Deer Park (Jægersborg Dyrehave) is a beautiful and peaceful place just outside Copenhagen. With big old trees, open fields, and deer walking freely, it feels like a quiet escape from the city. The small royal hunting palace on the hill adds charm to the landscape. Whether you're walking, biking, or just relaxing, the park’s natural beauty makes it a perfect spot to enjoy fresh air and calm surroundings.
Scenic walking routes with a bunch of deer. This was the first time I’ve seen white and black deer. Was very cool to see such a big herd of them. Got a bit hot because there’s not much tree cover
I've never seen a park like this in any other city... It's super biker and walker friendly but at the same time it keeps the wildness and originality of what a forest should be. As for deer watching, just note that they are still afraid of people, don't know if it is because of biological reasons, so don't expect to walk close and become their best friends :)
Dyrehaven is a beautiful and spacious park just outside Copenhagen, perfect for a peaceful escape into nature. The scenery is stunning, with open meadows, old oak trees, and plenty of deer roaming freely. It feels like stepping into another world. It’s great for walks and bike rides. The only downside is that it can get quite crowded on weekends, especially when the weather is nice, so visiting early in the day is a good idea. Overall, a nice spot for anyone who loves nature and tranquility 🌳🦌✨
Dyrehaven, or "The Deer Park," is a stunning natural reserve located north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It's a fantastic place to experience nature and history. A particularly picturesque sight is seeing the deer in front of the Hermitage Palace (Eremitageslottet), a beautiful royal hunting lodge situated within the park. This palace provides a magnificent backdrop for viewing the herds of deer. It is recommended to visit during the quieter times of the day, such as early in the morning or late in the evening.
Lovely, sprawling park with trails for walking and biking, just a fifteen minute train ride from Copenhagen! Because the park is very large, it doesn't feel crowded, even in beautiful summer weather. We walked for quite a long time before we came across the deer, in the woods - they were beautiful, and came in lots of different colours! I recommend having a picnic on the benches by the royal lodge (not open when we went), with an ocean view. You can also visit Bakken theme park and go to the beach by the station, making a perfect day trip from the city. What a beautiful place!
Jægersborg Dyrehave is a protected nature preserve just north of Copenhagen, known for its beautiful landscapes and rich history. Spanning over 1000 hectares, it features ancient oak forests, open meadows, lakes, and a free-roaming population of around 2000 red, fallow, and roe deer 🌿
Jægersborg Dyrehave is a lovely escape just outside Copenhagen. We took the train to Klampenborg station and walked up to the Hermitage Palace. The castle itself is small and not as impressive as some of the others in Denmark, but the park more than makes up for it. On a sunny day, the open meadows, trails, and wildlife are beautiful. We spotted a herd of deer west of the castle, though, fair warning, deer have legs and tend to move, so no guarantees 😅

Great fun for all ages. Friendly and an establishment that leaves you with a big smile.
Godt lavet, gennemført og overraskende god mad hos fru Varnæs! (Probably not that interesting for foreign tourist as it shows the scenes from a legendary Danish tv series, like Upstairs & Downstairs, and half the entertainment is recognizing the characters and episodes)
If you know the TV show it's amazing to meet the characters in "real life". If not it's just a nice little old fashioned village. Be aware that it's everything but cheep. Luckily looking is for free.
I had lunch here with a group. You have to really like the theme and atmosphere because the food was not great and pretty bland.
Great place to hang out, eat some great food, and try some old rollercoasters. Entrance is free, but the wristbands (for trying any coasters) costs 269 dkk
Great atmosphere! Will come next year!
Very nice amusement park. Its open outdoor place. Its heaven for the children to have fun.
Fantastic place for family trip 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 both children and parents will love the place 🎠

