Ticonderoga

Ticonderoga is a hamlet in the southeast part of the town of Ticonderoga, in Essex County, New York, United States. The name is derived from the Haudenosaunee term for "between the two waters", the two waters being Lake George and Lake Champlain. The hamlet became a census-designated place (CDP) in 2008. We enjoyed how expansive the grounds are. You can enjoy the exhibits and not feel crowded. We enjoyed walking through the brick lined gardens. We were fortunate enough to see a cannon demonstration which our daughter loved. Definitely visit the little farm stand and grab some of their veggies or herbs. My daughter ate the whole bag of fresh peas we bought.
I really wanted to enjoy this place more, as there are a lot of things to see and do. But I'm restricted by my power wheelchair from going to a lot of interesting parts of the old fort. Still, I enjoyed the view, the nice gift shop, and the pleasant people always willing to help. During my visit on July 30, some reconstruction efforts were underway on a Fort wall. This is a great place for families with school-age children. But even this 73-year-old is impressed at the history here! George Washington, Ethan Allen, Benedict Arnold...!
Fort Ticonderoga is a gem. Well kept, with lots of cannons. There are a few employees in colonial clothing to help interpret what we were seeing. The stories are fascinating and it's amazing how many revolutionary figures passed through that fort. No real crowds the day we visited. Easy parking. Easy access. And, a great experience. I should add... There is a well stocked gift shop and a dine in eatery in the visitor center. So.... It's easy to just show up and enjoy
My son and I went today for the 250th anniversary! We got to see history come to life! Hard to describe how fun it is to see reinactnentments of our country and the true perspective of life back in 1770s. History is beautiful. The fort is in great condition and all the demonstrations we saw, the stories we took part in were great! Live animals too! Grounds are beautiful and well kept. There is an elevator in the newest exhibit as well for handicap access 🤘 There is a cafe and restaurant on site! Thank god! And the food was really good! I got the mount defiance. A turkey club but in a full sandwich. Perfect. The raspberry lemonade is also, excellent. My son got a root beer float! Good service and fun views.
This visit was a nostalgic moment. I had come here in 1975 This 2025 visit was an opportunity to see the changes and improvements made to the exhibits. It was fantastic! You must make time to see the King’s Garden. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed my time here.
Interesting history lesson and great reenactments. Make sure you watch the canon firing. Interestingly, historians now think the original fort was made of wood, not stone, so what you are visiting is entirely inaccurate. Fun, nonetheless.
I had a Great Time here. Not everywhere was accessible with my powerchair but I definitely did not feel like I was missing out on anything. Huge Gift Shop. Just about everything on open ground level is packed gravel. My powerchair did not have any difficulty with it. There are a few raised stone areas in the Fort tunnel entrance that could be a potential trouble spot for some. Assistance is readily available if not by the staff, fellow travelers were always offering. I had one offer to push me up the final go at Mt. Defiance!
Fort Ticonderoga exceeded all expectations! The guided tours were incredibly engaging—our guide brought the Revolutionary War history to life with vivid storytelling and deep knowledge. You could really feel the layers of history in every corner of the fort. The King’s Garden was absolutely stunning—peaceful, colorful, and perfectly maintained. It felt like stepping into a hidden sanctuary. And the views of Lake Champlain from both the garden and the fort walls? Breathtaking. Don’t miss the café either—it was a surprise highlight. The food was excellent, and sitting out on the patio with a view of the lake made it even better. Whether you’re into history, nature, or just looking for a beautiful, enriching day trip, Fort Ticonderoga delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend!

