Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari is a coastal town in the state of Tamil Nadu on India's southern tip. Jutting into the Laccadive Sea, the town was known as Cape Comorin during British rule and is popular for watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean. It's also a noted pilgrimage site thanks to its Bagavathi Amman Temple, dedicated to a consort of Shiva, and its Our Lady of Ransom Church, a center of Indian Catholicism.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a stunning monument surrounded by the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. 🌊 It stands as a symbol of peace, spirituality, and Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring vision. 🙏 The ferry ride to the rock offers a breathtaking view of Kanyakumari’s coastline. 🚤 Inside, the meditation hall provides a calm and divine atmosphere. 🕉️ Overall, it’s a must-visit place that fills the heart with pride and serenity. 🌅
Visiting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial was one of the most inspiring and peaceful experiences of my trip to Kanyakumari. Standing proudly in the middle of the ocean, the memorial marks the sacred spot where Swami Vivekananda meditated and attained enlightenment before his journey to spread his teachings across the world. The ferry ride to the rock itself is a wonderful experience — the vast expanse of the sea, the cool breeze, and the sight of the statue of Thiruvalluvar standing tall nearby create an unforgettable view. Once you reach the memorial, the calmness of the place instantly surrounds you. Despite the visitors, there’s a deep sense of silence and spirituality in the air. The structure is beautifully built, blending Indian architectural styles with simplicity and grace. Inside the meditation hall, it’s completely quiet — just you, the sound of the waves, and a feeling of deep peace. Sitting there for a few minutes made me feel truly centered and calm. From the top, the panoramic view of the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean is breathtaking. Watching the waves crash around the rock while the sun sets in the distance is a sight I’ll never forget. Overall, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial is more than just a tourist attraction — it’s a place of reflection, strength, and inner peace. Whether you’re spiritual, curious, or simply love scenic beauty, this is one place in Kanyakumari that will stay with you long after you’ve left.
Well built memorial on a rock Island. Great sea views along with cool sea breeze. The glass bridge connecting the two rocks is worth highlighting. The place gets a bit busy during peak hours. But apart from that, a great destination. Must visit!
Vivekananda Rock Memorial is an unforgettable experience and a must-visit landmark in Kanyakumari. Located in the middle of the ocean, the ferry ride itself feels exciting and gives amazing views of the coastline. The memorial is beautifully built, maintaining a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere as you walk around the rock where Swami Vivekananda meditated. The panoramic view of the confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean is truly breathtaking — especially during sunrise and sunset. The place is cleanly maintained and the staff are helpful in guiding visitors. You can spend time in meditation inside the hall, which feels very calming. It’s a perfect combination of history, spirituality, and natural beauty. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kanyakumari!
A serene and spiritual place surrounded by the ocean. 🪨 The memorial beautifully honors Swami Vivekananda’s meditation spot. ✨ Peaceful ambience with breathtaking views of the sea horizon. 🙏 A must‑visit for inspiration, reflection, and inner calm.
