We loved this museum. A major part is closed for renovation until December 2025, but we still spent two hours here. The Rescue interactive exhibit is really neat, but we enjoyed all of it. We definitely want to come back once renovations are complete.
Such a great museum. Been coming to this place for many years now and it never disappoints. They now have an interactive museum portion which is super cool. Very educational and respectful of all the men and women who served during a dark time period. Truly shows the bravery and urgency of the time. Please note, it's being renovated until December 6, 2025. The main exhibit is not available. The staff are super friendly and accommodating and there is still plenty of neat things to see.
Awesome museum! This was our first time visiting and we were not disappointed (even with the renovations in progress). The check in staff was professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. The museum is beautifully curated and very interactive. We were able to “run a hotel”, with one of the interactive displays as well as participate in a touchscreen “what would you do” scenario based activity. As we made our way out of the museum, we were deeply impressed with the tribute walls of the men and women who served our country. One especially unique display was the exterior display dedicated to our presidents who served our country, before they became presidents, from Roosevelt to G.W Bush. There is also a dedicated interactive children’s space with a specific focus on children during the various wars. We also participated in “The Rescue” an experience of the life of Berna Real, an American refugee during WWII. We will definitely return once the renovation is complete!
I was looking forward to seeing the indoor displays, I knew the library was being renovated but didn't know the interior planes were as well. That was a bummer, though the museum did mention you can come back when it's done and see it free. Only slight downside is that I'm from 1000+ miles away. This is an awesome museum for kids who love learning, exploring, and playing games. The museum had a lot of interactive full fledged electronic games, even for adults. There was quite a bit of work put into the games, LOVED the 1-2 player submarine game, that was awesome. I was straight suffering with the humidity outdoors, seeing this museum in summer wasn't a great idea. The location to an excessive amount of food options was however a great idea. There are 2-3 gift shops for this museum, all with different items. It's worth checking out, would HIGHLY recommend you go during cooler months, there's a lot to see outdoors.
Stopped off here during a trip to see the museum. Definitely worth it and would go again. Lots to see and very educational. Great for adults and kids.
The museum is very interesting although a large portion under construction during our visit. Look forward to seeing the updated museum after completion.
Unfortunately, the Bush Gallery was closed for renovation. However, I was told that if I returned after it was reopened (Grand Opening Dec. 6, 2025), I could re-visit and see the Bush Gallery at no charge upon presenting the original dated receipt. Still, it was interesting to learn the history of Admiral Nimitz, and see other exhibits associated with the museum, which included an PT boat that served in the ETO, and an Avenger Torpedo Bomber (both located at the Combat Zone).
Now is in remodelation, but in December 2025 will be fully renewed with all the exhibits open, now in Summer 2025 there are still a few things to see, and you can get a courtesy to go back when it open fully with the same ticket, you can stay in town to eat German food and drink wine in the Hill Country

Fantastic hiking and beautiful views. Make sure you wear appropriate shoes and bring plenty of water. The hike is more strenuous than you realize, but doable if you plan ahead. Saw lots of beginners struggling because they did not wear good shoes. They have a Kona Ice trailer now which was a nice touch afterward. Highly recommend hiking early and pre-purchasing your permits/timed entry tickets.
Great park in Hill Country. Fantastic views! Some challenging trails with a mix of other trails. Bathroom water at the trailhead was turned off in early November. Wish the trail system was marked better especially when coming down from the top of the hill.
Short, but strenuous hike to the top (Summit trail). Well worth the effort. Other trails not as challenging but also with plenty of opportunities for taking pictures. Very rocky on trails, but the rocks are rough, so it's mostly non-slipery surface that provides good traction. At the time of my visit there was plenty of parking spots still available and I've seen only a handful of tents (November). The fee was $8 per person for a day use paid at the entrance where they also have a little store with souvenirs.
Me and my girlfriend came here a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing!!! We had a blast climbing/steep walking to the top of the rock! Great views and we did the long trail that went around the whole park and while it was a bit of a walk lol it was fun. I would definitely recommend this to anyone on the fence about it!! The price is pretty decent too!
Nice hiking area. We arrived early and I’m glad we did. Line to enter when we left at 11am. The summit trail was nice. The loop trail could use some better markings as sometimes the trail was not evident
Beautiful scenery! Definitely worth going at least once. Hikes are on uneven terrain, but not too difficult to navigate and plenty of places to rest. Also a variety of trails to choose from. You will need to pay to reserve a 2 hour time slot for entry to the park, but once there you can stay as long as you need. You pay the full price entry fee when you reserve and if you are entitled to a discount, such as Senior, the difference can be refunded when you check in at the park gate.
The summit takes a little patience if you're not "fit" and still completely doable. The actual summit's a very broad area with spectacular views. There is also additional hiking areas on the other side.
Pretty views! Although the summit is listed as a "challenging hike" if youre fit and patient (with plenty of water) it isnt bad. Our 5 and 8 year old were able to do it easily, they enjoyed the climb! There is no shade on enchanted rock, so choose a day or time when the sun won't be as brutal. We did get lost coming down the rock, so take good note of where you are when you enter the top, I think we may have come down the side accidentally. Luckily there are lot of trails all around so we found our way back via other trails.

