Protaras

Protaras is a resort town in eastern Cyprus, known for its beaches and for Fig Tree Bay with its old, lone fig tree. Above the bay are excavated Hellenistic tombs. To the northwest, atop a rock, the limestone Church of Profitis Ilias marks one end of a nature trail that leads to Konnos Beach. To the south, Cape Greco National Forest Park has clear waters and protected pine forest trails.

Great beach, clean turquoise water. There are also showers, plenty of places to eat and supermarkets nearby to get whatever you need! You can also park for free exactly near the beach! I would definitely recommend going there early, as later there is a possibility that you cannot find free umbrellas and sunbeds. Price for a set was 7.5€
Probably one of the most beautiful and charming beaches in the island, parking nearby is available. You need to be there early if you want to get a sunbed and umbrella otherwise improvise a place in the shade.
Excelent, Clean, organized by municipality, sandy beach with superb blue water. 7,5 euro 2 sunbeds+umbrelă.
A wonderful beach with crystal-clear, uniquely turquoise water and white sand. You can relax passively while sunbathing or enjoy active leisure with pedal boats, small boats, and more.
Absolutely beautiful beach! The sand is soft and golden, and the water is crystal clear with the most amazing turquoise color — it honestly feels like the Caribbean. The sea stays shallow for a long distance, which makes it perfect for families with kids. There are plenty of facilities — clean toilets, showers, sunbeds, umbrellas, cafés, and water sports (SUP, kayaks, parasailing). Everything is well maintained, and the atmosphere is relaxed yet lively. It can get quite crowded during summer weekends, so it’s best to come early in the morning. The small island a few meters offshore is great for swimming or snorkeling.
Beautiful place. Excellent water sports. We purchased our food and refreshments from a nearby supermarket and took them to the beach ⛱️.
This was one of my favorite beach on the whole island! very clear water and blue. Very fun for snorkeling nead the fig tree beach island
Great beach at the centre of Protaras. Clear, cristal water. There is a place for watersports. You will enjoy!

Lovely church, the walk up the stairs is pretty easy. My 2 year old done it in about 3-4 minutes. Great views across protaras. I would recommend going up for sunset.
Beautiful little Church. Very quiet peaceful place. Grounds very well looked after. No payment needed to enter. Alot of steps to climb, hard work if you decide to go in 36degree heat as we did, but worth it spectacular views
A very beautiful place. The church is located on one of the highest points of Protoras. There is a bus stop nearby, but you can also walk there. Below is a shady, cozy green mini-park, a small waterfall and a place for wedding registration. There are steps leading up, which, according to legend, must be counted back and forth. The difference represents the number of your sins. There are also several trees on which ribbons are tied, as a memory of someone or to make wishes. The church is small, quiet, peaceful. A place for prayer and reflection. It is open to everyone on weekdays and there are no priests or other staff. On weekends, weddings, prayers or other events can take place here. You can light candles, which are here, and make a donation in a special box. There is also a small store with religious accessories nearby. From here, a beautiful panoramic view of Protoras opens. A place worth visiting!
There is a parking lot below the church. There are about 50 steps leading up to the church, but the view is definitely worth it. A beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere.
A great setting for a church. There are bout 75 steps but are easy to do. The chapel it was built in 1984 in the place of an older chapel. The stones that it was built with is from the local area, so it would fit with the surroundings and they do compliment the area around it. The church is full of frescoes from floor to ceiling of Saints and scenes from the Greek Orthodox bible. Outside you will be greeted by a tree that has many ribbons and strips of cloth tied to its branches. That is because is a remembrance tree but lately people have started tying ribbons from the bottom of the seps and to other trees and bushes. They tie the ribbon or cloth in remembrance of a loved one. If this is something you’d like to do while visiting the chapel, make sure to take ribbon with you. This way you can tie the ribbon and honour your loved ones just like locals do. Others tie the ribbon and make a wish. So for some this is like a wishing tree. However, you look at it thought it is an amazing thing to tie your own ribbon on the tree. The views from there are amazing as you can see the whole of Protaras and the blue coastal area.
