artists including mick Rooney, Louis Turpin, Charlie Calder-Potts, David carpanini, Lydia Corbett, and George underwood. Always a very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.
If you plan to visit Stow on the Wold you must make time to go along to The Fosse Gallery. You won't be disappointed, the owner Sharon Wheaton has a fantastic eye, and the art on the walls is always the best, varied and very price conscious. The Fosse Gallery team are a delight and always willing to share their knowledge.

As beautiful as we expected. The drive is dreamy, but don't forget to be cautious about the curves and turns on the single country roads.
Cotswolds is as described, definitely the most beautiful villages of Britain. Bibury is extremely gorgeous. We went on a hot summer day so it was packed with tourists. But I absolutely loved this place! ❤️❤
Excellent scenery with quaint villages with a good variety of pubs and cafes. The locals are always friendly with walkers and the local footpaths well signposted.
It is quite a big place to visit in one day, so plan ahead and make a map of places that ypu wosh to see... All are worth it. Some are totally free, others require a ticket, which can be purchased online or at the spot.
I went during the week and it wasn't to busy at all, fairly expensive but worth it, lovely view with seating, a real nice place to sit and have a coffee or a a hawkstone beer 🍺.
Burton on the Water what an Idyllic location, love this place. So happy we can make properties look so different with a little TLC.
Met some vintage car fans in Bibury dressed like they stepped out of the Gatsby era. The village was small and super charming—just like a postcard. Felt like a fun trip back in time!
Parking is quite a challenge, and it’s a bit of a walk with not-so-helpful signs along the way. But the old houses are absolutely charming and beautifully preserved — definitely worth the visit.
