The lady giving the tour was incredibly knowledgeable and always answered any questions asked in a way everyone could understand. The alpacas are fun and were very easy for my 11 year old daughter to walk round with. Would recommend it to anyone, a must do.
If you like animals "the alpaca place" is a must. The animal are nice funny and realy soft. The tour take 1h30 m. You can feed alpaca, wolk whit them and discover interesting stories about them. We are realy enjoy the alpaca !
Be sure to book online in advance before visting this great tour of an Alpaca farm. Liz and Cheryl are very kind and knowledgeable regard the history of the Alpacas. We got to meet both the male/female Alpacas and their young which are super cute. The best part was feeding time! If you like Alpacas in anyway defiantly do this tour😃
My husband and I had a wonderful time on this tour! The alpacas are adorable and the tour was extremely informative - we both felt like this was time and money well spent.
The Alpaca Place is great. Deserves so much more than the 3 google stars. See Trip advisor for a good idea of the sort of experience you will have. Its a fantastic tour. We have gone on to do business with the wonderful women from The Alpaca Place and now own our own Alpaca. We've been very impressed with the service from being straight out tourists, through to potential buyers, and onto a full delivery service of our purchased alpaca which took a full day of their time at a very reasonable price.
Liz gave a very informative and interactive tour for us. It was a great experience as we've never been to an alpaca farm before. We got to feed and pet the alpacas while understanding quite an extensive history on the cute animal, normally confused with its relative, llama. It's a recommended place to go.
Thanks for the great tour Liz and Sheryl, thoroughly enjoyed it, Ella loved your 'awesome alpacas', so disappointed I didn't buy her one. Highly recommend, especially for kids, my ten year old adored it. So much knowledge about alpacas, their history and industry.
This was so much fun and informative. We got to walk alpacas and hug them and learn all about them, a really cool day out

Popped in on passing through town and happened upon the Rita Angus exhibition on opening night. A well worth visit.
We went into the gift shop with the purpose of buying a gift of something local for our out of town friends, but the 2 ladies sitting at the desk were sure to announce the second we entered the door way (3.50pm) they would be closing soon. Obviously they were in too much of a hurry to go home than serve customers. It was a disgusting experience, I will never return.
Great regional gallery, had a couple of really good shows on. No charge, no queues. And good shop
Aratoi always has interesting exhibitions, plus a lovely shop and cafe. Well worth a stop on the trip between Hawkes Bayband Wellington. Photo shows Bev Moon's knitted dumplings from her recent exhibition.
Beautiful museum with nice exhibits. Worth a visit. I loved the Boro exhibit!
Worth a visit, lovely space, well presented
Amazing, new things to see all the time. Would recommend if you are visiting Masterton!
It's a small space expanding into the old church. For me the old hall was where the more interesting art lie. Free to enter. Have a short stroll through even if art is not your thing.

Absolutely loved our trip to this museum! Beautiful way to understand more about the shearing process and tradition in NZ. We will be back for sure!
Piece of history. Very dated, but interesting little museum. Not just about wool and sheep, there's other surprises too like steam engine. There's se interactive exhibits. Also there is fire brigade history museum to look at too although it is much smaller than other part of museum. Kids had fun checking everything out.
Wonderful staff wonderful locally made high quality products. They only accept credit cards with a 2% fee so plan ahead to avoid this charge If they ease up on payment options they will be 5.0
Loved this little place in Marsterton, bought a pair of sheepskin slippers for our granddaughter, she loves them an fit her feet well, she's not long been walking an are good, not clumsy in them. A great place to shop.
Fantastic and realistic experience. A credit to the team showcasing all things shearing related, without losing a drop of sweat! Highly recommended ☆☆☆☆☆
The museum is informative. The gift shop is small but what we wanted was in stock.
(Translated by Google) Nice little place to watch traditional crafts, try out the shearing tools, feel the different qualities of wool and watch competitions in videos. It is advisable to ask for a sheep shearing demonstration in advance and attend these dates or go with a larger group and ask for a demo. The hats or original T-shirts made of merino wool, which you can buy in the shop, are also interesting.
A great experience. A glimpse into a different world

