Very well organized and very informative and professional. Did it twice since 2016, both in winter time. One time with full moon and the chance to observe its surface, the other time at new moon with a better chance to see more stars. Would like to do it in summer time again to look at the center of the milky way.
Everything went smoothly with the booking, reservation, meet-up, and convoy to the observation point. The night was nice with clear skies. In my opinion, there were far too many people and too few telescopes and guides for our tour. With eighteen people (plus guides) sharing two telescopes, and with no organization on how to queue up, we spent a lot of time waiting around and only were able to view a small number of objects. In addition, one of the guides disappeared for most of the event, so one person, who was very knowledgeable and interesting, was left to explain everything in multiple languages to the entire group. If you have any prior exposure to astronomy, you will probably find the information very basic.
The good – Both instructors were very nice and knowledgeable, and it’s clear they genuinely love what they do. They also provided blankets for those who were cold, which was a thoughtful touch. The bad – Honestly, it just felt overcrowded. I think the experience would have been much more enjoyable and less chaotic with a maximum of 10 people. It also would have been better to run separate tours in English and Spanish, because repeating everything in both languages made the tour feel twice as long as it needed to be. Another issue was that there was nowhere to lie down. After a full day of traveling, standing in the cold for three straight hours while looking up was tough—my neck and legs started to hurt. Being able to lie down would have made it much easier to enjoy the night sky and spot shooting stars. I would have much preferred that over waiting in line for the telescope, only to see a small, blurry object that honestly didn’t feel very special (at least to me). But the most disappointing part was receiving the photo they took of us—it was blurry and low quality, nothing like the examples shown online. I could have taken a better picture with my iPhone, but we weren’t allowed to use any light during the tour, so I didn’t take any photos myself. I assume the blurry result was because they rushed each shot to get through everyone quickly. That’s yet another reason why they should limit the group size. In the end, it felt like the experience was compromised to maximize profit, which left a bad impression. I’ve added the picture I received in the mail (I removed us from it). I also downloaded it to my computer first to make sure the low quality wasn’t due to my phone.
Honestly it was OK. I think they could do with updating their telescopes as they’re pretty amateur at best. Also there were too many people so it felt as though you didn’t get much time to view anything without the pressure of the next person hovering over you. I’d also say that they could view better and more stars and nebulas than what they showed. The staff however were very friendly and knowledgeable, just shame they don’t have better telescopes and less people
We had the stargazing tour with Stefanie. It was very well organized, the explanation was clear and understandable. We liked the introduction about the natural dark sky reserve and learned how novel and unique this area is. Stefanie is really passionate about her work and that is reflected in the tour - we would recommend it anytime. 👏👏👏
It was an amazing experience!! Love it! We learnt about the stars and some curiosities that we didn't know before and now we can apply every time we look the night sky! I recommend this activity and Ana is a really good instructor!
What a wonderful experience we had last week! Very professional, interesting and funny explanations of the stars and plates in our sky! This is an appointment you should do on your La Palma trip! Thanks a lot for that evening!
I liked the idea of learning more about our star constellations and booked a tour with them. The tour was well prepared and in English as well as in Spanish. They have a bus taking you up or a convoy you can join when bri ging your own car. You need to prepare for cold weather especially when it's a clear night temperatures can fall bellow 10°C when beeing in higher altitudes. They do provide some warm tea and blankets. I was dressed warm and properly and well prepared unlike others that started winning half way through the tour. The reason I only gave three stars is our guide. She did know plenty interacting facts but never took the time to explain something in more detail. The tour seemed a little rushed through and I personally did not get much time looking through the telescope. I went up to the same location without the tour and learned more by just reading some articles on star constellations.. Maybe I was just unlucky and my guide had a bad day but...

Volcanic black-sand beach with striking rock formations, popular for swimming, snorkeling & diving.
