Port Antonio

Port Antonio is a city on Jamaica’s northeast coast and the capital of Portland Parish. It’s known as a gateway to nearby tropical jungles, mountains and waterfalls. In the John Crow Mountains, Reach Falls flows into a river pool. Near Hope Bay, Somerset Falls flows on the grounds of a former plantation. In the east, the Blue Lagoon is known for its blue waters, fed by the Caribbean Sea and underground springs.

Wow, I was lucky enough to arrive and there was only one other person. I dived into paradise. Beautiful if you can be there with a lucky few but probably not the same if full of tourists
This place is absolutely beautiful and underdeveloped. It's a nice getaway especially if you are staying in the area. You can swim in the lagoon but only with a life jacket...they also offer kayaking. Additionally they have now provided restroom facilities and souvenir shops if you want to grab a few things. There is also the mineral spring area which is very shallow and contained so kids can enjoy themselves in that space
Beautiful place to visit. There are multiple parts to the lagoon. The pretty blue area is for swimmers only, be warned, there is like a 200 feet drop between the “shore” area and where the water turns blue, so if you can’t swim, stick to the other side the lagoon where it’s shallow and most people swim at. Of course the money making part is that they rent life vests for a $1000 JMD for the adventurous individuals who wants to swim in the blue area. There is also like a mineral pool, the water there is pretty clear but cool. It’s a fun visit, just “entertain” the tour people and give them a little tip, that’s how they earn their living.
Blue lagoon is free to enter, but a contribution for upkeep is strongly advised. Try to get there early, parking is limited. If you can swim jump off, there is a section where the river meets the sea with a shallow pool, cold but good with some little fish that like to give pedicures.
Very beautiful location, good for swimming and relaxing in the water however it’s quite underdeveloped. There is some promise of seeing turtles and manatees, which doesn’t seem true as the lagoon is extremely deep. There’s no designated entrance fee but they ask for a donation to enter. It’s pretty underdeveloped, there’s a bar with overpriced drinks and a couple stalls selling souvenirs. There’s also some unofficial tour guides around offering kayaking tours which I don’t recommended. You definitely need cash if you go here! Safety is a bit of concern, go prepared especially if you’re with kids.
One of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. The water is so clear, a stunning blue. The view is gorgeous. You truly have to see it and experience the water and activities. Expect to pay a contribution to enter. I suggest to park on the road above and walk down rather than the paid parking in the hotels. Amenities are fewer and there are a few gift shops on site.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Blue Lagoon in Portland, Jamaica, and it exceeded all my expectations. This hidden gem is truly one of the premier attractions in the area. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, an adventure seeker, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Blue Lagoon has it all. The crystal-clear, natural water is perfect for a refreshing swim, and the tranquility of the lagoon is second to none. If you're in the mood for a boat ride, you're in luck – there are plenty of guided operators ready to take you on a picturesque journey. As you sail or paddle through the serene waters, you'll be surrounded by lush, tropical beauty. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, find a cozy spot on a raft and bask in the warm Jamaican sun. It's an ideal place to unwind, read a book, or simply soak up the breathtaking scenery. The natural elegance of the Blue Lagoon is simply enchanting, and it provides the perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories. If you're seeking the true essence of Jamaica, look no further. Blue Lagoon is not just a tourist attraction; it's an authentic Jamaican experience. I can confidently say it's my number one lagoon – a place where you can truly relax, take a dip, enjoy a boat ride, and immerse yourself in the vibrant vibes of this remarkable island. Blue Lagoon is a must-visit, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable adventure!
Wow!! There is a natural fresh wata mineral pool, that runs to the sea. When your swimming, you will feel a cold patch and a warm patch randomly. If your up to it, swim across to the beach near and have a drink.

Reach Falls is truly a breath of fresh air! Though I didn’t make it all the way to the big falls, the scenic walk and refreshing small pools made it more than worth it. The natural beauty and peaceful vibe were everything I needed. Definitely planning to return and make it to the top next time!
Entire place was really clean. Staff was friendly, water was absolutely amazing. So refreshing, and clear. Cost to go in is $500 for locals with ID
Wonderful falls underwater caves just great some areas of the river are deep but other areas are great for non swimmers if you can swim it will be so much better 😁wish they had life vest available for use tho. Locals please don’t forge your id cards
Had so much fun. Clean, well maintained, friendly staff, limited parking, nil restaurants, vendors selling mostly jerk, water cool, crisp and nice.
Reach Falls is a must go. Feels like magic!!! Beautiful and peaceful.
If you're visiting reach falls there is a little shop on the corner just before the falls. Ask for Junior he. will show you an amazing side of the falls which most tourists do not get to see like secret caves and and to walk up the beautiful river to the falls. It's a must one of the best things we have done in Jamaica
This is an amazing (hidden) gem. I highly recommend visiting this place if you are in Portland. The falls have amazing blue pools for swimming and areas to dive. Very quiet, serene and beautiful.
Went with a guide I met at Winifred Beach. It was fun exploring the beautiful falls and enjoying a swim in all the different spots, also the cave behind the falls was fun! Reach falls was the highlight of my trip to Portland. Definitely a must!

