Lovely day out enjoying taking photos of the races. The place is nice, well kept and the staff are great. Special mention to Donna who was really helpful and went out of her way to make the best of our experience at the racecourse. Thank you!
An absolutely wonderful day out! Excellent for families, couples, anyone who loves horses, and the excitement of racing. Very well organized and well laid out, lots of food options, lots of seating for those who need it. Loved previewing the horses in the paddock before placing my 2 pound bet. Highly recommended!
Went to a 90s event at the races. Wanted to tick it off my wish list to go to the race track and place a few bets. As events go it wasn't my cup of tea but if you like the races then you'll probably enjoy the event.
Great day at the races. You can get a bus or Uber from Edinburgh . Good value to attend . Staff were friendly throughout . Great mix of people on group Party’s or those that know what they are doing.
Our first horse race — and we’re so glad we chose to experience it in Scotland! We had such a great time at Musselburgh Racecourse. The view was great, and the free shuttle from parking was easy and comfortable. We even had an amazing chat with the parking attendants — they were so friendly and welcoming, which really set the tone for the day. We saw several races, and even though it was a bit drizzly, about half of the general admission seating is covered, so we stayed pretty dry. The fish and chips were delicious, and the overall vibe was just fun and relaxed. 10/10 experience!
Racing with style ! Very Exciting especially as you can get up close to these amazing race horses. Everyone s a winner
Attended as an owner at this racecourse and the first impression is of the quality of the staff. Amongst the most friendly of any staff I have encountered at a racecourse. The course itself had plenty of eating options and the owners marquee was very comfortable. Not sure why but the place lacked a bit of atmosphere. Great night out and definitely worth a visit.
Had an amazing day with colleagues from work. Good vibes and music and plenty of viewing space. Massive queues for everything though, from drinks to food and toilets. So a few more options will help. Commentary is not clearly audible in all areas.

This is run by the National Trust and I think it would be cheaper in the long run to become a national trust member (especially if you are going to visit more national trust places). But please check the prices before you go! We are members of the National Trust so took advantage of this here and can say we had a great day, even if it rained for most of it. We just about managed the Market Garden without getting wet. We did not manage to get around all the walks but as you can see on the estate map pictures I've posted there are some nice walks weather permitting. They have a very nice coffee shop that serves loads of different things. We used it whilst we waited for our guided tour around the House. They seem to go at set times and it is probably better to book in advance, especially during the holiday periods. You can get the tour times and book on their web site. All the staff were friendly & helpful especially the lady that took us around the house who was very knowledgeable of the family and house. It was well worth a visit.
We had a wonderful visit here. The guided tour was excellent. Our guide was very knowledgeable and brought the history of the house to life. There are so many fascinating stories behind the place, it’s definitely worth a visit. The café was lovely too, with good food and a cosy atmosphere. A truly beautiful spot to spend an afternoon.
Newhailes House is in Musselburgh, which is on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Built in the 1700s as a family home, it's a lovely home with gardens and woods to stroll around. The NTS has made a huge effort to provide facilities for children with a few crazy golf holes in the courtyard and an enclosed play area (£4 per child at the time of our visit). The courtyard entrance is home to the shop, cafe, and i believe a potter at the weekends. There are a couple of options for the guided tour, so I'd recommend booking a timeslot in advance. The house is not as large as you might expect from the outside as it's only one room deep, but there is still plenty to see. The main floor has beautiful period furniture and collections as you would expect, upstairs is a little more modern as this is where the last Lady of the House lived until she gifted it to the NTS. Surprisingly, it didn't come into Trust ownership till the late 1990s and opened in the early 2000s. There are stairs up to the main entrance and again inside to the upper floor so not wheelchair accessible. The courtyard, shops and cafe would all be accessible but not the house itself. There is a couple of walks through the woods and grounds which are popular and not too long with some beautiful scenery. We got the impression some people come to visit the grounds which would be free of charge, without visiting the house. All in all a lovely house and worth the visit.
Spectacular. The exterior is shabby but, as Lynn, the tour guide said, when you enter you will be "gobsmacked". The tour was hugely informative. The building has a remarkable family history and remarkable furnishings etc. Well worth a visit. Cannot speak for the gardens...we were in the middle of Storm Amy, so gave then a miss. A family tour is also available, with things to entertain the children.
Lived around the corner from here and never knew this gem was there. Nice cafe and a great place for kids to play or to simply walk the dog around the fields
Gorgeous park, brilliant for dogs, and the playpark was brilliant. Looking forward to the Santa experience at Christmas
We have visited Santa here for the last 6 yrs and it is always such a magical experience.