Slide 1 of 8
Nice beach with good snorkelling on the right hand side (looking towards the sea) by the rocks. I saw red parrot fish, trumpet fish, puffer fish plus shoals of smaller fish.Stony, so beach shoes are needed if you are going in the water. There are restaurants and shops quite near including a dive shop.
This beach was really pretty. Flying a drone here is not possible because it is in a restricted flight zone. I run into this quite often. It seems as though all of the pretty beaches are very close to an airport or in the flight path. There are bathrooms available at this beach, and it is close to the ship port. Many rock formations and black volcanic sand.
This is a lovely beach with good facilities - toilets, showers, lockers etc. The sand is black and coarse volcanic sand. My husband and I tried snorkelling here and saw some fish. There are lots of rock pools where you can see crabs, shellfish etc.
Review number 100 🙂 i cannot believe so few reviews this beach is amazing, several nice restaurants nearby and access to a kids beach area and space for wheelchairs. Update as i had no idea there was swimming equipment and beach equipment for disabled. Great idea👍
Lovely place but it seems to be the mass tourism pick of the islands. So it looks busy even in a dead season.
Beautiful black dance beach, location is great, a 5 min drive from the capital, and due to this, the beach was very quiet without the typical hop-off-hop-on cruise 🚢 travelers.
Lovely quiet beach. Go to nearby El Pulpo for great potatoes and garlic prawns
Awesome beschikbaar, famille friendly and not to busy

Had a great two dives with Joana off the airport site. Loads more to see than what people say and it was so relaxing to be in the warm water. Fantastic team of friendly, helpful and professional divers. My first dive in over 5 years and it was as they all said like riding a bike. Thank you so much for your time and confidence.
Would 100% recommend. The best way to explore the most beautiful side of the island: underwater. Team of experienced and friendly divers who know the island inside and out. High quality equipment in good as new condition, clear instructions and flexible diving plans for all skills and levels. They organised a day for me and my wife, and the kids too! The little ones went snorkelling while we dived. Will come back.
Good Place for the diving. Erik and Marco are professional divers and I got some really cool photos and amazing video. They also offer courses from Padi and have really interactive guides. Also it is really easy to locate.
Great diving centre with amazing instructors, who teach with passion. Erik, Marco and Joana are proffesionals. What's more the atmosphere is really friendly and everybody is kind. If you've got any doubts or questions they will help you and answer. I did my Advanced Open Waters Diver with Eric. It was excellent experience, during which I could learn a lot and gain many useful tips. For sure, I will come back there.🐠🤿🐟
We did a total of six dives over three days with Buceo Sub and really enjoyed each of them. We learned a lot about entering from the shore (also with more waves than we were used to :D) but we were rewarded by beautiful dives with amazing landscapes. Every staff member was really friendly. Our guide Nano always was super helpful and nothing was an obstacle. The briefings were detailled and every question was answered, so we felt really safe although we don't speak Spanish. We would love to dive with Buceo Sub again if we visit La Palma another time!
My family of 4 just returned from a week in La Palma and took 3 days diving with Buceo Sub. I could not have been more impressed by the friendly and professional team. Huge thanks to Eric, Marco and Joanna for our refresher dive and additional adventure dives, we loved it. We felt perfectly safe and in very good hands throughout, with any small issues dealt with immediately and always with a smile. With well over 300 dives experience, I can honestly say this is one of the best dive centres I have used. Highly recommended. The guys were not only enthusiastic about the diving, but also super-helpful in helping us locate restaurants and other tourist attractions to visit on our non-diving days. They really made a huge difference to our trip! The diving itself is very good - La Palma is of course Volcanic and you can expect to see a vast array of underwater volcanic features such as canyons, caves, drop-offs and swim-throughs. The Atlantic water is a little cool at 20c, but the 5mm rental suits with hoods did a great job of keeping us warm and well worth it to see the incredible visibility at well beyond 30m on several dives! There is plenty of sea life, we found 3 or 4 types of Rays, morays, octopus and cuttlefish, as well as dozens of fish species and the largest pufferfish I have ever seen - it must have been 4-5 feet long, and also lots of micro critters to look out for. All in all an outstanding experience and one I will be returning back to for more just as soon as I can! Thanks again to to everyone at Buceo Sub!
