Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores is a city on Alabama's Gulf Coast. Its Gulf State Park has beaches, trails and a pier, plus a golf course and a zip line over the dunes. To the west, sea turtles and migratory birds thrive among the coastal habitats of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Farther west, 19th-century Fort Morgan guards Mobile Bay. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo offers hands-on encounters with lemurs, kangaroos and sloths.

Small zoo that does not disappoint! Lots of really cool animals. Big Cats, alligators, lemurs, monkeys, giraffes, and much more It was very hot the day we visited but the experience was made better by misting sections and well air conditioned buildings for cooling off. The barn animals were cute and although the mining section wasn’t working that day; we were able to buy a bag and sorted through our gems at home. Which my kids liked doing it this way more than when we have done them at other zoos before! We got the big bag, and there is SO MUCH included in it! We ended it with my 15 year old taking a ride on the zip line ride thing. It was $15 and he said it was really cool at the top to be able to see the entire zoo and town too. The gift shop seemed pretty reasonable priced to other gift shops. they had some really funny shirts and lots of items to choose from. I would recommend them getting a better variety of magnets but other than that, 10 out of 10!
This is a nice zoo, but it is small. We walked it in less than an hour. It is also laid out very confusing. It has paths to walk that do not go straight to the exhibits. I enjoyed the animals they had. They seemed to have good habitats and exhibits. They had other rides that were nice, like a merry go round and a zip line ride. We had fun and would probably come back.
Absolutely amazing, just as I had hoped it would be. It was 91 out we went 9/21/25 and most animals were nowhere to be found. Then I decided to go backwards and see if anything came out. I'm glad I did we saw both lions, both porcupine and even Benjamin was walking towards us. Such a great little zoo. I used to watch the show Little Zoo that could I believe. Just amazing great work yall! And Miss Patti (caretaker who was director during the show and hurricanes) Thank you for saving these animals.
Fun day at this zoo. Arrived early and got to see morning feedings. I especially loved the giraffes and lions. Gift shop employees were very friendly and welcoming. There is plenty of parking as well .
There weren’t any clear signs directing visitors to the different buildings, like the reptile house or bird area, which made it a bit confusing to know where to go. Some of the exhibits were also under construction. We did visit on a colder day, so several of the animals weren’t out, but overall it was still a fun experience! Two of the seniors in our group rented scooters — they were $20 each, very fast, and had great brakes, which made it easier for them to get around comfortably. We also did the Sloth Encounter — while we didn’t get to pet the sloth, we really enjoyed meeting Archie the armadillo! He was absolutely hilarious and ended up being my favorite animal there.
This is a wonderful zoo! Somewhat smaller than some of the zoos in larger metropolitan areas, this quiet zoo was a perfect place to take our young kiddos for a more intimate and leisurely experience with the animals! The staff was also super friendly, and there were plenty of restrooms and places to hydrate scattered throughout the zoo. In addition to being stroller friendly, there were mist hoses (a wonderful way to provide visitors a break from the heat), playgrounds, and benches at all the major exhibits. We can’t wait to return!
Wonderful, if relatively small, zoo. I grew up visiting it in its previous Gulf Shores location; this is a massive improvement! We visited with a 2.5 year old, a 1 year old, and an 8 month old. We went right at open, and I would definitely recommend doing that, both for heat and smaller crowds. The keepers were very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed speaking with several of them. There are several extra activities for younger kids: a carousel, animal feeding, a small train, "mining," and safari carts. For older kids or adults, there are several animal encounters that require reservations, so plan ahead for any extras you want to do.
It was very expensive, for a regular, nothing special zoo. We paid $25/ each person extra, just to see a couple sloths not really do anything, and you can see them from outside their living area for free. If I'd known this we wouldn't have paid extra. The animals looked hot and miserable, and most are hiding to try and stay cool.

