Wonderful house with links to some of the most significant moments in British History i.e. the Gunpowder Plot. The climb up the spiral staircase to views from the roof top is definitely worth it. The garden is just as special as the house, don't miss the two churches which are magnificent too. It has the usual restaurant and gift shop. Worth a visit.
This was just brilliant day out. Well worth visit. The staff were absolutely amazing so friendly and helpful. The house was beautiful and the walk to the roof was well worth it. The history of the house was amazing. But please arrive early for the visit to walk inside the house. You will not be disappointed. The grounds and the gardens are absolute credit to the ground staff. Beautifully maintained. Lovely place to take picnic loads of space. Plenty of parking as well. Great day out.
Another fantastic National Trust house. Hundreds of years of history beautifully preserved. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. A climb of the spiral staircase rewards with wonderful views of the gardens. The gardens themselves are stunning with multiple areas to explore, the lakeside walk is a must. The usual excellent cafe and bookshop on site as well as the gift shop.
A wonderful place steeped in history. The house and grounds are both very much worth investigating. The spiral staircase climb up to the roof rewards you with incredible views across the area and makes the effort worthwhile. The grounds have some beautiful areas with the walled garden definitely worth a look. The Orangery is a beautiful building.
A beautiful house and garden. Plenty to see, especially the walled gardens. Lovely history to the house, gunpowder plot and Sir Walter Raleigh both feature. We climbed the stairs to the roof and the views are stunning. Nice tearoom with seating indoors and in the courtyard.
Absolutely superb, the architecture, the history, the characters! How could one family dodge so many bullets? Like Boris the bullet dodger in lock stock etc. Great gardens and walks, I really wished we lived closer by.
Great place to walk around, lovely Riverside Walk. Manor home is beautifully preserved, be interesting to see how moved forward in 2026 with ownership/stewardship changes with the family who live in one wing being more involved. Hoping National Trust members continue able to use it, and doesn't go down the fetes/wedding-only route!
Lovely visit. Car park needs some filling in. Staff and volunteers were all really friendly and helpful. Make sure to grab the house timed entry ticket before they all go. Long queue for the cafe which was only serving a limited menu of pasty’s, cake, drinks and sandwiches.

I visited the house at the ABR festival it was great to have the privilege to walk around the home. I believe the family still use the upper floors and public are aloud to look around the lower level. Staff were very informative and helpful.
Great open field ,nice greenery around ,had the midlands air festival there it was great
Great family festival. Cleanest festival I have ever attended. In 4 days did not any litter across the whole site. House sits on a mound overlooking the estate. Spectacular site for any event.
Hi was here for the ABR Motorcycle Festival 2025 and it's an amazing venue for hosting such an awesome Event. Thank you all for allowing the event to take place here and also thanks to the ABR organisation for such a well organised event 😀
Beautiful venue, remote, a long drive to the house... Creates suspense. Picture don't do it justice. Truly a beautiful, well preserved stately home, isolated in the English countryside. Has dramatic sweeping steps leading up to the main hall. Lifts available for access too. Staff at venue friendly, welcoming and professional.
Fabulous house tour, very interesting place and still in use by the family now and for over 400 years. Well worth a mooch around.
Lovely hall and grounds, it can very dusty and windy during summer months be sure to wear a mask if you have lung ailments.
Great days at ABR meeting friends and making new ones. Best of all on motorcycles