I recently visited Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue, and the Glass Bridge — it was an amazing experience! 🌊✨ The ferry ride to the rocks was refreshing, and the view from the top was absolutely stunning. The Vivekananda Rock offers a peaceful atmosphere, while the Thiruvalluvar Statue stands tall and inspiring. The Glass Bridge gave a thrilling view of the ocean below — a must-try for adventure lovers! Overall, it was a memorable trip filled with beauty, peace, and excitement. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kanyakumari. 🌅
Standing on the edge of India, where the Ocean meets the horizon. Today's visit to Vivekananda Rock in Kanyakumari was truly a soul-stirring experience! This sacred spot, marking the southernmost tip of India, holds a special place in my heart. The spiritual vibes, the stunning views, and the sense of being at the last edge of the india

We had a memorable visit to Kanyakumari with my family during my annual vacation. It’s truly a place where nature’s beauty meets cultural richness. Watching the sunrise at the southern tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean meet, was an unforgettable moment. The crowd had already gathered early in the morning, and everyone waited eagerly for that first golden ray to appear. The sight of the rising sun reflecting on the ocean waves was simply breathtaking. After the sunrise, we spent time exploring the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue, both of which stand proudly in the middle of the sea. The short ferry ride added to the excitement, giving us a closer view of these iconic landmarks. Later, we walked around the beach area, visited a few temples, and enjoyed the sea breeze while shopping for beautiful seashell crafts and souvenirs from the local stalls. We also tried some Kanyakumari special dishes — especially the seafood varieties — which were fresh, spicy, and full of local flavors. However, one disappointing part of the trip was our experience with some photographers near the beach. They approached us offering photo packages, promising quick editing and special backgrounds. But after collecting the payment, things didn’t go as expected. Once the editing was done, someone else handed over our photos, not the person who took them, and the results were far from what was promised. It felt like a bit of cheating and mismanagement, which spoiled an otherwise joyful moment. Despite that issue, the trip overall was amazing — full of scenic beauty, cultural experiences, and family memories that we’ll always cherish. Kanyakumari truly remains one of the most peaceful and inspiring destinations in India.
Clean neat place. Beautiful beaches. Beautiful sunset and sunrise. Heat is high. Good place to take your kids. Just keep them hydrated. We visited in rains still very hot
We watched the sunrise at Kanyakumari today at 6:07 AM, and it was absolutely breathtaking! 🌅 The sky slowly changed colors, and the view where the sea meets the sun was magical. A peaceful and unforgettable experience — a must-see moment in Kanyakumari! 🌊✨
Breathtaking Views and Peaceful Vibes! Kanyakumari Beach is truly a magical place where you can witness the meeting of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean. The sunrise and sunset views are absolutely stunning and worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. The beach area is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the view. You can also visit nearby attractions like the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and travelers visiting the southern tip of India!
Had a great time at Kanyakumari Beach! 🌊 It’s such a beautiful place, but I really hope the government takes better care of it and improves tourism facilities — this place deserves more visitors! 💙
Visiting Kanyakumari Beach is an experience like no other. The beach stretches along the southernmost tip of India, where the Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean meet. The shoreline is unique — a mix of sand and rocks, giving it a raw, untouched charm. Walking along the beach while listening to the waves crash against the rocks is incredibly calming 🌬️🌊. The beach is perfect for watching both sunrise and sunset 🌞🌇. Sunrise over the Bay of Bengal is magical, and sunset views are equally stunning. There are small local stalls nearby selling snacks and souvenirs 🐚🍴, but the beach itself feels peaceful and not overcrowded most of the time. It’s not ideal for swimming 🚫🏊, but excellent for photography 📸, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the natural beauty. Kanyakumari Beach is a must-visit for anyone traveling to the southern tip of India — a place where nature feels endless and awe-inspiring. 💙
Kanyakumari Beach is a unique spot where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean meet. The view of the waves merging together is truly mesmerizing and unforgettable. It’s a perfect place to enjoy both sunrise and sunset over the horizon. The beach is clean, lively, and surrounded by historic monuments and shops. A must-visit destination for anyone exploring the beauty and culture of South India.
Kanyakumari Beach offers a breathtaking view where the Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean meet. The sunrise and sunset here are magical, especially from the View Tower and near the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The beach is rocky, not ideal for swimming, but perfect for peaceful walks, photography, and soaking in the spiritual and scenic atmosphere.

Monumental, 40m-high statue and pedestal, of eminent Tamil poet and philosopher, on a small island.

