This is an exceptionally beautiful place. There are many birds and there is a gift shop and there are picnic areas and historical sites really a wonderful place to go. But the best thing about / the San Pedro house / that is what we call it here in Cochise County the San Pedro house. The best thing is the hiking here is incredible. It is best to come here in the winter and the spring however I went for a hike in the summer here and if it's not too hot I can be very pleasant. Wonderful place to take photographs wonderful Natural riparian Area. This is a natural River and if you are from a different part of the country it is just a trickle of a stream. But here in Arizona we call this a river. Just a really beautiful place and it is kind of not like Arizona it looks like a little string back east or up North with cottonwood trees and lots of hiking trails just awesome
Good people doing great conservation land stewardship work. Highly professional dedicated staff doing the best they can with what they've got to work with, while protecting huge swaths of public land. Protecting public lands and it's abundant natural resources. Dispelling the myth that BLM stands for The Bureau of Logging and Mining.
The reason I only gave it one star was because it was shut down due to the government shutdown. I thought other people should know not to even bother going by until the shutdowns over.
Beautiful area, just a little more annual upkeep is required in carr canyon, ideally the picnic area. The potential for this place is huge. I dont know if the resources are lacking but if they got the canyon cleaned the potential of fires would go down substantially. In recent years they have been clearing large debris and graveling the road which is nice to see. Keep up the great work guys.
The Bureau of Land Management office has very limited hours. They only do America the Beautiful passes on Monday Wednesday and Friday. They take lunch from 11:30 to 1:00.
Lots of birds, nature trails and Cottonwood trees in fall foliage
Very nice visitor center. Beautiful landscape and views.
The shopping is sparse and there are no restaurants. I was hoping for a water slide, or perhaps some kind of massage therapy place. The kids were bored. Would not recommend unless you like looking at things and walking.

Brown Canyon Ranch offers a glimpse into life back in the earlier 1900s, with a ranch house and property open for exploring. There is also a trailhead and parking here, for a trail that goes up into Brown Canyon and offers various bird-watching and wildlife viewing while attaining elevation climb and mountain hiking challenges. One can also bike up and down part of Brown Canyon Trail. This location is a favorite for hikers, bicyclists, horseback riders, nature enthusiasts, and historians. There is an $8 daily fee associated with parking here and using this area, as it is National Forest land.
If you're a fan of exploring historic landmarks with the freedom to roam, Brown Canyon Ranch in Arizona is a great place. The property is expansive, featuring numerous trails and vast open areas ready for exploration. We enjoyed the home and following the loop around the ranch, but the most captivating experience was the trail to the left of the main house. This path led us deep into the woods, where we discovered a remote, intriguing graveyard and various historic relics scattered throughout. Each step was a journey through history. Unfortunately, we ran out of time long before we ran out of trail to explore. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a good adventure mixed with history!
Beautiful place ! You feel o e with nature. Many trails and a loop. They have picnic tables and benches. Perfect place to have a picnic lunch. The House is open to walk thru and see some of the history and time period. The serene backdrop is amazing!
I finally made it out to Brown Canyon Ranch. It was roughly a mile drive down the dirt road, in Coronado national Forest. it is located about a half a mile East of the Huachuca mountains. Right at the edge of the foothills. There are some trees. Rolling golden landscape, with beautiful views of the mountains. Majestic Foothills. And I think you can see just a teeny bit of Carr Peak peeking out. Beautiful view of Huachuca Peak, with a windmill great photography opportunities. The Old Ranch House, is open, and there are some furnishings, and housewares, a fireplace and several rooms it was kind of museum-like and cool. There's a wrap around porch that goes partially around the building. With benches under a shady roof. And vistas of mostly Huachuca Peak, and some Majestic views of close by Foothills. There are several hiking trails. There is not a lot of shade. Except right at the ranch house there is shade and several cottonwoods and benches in the shade. There are several hiking trails in all directions, some up to the mountains Brown Canyon trail, which connects eventually with, the Hamburg trail and leads to the summit of Carr Peak. There are other trails that lead back towards Sierra Vista. And there is a trail that leads to the INS security balloon blimp. Which is kind of cool you can see it behind The farmhouse when it is grounded. I had a great time here. I would not recommend coming here on a hot day it would be unpleasant. This would be a great place to come in the winter to hike the spring and the fall, keep in mind if you're hiking there will be no shade, at least for a half a mile till you get up into the mountains, there is an outhouse picnic tables, trash can, no water, fair cell phone service. The place seems to be very popular with local Sierra Vista and Hereford cyclists. As it is only about 1 mile, to Cherokee Street, and then only another half mile to Buffalo soldier trail, if you go by way of hiking trails. It is much further to town by car. I'd say it's about 10 miles from Walmart.