My friends and I came here three times during our stay in Portland. Each time was a fun experience. Shout out to the people who take care of this place and make it a home. Everyone should come here and support the locals! Make sure you go to the river at the far end from the entrance. This is a really beautiful place!
Nice little public beach that is readily accessible to anyone. I wouldn't say it's the best beach in Portland, but it is definitely one that can pass. The environment was clean, and the vibe was nice. This is really one of the few 'free' beaches you can find there Well, the admission is free, yes, but every now again, especially on the weekends, they may ask for a contribution. They say it goes towards helping with the maintainace of the beach. I don't mind giving a contribution for that purpose, because it's a beautiful beach and it takes money to keep things in good condition. Parking isn't an issue. There is plenty of space. There are some stalls there that I think sell food and beverages. I didn't really go over there, so I dont have much to say there. The beach, at the time of my visit, did have a sea urchin issue. They took over a large part of the sea bed... Not sure if that's the case nowadays, though.
Nice beach but the choice of music on Sunday afternoon is not kid friendly. Best time to go is in the morning when it’s peaceful. On this day we got some blessings.
Portland has my heart, no doubt. This was such a beautiful beach. Clean n very friendly staff n vendors. The beach is free, but they ask for a donation to help kp the beach clean n nice. They have a bathroom to change, various food vendors n a beautiful cool water beach to relax in all day. Definitely family friendly n comfortable. LOVE it n will definitely be back.
A bit removed from the main road but that's what hidden gems are. While Winnifred Beach is free to enter, a contribution is basically required to enter if you drive, but it's way less than other attractions. The beach itself does have a rocky frontage in some areas, so water shoes/ Crocs, also the beach is prone to sea urchins so beware of those. But with public beaches they're were people with their music and food. But just go early
The beach is quite nice and only requires a small “contribution” for entrance, you can take your own food and drinks but there are also shacks that sell on the beach… dont have a picture of the river but its also quite nice, water is very chill, cant recall the water ever being rough
EATING AT DOREEN'S Nyamins & Jammins & Water Sports is a Must!!!!!!! It’s the LAST restaurant to the back of the beach - on the LEFT hand side (closest to shore) by the secret fresh water pond. Jamaican Family owned and operated. Wait until you hear their story. THE FOOD IS AMAZING. Ask for Ms. Doreen or JUNIOR!!!
I absolutely love this beach. It's so peaceful and I love the variety of options of where to park. I didn't get any of the food in the food stalls but it looked like there was a lot of food options. It's a super chill spot

So beautiful. Divity. Bring a towel to sit on and one to dry with if you're getting wet. You can go out pretty far ( suggested only if you can swim) Discovered the pictured drink that is now my favorite and I'm on the hunt for it here in Canada! Can't wait to go back to my family's Parish! Admission : 500 JMD / Adult parking included
This is a wonderful beach about 15km east of Port Antonio that can be enjoyed by sunbathers, swimmers and surfers alike. The entrance fee to park my car was a reasonable 500 JMD. You can also rent lounge chairs for a reasonable charge. The beach has bathroom, change room and shower facilities that can be used free of charge. There are ample places to purchase food particularly world famous Boston Bay Jerk within short walking distance. The beach area was clean and the water warm and pristine. The vibe at this beach was laid back and pleasant. This is another wonderful beach to enjoy in the beautiful Parish of Portland.
This place can either be really calm waters or really rough big waves depends on the day. Very aggressive locals trying to push surfing lessons on you. But other than that it's a good beach. And they will charge 300 Jamaican dollars to get in....
Boston was as beautiful as I had remembered it to be years ago. The beach was very clean & so you’re able to see to the very bottom of the water. We were lucky to see a school of fish swimming by our feet. We unfortunately lost our keys but the staff & divers there were very helpful and tried their best to retrieve it. I love Boston!!
Beautiful secluded beach. Glad to see such incredibly beautiful beach looks still untouched. Hope people who come here to enjoy respect the beauty on not leave trash here. It's heartbreaking to see some people have no respect to such beautiful places. So, much plastic trash around edges. Hope some local organization charges a small fee and maintained this place clean.
Perfect little beach in a secluded bay. There's plenty to do and see around but the beach is what it should be all about if you're visiting here. J$200/US$2 entrance fee. Best place for surfing in Portland with ample boards lying around (obviously not the best) quoted at a J$3000 hourly rate, which is a bit expensive (I'd say it would be a fair price for two hours) but negotiable if you rent it longer. Whatever you get, don't let the price keep you away from the surf! 🤙
A lot of garbage and brown kelp on the beach made it less pleasant for swimming and sunbathing. However it does have decent (but small) waves if you want to learn to surf (surf school is located right on the beach). Entry fee is $300JMD per person and they have bathrooms and a parking lot
Boston has a special ecosystem warm and cool atmosphere. Plush trees that reaches the clouds, beach waters are just the right warmth.

