Beautiful hike to an iconic landmark! The hike from the parking lot to Delicate Arch is absolutely beautiful! Along the way, we saw so many stunning views that you can’t find anywhere else in the world - truly breathtaking. If you start the hike early in the morning, you can catch the sunrise, and the cooler temperatures make it much less exhausting. I saw families hiking together, which shows it’s doable for many fitness levels. On the trail, we met people from all over the world and from different states. It’s a really nice walk with an incredible reward at the end. This is something that gives tremendous value to the USA - it’s a unique natural treasure that belongs to this country, and there’s no other place in the world with this landmark. After visiting Delicate Arch, don’t forget to visit Double Arch as well! However, be prepared - you’ll need good hiking shoes for that trail. Little ones might find it challenging, so it’s best to go alone or with older family members who can handle the terrain. I strongly recommend visiting Delicate Arch at least once in your life - it’s an unforgettable experience!
This is a great spot for a hike with amazing views. About 3.5 miles round trip and just over 700 feet of climbing. The hike is fairly easy if you take your time. Plan for 2-3 hours. The trail is easy to follow. Parking is abundant but can get crowded. Bring plenty of water.
FEAR OF HEIGHTS? TRY AT OWN RISK. Exceptional, roughly 2hr hike, can be challenging. Very worth a try, soooo beautiful, everyone was vibing at the arch. Saw mule deer on trip down.
This hike kicked my ass but it was beyond worth it!!! Amazing view of the arch once at the top, it's a good 2-3 hr round trip depending on your speed and how much time you spend with stops and enjoying the view. Went for the sunrise during October it was mid 40's at 5:30am so dressing in layers was needed!
From the parking lot, it takes about 35 minutes at a fast pace, and around 45 minutes if the kids are walking—assuming they have good stamina. There’s some sand on the trail, so it can be a bit slippery. Make sure to look back for a moment while going up—the view is absolutely beautiful. The trail is relatively easy overall, but kids should be careful of slipping.
This is the most recognizable landmark in all of Arches National Park. It is also the symbol that appears on the Utah license plates and even U.S. stamps. It is also one of the most visited and hiked sites in the entire park. This freestanding natural arch stands 52 feet in height with an opening of 46 feet high and 32 feet wide. This geological wonder was formed over millions of years by wind and water erosion acting on the Entrada Sandstone base layers and the Moab Member of the Curtis Formation, which forms the bridge. The arch’s name term “Delicate” comes a January 1934 article, which described it as “the most delicately chiseled arch in the entire area.” Finally, be cautious moving around the arch especially near the bowl area below the arch and yes, people have fallen with the last fatal event occurring in November 2019.
If you want a beautiful place to get away from all of the craziness and rigorousness of scheduling and overloading yourself go to arches. Enjoy the colors and the architecture of the natural landscaping all around you it is absolutely stunning. The views are absolutely breathtaking. It's worth every minute of your time!!! Pack in some food to snack on, lots of water, great hiking shoes, and warm clothing. Pack an extra set of socks maybe even an extra shirt to change cuz you'll sweat!
This was our second visit to Arches National Park. Last time we didn’t see everything, and this time was almost the same. In June it was extremely hot — I didn’t make it to Delicate Arch, with too little water and too little brain for 3.5 miles over rocks in full sun. This time we were prepared: hiking shoes, lots of water, hats, sunscreen. But the wind was strong, almost blowing hats away! October 2025, two adults and two kids (ages 4 and 9) went straight to Delicate Arch. The parking lot was full, so we had to wait, but it was worth it. The trail is narrow and high in places — definitely scary! Almost at the arch, about 4 meters above the ground, with a bunch of hats below (fortunately, no heads — just joking). Five minutes before, rescuers evacuated an injured person on a stretcher on one large wheel — huge thanks to them! The arch is impressive, though not as breathtaking as Landscape Arch (more on that later). We didn’t all reach the arch itself — the line was long and the kids were busy trying to “fly off” with the hats. All in all, Delicate Arch is checked off our list!

Sandstone formation & popular photo op with 2 big arches springing from the same side foundation.
Slide 1 of 8
Super short & easy hike for people of all ages! Double Arch is probably my favorite in the whole park due to it's vastness, great photo backdrop and great accessibility. We visited on a Friday in June (7am timed entry) and made this our first stop so we could get family photos without a crowd. We got to this arch around 8am and there was only 1 other person. Definitely a must do, especially if you have children! As always, start early and don't forget your water! :)
It's a magnificent place. A stunning natural rock formation. It takes 5-10 minutes to reach. You'll walk for 5 minutes over slightly uneven terrain. It's a breathtaking view. I recommend visiting in March-April or September-October. It's important to come in the right season to avoid the heat. Unbelievable 🦎👍
Nature's beauty. One of the best Arch in the national park. It ks a short walk frlm the parking or even from the Windows trail. You can climb on rocks to get up close to the arch. It is a beautiful formation. There are lot of photo spot out here.