I’m so happy to have visited the oldest amusement park in the world. The atmosphere surrounded by nature was amazing, and the rides were modern and exciting. The entrance fee was also cheaper than Tivoli. I was truly impressed.
The rides are average and more historical visit for the place as the oldest in Denmark, than a theme park visit for the ride. Many good places to dine and a fun time for the family! Personally for me, the highlight was a rebuild of the sets of the Matador series!
Traditional local place for kids. I really think it is for little kids as most do the game would be suitable for 5-9 years old. Many different money game like you have to buy coins to try luck 🤣🤣 they are smart as every game shop have to use different coins, it is the way to make money 😌😏 Many resturtant or you can get beer very easy. They only open for few months so if you have little kids, worth to go there
The oldest amusement park in the world! Bakken is pure joy (at no cost)! This amusement park has a perfect mix of classic rides, fun games, and delicious snacks — it’s impossible not to smile here. From the roller coasters to the merry-go-rounds, there’s something for every thrill level, and the atmosphere is full of laughter and excitement. Right next door, Dyrehaven (the Deer Park) is a completely different kind of magic. Walking among the free-roaming deer and through the beautiful, peaceful forest paths is so refreshing — it feels like stepping into a fairytale. The white sand Bellevue Beach is right outside the park and theres plenty of free parking spaces A day spent here is pure happiness — ride, stroll, snack, and repeat. Highly recommended for families, friends, or anyone just looking to have a fun and memorable day out!
Came here after a morning walk in the surrounding areas. Lovely theme park with various amusement and rides. I was told it is the oldest theme park in world! Amazing that it is still open until now. When I visited, many rides were still closed because it was early. But I could see the rollercoaster with wooden platforms, Dino rides, circus tent and the place for the clown show. I also saw many restaurants, food stalls, ice cream galore and more. Toilets and parking lots are available. The entrance is ♿️✅ disability friendly although it is a bit hilly. Most of the areas are well covered and smooth. We walked around the deer park as well and it was beautiful autumn morning! We saw some deers grazing freely here. It has jogging tracks as well.
The entry is free that allows you to simply wander around and enjoy the atmosphere, so it's a perfect place to visit even if you don't plan on riding all the attractions. The day ticket is definitely worth it for a full day. The "Turbånd" gives you unlimited access to all of the park's 32+ rides, including the must-go wooden roller coaster, Rutschebanen.
Bakken is truly one of Denmark’s hidden gems and an absolute must-visit! Nestled in the beautiful Dyrehaven forest just outside Copenhagen, this enchanting amusement park is the oldest in the world, dating all the way back to 1583. It’s not over-commercialized like many modern theme parks. Instead, it offers a perfect mix of classic rides, cozy carnival games, and family-friendly entertainment, all wrapped in a beautifully natural setting. The free entry is a huge bonus—you’re free to walk around, enjoy the scenery, grab some traditional Danish treats, and only pay for the rides you actually want to go on (or get a wristband if you’re ready for a thrill-filled day!). The Pjerrot clown shows and live performances are fun for all ages. Bakken is a place that magically blends history, nature, and joy.
Really cool OLD school amusement park. My family loved it and the park surrounding is beautiful as well. I believe its closed kw for the year, was open for the Halloween holiday, they celebrate Halloween for 7 days in 🇩🇰!

One of the best beaches in Denmark in my experience. It is refreshing and relaxing place , where one can enjoy volley ball /other games in sandy beach or enjoy time with friends and family, organize picnics (there is open space to barbecue) ! Not that far from train station and very close to bus stop! Although it is bit more crowded in summer days , it gives peaceful and positive energy!
A nice place for everyone to enjoy. It’s a better place for a Winter bathing (vinterbadning). Which is a breathtaking experience that awakens both body and mind. The icy plunge is shocking at first, but the rush of endorphins, improved circulation, and deep sense of well-being make it absolutely worth it.
I was told there is a nice nudist section here. But it seems like it vanished some time ago. I went to the very end of the beach but it was all full with people in swimming clothing. Sad. Prudery seems to let these places die one after another.
Bellevue Beach Overall rating: 5/5 stars Pros: Beautiful sandy beach with clear water Close to Copenhagen city center (20 minute train ride) Family-friendly with lifeguards on duty Plenty of amenities, including restaurants, cafes, and playgrounds Stunning views of the Oresund Bridge and the Swedish coast Cons: Can get crowded in the summer months No public parking (but there is a paid parking lot nearby) Beach can be windy, so not ideal for swimming if it's too choppy Overall, Bellevue Beach is a great option for a day trip from Copenhagen. It's a beautiful beach with plenty of amenities and activities to enjoy. Just be aware that it can get crowded in the summer, so it's best to go early or late in the day to avoid the crowds. Here are some additional details about Bellevue Beach: The beach is approximately 2 kilometers long and 70 meters wide. The sand is soft and white, and the water is typically clear and calm. The beach is open from May to September. Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 6pm. There are several restaurants, cafes, and playgrounds located near the beach. There is no public parking at the beach, but there is a paid parking lot nearby. The beach can get crowded in the summer, so it's best to go early or late in the day to avoid the crowds. I hope this helps!
Awesome public beach with nudist section - I visited this beach on a mid June weekday and the beach was busy but not packed, it’s nice & sandy with a dedicated nudist section at the northern end, there’s a beach bar next to the nudist section & a small jetty where you can access the water easily. The beach is close to the train station & is definitely worth a visit when the sun is out!
One of the best beaches in Copenhagen. We went during winter and my kid could still enjoy it on a sunny day by sand play. The beach water is very clean and the entire beach area is well maintained. There are not so many restaurants nearby, however a lot of place to sit together with your family.
Soft sand, nice view. Beach is not very big, right now there are some dead seaweeds swept onto the beach. Seems there are 4 available beach volley courts?
Beautiful Beach in a beautiful area. Needs to be cleaned from all of those seaweed and could use a more convenient cafe.

