Very nice boat to go across. We bought the tickets in advance and went straight to the dock to board. They have free parking. Some of the boats go under the bridge which was fantastic. And as you get near, you get to see the Grand Hotel in all its majesty. Wonderful ride to Mackinac and back.
Simply the best place ever to simply be able to un plug fron the everyday mess and hit the rewind button and go back just far enuff too be able to breath again and this is the best place to relax where you can hit simply hit the reset button and get you back to where you actually want to be again
These people are awesome! I don't know how they do it, but they keep everything straight, on time, and very organized. We had luggage and our bikes. They made sure our luggage got to our resort right on time, and everything is ticketed. I bought our tickets online and printed them out, so it made it very easy. If you do this, you still have to take your tickets inside and get a tag for your bike. The ride over to the island was so beautiful. When we returned, it was the same process. I told the resort we would be on the 10:30 ferry and our luggage was there at 10:30. No issues what so ever.
I am a lifelong Arnold line customer and had to figure out new logistics to Mackinac Island for the first time. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised with our service and trips to/from the Island. We took the ferry from St. Ignace (first time - always Mackinaw City) and went under the bridge on the way. It was perfect and unique. The way home was quick and easy. I miss the slow boats and teared up when I saw a few drydocked but will give the Star Line credit for a nice experience.
Easy shuttle ride to the boat. Getting tickets online was quick, I actually bought them while standing in line for the shuttle lol friendly all around
Our day started out rainy- So we had to sit inside, the staff was friendly - but no ride under the bridge due to weather but it was our ride back that was the BEST! Due to the rain the Lake was still rough and the ride scheduled to go under the bridge was iffy AGAIN. But Captain LARRY was game and he took us under the bridge. We had so much fun and enjoyed the trip - Rain and ALL!! Thanks Captain LARRY! This group will remember just how much fun you were!! Plenty of parking - come 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. If your order your tickets on-line there is a discount.
The staff were amazing, they are very professional about the COVID restrictions. When we got on the ferry at first it was nice to go on top to view the city as youre leaving, but once they got the ferry up to full speed it was a bit cold so we went to the bottom deck and had a great experience. I really like how they take you around the Mackinac Bridge on the way to the island. Awesome experience! Hope to do it again one day.
Customer service was good. Ferry came on time. We selected a time that takes you below the Mackinac bridge from St Ignace. Totally worth it. We parked on one of the overnight parking lots since we were staying on the island. Ferry from St Ignace definitely is much less crowded. On a chilly day I would advise avoiding the first rows on top, we were freezing. If you book a hotel that includes porter service they will take the luggage for you from St Ignace and a porter will take the luggage on the island from the dock to the hotel. If not they will ask you to carry it yourself till a drop off location. The 4 versus 5 star was because maybe when i shared we had luggage when buying the tickets they could have given instructions on where to drop the luggage all she said was they will take it. No they wont unless you have a hotel booked that includes porter service, you will need to take it to a drop off location. Minor thing but itd have been a 5 if not for that.

This is a nice little park with a good view of the bridge. It's also a great spot to watch the sunset! The beach is rocky, but you can get into the lake from here. It's nice and clear. No one was swimming when we were there (not sure if this is a good swim spot??), but there were a few kids throwing rocks in the lake. They were really enjoying themselves! The seagulls were a little aggressive, and didn't have any fear of humans at all. Please don't feed the seagulls! There are a few benches, if you want to sit and just admire the lake, the bridge, or the sunset. I don't think you could see the sunrise as well from this spot, but it might be worth a try? The parking lot is pretty big, and there weren't many people there when we were there, so I don't think parking would be an issue very often. It's a nice park! Check it out some evening!
Bridge View Park is an absolute gem for anyone visiting the area or just looking for a peaceful, well-maintained place to unwind. The biggest highlight is, of course, the breathtaking views of the Mackinac Bridge—you can capture incredible photos from several vantage points across the park. Whether you’re into photography, sightseeing, or simply relaxing with a view, this place delivers. The restrooms were impressively clean and clearly well-maintained, which made our visit even more comfortable. It's something you don’t always find in public parks, and it definitely stood out here. What I really appreciated was how the park blends natural beauty with local history. There are historic buildings and informative markers throughout the area that guide you through the significance of the Straits region. It’s like a walking tour through time—engaging, educational, and perfect for families or curious travelers. There are also plenty of rest areas with benches and shaded spots, so you can relax, picnic, or just sit and watch the freighters pass through. Everything feels thoughtfully laid out and accessible for all ages.
Drove to the Mackinac Bridge for the first time while in northern Michigan. Seen it in the morning darkness, lighted,it was amazing. Stayed until daylight to see it. It was well with the drive. Just an amazing Bridge the main cable masts are much taller than I thought. If you get the oppertunity to go see it go.
Parked here for the 2025 Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk. Great close parking for handicapped, and closer than any place else for non-handicapped. No fee. Beautiful weather, and almost everyone was wonderful. Heard 33,000 people participated in the bridge walk this year. I would highly recommend it! I took my rollator and was able to get from St Ignace to the 1st pillar and back (approximately 2 miles, in each direction). The bridge really sways, even in calm weather, so if you have problems with motion, you may want to take your medication before you go. Fun was had by all!
A pleasant stop with a fantastic view of the entire bridge, It was very clean and had plenty of parking. We sat and enjoyed a nice lunch on an incredibly beautiful fall afternoon. It was a perfect break on our drive heading home from Paradise.
Such a peaceful and beautiful place to enjoy a closer view of the bridge from! Very clean and well taken care of. Just wish we had visited sooner!
Absolutely loved our time at Bridge View Park! The view of the Mackinac Bridge is breathtaking—truly a sight to behold. The park offers a perfect spot for relaxing by the water, enjoying the scenery, and spending quality time with family or friends. The rocky shoreline and grassy areas are great for picnics and exploration, and the view of the bridge is just stunning. Highly recommend visiting for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Michigan’s Great Lakes and iconic landmarks. We can't wait to come back!
This bridge was truly a sight to see! My children woke up from their naps just in time to soak in the breathtaking view—it felt like perfect timing. We captured some beautiful footage and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of crossing the iconic Mackinac Bridge on our way to the island. It was not only scenic but also memorable. We’re already looking forward to visiting again, God willing. A must-see if you’re in Michigan!