This is one of the most famous arch in the whole Arches National Park, it is the connection of two arches in orthogonal position. If you stand underneath it, you will able to see the sky was divided into three pieces, amazing
Pro tip: Often the lower parking lot here has more spots and easier access to the double arch. This is probably the most picturesque and beautiful place in the park due to its location and ease of access. You can actually climb inside the hollow structure and marvel at its enormity and scale. Pay attention to the bottomless pit (in the pictures) board to learn how this place came to be. Very interesting 🤔 There is another viewpoint from the top of the left arch but it's risky to climb and despite looking like an easy task, quite slippery and difficult to get down from.
Really beautiful and easy hike to see the double arch. It does get harder to hike all the way to the base of the arch, but still not bad (just uneven and a little more of a climb). The lower parking lot by this arch usually has parking, the upper lot closer to the north and south window usually is full. There’s no water refill station but there are vault toilets by the upper parking lot. We’ve seen a lot of the arches and this is a really epic one for the short hike! Worth seeing for sure!
The double arch is a great arch to visit with small kids and older folks. There is a short path that leads you from a parking lot to the Double Arch, and it is not strenuous at all. It shares a parking lot with the landscape arch as well. Restrooms available! 4 stars instead of 5 because it was very crowded.
Definitely worth the stop and walk up to this one! Really unique architecture as it feels like a circle or cups like arch with all the separate arches holding it together. Minor rock climbing involved in this one getting to the top, getting downs a little more tricky so be careful. Lots of other arches near by and another amazing arch trail at the top of the parking lot!

Arches' longest sandstone span, measuring 290 ft. across, accessible via the Devils Garden trail.
Slide 1 of 8
Beautiful and Easy Hike – A Must-See Spot! This hike is relatively easy — I saw kids as young as 6 to 8 years old doing it with no problem. I highly recommend going in the morning for more shade and cooler temperatures. It took me about an hour total, including the hike up, a short rest at the top, and the hike back down. The view at the top is absolutely stunning — definitely a must-see if you’re visiting the area!
There are several ways to see the sites in Devil's Garden. Each route leads to different and longer destinations. The highlight among those is the Landscape Arch. The shortest way to see it is an out-and-back to a fenced observation area. Be sure to explore and find the spot underneath the arch. Most of the trail is paved.
A beautiful hike that's doable for most! Did this hike myself and it took about 45 min at a slow, comfortable pace. There are a few decent inclines so a walking stick may be beneficial. I started this hike around 9am on a weekday in June and the parking area was nearly full. It was already quite warm too (~80°) so as with most hikes in Arches during the summer, you'll want to start EARLY! And don't forget your water bottle 😉
In our view, the most impressive sandstone arch in the entire park, as well as the world. Here you are standing in front of the longest arch in the world, stretching an impressive 306 feet across at the base and a mere 6 feet in diameter at its narrowest point. This natural wonder is a must-see arch for anyone visiting Arches National Park. In 1991, a large slab approximately 73 feet long fell from beneath the arch and that is why no one can hike to the base due to safety concerns. Stunning arch.
Definitely one of the best views in the park with what I think is the most impressive arch in the park. You have to see it to believe it. A fairly easy hike to get to it. Don't miss this one!
It is a thin but long arch. the arch area is protected by fences, so you cannot get close to the arch. The best time to see the arch may be later afternoon when the sunlights come from back of the arch. There is also another arch behind this front big arch, which may be overlooked. It seems this arch could crush any time, kind of dangerous, which is the reason it is protected by fence to avoid visitors getting too close to it.
Easy 2mile trail, beautiful October weather, so glad we experienced it, looking to do more hikes next visit. It was cool so water wasn't an issue.
Get an early timed entry. It gets hot quickly. Devil's garden hike is very nice. A little crowded but not bad. All the different arches are beautiful... Don't miss partition. Arch. Probably one of the prettiest in my humble opinion.

Easy trail with great views! You can see north window, south window, and turret arch up close. The double arch is also close to this area.
The area is characterized by large stone arches that look like windows. Located in Arches National Park in Utah. The arches were formed by a very long natural process of erosion. An easy walking trail is one and a half kilometers long. Parking is nearby and there is easy access to the site.