Beautiful park with tons to do over 20 miles of trails. Rented e-bikes for 4 hrs it was so fun! The views and well maintained trails were nice. The nature center had many coastal reptiles and very informative. Also the beach access is very clean with bathrooms, pavilion and life guards on duty. The parking is $10
Spectacular resort state park. Many ways to stay… RV, tent, lodge (run by Hilton), cabins. Beautiful clean beach, large pool at the campground, play area for the kids and miles of hiking and bike trails. Restrooms and bath houses are super clean and modern.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our day at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama was absolutely amazing and easily one of the highlights of our trip. We decided to rent e-bikes from a local company called Paradise Pedal LLC, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. The owner was so kind and helpful from start to finish. He went above and beyond to make sure our family had everything we needed for a perfect ride. We have a three-year-old and a seven-year-old, and he set us up with two great little carriages for the kids so they could ride along safely and comfortably. He even made us a great deal and personally delivered the bikes to us so we could start our adventure right at the park. The bikes themselves were in perfect condition and such a joy to ride. The electric assist made it easy to cruise along the trails and enjoy all the beautiful scenery without getting tired. The trails through Gulf State Park are stunning. There are lakes, boardwalks, and so many peaceful paths that make you feel surrounded by nature. We passed through shaded areas, open stretches by the water, and even spotted some wildlife along the way. It was so relaxing and fun to explore everything at our own pace. The kids had an absolute blast riding in the carriages, laughing and pointing out things along the way. It was such a great family experience that everyone enjoyed. The park itself is very clean, well maintained, and easy to navigate. There are rest stops, picnic areas, and lots of places to take a break and enjoy the view. I cannot recommend Gulf State Park enough, especially if you pair your visit with an e-bike rental from Paradise Pedal LLC. The combination of beautiful scenery, smooth trails, and such kind service made for a perfect day. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Gulf Shores. It is a must-do for families or anyone who loves being outdoors and exploring in a fun and relaxing way.
Excellent location! Close to aqua green beaches and fantastic restaurants, shopping, and a short drive to awesome Fort Morgan, Fairhope and Foley. Beautiful trails crisscross through and around the park. Gorgeous freshwater lake for fishing, swimming or boating. Clean, spacious, well cared for RV sites with shade trees and grass. Huge gorgeous pool. The showers are okay. Better than some I've seen. Laundry room has several machines. This is a safe, gated part, with friendly and accommodating staff.
Very relaxing place where you can sit by the water for hours or go for a walk or ride a bike or...whatever you want to do. There's so much to do in nature in God's creation. It's just peaceful place that every time I'm in the area I will go. My husband and I enjoy it so much.
We finally made it to Gulf State Park for our anniversary trip! It's a place we've wanted to visit for years, especially since getting our e-bikes. After a few tries of finding a spot, we were so excited to book our stay. 😁 On our anniversary, we drove the scenic coast in our Jeep, stopping along the way to enjoy appetizers from Gulf Shores to Destin and back. We ended the night watching the sunset at the beach. It was a perfect way to celebrate. 🥂💖 In the remaining two days, we biked over 85 miles, exploring all the park's trails and even riding the Fort Morgan Road trail outside the park. 🚲 I can confidently say this is the best state park we've ever camped at—they truly have thought of everything. We're already planning our next trip and can't recommend it enough! 🏕️ #lanclosadventures
Beautiful park with tons of amenities, and it's right across the street from a beautiful beach! The camper sites are generous and plenty... this place is huge! They have full hookups, a swimming pool and splash pad, electric bike rentals, ice machines, and the nicest staff... what more could you want? This is probably one of the nicest campgrounds I've ever been to if you include all the amenities and the beach across the street... I'll definitely be back!
Only saw the huge pier but it was beautiful. Seasonal restaurant and bar on site, great owners! Fish from the pier or just site see. Bait cutting tables available along the pier as well as a fish cleaning station with a grinder to discard the trash.

