It was a Sunday so I was not able to experience the full historical significance. I did like the peaceful walk studying the architecture. The plaques were helpful. The lot 63 bakery was a great surprise with the group of folks sitting around playing instruments.
Great historical tour. Get there early and tour the whole town.
It's like a step thru time. Beautiful old town.
It is a very fun and beautiful old town to visit that immerse you in history. You get to experience how things were done a few hundred years ago. The staff was amazing at every building you walked into. They give you so much information about that time period as well as the history of the people that lived there. A must see if you love history. They also have fun little shops like a bakery, coffee shop and a lounge of sorts with live music. Fun fun fun!
So good to learn about history in person. The mixed emotions roll through me,Seeing the beautiful buildings, town and folks making so many important things by hand. But also the sadness and unbelievable truth about smart Americans believing they could own people! Horrible part of or past we should face not hide or downplay.
Old Salem has a nice and cool visitors center to start and end your tour. MESDA has a lovely way to see how households might have looked in the earlier days of WS history. There is a lit of walking on uneven surfaces. The professional docents are kind and informative. Some of the volunteer docents clearly do not like kids and should be encouraged to remember that they have paid tickets too.
It’s always a fun experience to walk around Old Salem. Not sure if it was off-season this time, but there were very few people around. Last time I was here for fall, it was so crowded and so many shops were open. It was still nice to walk around the streets and take some pictures. Some of the museums needed tickets for entry but we didn’t have it. It feels like you’re back in time walking the stone roads and seeing the old architecture.
In each building, we found informative tour guides showing demonstrations. Would like to have seen more artifacts in single girls' home. The walk from one building to the next was easy. Loved all the literature available for children and adults. Quality items to purchase. Coffee shops and restaurant with nice outdoor sitting areas with live music.

I came here for the first time a couple weekends ago because they were doing free admission and it was a great way to spend my afternoon! I had been to Reynolda Village many times but never realized all the history behind this place. I spent about 2.5 hr walking through the place, reading most of the plaques and really enjoying a lot of the artwork throughout. The house is huge, 4 stories in all. I think my favorite spots were the sleeping porches and then the basement with a shooting range, bowling alley, wet bar, and pool! The main level had a ton of open spaces and lounge areas too. Learning more about the entire family, as well as the overall community was fascinating and gave me a deeper appreciation for RV. If you haven't taken a tour yet, I highly recommend it!
A stunning FIVE-STAR self-guided tour of the Reynolda House Museum, built in 1917 as the family residence of Katharine Smith and R.J. Reynolds on a 1,067-acre estate. This comfortable and regal home is frozen in time, reflecting early 20th-century style, and is brimming with period furniture, artwork, accessories, and clothing/fashions—spanning 64 rooms and 34,000 square feet. Highlights include a pipe organ that fills the home with music, a swimming pool, a ping-pong room, a bowling alley, an indoor shooting range, a bank vault, a walk-in wine cellar, and more. The home sits adjacent to Reynolda Village, Reynolda Gardens, and Wake Forest University. We spent a full day exploring the property, but you can take two hours—or two days—to enjoy your visit at your own pace. Another must-see in Winston-Salem is Old Salem, just a short 4-mile drive from the Reynolda House Museum.
I’ll be honest, I’m not usually a huge historical home fan so take my review with a grain of salt. I did think the home was beautiful though! It was $18 (before tax) and I felt like it was worth it. There are four floors total, though the attic is small. The outside of the house was my favorite with the white exterior and green windows. If you can swing it, I’d recommend going in the afternoon so you can hear the organ play at 2:45 PM (it’s not exact because I guess it takes a while to turn on) and is digitized. It’s pretty cool though to hear the music while you’re walking through the house. I’ll review it separately, but definitely check out the gardens while you are there! They are free!
I have lived with 15 minutes of this Museum for close to 20 years and this was my first visit. What vision Katharine Reynolds had in the early 1900s. The house and the gardens are gorgeous. Walked out a Patron member. Thank you for making today a great day
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to reynolda house museum in Reynolda village. The walk to the museum was so peaceful and full of nature. I walked past turtles in the river, snakes in the woods, and so many different flowers along the way. It was so special to walk around and see. When I got to the museum it had an exhibit of cigarettes. The whole exhibit was full of history about cigarettes and how they were branded in society. It was really cool to walk around and see so much history. I was happy to get an understanding about how cigarettes were branded and how they came to be so popular in Winston Salem. I’m very happy with this visit to a museum and I totally recommend a visit by anyone who is interested in history, art, or museums.
Great walking trails and scenery. I wish there were more garbage cans throughout the park. I had to cary some trash on an entire 2+ mile walk because I couldn't find a trash can anywhere.
Free with NARM membership. Mansion that belonged to R. J. Reynolds family. Really nice art collection and the home is a gorgeous 4 story mansion.
I didn't get to do a complete tour because I was tirrrreeeed, it was so big and interesting lol But I will definitely go back

