Nice view from the top. You can ride MTB as well. You can go to the peak by a car. But be careful last part of the road is bit narrow and you cannot see vehicles coming from the top quickly.
What an amazing view of Hastings. You can see for miles and the drive up is stunning. There's a winery in the distance worth a visit.
Absolutely amazing panoramic views of the region. Tracks are very well maintained. A good day to visit is a nice sunny day preferably without wind as it can get quite windy at the peak.
Great view from the peak, Quite narrow road when driving up and down. There's walking trail too if you don't want to drive
Such an amazing place to visit the views are incredible. Take your time, go for a wonder.. Great photos fresh air 👌 🙌
Beautiful views at the top of The Mata peak. We drove to the top but you can walk from the bottom up.
Many trails to walk so can add if you want, don't mountain bike but those tracks look awesome. Great views from the top Can also just drive to the top but walks are worth it for a day or afternoon.
Always a great place to visit. On a clear day, and the right time, you can take a snap of the best views. Very scenic, great for photographers.

I had an unforgettable experience at the winery, thanks to two amazing people who truly made my visit special. First, Michael — what an incredible tour guide! He gave me a fantastic tour of the winery followed by a wine tasting that I’ll never forget. He’s extremely knowledgeable, passionate about what he does, and made the whole experience engaging and fun. You can tell he really knows his stuff. Then at the restaurant, I was lucky to be served by Samantha. She was absolutely lovely — warm, attentive, and professional. Her service was impeccable from start to finish, and she added such a personal touch that made the meal even more enjoyable. All in all, an amazing visit thanks to the wonderful team. Highly recommended!
We’ve visited quite a few vineyards, but the giants estate wine tasting experience at Craggy Range with Damian was easily the best wine experience we’ve ever had. His passion and storytelling brought the wines to life.. the way he shared the stories made the whole tasting unforgettable. It wasn’t just about the wine, it was about feeling connected to the vineyard and its craft. Dinner at the restaurant was equally impressive. The plating was beautiful, and the dishes were cooked to absolute perfection. The venison tartare and the duck breast were standouts.. truly truly sublime. Craggy Range has completely raised the bar for us. An unforgettable wine and dining experience that we’d recommend to anyone.
we had the winter Italian menu. It was incredible and good value! The service was the hilight of the night. The girl served us is friendly and funny. She gave me a box of chocolate truffles as to make up for put in my oyster order late. The Earl Grey was very nice. I asked what tea they use but then I forgot. :(
Absolutely beautiful. Staff excellent, restaurant world-class, vineyards and grounds meticulously presented. We stayed in a 2-bed cabin & even the design of the cabin, complementary bottle of Craggy Range wine, and daily generous stocking of breakfast supplies were a great experience. Loved Craggy Range!
Grand feast in Paradise! It’s like scenic beauty which has been painted with a brush by God himself and within this scenic wonder lay a nice restaurant almost as beautiful! And the food and wine... Splendid! I ordered the shared menu starting with the Venison tartare followed by the raw local fish, marinated octopus, roasted hohepa halloumi and roasted crispy duck. All of this was very well presented like you expect in a top tier restaurant and tasted superb. I ordered the Graham's 40 year old Tawny Port which cost $50 for just 60 ml glass. But once again the best port wine I have ever had! The main course had lamb shoulder which was beautifully cooked and the meat just fell of the bone! Perfect! And this was followed by the best dish and one of the best desserts which I have ever had! The Spring Pavlova was start to finish full of flavor! You could actually taste at least 4 different flavors in every morsel which and they complimented each other to perfection! From the presentation, taste to the service, everything was absolute highest quality you could ever find anywhere in this world! It was a bit costly but worth every penny! Can't thank my brother and his wife for treating me to this divine feast right in the middle of paradise! Next time... my turn!
We absolutely have to stop by Craggy Range whenever we're in Napier — it's a must. The accommodations are always amazing, the food is delicious, and the wine pairings are absolutely outstanding. This time, we visited specifically to check out the new restaurant. While it wasn’t open yet, we were still impressed by the stunning decor, inviting ambiance, and unbeatable location. We'll definitely be back soon to experience it properly — can't wait!
We had a great meal at the restaurant. Food was brilliant, atmosphere brilliant, service brilliant.and professional But the thing that made it even better was the friendly nature of the staff who served us. They took the day to another level.
Craggy Range is simply breathtaking – the setting alone makes it worth a visit, with stunning views that create such a special atmosphere. The food was excellent and beautifully presented, and the staff were absolutely wonderful – attentive, warm, and welcoming from start to finish. The wine list is exceptional, with a beautiful selection that showcases the best of the region, and the cocktails were just as impressive. Craggy Range is a must-visit in Hawke’s Bay – an unforgettable combination of scenery, food, wine, and hospitality.