Great views as far as your eyes can see, well worth the short steep stairs up, a few of them.. You will not be disappointed, try at sunrise, sunset or during the day. Take some time to reflect on whatever you want. You can leave a donation for for the church as it's always open. I recommend it.
An amazing church to visit, quite a few steps for perhaps people with certain health or mobility restrictions. We went just as the sun was setting and the view is amazing once you are up there, a beautiful church inside and out and a must visit here in Protaras.
Well worth the climb up amazing 360 degree views also fantastic to see inside the church lovely and quiet , recommend taking a moment to enjoy the peace and light a candle. Outside fascinating to look around all offerings that have been left. Steep climb but worth it.

f you are staying in the area, I recommend this to be one of the places to visit. You can spend hours there having fun with your children. However, the cafes are open until 5 pm. The animals you will see there are not many, but they are interesting - penguins, crocodiles, exotic birds and fish, of course.
Great place for kids. There is a variety of fresh and salt water fish. The aquarium with the sea turtle is really nice. There is a playground for kids to play. Souvenir shop and coffee shop. Prices may be a little high but it is what you expect.
Not sure what all the bad reviews are about but they seemed unfounded. Aquarium is clean and no tanks seemed small for the fish they were housing. Outside area with crocodiles, monkeys, penguins and various species of birds were great. They were cleaning the birds as we were there so there is obviously daily maintenance and the animals seemed to be at ease in their environments. I’m confused by the comments saying the fish don’t have toys… I wasn’t aware fish in the wild took daily trips to Smyths toy stores! In all seriousness for €15 an adult and free admission for children under 3, this is fantastic value and a great day out. I highly recommend it. Also, I can happily confirm the fish do not look depressed. In fact, they looked happy (maybe those pesky antidepressants really are working!)
Ocean Aquarium is a wonderful experience for families! It’s clean, well-maintained, and filled with fascinating sea creatures. Kids loved exploring the colorful fish and marine life. A fun, educational, and memorable visit!
Small aquarium with a small playground, out door animals included, crocodile, monkeys, birds, and a few others. Support rescue seaside. Worth the price for a few hours. On site restaurant, reasonably priced.
A lovely selection of animals on top of the fish but felt it lacked something, was no more than fish in tanks and animals in enclosure. Lacking a bit of enrichment, Some rocks or plants in the tanks and bits in the cages felt would enrich the experience for the animals.
I will give 4 stars just because I want more people to come here. I had a feeling that there is lack of promotion. How that can be, we came from Agia Napa and there is no information about this place. While I’m sure a lot of families with kids are looking for activities. There are many points to improve in Aquarium but with no financial support and visitors it’s impossible.
Good place to observe water world. Unfortunately, that place need to expand and investment. Under investment, I mean more advertising, visiting by tourists and local, support from government, universities and program of support like other zoo ie in uk

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The rooms were always spotless thanks to the excellent cleaning service. The lifeguards were not only attentive but also fun and friendly, which made us feel safe and relaxed by the pool. The food was absolutely delicious – we enjoyed every meal. The animation team did a fantastic job keeping everyone entertained, and our kids were especially happy with all the activities. The aqua aerobics sessions were so much fun and a great way to stay active during the holiday. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations – we would definitely love to come back!
The worst hotel experience of my life – avoid at all costs! This place was absolutely disgusting. The room was dirty from top to bottom: filthy sheets with stains and hair, dirty pillows, a gross quilt, a dirty balcony, even the kettle was filthy. To make things worse, there were cockroaches crawling around. It honestly felt like no one had cleaned the room in months. When I went to complain, Theodor at the reception showed horrible behavior. Instead of helping, he basically taught me how to “sleep in the dirty sheets” because he was alone at reception and told me to wait until tomorrow to speak with the manager. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. This hotel is a nightmare. Dirty rooms, disgusting facilities, rude staff. Do yourself a favor and never book here.