The Thiruvalluvar Statue in Kanyakumari is one of the most iconic monuments in Tamil Nadu, standing majestically at the southern tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean converge. This massive stone structure is dedicated to the celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, the author of the Thirukkural, an ancient work of Tamil literature that offers timeless wisdom on ethics, politics, and love. The statue rises to a height of 133 feet, symbolizing the 133 chapters of the Thirukkural. It stands on a 38-foot pedestal known as the Mandapam, which represents the 38 chapters of virtue (Aram). Together, the pedestal and statue reach a height of 161 feet, making it one of the tallest statues in India. The structure was designed by Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati and was inaugurated on 1 January 2000 to mark the new millennium. The monument is constructed using stone and concrete, reflecting both artistic elegance and engineering brilliance. The figure of Thiruvalluvar is portrayed in a thoughtful stance, with one hand pointing skyward, symbolizing higher ideals, and the other resting by his side, signifying practical wisdom. Visitors reach the statue by ferry services from the mainland, which also connect to the nearby Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The location offers a breathtaking view of the vast ocean and serves as a reminder of Tamil culture’s philosophical depth. The Thiruvalluvar Statue is not only a tribute to a legendary poet but also a cultural landmark that inspires values of morality, righteousness, and harmony.
Kanyakumari is a truly mesmerizing place where nature, history, and spirituality blend beautifully. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean from the same spot is a unique and unforgettable experience. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue are both iconic landmarks worth visiting — peaceful, inspiring, and scenic. The confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean is stunning to witness. The town is clean, the locals are warm and welcoming, and there's a calm spiritual vibe everywhere. Street food is great too, especially the fresh coconut water and local snacks. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, explore Indian culture, or just enjoy coastal beauty. I'd definitely love to return!
The Thiruvalluvar Statue is a majestic monument honoring the great Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. 🗿 Standing tall beside the Vivekananda Rock, it offers a spectacular view of the sea. 🌊 The craftsmanship and architectural beauty of the statue are truly impressive. 🏛️ Visitors can enjoy the ferry ride and experience the serene surroundings. 🚤 Overall, it’s a proud symbol of Tamil culture and wisdom worth visiting. 🌅
The Thiruvalluvar Statue is a must-visit in Kanyakumari. Tall and majestic, it stands beautifully by the sea. The boat ride to reach it is exciting, and the sunrise view from there is simply unforgettable.
I visited this place on 5th October 2025. There was a big crowd, so I suggest not buying tickets online in advance — it’s better to get them directly at the spot. It’s a nice place to visit and enjoy the moment. However, the glass floor recently installed by the government was disappointing — the quality looks quite poor and needs improvement. Hope the authorities take note and make it better. Overall, a good experience at the Thiruvalluvar Statue, Kanyakumari — definitely worth visiting once! 🌊🌅
The 133-foot Thiruvalluvar statue, situated on a small rock at the confluence of three seas in Kanyakumari, presents a truly awe-inspiring and magnificent sight. 🤩🌊🗿 The glass bridge connecting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar statue enhances the visitor experience, accessible via a single boat ride from the shore. 🌉🚢😊
The Thiruvalluvar Statue is an iconic landmark that adds immense beauty and pride to Kanyakumari. The boat ride to the monument is enjoyable, and standing near the massive statue gives a breathtaking view of the endless ocean all around. The craftsmanship, peaceful surroundings, and the perfect blend of history and scenic charm make this spot unforgettable. A must-visit attraction along with the Vivekananda Memorial.
Statue of Wisdom or the Statue of Thiruvalluvar is located in Kanyakumari attached to the Vivekananda Rock memorial. Public can access till the feet of the statue through internal stairs. Access is through a glass bridge that connects the mandapam (& Vivekananda Rock Museum) and the statue.