Several hiking trails of different elevations/lengths. There is free parking about a mile out, but the national parks pass is honored at this location so you can use that for closer parking. Minimal vegetation/shade so best to hit the trails earlier in the morning. No water available on site so pack your own. Dog friendly!
Such a lovely place (Popular for photo shoots), there are trails to hike and a ranch house that you can go in. There are two parking lots, one about a mile from the ranch house and one right by it. The first time I went, I didn't realize you could park closer.
My first time to visit this area. It is an absolutely beautiful place to take a hike or have a picnic. The scenery is awesome and the hiking paths are mostly level so it is very nice for beginners or those of us with age problems. There is a parking lot off of Ramsey Rd. or you can drive in a short way on an unpaved road with ruts to the old ranch house where there is a nice large parking lot there. It is pet friendly and they have plastic bags for you to use.
I came here after Ramsey Canyon parking lot was full and I'm really glad I did. The ranch house was great to walk through with lots of History and I like the nature walk trail around the property. When I was there the park ranger was giving tickets to people that did not pay parking. Fyi!

What a great, local market. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. My favorite table was Echoing Hope Ranch. Their adults with autism and other developmentally disabled folks produce great produce. And what a great cause!
The Thursday market has a great selection. Eggs, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, coffee, and fresh produce as well as some good food. To just to make a few.
Small farmers market not many vendors. They do have a decent selection of different goods, however. Merchants are always polite and welcoming.
I’ve been looking for a natural stain remover with no avail until I visited the market and found Nomad Sisters. Their stain remover bar is holistic magic!! I used it on old, set stains I had thought were lost causes… and boom my bench cushions look brand new again. Many other noteworthy vendors as well, including Baja Arizona Sustainable Agriculture (the Mesquite Bean “coffee” was so good!). Special shout out and thank you to those providing local eggs and produce!
The usual stuff sold by the usual suspects in farmers markets around the country, I'm sure. Worth a visit, but it's more something to do between ten and two. We go up and pick up some vegetables occasionally and maybe a bag of nuts.
Great place for Farm to table items 👍 just wishing they would do it on a Saturday where more people could attend
Very pleasant and nice place has grown in size and vendors variety highly suggest
Not the quantity and variety of fruits and produce that I was looking for. Most pre-made baked goods and meals were very expensive.

Tom is a wonderful host, cabin A charming and clean. Worn down a bit, but charming clean and thoughtful. At the edge of the trail head it’s an incredible setting at the base of Miller Peak in the heart of the Huachaca Range . This is a nature lovers paradise. Dog lovers will be overjoyed.
Beatty's Guest Ranch is a hidden gem. Nestled in the hills of Miller's Canyon, Tom's homestead provides stunning views and access to the back trails of this gorgeous mountain range. I spent some time in Cabin A, a charming rustic cabin that offers just enough of the basics to make visitors feel at home. The warmth of the woodstove kept me toasty and the starry night sky filled me with awe. Staying at Beatty's is an experience I won't soon forget!
This place is the best. Been coming for 20 years now. Tom Jr. is a cool guy and a true conservationist at heart. The dogs are amazing and kid-friendly - we had a 5 year old and he loved them. It can get loud at dawn... but just rent a room at the Omni in Scottsdale and watch a nature show while you're getting a pedicure if you're leaving anything other than a 5 star review here! And maybe reconsider your life's trajectory. I'm a professional PhD-level biologist. This is hands-down THE canyon in SE Arizona for wildlife and Beatty's is hands-down THE best for a cool rustic-style stay. I'd say either are contenders for top spots in North America.
What can I say about this place. It is literal heaven. The owners are so kind and helpful. We came for a hike and stayed 2 nights. The cabin was D and it was so quaint and cozy. We explored the grounds and enjoyed the birds. We saw some local wildlife, enjoyed a rain fall, took too many photos. The family has been here taking care of this little slice of Heaven for decades, they know so much about the local ecosystem, wildlife, and the orchard they care for. The apples are fantastic, the birds are plenty, and the whole place is just wonderful. Wether for a day hike, a weekend getaway, or just a stroll I 10/10 recommend visiting. I think the day hike is 5$ and the cabins range in price, ours was 2 bedroom, 1 bath, and a kitchenette with a cozy living room, and was 120$ a night. We obviously stayed another night because the deck of the cabin was literally in the trees. Please please please come support a local family and visit. You surely won't regret it. Additional note: I saw reviews about the family being rude, let me dispel those rumors. They are so friendly, knowledgeable and kind, Tom Jr was the sweetest funniest man. We chatted a ton and him and the pups were so friendly. My daughter is 4 and they ran around and kept an eye on her like she was one of the pack. If you want kindness you need to exude gratitude. So that’s all I have to say about that.