Hidden gem and great new addition to Marriott’s portfolio. The hotel is in beautiful historic grounds featuring a topiary garden, church and old village. We were in a house deluxe room overlooking the gardens which I would highly recommend (Note that barn rooms are in a separate complex that requires walking outside to get to the breakfast, bar and spa) We stayed during autumn and it was lovely and cosy inside the main house with fireplaces lit, dimmed lighting and a great atmosphere - I imagine it must be lovely here at Christmas time (they do a three day package). The spa though basic offers a simple, clean pool for swimming and the spa treatments were extremely good with well trained therapists. As others have said some parts of the hotel like the corridors are a bit old/worn but that is expected with an old property, our room appeared to have mostly brand new furniture and new power shower facilities, good heating/cooling system, along with Molton brown toiletries which elevated the experience. For the price paid the hotel is incredibly good value. We had breakfast included which was a standard buffet and decent quality but served in a beautiful old dining room, we had dinner here on one evening which was an exceptional setting. All the staff we engaged with were very friendly and welcoming. Overall I would highly recommend staying here a few nights for a relaxing break and getting Ubers, which are readily available to the local town and attractions. My only feedback for improvements is the beds/bedding could be a bit softer and there should be some drawers in the room to store clothes, our robes were missing in our room on arrival too. Lastly, there seemed to be a lot of staff members standing around and we thought they could be a bit more efficient, attentive and professional so perhaps some more training there.
Spent a lovely weekend here, the place has great buildings and beautiful surrounding grounds. Rooms were clean and large, beds were comfortable, linen and towels were clean, bathroom was large although the bath was small. The advertised king size bed were two singles pushed zipped together, which felt like a bit of a con. The carpet in the hallway had dark satins on it, evidence of some previous flood? Breakfast was lovely. We ate there Saturday evening but weren’t impressed with the very limited menu and mainly cold choice of starters. Even the waiter admitted it was a poor choice and said he would mention it to the chef if he wasn’t carrying anything sharp at the time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The few times I needed to go to reception there was no one there. After waiting I had to go and ask other nearby staff, who seemed preoccupied with moving the table, if they could find the receptionist. I had read some reviews and the manager had replied with “oh what a shame you didn’t tell us at the time!” The single ‘king’ rooms were £254 with breakfast and cancellation, the twin was £267, which was pricey for what was delivered! When we checked out, we mentioned the choice in the restaurant and the lack of ground decaf coffee to the receptionist, they apologised but there was no evidence of anything being logged so feedback could be passed on to the manager, so nothing is going to change there. As lovely as the location was, purely on the basis of the food, we wouldn’t stay there again. Asked for a decaf latte and caught the waiter adding instant coffee to hot milk, no!
We had a lovely stay overall. The hotel itself is beautiful, with great views, and the staff everywhere—from reception to the spa and restaurant—were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, a typical high-standard Marriott experience. The only real downside was dinner. Despite having a 7 pm reservation, we ended up sitting for 2 hours before finishing, and our 8-year-old son was nearly falling asleep at the table. The main dish (meat) arrived cold, though fortunately it wasn’t charged. Still, paying £75 for two adults and one child felt a bit steep for the experience. Overall, it’s a great hotel with wonderful service, but dinner service could definitely be improved.
Tldr: put in the wrong room, and the room was mouldy. The staff didn't care. After waiting 10 days for a response to my complaint, I got £50ish worth of points as an apology. Really disappointed with this one. I was very exited to visit for a relaxing weekend, and as we drove up the drive it appeared we had picked well - first impressions are great. But it turned out to be a complete let down. When we arrived, the room wasn't ready - fine, we were early - but I could see on my Bonvoy app that we had been moved from a king room to a twin. I enquired at reception, assuming this was a mistake, but was told it was in fact an upgrade (I was told this was to "balance the rooms" mind you, just in case I had thought it was a perk). I asked if we could be put back in to a king room as booked, but was told this wasn't possible. Not a great first impression, but I had places to be so left it. When we got in the room that night we found a bathroom with black mold on the ceiling, a filthy carpets, a rotten window, and bedside tables with drinks rings which hadn't been wiped since the previous occupant. My partner was too tired to faff about changing rooms that night, so I informed reception in the morning - but was really disappointed to be told just that "housekeeping would be informed". It's a little offensive to act as if this was just an undusted sideboard. I asked for an email so I could follow up and was just told to email reception. I did end up getting an apology from the hotel by email, but it just again gave me the housekeeping line. I responded with photos of the state of the room, and after 10 days and three unanswered follow up emails, I finally got a response offering me some Marriott points in return for a spoilt weekend. This isn't the quality I'd expect from Marriott or a supposedly luxury country hotel. Based on other rooms I can only assume they shoved me in one of the crap rooms as I was visiting on reward points. I won't make the same mistake again. On a positive note, breakfast was nice and the F&B staff were great.
I recently stayed at Billesley Manor Hotel and found it to be something of a mixed bag, though with more positives than negatives overall. The Standout: Service & Dining The staff throughout the hotel were genuinely fantastic - welcoming, attentive, and clearly committed to ensuring guests had a pleasant stay. Both the room service and breakfast were excellent, with quality food delivered with care and efficiency. This level of service really elevated the experience. The Spa Experience The spa facilities themselves were great and provided a relaxing environment. However, my treatment was somewhat marred by the therapist, who came across as slightly hostile and gave the distinct impression they'd rather be anywhere else. It's unfortunate when one staff member's attitude undermines an otherwise quality facility. The Accommodation The rooms where dogs are allowed, are showing their age and could benefit from some updating and refreshment. More significantly, the soundproofing is practically non-existent - you can hear everything happening in adjacent rooms and corridors, which can seriously impact your ability to relax or get a good night's sleep. Overall Verdict Billesley Manor has real potential, and the exceptional service from most of the team makes up for some of the property's shortcomings. However, the lack of soundproofing and tired rooms mean it doesn't quite deliver the premium experience you might expect. Worth a visit for the grounds and service, but go in with realistic expectations about the accommodation quality
Just got back from a 4 day stay at Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa near Stratford upon Avon. The room was fantastic with views across the gardens and everything you could need provided. The breakfast which was included in the price was excellent and all the staff attentive and genuinely keen to please. We had spa treatments which were good value and very professionally organised. Highly recommended a we will definitely go again!!!
Visited for an afternoon tea. We were the only customers initially, the service was very slow. The food was presented well and good quality. However, the dining room is very much in need of a good clean, the cobwebs and dust spoilt the luxurious building. The staff were polite and friendly.
The venue catered for my mother’s wake & put us in a lovely separate room which was ideal. The staff were all very smart, professional & kind. They looked after us superbly - I cannot praise them enough.

