Beautiful campus, the chapel is stunning. Food is a little pricey but hey, it's Duke. That's literally the only thing bad I can say about this place. As a hopeful student imagine if Duke sees my review 😂😂...just kidding. The Durham Arts Council is truly a gem, and I’m so grateful that our city has such a wonderful facility! My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner here for ~120 guests, and we can’t say enough good things about the staff and the venue itself.
The location is fantastic—centrally located and easily walkable from where our guests were staying. One of the things we loved most was that DAC offers in-house rentals for tables, chairs, bar setups, and more, so we didn’t have to worry about coordinating with a third-party vendor for those (we did work with American Party Rentals for table cloths and plates).
I worked with McKayla, who was an absolute pleasure to communicate with. She was always positive and super helpful throughout the whole process. DAC also offers various options for which combination of rooms you want to rent depending on your guest size. Their pricing and rental information is clearly laid out on their website, which made planning that much easier.
The venue features a catering kitchen and allows you to bring in any caterer you want, which gave us great flexibility. Coordinating pick-ups and drop-offs for the items we brought in was seamless, and they were kind enough to let us store everything overnight, so we didn’t have to spend the end of our night shuttling things home.
We hosted our cocktail hour and toasts in the big atrium with the balcony—it was such a beautiful space, and the large glass windows provided a stunning backdrop. We also brought in a jazz band, and the acoustics in that space were fantastic.
One of the highlights for the kids was an art scavenger hunt we put together. DAC kindly allowed the kids to explore the art in the Truist Gallery, even though that wasn’t part of the space we had rented—such a generous touch!
On top of all that, DAC offers so much to the community, supporting local arts and providing spaces for events and activities. We’ve even rented out their dance rooms on multiple occasions to practice dance routines, which has always been easy and reasonably priced—definitely a great option if you’re looking for a dance floor!
Overall, I’m just so proud that this venue exists in our city, and I highly recommend it for anyone planning an event or looking for a space to support local arts.

I love the Durham art council. I grew up in Durham and it always was a part of my creative Up-bringing. Today I had a very bad experience in the space. I suggested to my colleagues, in which we share a creative development company based out of Durham, that we should check out the space (Since they have not seen it before), and with permission, we would take a few pictures because the lighting is so beautiful on the lobby stairs. Again with permission!!! We had no problem not taking pictures in the space if it was not permitted! When we entered into the space, I asked the gentleman at the front table if it was okay for us to take a few company pictures in the space. I again asked for Permission and if not, then we were okay to just admire the space and leave. He said it was fine so while we were waiting for the photographer, we checked out the Gallery. We had a quick company discussion while waiting for the photographer once we left the gallery. All in which he was watching us the whole time as if we were going to do something wrong. After about 10 minutes the gentleman asked where we done taking our pictures. We obviously had not taken any pictures yet, so I let him know we were just quickly waiting for our photographer to bring their camera. He said "I didn't know anything about a camera" Again, we asked if we could take Company pictures ( Head shots) In the space, I don't know how we would have been able to take the pictures if no one had brought out a camera yet. I gently explained to him the photographer was getting ready to walk up, but we were okay not using the space (the staircase not the gallery) if it was not permitted. He shood me away rudely with his hand and told me to "get to it". I honestly was shocked at the immediate lack of respect. And my team and I quickly decided it would be best for us to just leave. We were treated like rowdy teenagers, even though we had on business clothes and are adults. As young black business owners, this did not feel good, especially seeing his caucasian coworkers being treated with respect. My feelings were deeply hurt by this interaction, being a Durham native and growing up in the space. Not all young black people are rowdy and destructive, some of us have done a lot of deep-rooting work in our city and have connections through our craft. Our company has partnered with the city, surrounding cities, and nonprofits to put on creative events and to expand opportunities for creatives in the city.. it was just truly disappointing to have an interaction such, with no care, especially when you have no clue who we are and what we have done. He could have simply told us no to taking pictures in the space. Again, I love the art center and will continue to support and would love to book the space for future events. But that interaction put a nasty taste in my mouth and left me pretty upset. I hesitated on saying something, but decided I should because it's supposed to be a welcoming space, and you should know how people are being treated in your space.

This place is terrifically astounding. I took the Intro - Intermediate Acting Theatre class in the middle of the Autumn season. Korinn and Deandre are remarkably passionate, thorough, and patient with the students in the classes. I learned quite a lot when taking it and I might take it again in the midst of winter so that my acting fire isn't extinguished. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in acting.