A beautiful cemetery 🪦 directly in between Old Salem and downtown Winston Salem. The headstones are equally placed and flat to highlight equality under God. This is a peaceful place to reflect on history and the lives who helped build this city. The cemetery has ♿ handicap accessible parking nearby but the paths do lack some accessibility.
Peaceful area. All the headstones, nearly flat, represent equality in death from Gods point of view. Hopefully they were all equal under Gods eyes during their lives as well.
My beloved sister Melaine is buried at God’s Acre. What a BEAUTIFUL cemetery! It’s so peaceful and very maintained.
Such a beautifully kept cemetery full of history and still so unique as they still have separate sections for the men, women and children.
This is an interesting graveyard. It’s very pretty and right by all the cool old historical buildings in Old Salem. There is some information posted about the graveyard - the main thing being the explanation for all the headstones looking exactly the same. This is to represent that the dead are all equal. I feel like the Moravians must also have felt that all are equal while alive. I wish our modern society could incorporate more of that way of thinking.
We spent a little time here reading some of the names and dates on the tombstones.. it seems very peaceful there for being a graveyard.. we took a few pictures and I have shared a couple . Please look closely at one if the trees in the rooted area.. now I'm not trying to be spooky but I easliy picked up faces after I went back home and reviewed the photos.... I have included a closer up of the roots as well.. if you're in the area you should visit this place.. enjoy!!
Perfect place for a peaceful walk

This is a FANTASTIC space for younger and athletic kids. Tons of spaces to climb and stretch, a fabulous "theater" space, and an awesome section of handmade wooden toys that explored simple machines and gravity. My 5yo had an absolute blast. Everything was clean and well organized with a friendly staff.
My little brother had a blast! We did just about everything but story time (we just missed it!). We took a walk around downtown to get some air and we came back for a little. He really enjoyed himself. I recommend coming earlier in the day.
Went here for the first time for a field trip with my daughter. Lots of interactive fun for kids. Unfortunately, she had a broken arm and could not do the climbing structures so we will be going back when her arm is healed. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends with young children.
My 2-year old had a total blast here! We got some free tickets from my friend's job and showed up early in the morning. The kids had so much fun we stayed for four hours! They were completely wiped out by the time we left
This is an amazing place to bring children of any age. My two year old son had a blast here! There's a library area, workshop, a huge imaginitive play area, a climable multi story beanstock, and an extremely unique outdoor hanging playground. Although there is no place to buy food in the building, they do have vending machines and areas to eat brought in food. While visiting on a Friday afternoon they had music time in the library where kids got to sing along, make music, and dance. This place is one of a kind and must see especially if you have young kids!
Fun Day! I wish the entrance is cheaper for younger toddlers. We went on a Saturday around 1pm, about 10 minutes later the place was packed! The most popular area was the Krispy Kreme donut factory. It was hard to allow my 12month old walk around that area as busy older kids can easily bump on her. She definitely enjoyed watching all big kids around her. We will definitely go back!
This is a small but nice children's museum. There is an adorable grocery store and donut shop. There is also a very cute area with a little forest and houses. It's great to take small children too.
We love this place. We have been coming here since our children were babies. We always have a wonderful time when we visit here. It is always clean and the staff is very professional and kind.