The best trail to take when you have limited time as you can hit many arches at once! Turret arch is my favorite!
Very picturesque place, lots to see. Great for kids and adults in need of special accomodations. Tones of places to climb on rocks, check out views, and enjoy outdoors.
The Windows Section of Arches includes the North and South Windows, Turret Arch, Double Arch, the Parade of Elephants, the Garden of Eden, Pothole Arch, and Balanced Rock. The Windows Section is located in the center of Arches, on a spur of the park road, which is well marked and recognized by the many vehicles. There is parking and picnic shelters, plus restrooms in the area. The elevation is about 5000 feet, but it is not cooler and there is very little shade. We used a large umbrella for shade, and struggled with the heat, which was nearing 100 degrees. Right before the turn-off spur road is Balanced Rock, which is reviewed elsewhere. Next is Pothole Arch, and the Garden of Eden. The road comes to a trailhead for each of these and you will walk back in. Double Arch, North and South Windows share the same parking area This area is quite popular for private visitors as well as tour buses, and can get quite crowded. Parking along the access road is not allowed, so if there is no parking available you'll have to return later. The Double Arch Trailhead is a half mile and is in the opposite direction from the others. it is reviewed elsewhere as is Turret Arch. The North and South Windows are together and Turret is beyond them. Good shoes are required as this is a gently uphill climb with some steps.
One of Arches’ best areas to see!!The rocks were awesome‼️🏜 📸’s taken on 12/31/2019; New Years Eve❄️
Family friendly and well paved trail with easy steps. Best to arrive early in the morning before 8 as the parking gets full easily (in the summertime). Besides it's nice to have the place for photographs with less crowd and the early morning light is perfect for taking that photo. North and South Window are clustered together with Turret arch & across are the double arch. We have a four year old with us and enjoyed this hike.

This hike is a super popular hike and for good reason. Winding through the boulders and fins, the maze-like trail works itself through squeezes and scrambles and picturesque pauses. The hike is both challenging and relaxing. The trail is not open to the public without a timed entry permit. You may choose to go with a group on a ranger-led tour or a self-guided tour. Reservations are made on Recreation.gov.
This was an epic hike and fun as hell to explore. The AllTrails map really comes in handy to prevent getting lost as there aren’t many signs of arrows. DO go past the dead ends, some of the best features are there including Surprise Arch. Worth doing and fairly easy to score a permit, highly recommended!
My wife and I (65 yrs old) hiked the Furnace Sept. 14 on a ranger guided tour. It was challenging and rewarding and was made possible by the professional and knowledgeable ranger Bailey who expertly managed the group of 14. I would not recommend doing this hike unguided. It’s a confusing not well marked trail that is easy to wander off of. In addition there are many areas that require technique to navigate. Not knowing the correct method is extremely difficult and dangerous. The trail is amazing, beautiful and varied in topographical conditions and it takes 2-3 hours to complete. The views and opportunities to experience the area are unique in it’s beauty and challenges making it a really special one of a kind experience.
I highly recommend this trail. It requires a permit for either the ranger led or self guided hike. I did it self guided. This is one of my two top hikes in Arches (the other being Double O). You'll be scrambling over rocks and squeezing between sheer walls in a slot canyon, but the hike is nothing but exhilarating. It's not very long. I did it in two hours and that included getting lost a few times. Bring a GPS or your phone with offline maps downloaded. Even in the canyons, I only lost reception once. The GPS really helps make sure you're on the right track.
I highly enjoyed the ranger-guided tour through the Fiery Furnace section in Arches National Park. The ranger explained everything so well and was extremely knowledgeable. Tickets for this tour must be purchased online early in advance in picked up in person at the park's visitor center a day before the hike.
This network of narrow canyons is a great place to explore and "get lost" You do need a permit to hike here. There is a hefty fine for hiking without a permit. It gets very hot in the mid afternoon, take plenty of water & be prepared to spend several hours here
It was worth the effort to get the permit and going through the orientation. The hike was stunning, as well as fun. We had downloaded the map on All Trails and we were very happy we did. The trail markers were not very evident. The map helped us when we lost the trail. Probably one of the best things in Arches. This is one not to be missed.
What an amazing experience! One of the best hikes I've ever done. More than a hike, it's an exploration. It's easy to get lost, but that is part of the fun. You need a permit to get in. You can get it a few days in advance at recreation.gov. it only costs $10. Really worth it!

Starting point for a well-used, partly strenuous loop trail to several prominent sandstone features.