I'm a lover of great art and this place definitely hit it. It was a smaller gallery and exhibits but it was nothing short of amazing! It wasn't overwhelming so there was no need to rush. I took my time through each piece which is also a plus. The workers were super nice and attentive. Made our way out here for the Kevin James Comedy Tour. I had never been in this part of Durham, it is very inviting with a cool vibe. The DPAC is located next to the minor league baseball team……which I now want to make it out to a game…..restaurants all around and lots of parking decks. The center itself is really nice, clean and easy to access. Their security was a breeze and they along with the door greeters were super friendly and welcoming. Everyone was helpful and we quickly found our seats. They have some snacks for sale along with soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. We just got a soda and water because we had gotten dinner outside prior to the show. The venue is warm with lots of cozy seating. The sound and lighting were great. Once the show was over we were able to walk out pretty quickly. The venue itself is a five star. My only complaint is in the parking garage, even though they are conveniently located near the venue, they only had one elevator and lots of people waiting. The good thing is that even though it looked like a jam packed nightmare , we actually got out pretty quickly. Parking attendants have it set up perfectly and you are on the road home within minutes. Overall a great experience and definitely will try to get to more shows here!

Spectacular venue for concerts, musicals, plays, and whatever else they may host. The seating is very comfortable, well spaced, and straightforward to navigate. The lobby is really nice and has some basic refreshments available including beer and wine, and hot nuts! Not kidding.
The building is beautiful inside and out, totally modern and high quality. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is available nearby in several parking decks and surface streets as well.
The area around DPAC is also great and very cool to explore. Restaurants, hotels, the American Tobacco District, and downtown Durham all within walking distance. Such a great place to have nearby, it is a treat to see shows here.

DPAC is a great gem hosting everything from the Broadway touring shows to cute little candlelight concerts to the Lucy Dacus concert, where I coincidentally got married on stage!! We usually get the cheap seats in the balcony but there is truly no bad place to sit in this theater. Brought the family to watch Cosmic Baseball tonight - Durham Bulls against the Richmond Chilli Peppers. We had a BLAST!! The blacklight set up they had was so ridiculously easy, I hope and pray more local 2A-3A teams will start doing it too! The players still played a skilled game was easing up and having more fun with it. The kids AND the adults were dancing and having a great time. I haven't heard so much laughter, crowd participation, and excitement at a local ballgame in years!!! It was a family-friendly night that allowed all of us to kick back and have fun with it! Both teams constantly threw out sighed balls into the crowd adding another layer of excitement. Hiking the Eno River State Park is one of the most interesting hikes one can do around Orange and Durham County, if not the best. The labyrinth of trails takes one up and down and in some parts overlooking some incredible rock formations and stunning river views.
The Eno River trail system is a favorite because it's so much more than initially meets the eye. A lot of people spend a few minutes along one section and don't get the full experience.
There are many swimming spots along the river, like Bobbitt Hole and Turtle Hole.

Interesting downtown type of park place, though, not really a park, but has a few park elements. Stuff for kids to climb on, a big slide, a pixel wall, a bridge over a creek… My 4-year-old had fun there playing in the creek although we were wondering the whole time how clean or contaminated the water was. Trash and bottles were all around the area. The coolest thing there is the colored-peg pixel wall next to the apartments where kids can experiment with posting colored pegs and write something or draw a picture. I haven’t ever seen that before anywhere at any other park.

I would never go here again and as a sophomore I’m glad to transfer. My roommates and I had issues, they bullied me and housing did nothing besides remove me, AND kept my money for it. Then they dropped my in person classes and I was blamed for it despite asking for two months straight for them to be dropped, which dropped my GPA and didn’t allow me to switch to an online program. Came in for a battery replacement. Adam refused to run a diagnostic test on it, told me
he was sure by looking at it that the logic board was faulty. I tried to explain that it works fine on the charger but when I take it off the phone restarts with about 10% battery. Adam refused to hear me out and instead repeatedly talked over me about his qualifications and years of experience and how he can look at phone and know the issue so diagnostics are unnecessary. I turned away and called him a "butthead". He told me to leave the store 🤣. Went to CPR phone repair off of 15-501 and they replaced the battery and back off the phone for less than half of what Adam quoted me for a logic board in under an hour. It was wrong for me to call Adam a name but he was absolutely unprofessional for refusing to run diagnostics before diagnosing an issue and far more concerned with being a "Genius" than fixing the issue or helping the customer. An enormous ego on a man who was totally wrong about a basic repair and that's par for the course at this Apple store. Basically if you're okay being scammed I'm sure you'll have a fine experience here. Just a disaster of a place. Felt oppressive.

