There is extra parking at the castle, but not marked up. There is what looks like a slip road that has a steep decline, but if you take that one left of the main car park there is lots of space. Castle is very interesting. Well worth a visit.
Have never been to the castle before, it's definitely worth a visit if you are around st mawes. There are good parking facilities for everyone, toilets and a gift shop. Some beautiful visit across to Falmouth as well. If you love history this is a must
We hopped on the ferry from Falmouth to St Mawes to visit the castle. Built by Henry 8th, this "modern" castle has stunning views over the estuary. Our little explorer loved the connect four game and the amazing views. Lots of information boards and fascinating facts about the history of the castle and the area.
Took the ferry from Falmouth for a short day trip. Although a little on the small side, the castle is in excellent condition and has lots of areas to explore. There are also some excellent views of the bay. Recommend a visit.
Great place to visit If your into your History of Henry Viii who built this castle its a 3 tier narrow steps going up.. Loads of space to seat and look across at Falmouth Harbour .Where you catch the ferry .or drive into St Mawes village.
Fascinating castle, having visited Portland Castle earlier this year, similar design. Very well preserved as usual good information boards thoroughly recommended
A great day out. It was really nice to be able to take the dog everywhere with you. It is an English Heritage property.
Really nice castle for a walk around, stunning views Staff very nice and friendly

Used the online ticket service and got 10% off. Very good service. The ticket office is a shed which is mainly used in the summer. If you don't book online I belive you can pay by card on the ferry.
If you're heading to Falmouth from the east and have the time, I'd definitely recommend taking the ferry over. It's a fairly short ride but has amazing views. The crew were friendly and professional, and we felt very safe. Fortunately for us, we went on a day with beatiful weather.
Ferry St Mawes to Falmouth, and return, 7 days a week approximately every 30mins, journey time approx 20 mins
Super friendly crew. Only the dog was nervous 😜
Moat miserable attendant in Cornwall. Abrupt and unhelpful.
A little expensive but nice

Stunning views of Falmouth, Carrick Roads and the sea with just the weather for company. Interesting remains of the former artillery battery to investigate, and wonderful coastal walks to enjoy. Car park is National Trust, free to members, as of Oct 2024, mind the large potholes!
Nice walk around the head along the coast path. Sat on a bench in the shade and ate our lunch with a good view. There are toilets here and a car park. Saw the lighthouse which is fenced off private property. Lovely little church nearby too.
A great place to explore! There’s a lot to see and experience, especially with creations. Bird watching is so interesting, make sure to bring binoculars. The coastal walk, the beach, the several view-decks, the beauty never fades — I’m amazed, speechless! Opposite is Falmouth, overlooking St. Mawes, and sighting of Lizard Point. Overly recommended! 💕 Paid parking.
Took a drive around to visit a spot we had talked about during our previous visits to Cornwall. We were not disappointed. Lovely quite isolated spot with some lovely history and on a sunny day offered us a quiet bench to while away an hour looking out to sea watching the boats come and go. Not much wind as can be seen by Pinnucia motoring back to St Mawes. Free parking for National Trust members. Single track road for approx 2 miles, which could be time consuming in busy periods.
Passed through on a coastal walk and was impressed to find cannon-proofed public toilets. That's a first! The holiday let cottages looked attractive and the position is just perfect with massive views all around.
Very interesting military gun battery and views across to Falmouth and beyond
Would recommend for a day trip, though I would not recommend for anyone who is disabled. Though it has lovely views and history, it does have a wheelchair accessible area but it is still rather steep. They have tried there best here though. Other than that, it's a lovely quiet place with some amazing views and well worth the walking.
A beautiful spot and one of our favourite walk locations. An ideal starting point for a 5.5 mile circular walk, walking east along the coast path to Towan Beach, turning left inland and across to the Percuil River and then turning towards Place House and picking up the path back to St Anthony Head. Be aware though, some very steep uphill drags. Car park charges for non National Trust members. Toilets usually open from Spring.