Very friendly and extremely helpful. I came in with a bike problem and Sarah went out of her way to find someone who could sort out the problem. She has great regional knowledge and I highly recommend this i-Site.
Sadly, Lisa, who was so knowledgeable and helpful, no longer works at the Masterton i-site. The current staffers were not very helpful, resourceful, or motivated to assist me with my questions about getting a Snapper card, or using the train to Wellington, taking the local buses, or finding coach tours. So I went to the Masterton Library, where the ladies there were eager to assist and be useful. The library hours are more accommodating and they don't close for a long lunch, either. Get current and correct information from the gracious locals at the cafe next door, the Museum, or New World folks, and avoid the i-site staff.
Very helpful and easy to get into.
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable young lady. Thank you for your help. Trevor also enjoyed his conversation with Malcolm. 😀 Cafe next door.
The young lady at the counter was absolutely exceptional her knowledge of the area equipped with a of sense of humour thank you
Awesome place. Clean toilets and fantastic jewelery from local artists
This was my starting point for mountain biking in Wairarapa. Some great recommendations by the staff and useful literature.
Beautiful place to visit. Lots of interesting things to see. Great coffee

Cash only, which we didn't know until we got there. Personalise tour, which was great. Good value. Do support these venues as it's all they have to keep them functioning.
A chance meeting on the Picton ferry led to a visit to the Pointon Collection in Masterton. Francis has 42 vintage cars in his museum, most of which he has refurbished himself. He is a fountain of knowledge on vintage cars. Really enjoyed the visit and chat.
Amazing collection of vintage cars which the owner has restored over 50+ years. Worth a visit to get up close to some lovely old cars
An excellent collection of vintage motor cars well presented and backed up by the huge knowledge of the owner. Long may it continue!
An excellent vintage car and fashion museum, well worth the visit. Well maintained and interesting exhibits. Very detailed information including tools and advertising from another era. Lots of local history on show.
Opening hours on Google are incorrect, we found out too late it is by appointment only. Recommend ringing ahead to see if they are wanting to open. We planned our day to see this collection to be told at the gate that he didn't feel like opening it up today. We came from Australia
Very friendly reception. The history of the cars was very well described and explained by our lovely hostess Gaye. Well worth a visit.
Was blown away by the extensive collection of beautifully restored vehicles and motor cycles from c.1915 - 40s, 50s. Wife enjoyed the fashion display c.50s complete with evening bags, gloves, animal furs. HIGHLY recommended