Great spot for a circular walk..loaded with bluebells but only just come up so in a weeks time they should be in full bloom..quite mucky at times so proper footwear would def be a must...
The car park is closed and public footpath gate is locked with a padlock. Can't see any explanation why - hopefully there is a good reason but seems a shame.
Amazing place really serene and Off the beaten track. It's perfect for dog walkers and would be lovely to go in each other seasons to see how much it changes! and less you're walking right through the forest. It's quite undulating so bare this in mind! An absolute hidden gem! The great outdoors as i like it! P.S parking is nowhere near where the pin is! It's a road off Stratford Road & Trench lane.
Beautiful woodland to explore, used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The only negative is the size of the car park.
Beautiful walk children love it.
Absolutely stunning only problem is the amount of dog poo bags around- a bin is needed!
Lovely walk from alcester, and nicely tucked away
Lovely place for a walk or ride. A few nice bike trails cut through the woodland too.

Interesting if you are into roman as I am.Only small room but has a lot of different displays.Good.
Very helpful volunteer guide, gave us lots of additional info. Good laminated leaflet to guide you round - cabinets & display cases identified using Roman numerals! Lots of activities designed to provide children with hands-on experiences including role-play costumes.
Very interesting to see the artifacts in the Roman museum here in the Alcester library. It's free entry and has a very knowledgeable and friendly volunteer on hand to answer any questions you might have. It never ceases to amaze me how the Romans first conquered, and then brought their culture and society to such a vast area of Europe over 2000 years ago.
This was a flying visit by us to check out the heritage centre and the old part of a really old town. The heritage centre is co-located with the library and is disabled friendly, with all information on the same level. The heritage centre has some great artifacts within, and the member of staff on duty was very knowledgeable and passionate about her town. Things well worth a visit of you enjoy Roman history. Side Quest: The Waitrose car park opposite is marked with red lines that delineate Roman buildings found during the pre-construction investigations. Interesting to see and note.
Very informative visit, enjoyed it a lot, brought the AD first century existence to life. There was a video by a "young man" who had lived in Roman times and "come back", a really good way to describe and get a feeling of how they lived.
Small museum showing artefacts from the times Romans were ruling there. Reminder how old is the history of Alcester.
A little bit smaller than I expected ( one room ) but full of interesting artifacts and information on the roman era. Dog are not allowed, I only add this information as i couldn't find if they where allowed on the internet anywhere and took my dog with me. Super friendly staff a must for any history fans.
I didn't go into the library and museum because it was a school trip I had taken there the town itself it's a lovely place I had a good wander around and it's worth a visit also the roman museum is closed on a Tuesday all day

My favorite church and the nicest community ❤️
Nice little church in the middle of Alcester. Visited for Saint Nicholas Night and the service was ok but a little short. The children were very mature and everybody was in good spirits.
Gorgeous church in the centre of Alcester. Parking was tricky but once there, the church is beautiful, with wonderful historic interest, balanced with relevant community worship. Comfortable seating, peaceful atmosphere.
I have enjoyed your kindness and friendship during my visit to Alcester during the 2019 Easter season. My heart is warmed by your friendship and sharing of the love of Jesus Christ with my family and with me. May God continue to bless this church and it’s parishioners richly. Faye Edmondson, Alabama.
Lovely church and a proper centre of the community. Well worth a visit.
13th Century with later work, especially 18th Century rebuild. Some nice monuments.
Friendly and community focused