The newly refinished pier is so nice; busy with so many fishermen. My visit was bitter sweet since I went to keep a promise I had made to my husband before he passed away. The last time I had taken him there to fish, his health had already diminished his ability to walk & so being in a wheelchair he fished near the beginning of the pier, since the end had not yet been rebuilt because of the hurricane damage. It is so beautiful, and they honor us Veterans with discounts, so I was able to bring his ashes with me, to be together on the fully finished pier as I had promised we would do once it was finished❤️ THANK YOU Gulf State Park Pier for your kindness!!
Pier was probably the nicest pier I've ever been too. It does cost to park and go on the pier, but it was well worth it. Kids 11 and under are free. Also, if you take your parking pass stub to pay for entry to the pier, you get one free entry. Employees were very nice and helpful. There's ice cream, food, drinks, and clean bathrooms. Also, you can't beat the view of the beautiful beach and ocean. It was fun to watch people catch fish.
We went to Gulf State Park Pier a little before sunset on the last evening of our vacation. This was the PERFECT time to go! The sun was at a point to where we could see beneath the surface of the water allowing us to watch schools of fish swimming, a few crabs and even spot some nice shells! On the opposite side of the pier we saw multiple dolphins playing (at least 6) and swimming. Nearer the pier we noticed fish began to jump out of the water and then we saw a shark swimming right below us! We understood why those fish were jumping after that. We made our way down the pier and wound up seeing a shark twice more as multiple fishermen caught ladyfish and mackerel all around us. The sun finally completely set and the sky grew dark except for the sliver of moon and the stars. It was a really awesome walk on the pier with a lot of action and a beautiful sunset and moonrise. If you’re looking for an affordable and fun way to spend an evening, head to the Gulf State Park Pier and see what you can discover in the water 😊
Parking was $10 and for 2 of us $3 to walk the pier and enjoy the sunset. The early evening breeze made the visit very comfortable even though it was 93 degrees when we arrived
Best peir, around well managed very helpful staff. Veteran friendly parking, get your discounted parking and pass at the window for veterans with ID. Went back multiple times. Lots of dolphins to see sharks and sea turtles. Such a great time.
The Gulf State Park Pier has been seriously upgraded since my last visit. It had been damaged and they have done quite a lot of repairs and updates. I had no idea that they had started charging to go to the far end of the pier as that wasn't the case when I last visited. As a veteran I get free parking and also free entrance to the pier. I never saw any signage that indicated I had to pay to walk out to the pier but I did get yelled at for just walking out on the pier past the "commercial zone" and had to show my military veteran ID to proceed. I found it odd that I was somehow magically supposed to know that there was a fee or requirement to show my veteran ID when I never saw any sign to that effect. The lady that yelled at me came out of a door so she was inside where I couldn't have seen her so they should certainly add some signs that explain what they want more clearly to avoid weird situations like this. They also have a restaurant and bar here but I would suggest eating somewhere else. The pier does seem to be a decent place to fish and I saw several people bringing in some nice sized fish. Overall this seems like a good option if you want to fish off a pier or just enjoy the great view here. If I had to pay to just walk to the end of the pier I wouldn't have done that as you can get a good enough view from the "commercial zone" where the bar and restaurant are located. Overall this is an interesting spot to check out but I just heard they have raised the price of parking so that might make this area less attractive to visit.
I fished here for two days. What a great learning experience, and the staff are great people quick to help . Seeing a sea turtle made my day . Best $10 bucks parking and going out on the pier ($2.00) part of your parking ticket lower half gives you excess to the pier .
Great state park and beautiful fireworks display on Independence Day. Safe walkover in traffic and nice fishing pier. Gulf State Park is a wonderful, family-friendly atmosphere from offering camping, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, and much more.

Really nice staff here, was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and told us a few places to get a good bite. Thank you!
The lady working there is so helpful and so friendly, I definitely recommend stopping by here if you're vacationing in the area! She has tons of information on stuff to do!
Stopped by to kill some time before checking into our hotel! Regina was super friendly came out and offered to take a picture of us. And she was so friendly and helpful!
Stopped by for info on Fort Morgan and seafood restaurants in Gulf Shores, Alabama, area. Very courteous and helpful attendant.
We went to the Welcome Center on our 2nd day in Gulf Shores. Regina not only helped us out with anything and everything we could want to know but was honestly one of the coolest and down-to-Earth persons you could hope to meet. We had such a great mixture of local information and good conversation with her. She and my wife had so much in common as they are/were both educators. The facility is clean and beautiful on the inside and well air-conditioned (we went there in July).
The Gulf Shores Welcome Center was our first stop when we arrived at the Alabama Gulf Coast. Michelle was great! She greeted us immediately upon our arrival and gave us all the information to get our Girls Getaway started off right. She was very hospitable and did not get annoyed by all of our many questions. She was helpful with information about dining and attractions and was very honest if she didn't know the answer to our questions. We are looking forward to the rest of our trip. Thank you so much for all of your help, Michelle!
This is a must stop if you're visiting the area for the first time or returning. You will want to pick up your coupon books for all family members. They have information on about everything but Barber Marina and Roadkill Cafe (Google). Great staff. Beautiful building.