We stayed at Anastasia Beach Hotel for a 10-day holiday in Cyprus. Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel and our experience there. However, there are a few things that could definitely be improved. The housekeeping could be better – both in terms of cleaning the rooms and the area around them. It didn’t leave the best impression. I was glad I had brought my own toiletries, because the hotel didn’t provide any, and I would have had to go out and buy them otherwise. As for the pool safety, it leaves quite a lot to be desired. The pool located near the hotel lobby had a lifeguard who didn’t seem very attentive – I actually witnessed a small child struggling in the water while the lifeguard was standing aside, looking at his phone. That was disappointing. On the other hand, the lifeguards at the Anastasia Aqua Park were much more professional and engaged. The food was tasty and varied, especially the dinners – every evening there was something different. The only downside was breakfast, which was exactly the same every day, and after ten days it became a bit repetitive. The direct access to the beach is a big plus, and overall, I would still recommend this hotel – especially for families looking for a pleasant holiday by the sea.
complete nightmare. The whole hotel is extremely dirty and poorly maintained: from the rooms and hallways to the elevators. The lift almost never worked, and we were staying on the 4th floor with a baby, so we had to carry the stroller and all our luggage up the stairs from the 3rd floor every time. When we finally got to our room, the key cards almost never worked. We constantly had to go back to reception and waste another 10 minutes to fix the issue. The heating didn’t work, the fridge wasn’t cooling, and the mattresses were terrible old, worn out, and full of broken springs. We requested a baby cot and received something so dirty and uncomfortable that we couldn’t even use it. To make things worse, our baby developed a rash on the last day we still don’t know exactly why, but it was very worrying. Overall, it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. I absolutely do not recommend staying here
A Great Stay, Despite Early Concerns It's clear that the actual experience was much better than what you expected from the reviews! You arrived thinking it might be a bad or unclean place, but you found the opposite to be true: it was a good place with clean facilities. Key Highlights of Your Visit Spotlessly Clean: Everything felt fresh and well-kept, including the pool, the bedroom, and the lobby. Fantastic Location: Being right next to the beach with a proper walkway made accessing the sand and sea easy and enjoyable. Fun for Everyone: The kids water activities were a great feature, ensuring the little ones had a blast. Relaxing Poolside: The pool bar was a perfect spot to enjoy a drink and relax by the water. Delicious Food Galore: The breakfast, lunch, and dinner all offered a huge variety of options—so much to choose from! Even the snacks in between meals were really good. In short, you found a clean, enjoyable place with great food, a perfect beachside location, and fun amenities that exceeded your expectations.
Quite decent hotel, but clean and staff is welcoming. Need some renovations( bath and hand shower in room 442 in poor condition), but no complaints, cause we got a room with a spectacular view. Breakfast variety is repetitive, but lunch and dinner is not bad, but need some improvement- sometimes bland, sometimes too spicy, almost no seafood. At least, it would be great to add some fresh made orange juice. Location is great, bus stop is 5 minutes from hotel, so you change beach location or travel to Protaras area, Cape Greco, Ayia Napa every day. The hotel has its own waterpark. To be frank- it’s shabby, but affordable place that met our expectations.
I was here for 1 week and i can say that this is the most disgusting place i ever been . Cleanliness -1000 Bed sheets were never changed for 1 week straight Towels smelled very bad not sure if the gave us new oneas or the just folded back the old ones The floor was very dirty and it was oily for some reason Food kinda okay Not recommending it and i will never come back here . I advise the manager of the hotrl to take look at the reviews and do smth about it . Keep urself away. From every hotel that is “Tsokkos.com” branch . Check thrm out who they are and what hotels are involved AND NEVER CHOOSE THEM.