Absolutely beautiful ranch! Inside the gift shop is ridiculously amazing 🤩 I was visiting Fredericksburg for the first time, checking out the German heritage. All of the plants and flowers are well laid out & $5 to walk around the wildflowers and to sit and relax is definitely worth it. Dogs are welcomed and everyone is super friendly. Plus plenty of parking.
This is a new FAVORTIE stop of mine when wine-touring the area! It's got a beautiful butterfly and wildflower garden, an outdoor botanic shop, and an indoor shop selling adorable hand-crafted items, as well as a variety of jams, canned goods, and yummy local snacks. And, of course, they offer a unique selection of wines from their vineyard. You're allowed to sip the wine as you browse the shops and gardens. There are also some cute photo walls for taking pictures. 📷 🍷 🌼 🦋
Pictures taken on 10/25. Free to enter. We were told it’s $5 during full bloom season to walk through the trail. There were so many beautiful flowers, butterflies, and things to see. Gift shop was beautiful and there was a wide variety of plants to purchase along with garden decor. Wine tasted great too.
Wildseed is a favorite place of mine. Whenever we travel to Fredericksburg, we go to Wildseed. Each season is unique to browse the plants and flowers and garden decor. Inside are beautiful gifts and decorations and jams, jellies, wine, and other goodies. It is a privilege to visit this beautiful place over and over. I live near Dallas and each year I plant wildflower seeds from Wildseed and each year, I get my own beautiful wildflower display. Done this for many years.
Many beautiful flowers. Cosmos were in full bloom. Would be nice to see in the spring instead of the heat of summer. Butterflies were flying all over.
I was so impressed by Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg! It’s the largest working wildflower farm in the state—and it shows. The entire space is beautiful, well-kept, and easy to walk through, with plenty of comfortable seating to relax and take it all in. I appreciated the clean and convenient restrooms, lots of free parking, and the variety of experiences—from wine tasting and a snack bar to a full restaurant, unique shopping, and friendly customer service throughout. It’s definitely a family-friendly destination and such a special addition to the Fredericksburg area. Highly recommend visiting!
Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg, Texas, is a stunning destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a peaceful Hill Country escape. Spanning over 200 acres, it’s the largest working wildflower farm in the U.S., and the vibrant fields of poppies, bluebonnets, and cosmos are simply breathtaking in bloom. The walking trails and scenic gardens invite you to slow down and enjoy the beauty of Texas flora. Beyond the fields, there’s a fantastic gift shop stocked with seeds, garden décor, and local goods, plus a charming wine tasting room offering Texas wines. Families and couples alike will enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, photo opportunities, and free admission. The on-site café and seasonal events make it a full-day experience. Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast or just looking for a relaxing outing, Wildseed Farms is a must-visit spot in Fredericksburg that captures the heart of the Hill Country in full color and bloom.
(From October 2025) Go in the fall. The colors are unbelievable and there are butterflies galore. Absolutely beautiful scenes along the walking trail.