Amazing!!! Absolutely amazing!!! Many of us have seen every episode countless times, and we had seen pictures of this studio set, but nothing replaces the feeling you get when standing there, "inside" the Enterprise!! Ashley was our tour guide, and she was great. She truly loves her job, and constantly asked us if we were having a good time. We did the "Photo Tour", so had a more private tour (Thank you again, Ashley!!!). If you're a Star Trek fan, this is a "Must-Do". If you are able, definitely go for the upgrade to a Photo Tour, as the experience will be that much more unique and memorable vs the regular tour done in groups.
I did the tour with some friends from Austin on 8/27/25 with David Gerrold giving the tour and it was fantastic. His knowledge of the show made the tour so interesting and all the stories he had from his time working there was great to hear. James Cawley has done an absolutely fantastic job of recreating the sets and it was just amazing being able to walk through them and to sit on the bridge of the Enterprise and watch The Trouble with Tribbles episode on the Main Viewer.
WARNING: Do not attempt a game of Star Trek trivia with the tour guide. Seriously, he is that good, and you will lose. This museum, unassumingly housed in what feels almost like a strip mall building, is a wonderful, nostalgic ride through the way-back machine for those of us old enough to remember the first episodes aired on television sixty years ago. It is also a revealing look into the short-cuts and creative, cost-saving set-building techniques employed in a weekly show that needed to stay on budget and on schedule. I stood on the bridge of the starship Enterprise and marveled at how the crew created a show so rich with sets and props, despite the modesty of their resources. The tour itself was fun, and the tour guide was friendly and endlessly knowledgeable. It is nice to see the set of this iconic, ground-breaking show live on and shared with the Next Generation. (See what I did there? Ahaha...)
Absolutely amazing! The museum is an exact replica of the different sites on the Starship Enterprise. Our tour guide on that date (August 20 at 2:15 PM), was a lovely young woman who was extremely knowledgeable about all things Star Trek. If you enjoyed the TV series, you will love this museum.
My wife described my face like a kid in a candy store. The photo tour is vastly underpriced in my opinion. You will not find a better value in this or any other fandom experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable and accommodating. The lobby itself was amazing with many screen used items that you could reach out and touch (but don’t). Words fail me with how cool it was. Thank you Mr. Cawley for this experience!
How fun was that! OMG... A must do for a Treky Many original set pieces for the original series And it is the bridge from the original series! And you get to sit in the captains chair! Great fun. We had a wonderful guide. I'm really pleased to have gone and experienced this
What an awesome place. I’m 57 and watched Star Trek reruns as a kid. Never thought I would be able to experience seeing the original sets. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. The tour was fantastic. I didn’t want to leave the bridge LOL. We booked the photo tour (Highly recommend) Tim was a great tour guide. We plan on coming back in November to see William Shatner.
This is no trademark rip; Paramount was so impressed with owner James's attention to detail in re-creating TOS sets that it made this museum official. The re-creations include real artifacts wherever possible and intricate replicas when not, some so good they were used in throwback episodes on the newer shows. The fully integrated sets are constructed according to 1960s original plans. Your guide has derp knowledge and shares entertainment history and anecdotes enthusiastically. This place is a blast, a phaser blast! Nit sharing interior photos bc you've got to see it for yourself. Buy tickets for reserved entry in touristic seasons.

Great historical place with a lot of great people dressed in period clothing who knows the history well. If you're interested in the French & Indian or Revolutionary Wars then this needs to be on your list. Programs that give a glimpse into the daily lives, musket & canon demonstrations are made interesting. Place to eat on site. We also went to the top of Mount Defiance and will be doing the boat ride to end our day!
A great "add on" that is included with the admission to Fort Ticonderoga in which they give you a coin to open the gate & allow access to drive up to the lookout on top which overlooks the Fort & Lake Champlain below. Bring a picnic, some binoculars, hike around & learn more about the history of the area!
Outstanding views! Short easy hike to top if you have the token from FT Ticonderoga. Drive most of the way up and walk the last 2000 feet or so. Would love to bring a hammock and camp up top!
Mount Defiance was a highlight of our visit to the Ticonderoga area. The climb to the top was short but steep — and 100% worth it. Once you reach the summit, the views are breathtaking. You get an incredible panoramic look at Lake Champlain, the surrounding mountains, and Fort Ticonderoga below. There’s a small pavilion at the top, perfect for resting and taking in the scenery. Whether you hike or drive up, the payoff is amazing. A must-do if you’re in the area and want both beauty and a touch of history!
Great view of lower Lake Champlain and Fort Ticonderoga. Hard to imagine how the British were able to haul cannons up this steep, heavily wooded mountain. But obvious how easily the Fort could have been taken over when you are up there. Nice that this has been created and well maintained.
After touring the fort, it is well worth the drive into town to visit Mount Defiance. Amazing, panoramic view of the lake, the fort and the surrounding fields and forests. All with the Green Mountains in the distance. One of the best views I've ever seen. We had a hot, sunny day with no rain and clear skies, but I'm sure it's impressive in any conditions. (If you visit the fort first, you get a token with your admission to use to access the gate into Mount Defiance. However, the gate/kiosk takes other forms of payment, so you don't have to have a token.)
Incredible views from the top. Written directions on brochure weren’t very thorough. Google maps worked perfectly.
Great Eastern View of The Champlain Valley. 10$ to go up unless you paid to get into Fort Tigo.