On January 3rd, 2025, I visited for the second time, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment my family and I arrived, we knew this place was special. It offered far more fun and excitement compared to other places I’ve visited in Auckland. Splash Planet is hands down one of the best places to go if you’re planning a holiday in Hastings—it truly offers something for everyone. Whether you're looking for thrilling water rides or relaxing poolside moments, this park has it all, making it a must-visit destination.I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Hastings—definitely add it to your bucket list! The atmosphere, the rides, and the friendly staff all make it an experience that stands out. Thanks again for the wonderful time. Even though we didn’t get there until 11 a.m., it’s definitely worth getting there early to enjoy all the rides without any rush. For anyone considering the best time to go, the earlier, the better! I also hope Splash Planet will consider staying open later in the future, perhaps until 8 p.m., so families can have even more time to enjoy everything the park has to offer. It's truly the highlight of any trip to Hastings. Thanks again, Splash Planet Hastings, for making our holiday so special!!!😁🙋‍♂️
Great fun. Take a picnic and picnic mat. Lots to do so best to start as early as possible. All slides are great fun and the lazy river. Also offers many other fun activities. We went on NY day not sure if it was a normal busy day but waiting times were mostly reasonable and toward the later part of the day really quick.
A perfect place for any family to spend the whole day from 10 am - 5 pm. Entry charges for adults is $45 each (for all rides), and there is lower charges for kids. We had a three year old with us, and it was absolutely free for him. There are around 25 odd activities inside, but contrary to it's name, a lot of those activities are dry ones, such as jungle safari ride, train ride, formula fun (go karting), children's playgrounds , mini golf etc. Among the water activities, the lazy river is probably the best one, and well suited for all ages. There are five slides available, but min. height should be 120 cm; and yes, they check the heights as well :-) Water was fairly clean, but relatively cold (I wish it would have been warmer). However in that case, you can enjoy the indoor pool, which is well heated to around 37-39 degrees. The lifeguards were on duty everywhere in the premises, and they were very diligent, which is good. Lockers are available at $10. There are plenty of options available inside for food and beverage, mostly in the form of food trucks. Parking is available in abundance, and additional street parking is also available.
Really fun for kids! Many slide options, rides (go kart, train, bumper boat), and activities like mini golf. Definitely a must visit when in Hastings.
We had a lovely day out with extended families, 7hrs.. Bought tickets online, arrived there before opening opening and were able to enter, found a great spot under trees with picnic table with seating..Everyone kids and adults all had a fun day..
Fun filled day at Splash Planet ! My boys absolutely lived it. Their favorite (and mine) was the lazy river. So much to choose from. Ample food options. Lots of different seating options. We bought tickets online. They open at 10am. We were able to access the park before that because we purchased our tickets online. Swimming pools can only be accessed at 10am. So it gave us time to choose our spot for the day and set up all our things. They also have lockers available to put away your valuable things.
When arriving the family and I were greeted by a friendly and professional staff member, that set the tone for the entire day. I bought tickets online and the process of entering the park was easy and quick. Once we entered the park, it was clean, well maintained and generally just a nice place to be. The pools were clean, the bathrooms were clean and for a parent with a young child the presence of lifeguards at every pool made the experience a lot less stressful. When it was time for a bite to eat, we had plenty of options and the ice-cream was delicious. I will gladly recommend the park to anyone and especially for families looking for a fun day out
Awesome place! There is so much to do, you really do need to spend the whole day here to enjoy everything. The wait time for each ride is around 8 mins per lot of people, so the lines keep moving and you aren't kept waiting forever for your turn. We had so much fun.. highly recommend. We booked our tickets online so jumped the queue.. go early if you can to nab a parking spot as they are limited.

Runs on a Sunday from 8:30 to 12:30. We went on a very hot and calm early autumn day. You can get crafts, food, vegetables, fruit, and garden plants. All of excellent quality. Probably one of the best, if not *the best*, of the farmer's markets around the country. Most vendors have eftpos, but it's wise to have cash. Dogs allowed, on a leash of course.
Among all the Sunday markets I’ve been to in New Zealand, this one was the best. It was late autumn—the smell of soil and trees, the whole mood was just perfect.
HAWKE'S BAY FARMERS' MARKET // Hastings 🍓 One of my absolute favourite Sunday rituals when I’m in Hawke’s Bay. I’m not a local but every time I visit Hastings, this is the one place I make sure to return to. Incredible local produce, artisan goods and a real sense of community. My go-to? The bacon & egg sandwich, unmatched! Fresh juices, handcrafted breads, and stalls bursting with everything from seasonal fruit to handmade treats. It’s a beautiful market to wander with whānau, with live music playing and plenty of picnic spots to sit, snack and soak it all in. A must-do for anyone visiting the region.
Hastings Farmers Market is absolutely great, a good variety of excellent produce, veggies, meat, cheese, plants and more. Also a great place to get breakfast and a good coffee on a Sunday morning.
Awesome farmers market with a variety of goodies. Plenty of room to move around and seating to enjoy a fabulous breakfast. In a beautiful location with plenty of parking. Well worth visiting.
This is the best and largest farmers market i have ever been in the North Island! Plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, artisan breads, sweet treats, meats, cheese, honey, smoke meats, sauces and condiments, eggs, cooked food like pizza, sandwich, dosa, coffee and many more!! The price was very reasonable and affordable given the quality of fresh produce we received. We have tried products of the Chef's garden @Epicurean, Good Chow NZ condiments, Telegraph Hill Olive oil, Monsieur Macaron, The Bacon Sandwich Co, Yeast Coast Baking, Haralds Bread World and some natural lamb and mint sausages from The Organic Farm Butchery. All of the products are of very high quality with discounted price only found in the market. Will be back again!!
We had some extra time on a Sunday afternoon and decided to stop by this farmers market. They had live music which was enjoyable to listen to as well as fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of homemade unique foods. We had a Korean sandwich which was very interesting. Also, fresh juices which were delicious homemade cheeses, breads and honey. It was relaxing and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you have some time and want to taste some fresh local food.
omg fav farmers market !! I love the ambiance and all the products !! It’s always a win ! And obviously as a French people, I must speak about the French bakery (Mr Macaron) : it’s so so yummy, one of the best bakery ever 🔥