Amazing tour & taste experience! This vineyard is on the straight to consumer business model so you will be asked multiple times to join their club membership but there are many good reasons to join if you love their wine. The tour and taste gives visitors a chance to experience the wine and beautiful vineyard without committing to anything. We had a great time and ultimately did choose to try out the membership as their wines were delicious and their customer service could not have been better. On a perfect day, sitting in the patio area feels like sitting in a movie or in a painting. Definitely recommend the tour and the wine to anyone who enjoys sipping the fermented fruit juice! Heath has something for anyone at their family of vineyards!
PERFECT WINERY. This was our first time at Grape Creek and decided to do the tour. I’m SO GLAD we did. My husband and I truly enjoyed ourselves the whole time. Cam, Steven and Dan were so amazing!! For how many tastings you get and all the behind the scenes access, this tour is definitely worth it. Steven and Dan were so knowledgeable, patient and kind. I lean more towards the semi sweet and sweet wines, whereas my husband likes a little of this and that. Dan helped me fine my favorite wine of all time and even went as far as creating a blend of two wines that pair perfectly with steak. We ended up buying both wines! You won’t be disappointed but a visit but I urge you to do the tour!! Totally worth it!
David was absolutely wonderful! The quality of the wines Grape Creek has - and everyone was rather knowledgeable of their processes and history. We were NOT buying another membership but we did. Only suggestion is that you try the wine before you try the sparkling wines. Jason sounds like a really good, competent, and award-winning vinologist. We will probably always stop at Grape Creek and their ?sister wineries whenever we come to Fredericksburg. A MUST DO. I think if you join one and you’re a member of most of them!
We spent a beautiful afternoon at Grape Creek Vineyards, and honestly, Larissa made it unforgettable! From the moment we sat down, she was full of energy, smiles, and genuine kindness. She didn’t just serve us — she made sure every detail was perfect: refilling glasses right on time, recommending her favorite wines (which were spot on!), and checking on us just enough to make us feel pampered but never rushed. The best part? She became our unofficial photographer and took the most spectacular pictures — seriously, they look like something out of a magazine! 📸🍇 Larissa went above and beyond, and that kind of service deserves to be celebrated. We left happy, relaxed, and already planning our next visit back to Grape Creek. Thank you, Larissa, for your wonderful energy, kindness, and for making our wine day one to remember! Cheers to you! 🥂✨
This is a beautiful vineyard. The building itself is lovely and the surroundings add to it! I highly recommend the wine tasting. Get Eve if they let you choose who does your wine tasting. She was very knowledgeable and super friendly! She clearly knows her stuff!
We had the absolute pleasure of being guided by Wine Steward David Dennis during Grape Creek’s Festa della Vendemmia, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. David’s professionalism, deep expertise, and remarkable attention to detail elevated our entire visit. His thoughtful recommendations and passion for wine not only enhanced our tasting, but also inspired us to join the JenBlossom Club with complete confidence. David embodies true hospitality and represents Grape Creek at the highest standard—knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely invested in creating a memorable experience. Bravo Zulu, David! We look forward to many more visits and raising a glass in your honor. -Freddy & Lissie P.
We had an amazing tasting experience at Grape Creek Vineyards! Our taste ambassador, Larissa Rogers, made the visit exceptional. She was knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about the wines, which made the whole experience both fun and informative. She took the time to tailor the tasting to our preferences and shared great vibes and connection behind each pour. The wines were delicious, the setting was beautiful, and Larissa’s hospitality really stood out. Highly recommend asking for her if you visit!
We love grape creek. The Tuscan venue is so inviting. The wines are exceptional good. Melanie our wine expert was fabulous. We highly recommend the beautiful winery. We have been members for over 5 yrs.

This was our first time to the Rockbox and we loved it! Tommy Katona and Texas Flood is AWESOME! A wonderful tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and we were rocking out! We'll definitely be back for more shows and already got tickets to the Christmas show in December!
Treat yourself to a show at The Rockbox Theater. We loved seeing Lee Roy Parnell there. And will definitely be back!
This is a great venue to watch live music. Two Tons of Steel was excellent with the Buddy Holly performance.
Loved it! Got to see an excellent Elvis impersonation. I can tell that many of the people in the crowd has seen him before and back for more. It's a very small venue but actually better that the larger places I've been to. Thinking about seeing the upcoming Merle Haggerd next!
Up from South Padre Island, We needed a pause for the cause! The Fburg never let's us down. We've seen numerous shows here @ the Rockbox throughout the years. Once again, the sound and lighting were spot on! The band was stellar to say the least! We've grown accustomed to awesome performances at this incredible venue. Needless to say, once again, they didn't disappoint. My 87-year-old father had a fantastic experience! Sure wish South Padre Island had this level of entertainment. Once again, the Hill County will have to do.... Plotted. Scouts Screening!
Rockbox Theater is wonderful venue. We have been there many times. The music is always good with very talented entertainers. We make the easy 1 1/2 hour drive to Fredericksburg and return home after the event. Sometimes we enjoy an overnight stay as well.
Awesome place, never knew of the place. Awesome Led Zeppelin cover band. Other cover bands come soon, if you're in town you have to look this place up. Also nice little bar.
We have been multiple times with a wonderful experience! This last time had to be the absolute worse! We were treated poorly by one of the staff because another customer couldn't read their tickets and believed we had their seats! This particular employee was beyond rude!! And we were definitely in the correct seats!! Apparently under new ownership because when I wanted to speak to the owner two employees told me two different people and one just happened to be the rude employee who didn't even know how to read tickets! I'm sure it was to deter us from speaking to owner. The stage was gone and the sound system was lacking!! The group was excellent and couldn't help the poor equipment they had to work with!! They received the very last of my dollars for sure!!!

Q&A about Fredericksburg

You have to check out Fatass Ranch Winery! If you get there early enough, they do wrist bands for wine tastings. It also includes the winery next door that they also own. It has a really cool old car museum inside that’s included in the wrist band price. Also you must check out Luckenbach, Texas. It’s about 10 miles outside the city. It’s a tiny little area that’s popular for famous musicians such as Willie Nelson to play at.

Wine Country ❤ Bingham, Hye Meadow, 290, 290 Wine Castle, Six Shooter, Garrison Brothers, Hilmy, Hye Cider; Hye Market for a tasty meal/snack. Also find the Thai food truck, some of the beat Thai I've ever had! No tours, just wing it! Brewtorium in Austin is pretty great. My last Wine Country haul so you know I know what I'm talking about 🤣