Such a grogeous historic garden with pretty landscape, greenhouse, and so many colorful flowers. I wish I'd broiught a book to read on one of the benches. Great place for gardeners to go study the varieties and design of the flower beds.
This was a really beautiful area to visit . I actually stopped here during one of my first weekend trips up to the ADK’s and when I visited Fort Ticonderoga. The garden itself is really picturesque, definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in the Ticonderoga area.
Breathtaking. I admit when I first went to Fort Ticonderoga, I wasn’t very excited. But Kings Garden is just amazing. Well designed, huge color palette. I noticed things this time I didn’t see before, like the rainbow garden. I will attach my 1000 pictures to show you what I mean.
Beautiful area. Gardens have been part of Ticonderoga’s history for centuries. French, British and American armies found nourishment in the vegetables grown in the fertile gardens located below the fort walls along the shores of Lake Champlain. In the 19th and 20th century, the lush and historic landscape transformed into a unique private country American estate. Museum founders celebrated Ticonderoga’s defining Colonial and Revolutionary history while adding new gardens and orchards to the landscape. Today visitors to the 6-acre King’s Garden explore centuries of garden history, savor the fragrant heritage flowers, and discover how Fort Ticonderoga cultivates its gardens today to feature its incredible history and create curated culinary experiences and sustainable agricultural practices.
Lovely place! The gardens were so beautiful! The staff was very friendly! If you like flower photography, this is a great stop. There were only a few other people because we arrived later in the day. Turned out to be great for us!
This had been the private garden of the family which acquired the site of Fort Ticonderoga and eventually restored the fort for heritage tourism. Their garden’s flora was painstakingly sourced from North America and Europe. Exterior walls are brickface, and there is intriguing statuary. Trees line the main entrance. There is a gazebo at the lakefront.
Serene garden, meticulously maintained, featuring numerous species of flora. Brick walls, and some statuary. Plaque commemorating Samuel Champlain’s victory over a band of Iroquois warriors.
Simple and pleasant. The two cows were very sociable and appreciated getting pet (the chickens did not! ). We were able to walk through the walled garden, which had beautiful flowers, and the farm garden that had flowers, strawberries, pumpkins, and other vegetables growing. A short walk, and a nice stop.

Marisa K in printing was extremely helpful. Thanks
I am so sick and tired of these workers that treat customers different , so ahead of me is a guy probably in his late 50 early 60’s and the cashier was chipper and chatty with him, but as soon as I got up to the register, complete attitude change. Now remind you I am not some young little punk I am 45 years old. So I am cashing out and the cashier was short and quick with me, don’t even start up a conversation with me. And the older lady that was stocking the shelf’s stop asking me if I need help 6 times and get out of my way so I can shop,I ended up walking away cause everytime I turned around she was right there. Honey I make more money in a day then you make in a week .. also did you guys forget if it wasn’t for us customers spending money you wouldn’t have a job..
Went in the get printer cartridge. Asked two staff members in the back toward fed ex for help and they just started and had an attitude . Then I went to front to ask the cashier and he was rude. So lazy and rude . I will never return
Employees are rude . They’re not like customers and they’re like to busy they are self
Buying an ink cartridge for new printer. Sales rep very helpful and knowledgeable about store brand refills vs brand name. Very nice gentleman.
11 a.m. Monday. I stood 20 minutes at the print copy service desk waiting for someone to take my order. The clerk working there was busy with another customer. He saw me but did not acknowledge me or say, “I’ll be with you in a moment”. Multiple other Office Depot employees passed by and looked at me without saying a word. I left the store.
I'm a frequent customer printing files for my small business at this location. The staff at the print counter are always very friendly, and always take care of me. The other day there was an error on my part in one of my files I made three copies of, and they didn't charge me for them. Now that's customer service.
Kayla from the print and copy department is amazing! She is always so helpful, friendly, and professional. I truly hope you appreciate what a wonderful associate you have in her. I rely on her for my business needs and she never disappoints, her advice and ideas are always spot on!!

Such a cool building with really interesting exhibits! Diane and Bill were so friendly and knowledgable. If you want learn about the history of the area and see some cool exhibits, definitely stop in!
Only open Wed - Sat and Google Maps said it was open. Nice drive to Ti and back.
An unexpected treasure to visit! Exhibits of many aspects of life in the history of the past experience of the surrounding area. I was impressed with the variety of displays and the quality of their presentation. Thanks for the board member who was so knowledgeable, helpful and informative too! Well done Hancock House!
Great exhibits and a depository of historical information. See the festival of trees every Christmas holiday. If you are visiting Ticonderoga, this is one of many "must see" locations.
Great place to visit. Bill is extremely knowledgeable about Ti and surrounding area and history
Great exhibits and knowledgeable staff!