Very cute little wee red barn. Friendly hosts will sure greet you( especially Ginger the cat). Amazing strawberry still yummy and freshly picked late April. A must stop by
This is a workers review: So so conflicted on this place! We stayed in staff accommodation for 5 nights, and worked here for 3 days (due to public holidays), after 2 days we realised it really just wasn't for us (me), and so we handed in our days notice and worked our final day. Dot and Allan are great to chat too, and lovely people. Dot is however 100% taskmaster when it comes to work time. I believe if you work hard and keep up to speed picking and working here, you will never have a problem with Dot. I can see how some people could easily get on the wrong side of her as some other reviews mention. Working conditions are hard and long days - probably fine and easy if you have done this sort of work before, however it is 0-100 jumping in at the deep end mentally and physically if you are just trying this to get a bit of money, and usually work a desk job! The real star of the show was Ralph who kept everything running, and popped over occasionally to make sure all was well. There is a wee campsite and a couple of cabins for staff on site, however the toilets and showers really really let it down. I can see how they get filthy really quickly, however that should just mean they get cleaned more often! Which they unfortunately don't. Overall, a great shop attached, and well kept crops with clever watering and tunnel systems. Work is fair, but hard graft - if you don't HAVE to work here, I'd give it a miss - there are easier jobs for the minimum wage provided.
Strawberries were beautiful as always However at least half the blueberries were entirely inedible due to mould and being desperately over ripe. Not even good for baking or smoothies. Reached out via fb messenger only to be told they are perfectly edible! And that the weather is to blame. Not a great way to treat loyal customers.
Cute little shop to visit in the Wairarapa. Came here to get some strawberries and blueberries, which were great! Will be back next time I am driving past.
On the website it states you can pick your own berries such as raspberries strawberries and blueberries! We drove 2 hours to be greeted by an extremely rude cashier who had no explanation no help and would give us no even when asking to purchase items in store
THIS IS A WORKERS REVIEW (June 2023): We worked for two months as strawberry picker / farm worker and shop assistant at Wee Red Barn. We found the job offer on backpackerboard.co.nz during our working holiday year in New Zealand. PROS: 1. Campsite for cars/vans/tents and accomodation (3 cabins with heating for 2 people each) for workers/backpackers is provided on the property including "community room", 2 toilets and 2 showers. 2. The weekly price for the campsite and accomodation is reasonable: - campsite: 75NZD per car/van/tent (will be refunded if you work here for 2 months, if less partly). - cabin: 90NZD (not refundable) 3. If you work during the season, you will sum up many working hours (approx. 7-9h/day) and you can work regardless of the weather. Good for earning money in comparison to other farming jobs, e.g. kiwifruit picking or vineyard work. 4. Payment as well as refund always worked on time and was correct. CONS: 1. The owners are the unfriendliest people we met in NZ so far and we felt this during our work time here. The boss' mood changes several times a day which can be confusing. They often used a rude tone, swearwords and shouted at the workers which in my opinion is a absolute no-go. Concerning former reviews, I can definitely confirm their disrespectful behaviour. No communication at eye level. Bad vibes are part of the daily work routine, so don't expect that you are treated well here! 2. The "community room" is just an old, shitty shed without a proper heating, an unfunctional chimney and bulky waste, it will get cold inside during autumn/winter, but probably fine during spring/summer. 3. In general the hygiene standards are low and the cleanliness at the campsite/shed was really bad when we arrived, so we cleaned at least partly the shed and the facilities to feel a bit more comfy. So if you want a bit more cleaner, you have to do it yourself. Before we left the shower wasn't for working properly for a week (didn't get warm any more), we told the owners several times to look after, but they didn't fix it. They don't care anything about the campsite and facilities here (where you pay for). 4. Minimum wage for hard work where you need to be physically fit (when you are not picking and planting strawberries which is ok). 5. The work organisation and instructions were sometimes really chaotic, unclear and confusing like switching some tasks too fast without a sense for effiency and then the boss was shouting when something had gone wrong. Unprofessional management and motivation skills if you ask me. Moreover other workers and me often didn't know where to be in the morning because nobody told us and during work many of us were afraid to ask questions because of the boss' rude reactions. Same applies for knowing when you will have a day off (one day in a week), sometimes we had to ask the boss several times and didn't get a clear answer and consequently working more than 7 days in row. A weekly workplan would be helpful. The boss is often talking about common sense, but when you look closer to some work procedures and details here, you will just shake your head. Hint: 1. Care about your own safety, e.g. hand gloves, eye and ear protection as well as face mask, when you are instructed to do work where could be health risks, e.g. loud noise when mowing or dusty work environments. Otherwise nobody else will care. 2. Don't buy frozen strawberry slices from the shop, the are made of partly or completely rotten berries which are stored a few days in the cold store before they get cut and sold (was part of our work) - health risk! This should get an issue for the health office. Conclusion: Consider that there are easier jobs for minimum or better wage in NZ where you probably will be treated better. All in all, I wouldn't recommend working here and rather work for friendly and less greedy people.
As a former worker of the Farm I can say, those are the unfriendliest and most cold hearted people I ever met in new Zealand. Also poor hygienic standarts in production. Not recommendet, especially as a farmworker.
Well it's a fantastic place for a visit with amazing yummy things to eat and the best berries around check it out your sure to like it