Great family Waterpark if you are in this area you must visit this place I felt very safe we had our 8-year-old play in almost every water ride they are lifeguards everywhere there's nothing to worry about very peaceful it has a pool with waves very amazing and good very family-oriented in the food is not expensive and it was really really good must try the chicken tenders they were really really good in the french fries most common food but it is really good overall five stars 10 Stars I will visit this place all the time if I am around the town
Bought tickets online to save time but there wasn't a different line for advance tickets so I'm not sure if it's worth doing. For 30 to 40 and person, I think it's a reasonable price for a day at the water park. The wave pool wasn't too crowded. There are times when there are waves and times when the waves are off. Price for food wasn't horrible like other parks. 3 chicken strips with fries and a drink was 10.00 AND it tastes good. I'm used to parks closing later in the evening or even at night like 9 but this place closes at 6. No complaints from me😊
Had a great day at the park with my family. Love having free sunscreen stations available. Food was good, and rides were fun with little to no wait even on a Saturday.
I took my family to Waterville on 7/16 and was really impressed with everything. We setup our place to sit next to the kids area so we could keep an eye on my youngest daughter as she played. All of the lifeguards did a great job, but a young guy named Brian was without a doubt the best. As the kids played, he was actively clapping for them, interacting with the kids, and just had an overall great attitude doing his job. As a small business owner, I appreciate it when I see employees going above and beyond. On a sidenote... The food pricing was very fair.
We had an awesome day. The park is clean, tons of slides, and VERY helpful employees. Food and drinks are great, and reasonably priced! Most know this park has been in the same location for over 40 years. I have not been in many years and was a bit hesitant to go wondering if it was still in good shape. What a pleasant surprise to find it was in PERFECT shape. We arrived at opening time (10am) and it was nice to avoid the crowd to get in. TIP: If you purchase your ticket online you still have to get an armband that is only available in the main ticket line. Once inside we raced to every slide to avoid the lines we expected later in the day. It turned out although the park was really crowed the lines for every slide were short, we never waited more than five minutes to ride any slide. We rode every slide including the "Speed Demon" that starts out straight down. There are slides that are daring down to baby slides and everything in between. The lazy river was a hit with our family, we spent time relaxing and watching all the action on the slides. The wave pool was also a lot of fun and of course the FlowRider was too much fun! I highly recommend Waterville and plan to return on our next beach trip. Hats off to ALL the lifeguards, gosh there are so many. Not only do they make it safe for all to enjoy each lifeguard had a great attitude and all smiles! Thank you Waterville for a fun filled day!
Reasonable prices/ Good assortment of attractions. Cabanas are ok, the service was quick and they constantly checked on you which in turn made it a good deal. Rides were good for a good bit of the day. For what is worth, it's something good to do for one day of your vacation.
Great affordable Waterpark. There are slides for all ages. The lazy river is soooo relaxing and we enjoyed the wave pool. The food is pretty decent but watch out for the seagulls, they will try to get at your food. If you pay with card, you must show ID. Parking is pretty good. We havent had more than a minute walk from parking spot to entrance when we visited on a weekday around 12pm several times. The lifeguards are attentive and helpful. We visit here at least once a summer and have always enjoyed our time.
Booked the Hurricane escape room for a group of seven. All of us are pretty experienced with escape rooms and have been on a hunt for a good place to play in the Gulf Shores area. The pros: Multiple rooms, nice set design, and some arcade games and seating to enjoy while you wait for your game to start. Areas for improvement: Puzzle design, customer service, and clues. Our experience could have been improved greatly had the staff been a bit more attentive. Also, stopping the timer at the end of the game would have added a lot of clarity on whether or not the game was complete! Overall: Worth a try, but go in with the understanding that the escape room is one of Waterville's many attractions, and not their specialty.

The beach is clean. The sand is so very soft and fluffy 🤩 The water is beautiful. We all had a great time. I definitely suggest lots of sunscreen!! There was like 3 jellyfish 🪼 in the water. You also might have to watch out for some of the rude people fishing from the beach 2 feet in front of you and your children. 🤦‍♀️
This is an Awesome nice clean beach! The sun rises and sets on the ocean here! It's just Beautiful!❤️
This beach is dog-friendly and we had a blast. White sand beaches similar to Pensacola, without the massive crowds. We've been down to Gulf Shores six times and each time had a blast. There is plenty of parking. Beach chairs are available to rent if you want, and there are public foot shower stations to wash that sand off so you don't take it with you.
I love visiting Gulf Shores. Wonderful pier to fish from with Tiki bar to relax at. Beautiful powder sand beaches with walkways, volleyball nets, and water activities.
Beautiful Big Beach! Very clean. No dogs or glass containers allowed. Lifeguards present. Dolphins at often seen playing right in sight. Several places to eat within walking distance. Island Market store right off the beach for you to buy anything you forgot to pack. Free public restrooms and showers. Paid parking available for a reasonable price. Beach chairs and umbrellas available for rent.
Beautiful beach $5.40 to park 4 hrs. Clean, spacious, & right behind some really good places to eat.
Beautiful and clean. White sand and we'll maintained. Every day we came out u could tell the sand had been racked. Bathrooms nice and the beach was very family oriented and no tom foolery!
Very friendly and clean. Nice breakfast area. The rooms are big and well organized. Very nice view Thank you Mr.Michael for your help and support.

The recently redid the Gulf State Park. Sea n’ Suds is a very casual restaurant that has been there forever. I like eating at The Gulf in Orange Beach & swimming across the street at the Pass. Fort Morgan is neat if you are into historical places. Mostly, just enjoy the beautiful beach!

Are you wanting to stay on the beach? In Mobile which is not far there is a cute hotel. It’s older but lots of history. Let me find the link. I stayed there and it’s about 15-10 mins to the beach