Amazingly friendly and super wine. This was meant to be the farthest stop on our self guided bike tour of the region, but when we showed up they were closed! Luckily a lovely lady (Lindsay) took pity on us and shared a taste, along with fantastic chats and tips on the region. Couldn’t have been a more enjoyable experience and the wine is top notch. A must do.
I had a great time at Sileni the other day. By some luck, I managed to get the place to myself on a gorgeous, sunny day. I kept saying that it felt so luxurious to be sipping wine out in the gorgeous outdoor space with the whole patio to myself. Antonio went above and beyond to make the experience special, and I really enjoyed trying all the wines and discussing various aspects of wine making. The wine tasting is also good value for money, at a slightly lower cost than others I've been to in NZ. Thanks for a great visit!
We love this winery, so much so we found a stockist in Bakewell, UK to enjoy it year round. My husband and I started our wine tour at Sileni and was treated to a range of beautiful wines and staff explained the wine in person (not just on a piece of paper like others on the tour). It was personable, and he knew answers to all our questions. Loved every minute, thank you Sileni!
Very nice winery with a great host who made our visit interesting and tasty. The venue is amazingly large and has a shop to buy everything from cheese knifes, to cheese to glassware.
Wonderful hospitality with a wonderful wine tasting very professional stuff a lot of interesting wine types. We just love it.
Amazing experience! My husband and I did the wine tasting here and had the deli platter to complement it. Everything was so tasty. I especially liked the Savignon Blanc and the Semillon but what made this a 5 star spot was the service. Chris was our server and he had such passion for wine making. We learned a lot from him and it just overall made our experience so pleasant. Be sure to pop by! Only $10 for the wine tasting and the cheese and meat board was $45. You bet that we bought some wine for the family back home!
This place is amazing. The wines are unique & beautiful and the host help with a passion. If you like wine, this is not to be missed. Thanks to Lee and the chef who makes the platters.
Amazing afternoon High Tea. Beautiful set up and amazing catering supplied by Picinic in Ahuriri. Definitely recommend this event. And dont forget the wine. Perfect as always. A big thatnk you to the fabulous friendly staff.

Great little zoo to get up and close with the animals. Very reasonable entry prices and giftwares that are available in the mini store area. Feed is also available for feeding the animals on site. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location wasn't too bad either. Would happily visit again in the future.
Hawke's Bay Farm Zoo is a fantastic spot for families! We loved the friendly staff and seeing the happy, well-cared-for animals. It's easy to get around, and the kids especially enjoyed feeding the farm animals. A great experience for all ages and highly recommended!
Little zoo and friendly pets waiting for you to fed them. Kids love this place, good for spending sometime with the animals and relaxing with family.
It’s a farmyard zoo and the name lives upto it’s expectations. While nothing fancy like Auckland and Hamilton it is still a very great place which has been well kept. Lots to see and feed. It’s stimulating in a great way. I would definitely recommend this. Love love love the place.
Love this place. Went to see my Good Boy Mr Pig in his happy new home. He is so well looked after. All glossy and glorious with his big personality. The team are fantastic! I'm too old for a train or a pony ride but the kids doing them were absolutely stoked with it. A visit will make your day!
Great venue for birthdays, accommodating for all ages. Only downfall really is no running hot water to clean up post party, no chalk, no cloths or dishwasher liquid. All of which would really help
The people were friendly, but the place was pretty run down and in need of some love. After a rain the car park was muddy and full of puddles and the paths were as well. Adding some gravel would be nice, but in the meantime, bring your boots if it's been wet. The animals seemed a bit sad as well in their mostly small enclosures. For what it was the prices seemed high and they charge extra for a train ride or pony ride. Given the state of the place, I would think they would try to throw in the extras for free. Seems like they need some new play equipment too. Having said all that, the kids had a good time, and again, the staff were friendly, so worth a visit for families if you're nearby... We made a 25 minute drive to get there, and not sure it was worth it.
Great place to visit. Friendly staff and family friendly place. Lots of things to do - look at and feed the animals, ride on a pony, go on the train ride, and feed the lambs milk. There's a playground, toilet, and picnic tables there so plenty of facilities for a day out.