Visited the Padmanabhapuram Palace, and it was truly impressive! 🏰 The palace showcases beautiful wooden architecture, antique interiors, and traditional Kerala design. Each room tells a story of history and royal life. The carvings and craftsmanship are amazing. However, the palace area is quite large, so it takes some time to explore — but it’s definitely worth it. The surroundings are peaceful and well maintained. A must-visit spot for anyone interested in heritage and history! 🌿✨

The seven-acre palace near Thuckalay is surrounded by hills, rivers, and waterfalls, making it very scenic. Interestingly, even though the palace is in Tamil Nadu, it is owned by the Kerala Government. Locals say that outside the palace is Tamil Nadu, but stepping inside takes you into Kerala. The Kerala Government has hired young staff trained in archaeology, which helps tourists enjoy the visit more. Mostly made of wood, the palace has beautiful murals, carvings, relics, and black granite floors. Built over 400 years ago, it is the largest wooden palace in Asia.
We visited Padmanabhapuram Palace on a Saturday holiday and reached around 9 AM. It wasn’t very crowded, which made the visit more peaceful. The palace is truly an archaeological wonder — beautifully preserved and full of history. Definitely a must-visit at least once! It’s easily accessible from Trivandrum, and there’s plenty of space for car parking, so no worries there. However, there aren’t many good restaurants nearby, so it’s better to plan your food in advance. Overall, a great experience for history and architecture lovers
It’s a big palace and easily takes 2+ hrs to cover. However, it would be difficult for elders to climb the stairs in this palace. There are too many and are steep. Would be good if they instruct this while issuing the ticket. Paid restrooms are here for 5₹ per head but could be maintained better. We went on a Saturday and lot of schools are bringing children to this place as a day trip.
Supposedly Asia’s largest wooden palace from the Travencore era. The palace is situated in Tamil Nadu, but still owned and maintained by the archeological department of Kerala, even after the reorganization of Kanyakumari district from Kerala to Tamil Nadu. It’s is well preserved, painting of artworks and maintenance done as needed. The palace is sprawling and displays Kerala style architecture. Good to visit! Caution: foot wear isn’t allowed inside the palace, walking around barefoot in the hot sun may burn feet 👣 🙂. Good to visit during early hours of the day, as crowd starts to swell past 11 AM.
Padmanabhapuram Palace is a historic 16th-century palace in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, once the capital of the Travancore kingdom. Despite its location, it is owned and maintained by the Kerala government, famous for its stunning traditional Kerala-style architecture and elaborate wooden carvings. Location: Situated in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, at the foot of the Veli Hills. Ownership: Owned and maintained by the Government of Kerala. Architecture: Known for its indigenous Kerala-style architecture, elaborate wooden carvings, and a mirror-like polished floor. Features: Includes the Mantrasala (council chamber), Dancing Hall, and the Uttupura (dining hall). The Uppirika Malika is a notable three-storied building. Significance: Considered one of the largest wooden palaces in India and a significant historical site.
A must place to visit. Yes, lot of improvements can be made, but to do so might impact the naturality and beauty of the palace. Spread across 6.5 acres, it is a great place to spend some time and enjoy.

Visiting the Suchindram Shree Thanumalayan Swamy Temple was a truly divine and memorable experience. Located just a short drive from Kanyakumari, this ancient temple stands out for its spiritual significance and stunning architecture. The temple is dedicated to the holy Trinity — Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Brahma — worshipped together in a single sanctum, which is something very rare in India. The moment I entered, I was amazed by the detailed stone carvings and the tall white gopuram (tower) covered with intricate sculptures. The craftsmanship is breathtaking — every pillar and sculpture seems to tell a story from our rich mythology. Inside, the atmosphere is calm yet powerful, filled with the sound of bells, chants, and the scent of flowers and camphor. One of the highlights is the massive statue of Hanuman, carved from a single block of granite — it’s truly impressive and radiates great energy. The temple’s musical pillars are another marvel; when gently tapped, each produces a different note, showcasing the brilliance of ancient South Indian architecture and engineering. Even as someone who enjoys visiting temples for both faith and architecture, I found Suchindram to be one of the most fascinating. The temple is clean, well-maintained, and beautifully preserved. The priests and devotees are warm and respectful, adding to the spiritual ambiance. Overall, Suchindram Temple is not just a place of worship — it’s a living example of art, devotion, and history coming together. Whether you visit for darshan or simply to admire its architecture, it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave.