We had several great dives with Buceo Sub! The team is super friendly and helpful. During the briefings it was made sure that we got all the information, which made us feel very safe (big thanks to Raúl!). Nano is a great guide and we enjoyed the time with him a lot. It was a cool experience where we not only had fun dives, but also learned a lot which we really liked!
My husband and I went diving at this organization this morning and had a wonderful time! MARCO and Eric, the owners are very professional and kind. In addition, our dive guide, Johanna was also very thorough in setting up context before the dive and being attentive throughout the dive. We saw a lot of really cool stuff inclusive of an amazing gorge. I couldn’t recommend this place more as they are just generally good people. If you are staying in Santa Cruz, don’t miss out on diving with them!

Very good place with an interesting menu. Popular with Germans and serves weissbier, also Schnitzel. I had Canarian Goulash and Octopus with potatoes both of which were great.
Sadly only found this fabulous bar the night before they closed for Christmas. Great atmosphere, lovely ☺️ staff. The barman knows how to make a fantastic sangria. If it hadn't been their holiday break would've def made it 'our bar'. Hope you have a great Christmas, hopefully see you before leaving
Local place with European food, strong German influence which is normal here. We ordered food and it came quite fast. It was just nothing special. For example calmares were done good but there was nothing to dip it in. A missed opportunity which would make a huge difference. Prices and service were good.
Great bar. Local beer and wine on the drinks menu and a tasty tapas selection
Excellent fresh food, NO froze rubbish so don't expect your food straight away, good fresh food takes a while and you won't be disappointed
Dined here mid week early evening and our last night the service was excellent and very helpful. Food was excellent and the prices very reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant when you are in the area. Had our last night drinks here at the bar and felt very welcome and the service was very good. Nice Spanish music playing in the background and had some very good cocktails. Food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back again. Thanks to all the staff for making us feel very welcome.
We went a few months ago and recently repeated. Our first time was this awkward time frame in which is way too early to go to the airport and way too late to be at home. So we went for a last scenic view of the beach and after picking some medicine we landed here. In part because the horrifying experiences with every other restaurant in this block. We ordered 5 tapas. For three people its a good ratio so we weren't bloated on the plane. They are platters. Full, generous plates of delicious food. Waiter could be better, he seemed lost in thought.
This place is a hidden gem! The food, the service, Alfredo the bar man is an absolute credit to this place . Would come back to this lovely little village just to revisit this bar. A must, you wont regret it x

Beautiful spot to watch the planes take off! Jets turn around after landing at the very end so landings are interesting as well. Very narrow parking but ok. Many many fearless lizards.
This clifftop viewpoint sits above the north west corner of La Palma airport. It offers a great close-up view of planes taking off and landing, close enough to wave at the passengers as the plane passes by. There is a small car park, some bins, some landscaping, and enough path for a short stroll. it's a nice picnic spot, even if you aren't interested in planes. If you don't want to drive, you can get there by walking up the road from Los Cancajos resort which takes about fifteen minutes.
Nice overview of airplanes taking off...landing also. Observation decking is one word to describe this area. Some parking place.
There's something terribly magical about sitting on a rock, watch the great blue skies mixing with the ocean and, every now and then, a plane will come real close to you. This place is great because it's one of the first things you see as soon as you arrive and acts as an appetizer of the great things the island has to offer you.
It's amazing, and when i was getting there, a plane was taking off. Very good views of airport, Gomera and Tenerife if the weather is good.
Great spot for a picnic and watch the planes heading to Tenerife
Good airport, you can have a meal there for comparably good price
Great view of the airport to watch the planes departing.