The walk to l’hermitage was easy and pleasant. The forests are managed and the herds of deer and geese are domesticated. Beautiful views of the sound …
It doesn't matter what order of attractions your visit takes you on, Dyrehaven is the cherry on top of your Kobehavn trip. It is an enchanted forest where you lose yourself in nature. Hundreds of deer of multiple species cohabitate with flocks of duck and songbirds. Bring a lunch and picnic in the dappled sunlight of a Beech cloaked forest floor. The serene beauty of the emerald forest overlays the backdrop of a cobalt steel blue of the marina. The horizon seemlessly fades into the sky as you look on from the hill tops. It's a total escape from the bustling city's sensory overload.
Nice place for walk and beautiful photoshoots 😌 Haven’t been inside the Hermitage it was closed. But the park is very beautiful and atmospheric. And off course you can find a lot of deers walking around 😍
The Hermitage Hunting Lodge, a secluded gem nestled amidst verdant forests, exudes timeless beauty. Its serene location offers a unique opportunity to encounter diverse wildlife, including graceful deer and majestic bucks. The nearby open grassland, a picturesque tableau, becomes even more enchanting when adorned with the gentle grazing of these creatures.
A stunning historical site surrounded by beautiful nature! The Hermitage Lodge offers a glimpse into royal history, and the views over Dyrehaven are incredible. Watching the deer roam freely around the area makes the experience even more magical. Perfect spot for a peaceful walk and some great photos!
Super nice place middle of the deer park. Located in a little high ground giving full 360 beautiful view around the palace.
Incredible place and highly recommended! There will be a lot of walking involved so wear something comfortable and warm (specially in the evenings). A great way to be close to nature and animals. Lots and lots of deers roaming around and it’s great to see them not fenced off. It’s around 1.5km walk from the car park to the lodge/castle/building. Beautiful views all around including large fields, a golf course and a forest with thick trees. I visited around sunset and discovered some incredible views but also realised that it’s ideal to go early in the day as you will need a good few hours to thoroughly enjoy this great place.
I really, really loved this deer park in Lyngby. It's not easy to access, the paths are hilly and difficult to cycle in, and yet it remains one of the most chill places I visited in Denmark. The deer are cute and not aggressive. The paths are quiet and comfortable to walk on. I even went back a second time the day before my flight back to Singapore. If you're in the area, do not miss this.

Amazing atmosphere, people having fun, great races, great enthusiasm, and overall good vibes. Perfect location for a chill time, a few drinks, a bit of adrenaline, and a lot of banter.
Fun activity. Be prepared to wait long queues for a drink. Buy them online with your tickets, much more worth it.
A nice place to take your family and friend, have space to sit or to do a picnic while watching the race.
Very good place but don’t cater for gambling addicts at all no betting on track
Horse racing forces horses into ugly conditions. They suffer from broken legs and lung damage due to the intense physical demands. Many horses experience premature deaths. Those no longer profitable are sent to slaughterhouses. Do not support horse use for entertainment.
Great place to go when the weather is good and dry, but not so much when it's rainy. A bit far from the city centre, but good for an outing. Bets on the races can only be placed online with a verified account (which requires a Danish ID), so heads up, it's not much use bringing cash. ;)
Went there once and is a fun way to spend a Sunday.
I absolutely enjoy visiting Klampenborg Galopbane and I will continue doing it, but I will never set my foot inside of their restaurant, Den kongelige Restaurant, ever again. Despite the name, I hope they never serve their food for our Queen. I have tastet a lot of tartar, which was also what we had at the restaurant, but cheaper and better tartar does exist and I can not recommend the restaurants tartar to anyone. The classic smørrebrød is not even the real deal here either, but more like "build your own piece". So big recommendations to Klampenborg Galopbane but absolutely none to the restaurant. Best wishes