Slide 1 of 8
I love hiking the Devil's Garden loop trail. There are so many arches, fins, and other awesome rock formations to see. I did the loop clock wise because when I started at 7am in the morning, it's not crowded on the popular spots and it's easier going this way on the primitive sector of the trail. The branch to the Private Arch was not clearly marked and I almost missed it until I saw another hiker coming back on it.
Favorite trial that I was able to do in Arches. Started early in the morning late November, and there was only one other car in the parking lot. Scenery is amazing, and it was super surreal and peaceful hiking alone.
Hiking Devil’s Garden in Arches National Park is an unforgettable adventure that showcases the raw beauty of Utah’s desert landscape. This trail, located in the northern part of the park, is one of the most popular and diverse hikes in Arches, offering a mix of stunning geological formations, challenging terrain, and breathtaking vistas. I hiked the full Devil’s Garden Loop, including the Primitive Trail, in October 2025, and here’s my take on the experience. Trail Overview
The Devil’s Garden Trail system offers options for hikers of varying skill levels. The main trail is a 7.9-mile loop (including the Primitive Trail), though shorter out-and-back segments are available for those seeking a less strenuous experience. The main attractions are the eight natural arches along the route, including the iconic Landscape Arch, Tunnel Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Double O Arch, and others. Rated as moderate to strenuous, the full loop involves some scrambling, narrow ledges, and sandy sections, with a total elevation gain of about 1,000 feet. The Experience
Starting early in the morning from the Devil’s Garden trailhead, I was immediately struck by the dramatic red rock scenery. The first mile is well-maintained and accessible, leading to Landscape Arch, one of the longest natural arches in the world at over 300 feet. Its delicate span is awe-inspiring, though signs warn of its fragility after past rockfalls. This section is great for families or casual hikers, as it’s relatively flat and wide. Continuing past Landscape Arch, the trail gets more adventurous. The path to Double O Arch involves climbing over slickrock and navigating some exposed sections, which add a thrill but require caution, especially in windy conditions. The views from Double O Arch are worth the effort—two stacked arches framed against the vast desert expanse. I also took short spurs to Navajo Arch and Partition Arch, both offering quieter spots to soak in the scenery. Navajo Arch, in particular, feels like a hidden gem with its shaded, almost cave-like setting. The Primitive Trail, which completes the loop, is where things get wild. This less-traveled section is rugged, with uneven terrain, sandy washes, and some route-finding required. Cairns mark the way, but you’ll need to pay attention. I loved the solitude and the sense of exploration, but it’s not for everyone—proper hiking boots and plenty of water (at least 2-3 liters per person) are essential. The trail loops back through a mix of desert scrub and rock fins, offering a different perspective of the park’s geology. Devil’s Garden is a must-do for hikers visiting Arches National Park. The trail’s mix of iconic arches, rugged beauty, and varied terrain makes it one of the park’s crown jewels. Whether you stick to the easier out-and-back to Landscape Arch or tackle the full loop, you’re in for a visual feast. For me, the Primitive Trail’s sense of adventure and the sheer scale of the arches made this a 5-star hike. Just come prepared, respect the desert environment, and you’ll leave with memories of one of America’s most spectacular landscapes. Rating: 5/5 stars
If you're an avid and serious hiker, I recommend the full loop including the primitive part of the trail. Trail is definitely less obvious in a few spots, but it was easy enough, super fun rock scrambling, some sections I thought "no way that's the path," and it was. Amazing. If you've been to the Needles in Canyonlands... This trail reminds me of that. Views for miles!
A big loop with multiple short spokes to viewpoints and arches. The colors and vistas of the canyons and mountains are stunning. It’s an easy walk to the first several arches. It gets more interesting deeper in and particularly on the primitive trail, where there is some scrambling. The crowds thin out dramatically past the initial arches. The whole trail with all of the add-ons is around 10 miles.
This is a pretty rough trail. It contains stretches with steep rock surfaces to "crawl" up or down. Not recommended if one is afraid of heights. But the scenery and rock formations make it worthwhile.
Nice trail to view different arches! Not difficult to do and plenty of beautiful views. Was a busy trail though. Not much shade!
Great 10k hike at the Arches national park, a bit crowded especially the beginning of the trail. Gets really hot, so make sure you have and drink plenty of water. The scenery was great.

Definitely hot in August, and the air is dry so be very very careful about having adequate water. From Bryce to Arches you should check out Capitol Reef National Park and Escalante/Bears Ears, there are some fun slot canyons, eat at Hells Backbone Grill. Also Canyonlands NP.