We have visited many garages on our holiday in Cornwall. This one was by far the best in our opinion 😁 Beautiful and enchanting, pleasant surprise on every turn. We were lucky to have the pleasure of meeting the owners, a humble and kind couple, happy to engage in pleasant conversation. Cream tea , punk lemonade and croissant were great and truly appreciated in stunning surroundings. All in all we are delighted to have visited such a lovely gem of Cornwall.
Absolutely charming privately owned garden (the house is NOT open to the public). Small but perfectly designed, complete with cafe, charming owners and staff, and a delightful, intimate feel. Makes a nice walk from the village centre as well.
This place is not be missed! A new discovery for us. So peaceful, and such beautiful gardens. Felt as if we were exploring somewhere undiscovered. Had an absolutely delightful tea on the incredible terrace. Wonderfully friendly people. If you go to St Mawes you must visit here.
Very small garden but at the same time a hidden gem very well kept and right by the sea .It's also a bit of a Maze which makes it a bit of fun if kids like it as each part is numbered 1- 30 your given a map lots of steps and hilly parts steep turns and sharp bends at the sametime narrow as well.Small cafe by front serving Hot/Cold food and drinks ..Lovely cakes .in each of the areas numbered the do have seated areas ..
Over the years, we have done a good majority of the gardens in Cornwall, they all have their differences, and we have enjoyed the majority. On this trip we wanted to find a new garden to visit, so I did a Google search, and found Lamorran Gardens, thought, that's a bonus, it's at St Mawes, one of our favorite little places. As this is a private garden, and only open 3 days a week, we were lucky enough it was open on the day we wanted. On arrival we found the parking a little awkward, outside the property there is enough parking for about 8 vehicles on the road side, what can you expect from a family home, anyway, that is part of the charm to this garden, it can't get overrun with other visitors, massive plus point. We had a walm welcome to the gardens and given a bit of the history about how it was all built, handed a little map, and off we went, first stop the veranda, for a cream tea for me, and tea and lemon drizzle cake for my wife, excellent service, the cakes were fantastic, all homemade by the owner, and very reasonably priced. Then the gardens, wow, they were stunning, very well cared for, the way the planting had been done, the winding paths, the statues, pond, small water features, the detail and the views, all in all, the best and most enjoyable garden we have ever visited to date. A big thank you to the owners for opening their amazing garden to the general public, and the walm welcome we received.
A beautiful, secluded lush garden that reveals and conceals at every turning. It’s hard to believe this is only 40 years old such is the height of the canopy of trees. Views are framed by ruins and arbours that make the garden feel romantic and older than it is. Excellent signage and very well maintained pathways make navigation of this vertiginous site easy even on this dull, rainy day.
Really enjoyed the gardens, wish I'd gone earlier in the year as missed most of the flowering shrubs. Lots of little paths, the route was well signposted. A couple of hours well spent.
Fantastic garden with spectacular views over the sea. Good for 2-3 hour visit with tea, coffee, and snacks. There is no playground for kids, so it's better suited for garden lovers.

Jay was so friendly and helpful!! He was amazing and made our experience 10x better. The kayaks were so much fun and so much more affordable than a lot of other places, highly recommend!
Great day out. Family of 8 chartered a 2 hour rib trip to wherever we wanted to go. Great experience. Lovely sunny day, chilly when speeding along but no problem with warm coats, didn’t get hit by a single drop of spray, obviously if it had been raining it would have been a different story. We didn’t expect to see much wildlife but we saw a seal and lots of interesting birds. Very friendly captain who was knowledgable about the whole area. 5 stars.
Have always used this company in the past but after booking our rental we arrived to find that our double kayak had been given to a single party right in front of us. I am physically not strong enough for a single so always pre book a double. Other members in party can have single. Not only was our booked kayak given to another person we were then recommended to put two adults in a single which is not recommended by professionals. Very disappointed for our whole party.
Great guys, I dealt with Rob last week and he was very helpful. We use them every year and always get great friendly service.
Great fun, definitely worth a go! Got some great views around St. Mawes.
Brilliant! Mark is very friendly, gave us excellent sea advice, checking wind and waves, and advising on routes accordingly. The kayaks are great, sturdy, including back rests which make them all the more comfortable, and dry sacks for your clobber. Rates are very good value, and it's a really good fun and easy way to have a sea view of St Mawes. We went round towards the lighthouse then back in down the river. Highly recommended.
Great fun and highly recomend the light house route plus stopping on the beach. You will be pushed for time if you take the 2hrs to complete the journey, if you decide to stop on the beach and fall in the water. But that was our own doing, otherwise great fun👍
Reasonable prices for the kayaks - and a fun way to spend an afternoon. Pick a warm day, if you can...