Super fun place to experience all kinds of things. We went for our anniversary to try zip lining for the first time! The views were BEAUTIFUL. The staff is so patient, funny and kind. They will make you feel safe when you're nervous.. like me 😅 Definitely recommend!
Unique stop, worth the money. Mystery spot tour is short but interesting. Mini golf, maze, and Zip line are additional things to do. Good sized gift shop as well. Second time I've been here and wasn't disappointed.
The Mystery Spot was such a fun and unique experience! The way gravity felt so different there was mind-blowing and honestly hard to believe until you experience it yourself. They also had a maze, mini golf, and even a zip line which added even more excitement to the visit. Overall, it was something out of the ordinary and I absolutely loved it!
What a fun and unique stop. The staff were all amazing and friendly. My daughter took the leap on the zip lines and enjoyed it. The view from the top was amazing. Gift store was clean, very nice with a variety of things for kids and for adults. Overall worth the detour if you are visiting the U.P. Thank you Mystery Spot!
Mystery spot is pretty cool, but it's just forced perspective. They have a few Illusions, I did the chair, which they said only 2% of people can stand up out of unassisted, I did it first try, no problem. Then there's a slope they have you walk up and down. They said 80% say it's easier to walk up, 10% say down, and 10% say it's the same (I'm in that 10%) which it is. It is pretty neat tho and I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're ever nearby.
Sooooooo much fun! There was so much to do here. My brother and I came here when we were kids about 25 years ago, and it was better than ever this time! From the actual tour to the zip-lining you can do, the rounds of mini-golf you can play, to the wonderful maze they’ve created…this place does it all! 10/10 highly recommend!!
This was a nice touristy place to stop. The mystery House was pretty cool. They also had a maze and Putt-Putt golf and zip lining. And a great ice cream place on the parking lot. The ice cream was very good.
Fantastic place to go as a family! Zip-lines, putt putt golf, a fun maze, ice cream spot and of course the mystery spot.

Local history museum
Museums
City museum, open seasonally, dedicated to local native culture, with a longhouse & crafts shop.

Google is inaccurately stating that this is closed. It is not. They even have big signs that say "Open" outside of the museum. This is a nice, small museum. It has a lot of information packed inside. There's a gift shop with great items. My kids liked the little kids' coloring area. The people working there are friendly.
Stopping in to check this out was a smart decision! There is no charge to walk the grounds and go through the building, but there is a donation box. I suggest dropping a couple of $20's in the box. Supporting any museum is a good cause in my book. The gift shop area is full of locally handmade items such as dream catchers, knives, jewelry, etc. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. The artistry and craftsmanship of the items for sale are amazing! It was well worth stopping by and spending some time here!
I can't say enough about how exceptional this cultural museum is. I was there for hours and could have stayed longer. The information and resources available are wonderful. The book shop selections are extensive. The outdoor gardens and sculpture park are great. I especially liked the medicine wheel garden. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well.
Excellent educational opportunity to learn about both the Ojibwa culture/history and some information about Father Maquette. The indoor exhibits way back need better lighting but the other displays and videos were very very good. The store across the street (on the lake shoreline) has some great views and is stuffed with tshirts and trinkets etc. including a large selection of moccasins.
Excellent museum. Very clean, great displays, a lot of native history and friendly staff. No admission price but accept donations to keep the museum open.
The Museum of Ojibwa Culture is both enlightening and somber. The museum is donation based, self-guided, has some videos to watch, and includes interesting artifacts. It is small but teaches quite a bit. The outside has informational plaques, buildings, metal artwork that explains traditions and several gardens. The first time I went, I wondered why I never learned about this in school. As an adult, I knew the information, but this museum told the story of the Ojibway people in a factual way that I had never heard before. It made me get curious and ask more questions. Later while co-teaching a 7th grade social studies class, we spent 3 days on all things “Indian”; Trail of Tears and the Indian Removal Act. I can see how I might not remember content from my own 7th grade social studies class. The self-guided aspect of the inside museum and the grounds allows for reflection. Each time I visit, I find something new to learn. This space is wheelchair accessible for the museum. The outside buildings and gardens are spread out without a path.
A good look at what was taken and who was lifted after the genocide of MANY first Nation peoples. None of the atrocious things like cutting out the tongue of any speaking their native language - how many buried at this museum? Left with a heavy heart.
Nicely maintained small museum with informative displays both indoors and on the grounds. They also have a good selection of books for purchase related to the history and cultures of the local native populations. Admission is by donation.