Great and knowledgeable owner of the trails, wildlife, and property in general. Hosts a few cabins for a fair rate in the area. They have water and electricity - I peaked inside a vacant one but did not use them. An honor system $5 deposited box blocks a path on the property where you will hang left and cross a bridge and have shaded bleachers to view many hummingbirds at ~6 feeders. I saw 6 species in a sitting. June-Jugust are best months for this. The trails are well maintained and I went up about a mile ins search of a fire colored tanager with my dad. We saw it. All in all loved chatting with the owner and would return/bring a family for a relatively safe cabin/hiking experience. There are bears, jaguars, ocelots, etc in the area with you. Owner has some hounds to keep them humble, though.
Beatty’s Butte is not for everyone. If first cabin accommodations are important for you, it’s not your place. If a natural setting in a heavenly location among the amazing wildlife and incredible setting at the base of Miller Peak in the heart of the Huachaca Range is…you have found your space. Go with no expectations… Open your heart and listen. It’s all here 🙏❤️
I love staying here! I've never seen so many hummingbirds in one spot!
Beautiful landscape with amazing hospitality and accommodations!

Had a wonderful hike today in Carr Canyon went to the car Canyon picnic area and parked walked across the street and hiked up the trail towards the car house site. The stream was flowing there were snow cap mountains it was close to 80° on the trail and the snow on the mountains look so beautiful and the stream was flowing like you were back on the East Coast or something to wear so much water in the Stream it was really beautiful And the great benefit of living here in the west is there were no bugs at all. Got some awesome photos which I'm going to share here just had a really incredible time hiking. Other than the ins helicopter flying in circles over my head for an hour. You will see signs warning you about illegal immigrants I have lived in the area for 25 years and have not seen an illegal immigrant ever in the Huachuca mountains haven't seen one anywhere hiking along the San Pedro River or the Huachuca mountains or anywhere in southern Cochise County for about 15 years now so please do not be words you will not run into any immigrants you might run into some very antsy ins people but you won't find any illegal immigrants it is very safe and beautiful and quiet other than the ins helicopter circling over your head which finally did go away Bring your camera or a phone that can take decent pictures all of these pictures were taken on my Wal-Mart TracFone I had a great time and the people that were there hiking and picnicking were for a helpful and helping me to find a hiking trail wonderful place wonderful time I highly recommend it
Not quite sure what Carr canyon is supposed to be, but we followed our GPS directions and ended up in the middle of nowhere. Almost scary m iddle of nowhere. Do not recommend unless you can get a little better information than our GPS gave us.
A beautiful area, the stream was running and so close to get away from it all
Nice area for hiking. Carr House was still closed for the season as was the upper road. Great views for as far as the eye can see. Creek was running as was the waterfall. Did I mention the views...
Carr Canyon is awesome! it does not dead end into houses. (not sure where that reviewer was, but not on Carr Canyon Rd) The road goes clear up to the campground near the top. Great hiking to Carr Peak and connecting trails, Miller Peak, crest trail, over to Ramsey Canyon etc. Beautiful meadow trails full of flowers in the fall. Views from the top are Great!
You can drive higher into the Huachucas in Carr Canyon than any other place. There's also many loops you can do using two trails if you are willing to hike along a dirt road for a portion.
Driving to the campgrounds at the top is an adventure. The road is rocky and rugged. And part of the way near the top is 1 lane while driving hair pin turns. Not for the faint of heart. It is not recommended to take cars up there. You'd better have good tires, too, so they don't get punctured. But it is beautiful and refreshing when you get to the top. And if you're not afraid to look there are amazing views as you are driving/riding. We didn't camp there, but there are nice sites and restrooms. Not sure if they are outhouses or not. If you have 4 wheel drive it is definitely worth the trip.
This is NOT carr canyon!!! Go to Carr House off of hwy 99 & you will find it! There are signs saying Carr Canyon hiking area national forest land.
