I loved sitting and reading the plaques that had exposition and backstory on the item it was attached to. I kept finding more interesting things to sit and research briefly on a bench provided. I easilly spent 3 hours there and honestly wanted to stay longer, but my paid parking was running out of time. I came 5 years ago and it was amazing, and it was just as cool this time around, even seeing some of the same artifacts. I'd easily go back to view the things I had to rush past! So much to sit with and take in. I will be back to see the exhibits I didn’t get to see. The wealth of information is extensive. Make sure you wear the proper shoes because there’s lots of ground to cover. Thankfully, the museum has many places for you to sit and take a break or simple mull over the art work right in front of you. If you want to start with American History, take a right as you walk in. If you want to start with Ancient Greece and or Eastern Civilization, take a left. You’ll also find African American History to your right as well. The museum has four floors on either side. If you don’t mind walking, take the stairs. If not, hop on the glass elevator which allows you to view the exhibits while taking a ride. The exhibits are well diverse and rich with history. You’ll thoroughly enjoy yourself if you’re a history buff like me. I’m always amazed to see how far we’ve come and in turn, appreciate the many contributions our ancestors made. With older kids it can be hard to find a place that each age range has fun and the Witte really fit the bill! We loved the exhibits and learning about Texas history and the tree house area was a big hit for us all! The dinosaur area was well placed to welcome you into the museum. In a couple of places they have videos and mannequins that are very realistic. I also liked that they had different types of displays and different timelines in history. Everything from dinosaurs to a photo galley to an indigenous people gallery. This museum is well maintained with lots of clean bathrooms. Appropriate for people of all ages. It’s also laid out so that it’s mobility friendly. And I specifically noted that they are LGBTQ friendly. The cost was worth the several hours I spent there on my visit. It’s highly recommended.

I can’t speak highly enough of this amazing, interactive, well-structured, and super fun place! I’ve been taking my daughter and her cousins here for 3 years and love being a member. There are endless activities for toddlers to pre-teens to enjoy all day long. We always arrive when they first open and stay for several hours. The outdoor spaces are beautiful and so immersive, from a creek to splash in to bubbles to a massive slide and musical tree fort. The kids love the water features. The ball room upstairs and Little Town downstairs are two top favorites. The staff are wonderful and friendly. You’re allowed to bring your own food and drink inside. I love spending a full day there once a month and watching the kids light up as they have the best time playing!

They have lockers if you do have a large bag. I was given a sticker and told to go to front of house. I waited till someone opened the door so that I may enter. I was given some basic rules for entering, all good and totally acceptable. I was given a little history of the house and was told it was a self guided tour. But it wasn’t self guided, you people followed me around watching my every single move. I would look over my shoulder and find one of you starring at me and then slowly backing up as to not get caught. I heard you behind me, the house creeks. I understand the house is filled with valuable antiques, some being small. But then put that stuff behind a partition! Stop watching people. I couldn’t even enjoy the beauty of this house because I was so uncomfortable. Someone has to escort you upstairs, which again is fine. You are doing too much. Both attendants in the house were incredible rude with their behavior. I wouldn’t return or suggest going here for the behavior of the staff. I’m not even a “selfie” person, but this place was just too cool to pass up! So many options for sooo many photos. And the price was well worth the experience and all the cool photos! If I go back to San Antonio anytime soon, I’ll definitely be going back! The attendant was very nice and even offered to take photos for us. They provide everything you need for awesome photos minus the camera. It was clean and really nice. 12/10!

On our second visit, we got the royal treatment! It was a slow evening, and so an employee named Alex accompanied us through the entire museum, and played the part of photographer. He sure knew what he was doing! He knew how to play with camera settings and angles to best complement each background, and sometimes suggest poses to try. In a whirlwind hour, we ended up with over 200 photos. I'll be sorting, editing, and sharing them as I get the chance. Although I was initially hesitant about the vanity of visiting a selfie museum, once I experienced it, I found it really was an opportunity to get creative, goof around, and capture some memories in the making!