I came over to Winston-Salem to see my hometown Greensboro Grasshoppers play. I was very impressed with the entire experience at Truist Stadium! Staff are friendly and helpful. The facility is also modern and clean. They have excellent food and beverage choices. I enjoyed walking around checking out the various craft beer options. The areas for fans to hang out and watch the game around the stadium are top notch. I got a “Dash City Lager” from Foothills Brewpub and enjoyed it on their perch in the outfield.
Really nice stadium. Paid for parking in advance and worth every dime. Seats were in right field (home run seats) and were very close to the parking lot. Rides for kids. Great food with lots of options. The sun was rough in the afternoon so I would advise sunglasses and a ball cap or visor for these seats. Overall great experience. Beautiful ball park.
Went to my first Dash game. I got to the park early and had no idea where to park. (Handicapped spot) I ask an attendant at another lot, who pointed to the right lot and told me who to see. The people at the main lot were very helpful, including the worker that advised me to back into my spot so I would not get blocked in I left. I didn't do my research beforehand. You pay for parking either by an app or at a kiosk. No cash accepted. Same for concessions no cash. The ball park is beautiful! The seats are comfortable and spaced so you don't feel like you are crowding the person sitting beside you. I went on a Tuesday night so it was not crowded. I never waited in line for anything. If I'm in town again I will definitely try to take in another game.
Truist stadium was an awesome place to catch some minor league baseball. If been here a few times and it’s always easy getting in and out of the ballpark. They only take debit or credit cards now. No cash.
We went there to see the Tiger Kim's taekwondo demo and watch Wicked. It was free. The only cost was concessions. And those were reasonable. It was super cool.
This is, without a doubt, one of the top minor league ballparks that we've visited. The food options are fantastic, adding the Carolina style into the mix. The entertainment engages fans during the mid- and end-inning breaks.
Went for a ball game with the family and we really enjoyed it.
Great time at the Dash Baseball game. Place is very clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. Food options were plentiful. Prices aren’t too bad for food , they seem more for alcohol which is typical for ball fields. Seating around the field is pretty good. We were in 205 row 1 👌 (see pics)

Hard to rate this attraction. I loved the clam shape gas station. It was a look back in time. It cost nothing to see. After you take a few pictures there is not much left to do there. If you're in Winston Salem, it's worth a stop to see. You probably wouldn't want to plan a vacation around it.
I gave it 5 stars even though it's not functional but because it's well restored and very rare being the only one left of its kind. Amazing landmark definitely worth taking a look and a photo but don't expect much more. It's sits on a neighborhood street corner with nothing else to do and very little parking space so your trip will Most likely be short.
What a time to have lived in. Wish they had stuck to the "Shell" Gas station. How fun would these have been. Great historical landmark to see how gimmicky we were even back in the 30's. Very well kept. Lots of Shell memorabilia inside. I got a big kick out of it and even fueled up! 😉 Great way to spend 10mins checking this Shell out.
Spotted this golden clam-shaped gas station thanks to The Impossible Road Trip book by Eric Dregni. It’s a quirky roadside attraction tucked in the middle of nowhere, but surprisingly well-maintained. Worth a quick photo stop. There was another couple there, so apparently I’m not the only one shell-struck.
We found this place on our girls trip. It’s very neat if you’re in the area.
It's lovely to see this located in a neighborhood. You can peek inside the door, and there are decorations visible, giving you a glimpse of what it looks like inside.
It was really cool to see the gas station. We were on Google, trying to find historical sites in Greensboro, NC and we came across this gas station from the 1930's!
A cute little road side attraction. Doesn't take long. We drove by with our camper so I couldn't stop and get out, but interesting to see