The Brunton Theatre is a lovely venue with plenty of space it has spacious bar on ground level and first floor with plenty comfortable seating. Easy access into auditorium with comfortable seating and good leg room. Large stage area good veiw from all seats . Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar prices quite reasonable. Parking in area after 6 30 was close. The have many types of shows on all year well worth a visit.
It's so sad and upsetting that an institution and happy place to visit is too close and be mothballed. Once again the council having no money and the theatre to shut and become an eyesore for.Musselburgh. We've grown up with the theatre and now it's too close. Ah well a huge place for squatters or a charity shop that will close down after a few weeks. There's plenty health issues with the building. RAAC on the roof and the place riddled with damp. Asbestos Windows will get put in graffiti. Welcome to Musselburgh.
Only open when shows are on... better if regular ticket office hours, say if open when bistro is open Great bar and seated area Good variety of artists, films and community shows Acoustics and staff are super
Fantastic night at the panto !Went with the family to see Cinderella, don't think I've had such a laugh in ages. 😆 The cast where absolutely amazing from the young dancers to the main characters, a special mention for Mince & Tatties aka The Ugly Sisters 🤣🤣pmsl. My Son Michael and his daughter Ella where picked to go up on stage with Mince & Tatties, much to Michael's horror but our amusement 😉 Thanks for a great night guy's. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great classic venue, intimate sized auditorium. Nice cafe and easy local parking. Friendly and helpful staff.
Love this place. Went to the panto and not for the first time. Great venue
Lovely little theatre. Plenty buses so no need to drive. Will return for other shows. Lovely little cafe.
Only been here the once, but should go back - pleasant venue, and easy to get to by bus from central Edinburgh, so not only for locals!

Great little pub, lovely decor. 8 pumps on bar, 6 being used when i visited, would have been nice to have more local choice but good still
Great small pub with lots of seating space, let us watch the game we asked for. Overall satisfied with the service!
Rare thing- a proper traditional pub with authentic atmosphere. Small and very busy on friday evening. Clearly very popular. Guinness delivered professionally- perfect temperature and condition. Staff hospitable and friendly.
Great traditional pub, great atmosphere. Large selection of ale. Friendly staff, bar, snug, lounge and beer garden 🍺
Only had time to pop in for a quick half whilst waiting for takeaway, but seemed like a great place, with a great selection of beer! Sport on TVs.
This is a classic bar well worthy of a visit - a traditional old bar with a great choice of Cask ales and top class service.
Great little find off the High Street at lunchtime- some great Real Ales and a proper pub after the tourist traps in Edinburgh - nice little snug out the back - enjoyed it so much we went back later the same day
The Staggs has to be Britain's best small pub. Fantastic selection of beers and lagers, served by welcoming and friendly staff.

Beautiful garden, 40mins-hour to see it. Very tranquil, friendly gardeners. On ride parking. Combine it with a visit to Newhailes National Trust. About 10 minutes drive away.
Beautiful garden maintained by the National Trust for Scotland. Nice for a gentle stroll around. Dog friendly as long as kept on a leash. There were a few areas that were out of bounds to the public due to weather/maintenance but all well sign posted. Larger grassland area on the lowest level. V.small car park at front (3 cars max). Parking is free as is entry if a NTS member.
A beautiful garden, well maintained. Four stars because it’s relatively small compared to say, a Botanical Garden, so you can’t spend much time there. But it’s huge compared to a domestic one! And it’s very peaceful.
Beautiful gardens. Made better for our visit by the flawless weather. The entrance is slightly hidden and could be made more obvious. We drive straight past it. Parking is in the road outside.
Nice gardens, good to visit if you are also doing Newhailes house and gardens
Beautiful little garden, with woodland walks around a pond with ducks and if you are lucky a Deer or two. The parking is a bit confusing, but we just parked on the street outside.
Car parking is a bit confusing. The sign say park garden wall just not sure where garden wall is so parked across the road. The gardens are well kept With lots of seating places around. The fairy house trail is wonderful and the houses are well made and decorated. When we walked around the trail there is thick bushes and trees and we saw three deers just walking about. The toilet is located in the conservatory
It is a nice little garden. The glasshouse was under development when we were there, so we want to go back when it is done ;) The garden itself has two parts. Close to the building the proper garden and farther away a forest area wich is I guess under development. It will take a couple of years for the trees planted recently to grow, but still the garden worth a visit or two. :)

Incredible greens, Incredible history. The oldest course on earth,, and one that every golfer should have on their bucket list
Perfect location🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿With Alot off history⛳️Great Course- With a Cheeky little Clubhouse👀👍🏻
What an amazing way to perk up our golf vacation to the Edinburgh area. If you have the opportunity to play Old Musselburgh, snap it up. This wonderful historic gem of a golf course should not be missed. One of the oldest courses in Scotland, inside a racetrack, where the Open Championship was contested over 100 years ago....what's not to love about this? The course oozes personality and we could easily see how it must have mesmerized all of those who came to challenge it. Musselburgh Old boasts a friendly Pro Shop staff and the best Captain in all of Scotland - thanks for everything Stevie - look forward to putting a tee in the ground with you again. Maybe over on my side of the pond next time. Check out this 9 hole wonder - you won't be disappointed!
Play tbis morning tee off 09.20 in a fourball. There was a fourball behind us ,but we did not hold them up in anyway.Teeing of on.the 7th I was standing by the waiting for my turn when a golfball landed within a 2feet of me. There was no shout of four from the group behind. Asked why he did not shout his responce was yey name of mcmillan reported to clubhouse. If this is way of playing golf should not be allowed on the course.
A very nice place to spend a sunny afternoon. Pace of play was great on a Saturday Afternoon, even for a single. It's not the best track in Scotland, but there is something to be said for having played the oldest course in the world. Will likely come back to play again.
Borrowed a hickory set. It was a learning experience. 😆👍💯
Great condition, good greens and a test for all levels of golfers. Not to mention its the oldest playing golf course anywhere. A must play.
Played with hickories this is a great challenge. Only nine holes with a clear run it's an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Something to remember how the game should be played.