We chose this hotel expecting a pleasant vacation experience, but unfortunately we encountered several issues that should be addressed: General Presentation The hotel presents itself as a regular hotel, but in reality it also includes an apartment hotel section. We stayed in the apartment area, which turned out to be poorly maintained. Room Condition The room was not clean: the balcony was covered in dust and the windows looked like they hadn’t been washed in years. Electrical sockets either didn’t work or could not hold the new adapters we purchased locally. The welcome note stated the fridge should contain three soft drinks and a bottle of water (for one-time use, no refill during the stay). However, the fridge was completely empty. Facilities The apartment lobby was neglected: aside from a few armchairs, there was a broken billiard table and an abandoned bar. If you are taller than 1.85m, the beds are not suitable. In addition, the topper was smaller than the mattress, creating an uncomfortable “step” in the middle of the bed. The ashtray on our balcony remained full from Thursday until Sunday without being cleaned. Dining Experience The food itself was tasty, but the variety was extremely limited. Vegetarians would likely struggle to find enough to eat, and vegans should definitely avoid this hotel. Some of the salads even contained meat. Desserts seemed repetitive, essentially the same cream base with different toppings (mint, mango, Oreo). Guests cannot serve themselves drinks at lunch or dinner. Orders must be placed with one of only two staff members in the dining room, and drinks are prepared at a bar that guests are not allowed to approach. This caused delays of over 15 minutes for something as simple as a glass of water. There are no accessible water dispensers around the hotel. To fill a bottle with cold water, guests must go to one of the bars and ask the bartenders. Staff were eager to clear tables, often asking to remove plates and cutlery while we were still eating. If we wanted another serving, we had to search for cutlery ourselves. Staff & Service Most of the hotel staff did not speak or understand English. Communication was often reduced to hand gestures, which made even simple requests difficult. Positive Aspect The highlight was the pool area, especially the slides and inflatables, which provided real fun for the kids and helped us enjoy our time despite the issues. picture 1 - mattress picture 2 - Apartments lobby picture 3 - hotel lobby

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Our wake surfing experience with Green Bay wake academy was brilliant! We loved it so much, we booked it twice in one holiday. It’s been a few years since we’ve done wake surfing, and they were amazing at helping us and teaching us far more than we knew before! Snow is a fantastic instructor, she had so much patience teaching both my 8 and 5 year old children who also wanted to give it a go - they loved her and begged to go a second time (only with Snow!). Andreas was the best captain who kept us entertained. It was a great experience for our whole family and we all agree, it was the best and most favourite part of our holiday. We can’t wait to come back and book again!
I booked my entire company crew to do watersports here at the Green Bay Watersports & Wake Academy. I have only recieved positive feedback from all my 18 employees, including myself. We had a great time thanks to the owners of this facility. We did wakesurfing and got really good instructions and encouragement. We did the UFOs which had us laughing so much that it was like an ab-workout, paragliding which was a fantastic experience and finally a boat trip to snorkle at a couple of locations plus cliff jumping and enjoying the beautiful water and company. The most memorable day here at Cyprus.
Without doubt the best experience during our holidays! The green bay wake team is super friendly and we had so much fun. We swam with turtles and had a blast on the boat taking the slider and learning to wakesurf with great instructions by Snow. Thanks so much and we'll be back!
Highly recommended 🏄🏻‍♂️🌊 Yesterday was our 6th class, so I guess it’s finally time to write a review – haha! What an amazing experience every single time. Judith – what a coach! She truly wants to teach you and help you get better. Andreas – what a guy! Best driver and DJ out there. These two make the perfect wake surfing dream team – professional, fun, and always bringing good vibes. P.S. For all future students: please close your face when falling down. Trust me on this one.
Absolutely love this place! 🏄‍♂️ The crew here is super cool, super friendly, and really know how to create good vibes on and off the water. Best wake surf spot on the island, no doubt. Every session is packed with fun, laughs, and great energy. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to push your tricks, these guys will take care of you. I’ve been riding with them for over 2 years now and couldn’t be happier! 🚤🌊☀️
An amazing place run by truly passionate people! ❤️ The boat trip was fantastic – snorkeling with turtles and lots of colorful fish, cliff jumping, and everything in a super friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Nothing is impossible for them! I can wholeheartedly recommend this place and the people behind it to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience. 🌊🐢☀️
Our group of six really enjoyed our private boat trip. It was an excellent alternative to the overcrowded options from other providers in the area. We saw turtles up close, and we had the Blue Lagoon all to ourselves. The team was friendly, helpful and responsive. Would highly recommend!
The crew is AMAZING. Their attitude, help, support and guidance is just TOP, exactly what you need when learning those new difficult things, being out of your comfort zone. Supper friendly, helpful, supportive, positive, they will always cheer you up and give nice tips during the training. We booked a wake surfing experience with a friend of mine, 15 min each, given it was my first time and i am super clumsy and unexperienced human being, i made great progress and had so much fun, thanks to Snow and Andreas.