I almost never write reviews, but my recent experience with Apple has been so frustrating that I feel I need to share it.
I dropped off my MacBook at the store last Monday for repair. I was told it would be done by Friday. That part went smoothly, and the staff seemed helpful at first. But then — radio silence. No calls, no emails, no updates. A full week later (the following Monday), I went into the store myself just to find out what was going on.
After waiting 200 minutes for someone to check, I was told my computer was actually fixed but still hadn’t gone through some kind of final diagnostic. I was told to come back in 15 minutes. I waited 25 minutes, came back, and it still wasn’t ready. Then I waited another 15 minutes before they finally brought it out.
At that point, I thought the headache was finally over — but it somehow got worse. When they went to hand me my laptop, I was asked if I was 18. I said no, and they told me I couldn’t pick up my own computer because I wasn’t legally old enough to sign a release form. Mind you, I’m the person who bought the laptop, paid for AppleCare with my own money, and waited over a week past the estimated completion time — yet I was suddenly not allowed to take it home.
When I asked why no one mentioned this policy when I dropped it off, I was told that I “shouldn’t have been able to drop it off in the first place.” That’s absolutely ridiculous. If there’s a policy like that, the staff should’ve told me before accepting the repair. Now I have to come back again with a parent just to pick up the device that I personally paid for and that was supposed to be finished days ago.
The staff I dealt with were polite individually, but the overall organization, communication, and policy enforcement were a complete mess. I expected better from a company like Apple.

Not a Apple quality experience. My Airpods pro went bad so stopped by at the southpoint store. After 30 mins of wait they did the diagnosis of my airpods and determined both were bad. Luckily i had Apple care. They told me the parts are not available and when parts arrive they will call me. I waited for 2 weeks and then i called them. On the phone after 15 min of back and forth i learnt that there was some confusion. They already had the part but the technician dint know. So now i had to go back to store and get my airpods checked again. I go to store they run diagnostics again and determine only one airpod is bad so they replaced that. Then i test it and find out the second one is still not working. So they test the case of airpod and determine the case is bad. I m still at store waiting for them to come back and give me the fixed parts and not tell me that my ear has gone bad, coz i dont have apple care for my ear. Fingers crossed. So 2 visits and spending 2 and Half hours still waiting….

We came to Bull City Art and Frame after a lot of online suggestions and we couldn't be happier with the results. We'd never gotten something professionally framed before so I was a bit nervous of the process. First of all, I loved that we could walk in and we were immediately and warmly assisted. You don't need an appointment (and we went on a Saturday). We had a delicate tile art piece that we wanted framed where the back showed, which is a bit tricky, but the team was quick to give really great suggestions. We got it double framed to add dimension and the wood colors complement the tile and each other so well. They have hundreds of frame suggestions and they make it easy for you to visualize the end result. When we picked it up, they gave a template to hang it on our wall with hardware. Small but helpful detail. The team is professional, personable, trustworthy, and very welcoming. Plus they have a lot of local artist work for sale. Just a great experience and we will definitely go there again. Highly recommend for anything special you want framed.

The location, views, amenities, and atmosphere are perfect! Durham is a wonderful hidden gem with almost everything anyone could want. The apartments at One City Center put you right on top of it all. The night-time skyline view from your floor to ceiling windows look like Durham is right at your fingertips and the ability to walk to anything you desire is worth it as well. Security is great, onsite parking is good, and overall it has the feel of an expensive NY apartment building.

Beautiful common areas - pool with stunning views is available all year (heated)- unheard of! The management team and staff are the difference- you can have a beautiful home with stunning views and amenities but if the professional infrastructure is not top notch your satisfaction is short-lived. Love, this place! Awesome does not cover it! Reminds me of a Durham-centric version of Just Be! A gift shop in Downtown Greensboro!
I can find a lot of local art, clothes, and other knick-knacks and things that are unique to the City of Durham! All the items are made locally by regional craftsmen, artisans, and cool people!
Got some stuff from here, it is a go to when in The BullPen right before you get to The Central Park District of Downtown!
And the local who owns it, is charming! Love it!