Suchindram Shri Thanumalayan Swamy Temple is a must-visit for its divine atmosphere and stunning architecture. Dedicated to the holy Trinity—Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma—the temple is famous for its 22-foot Hanuman statue, musical pillars, and intricately carved mandapam with over 1,000 pillars. There’s a ₹10 entry ticket, and you’ll find stalls selling flowers and offerings near the entrance. Footwear storage is available, but parking is limited and comes with a small fee. The temple’s beauty and heritage more than make up for the minor inconveniences—an unforgettable stop for devotees and architecture lovers alike.
Located near Kanyakumari. This temple is dedicaed to Lord Sthanumalayan — a unique form of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The temple is renowned for its intricate stone carvings and majestic 18-foot-tall Hanuman statue. Its musical pillars and ornate gopuram showcase the brilliance of Dravidian architecture. The temple’s annual festivals attract thousands of devotees and tourists alike. Shuchindram Temple beautifully reflects the rich spiritual and artistic heritage of Tamil Nadu.
One of the famous Temple of south India . All 3 gods Brahma , Bishnu , Maheshwar get prayed here . The tradition is slightly different here . All mens have to remove their shirts or whatever they have wore at the top have to remove before entering here . Different temples have different traditions. Temple is beautiful,it's architecture is awesome and magnificent. It's just 15km from Kanyakumari, situated at Nagercoil. So don't miss the beautiful temple if you are visiting kanyakumari.
The Suchindram Shree Thanumalayan Swamy Temple is truly magnificent. The architecture is stunning — with intricate stone carvings, an ancient atmosphere, and a deep spiritual presence that makes the place feel special. Unfortunately, my experience was spoiled by the behavior of some of the temple staff. One of them snatched an extra banknote from my hand, and another openly demanded money. For the first time, I felt that the people inside a temple were looking at me not as a pilgrim, but as a source of cash. It’s a pity, because the temple itself truly deserves respect and admiration.
The Suchindram Temple, also known as the Thanumalayan Temple, is a historic Hindu temple located in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, dedicated to the trinity of Lords Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. It is famous for its unique architectural features, including a massive 22-foot granite Hanuman statue and four musical pillars that produce different notes.
I had such a wonderful visit to Suchindram Shree Thanu... The architecture is truly excellent and so impressive! 🤩 It's such a peaceful spot to experience the divine presence of Lord Thanumalayan. I was absolutely amazed! 🙏✨

A peaceful tribute to the Father of the Nation The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (Gandhi Mandapam) in Kanniyakumari is one of the most serene and thoughtfully designed landmarks in India. Nestled right by the seashore, this memorial beautifully captures the essence of Gandhiji’s life — simplicity, peace, and purpose. Built at the very spot where one of the urns containing Gandhi’s ashes was kept before immersion, the memorial is not just an architectural wonder but a sacred reminder of India’s greatest son. The central pink structure stands 79 feet tall, representing the Mahatma’s age at the time of his passing. Designed in the Orissan architectural style, the building is ingeniously constructed so that on October 2nd, Gandhi’s birthday, the sun’s rays fall exactly on the spot where his ashes were placed — a truly remarkable alignment that symbolizes eternal light and remembrance. Inside, you’ll find photographs, writings, and depictions of key moments from Gandhi’s life and India’s freedom struggle — offering both inspiration and insight. Despite being close to the bustling tourist areas of Kanniyakumari, the memorial itself feels calm and meditative, with the gentle sound of the waves enhancing its tranquil atmosphere. 📍 Tip: Visit around sunrise or sunset for a breathtaking view of the sea behind the memorial — the soft light makes the entire place glow. It’s also just a short walk from other major attractions like Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue, making it easy to include in your Kanyakumari itinerary. A must-visit for anyone who wants to feel the quiet strength and simplicity that defined Mahatma Gandhi’s life.