The marina is beautiful and the scenery is great. It's a nice relaxing spot to take pics and just hang out with friends and family. They do have an area where you can swim. There is also a nice little trail where you can walk. The place had a ni e scenery that will make for beautiful pictures.
Such a beautiful place! You can also go to the Zaca Bar on the property for refreshments and food. Fair warning: it’s a bit pricey
Beautiful and peaceful place. Nice ocean view amazing flowers that are just highlighted with the subtle blue skies backdrop. Nice icream joint, secluded beach. Restrooms could have been better.
Easily one of the nicest places in Jamaica. There is no admission fee. Plenty of parking which is also free. There is a nice family friendly walking trail along the harbour. There are gazebos throughout the place to sit and relax. There is a decent ice cream shop on the premises (perhaps more than one). And best of all: the view is spectacular! My family had a wonderful time on our visit to this place.
For a quiet, peaceful romantic walk, visit here asap. Stretching for a great distance from east to west along the coast guard harbor, it's a beautiful view for a romantic setting
Dine🍽, swim🏊‍♂️, walk, garden⚘🌿, ice cream🍦, boating or around the bar🍸🍺 Just enjoy this old Marina. Swim 🏊‍♂️ at the small pool or small beach with gentle waters with green lush foliage next to beach. Dine at the 🍗🍟🍺🍸🍾Restaurant. Moderately priced. 👀 Look at the 💥sunset, the garden🌷🌿🌾🍂 Find a quiet spot & cuddle with luv Ice cream 🍦🍧🍨 at a Kiosk. Very tasty.😚 Walk: 1. Thru the garden or 2. Along the short beach line or 3. Along the piers see the yachts boats. Sit on the grass or beach or around the bar Palm trees and plants of colours dividing the spaces ( the marina, the former cruise ship facilities, pool, tiny beach, yachts kiosk, stores) View of a tiny island full of plants about 1000 feet away. Parking is small to moderate. Restrooms are available.
Free, clean, beautiful and quiet beach. Had a nice, chill day on the beach with a lovely coconut stall to get a sweet and refreshing drink. Seems remote and exclusive but just speak to the security and they will gladly assist you.
This Place is beautiful!!! I felt so relaxed. I didn’t want to leave! Took so many pics! Nice place to visit and go with your family.

The beach is well kept, clean white sand, crystal clear waters, shade provided by nearby trees, bathroom facilities available, just a boat ride away from the famous blue lagoon and monkey island, I definately recommend 👍
nice but ,grassy water and turtles in the water. overall I enjoyed myself..
It's a nice lowkey beach. Cost J$800 to enter and you must bring your own beach stuff and food. Also, as it gets closer to the evening, the shore line disappears.
15 minutes East of Port Antonio we went to San San Beach. It's about a mile past Frenchman's Cove. There is a large white sign on the left that will read San San Beach! A guy casually came over to us and explained that although it wasn't posted, there was a charge to use this beach. For locals its $700/adult $300/kid ($1400/Adult if you are visiting) It's a big wide beach. That actually has amazing silky white sand!! BUT... for this price I feel there should have been a little more effort put in to keeping the place in better condition. There was another guy raking a bit of the washed up seaweed but he was not doing much. My biggest negative was 1. There was incredible amounts of seaweed floating in the main water area where you swim. It made it difficult to swim without getting tied up. It would be nice to have had this cleaned away somehow. 2. I know garbage comes in from boats far out but I got a plastic bag on me and later my 7 yr old held up a large clear plastic bag with a distraught look on his face asking what's this? 3. Finally even though the sand was incredibly smooth and silky....it was hard to tally enjoy because every 30 feet or so you would literally stumble across a half buried coral bolder that you would stub your foot on and actually hurt as they were anchored an not easily moved and they were super jagged and painful if you stepped on one. Often where there was one you would find two or three next to it so you never knew which way to stumble to safe footing. I must have hurt my feet a dozen times which although had smooth sand the rest of the times, I was moving very cautiously trying to save myself from landing on another painful jagged rock! It was nice enough for a simple time at a beach and the water was fairly warm (although the rougher waters made the water completely unable to see through using snorkeling gear) but for the money I may consider an immaculate Frenchman's Cove. FYI...We flagged a Taxi home.... $120/adult $50/kid to Port Antonio. Once at Port, we ate at THE ITALIAN JOB! (Just up from the Jerk Centre) Nice Pizza's $1200ja for basic large Pizza. $2500 for loaded.
Was a nice stretch of beach. 1200 to enter. No seats but the bathroom was clean.
A beautiful white sand beach to visit which offers you the opportunity to see the Blue Lagoon and Monkey island that are near by.
Clear water with white sand beach, very Serene and relaxing. Courteous staff.
