I used to stop in quite often for a coffee in the morning or during my lunch break, but the customer service — specifically from one particular woman has completely put me off. I’m not sure if she’s the manager, but she has black hair that she usually ties back in a ponytail. I mentioned to her, very politely, that one of the cakes I’d previously had tasted stale. It wasn’t even a complaint, just honest feedback. Her response was a very blunt “that’s nice”, said in such a passive-aggressive and dismissive way that it instantly made things awkward. She then made my coffee in front of me, clearly not caring, shoved the milk in without saying a word, and handed it over with the same rude attitude. When I mentioned it to my colleagues, several of them said they’d experienced the same behaviour from her, so it’s clearly not just me. The steak was slightly under cooked, fatty, and tough to cut - no steak knives available. The chips had been replaced by fried potato chunks. After finishing our mains our empty plates remained before us for a long time, even after we had attracted the attention of a server that we were finished. Coffee ordered, coffee did not come. Four of us booked a table for a meal. The entrance to the hotel looks superb, it was quiet, warm and inviting but strangely no-one about. It wasn't until we went up the stairs to the dining room that we eventually were approached by a server. We were taken to our table and placed our orders for food and drinks. The dining area was really nicely decorated, quiet and comfortable. All the food that was served to the table was excellent, couldn't fault any of it, delicious. The only thing that let the evening down was the service. Don't get me wrong the servers were polite and well presented and interacted with us in a pleasant manner (when they eventually came to the table) but we lost count how many times we had to grab the attention of a server to ask for drinks then wait 15-20 minutes plus before the drinks were brought to the table. Sometimes after asking, we had to ask another member of staff because the first had forgotten to come back. With the cocktails at an average of £17 each that's a lot of revenue the hotel is loosing, we could of happily bought another three or four each during our meal but for the slow service. This is a really nice place to bring someone as a treat or on a special occasion but the service has to be better to justify the higher cost. The toilets were clean and tidy.

Room was nice, clean and initial impressions were positive. At time of check in there was some noise coming from what appeared to be an event in the function suite which was directly below the room. Myself and my wife went out for food and drinks and enjoyed our time in Dundee. However upon return to the room shortly after 11pm there was loud music that could be heard throughout the room which was either coming from the function suite or the bar (not belonging Malmaison) that sits below this section of the building. Due to having unpacked we decided to try and tolerate this... Loud bass noise continued to around 2am. To compound this noise the room we were in was not great as there appeared to be a main drainage pipe for the building located within one of the walls and there was loud and repeated noises coming from it as water and waste moved through them. The location of the room again is not helpful as you are directly at the top of the stairs and as such there was a lot of footfall coming and going throughout the evening causing noise and banging doors. The room in itself was adequate, bed and duvet comfortable but pillows too soft and unsupportive. Staff could have been more supportive as whilst we didn't raise issues throughout the night I did raise them at check out which didn't particularly receive any kind of acknowledgement or apology and instead was solely met with the question... 'otherwise, your stay with us was good?' which I thought was a poor and disinterested response.

Additional lighting and mould remover will benefit the room and shower room. Window is facing a wall, total darkness, no view at all. Bed is comfy. The hotel is in a fantastic location. We were 12 golfers and were able to access several courses in the region. The hotel is downtown with several pubs/shops nearby in walking distance. The room was very well equipped. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom excellent. Only issue was with air cooling... The hot breakfasts every morning were fantastic. Our servers were fabulous. Restaurant could use an additional coffee machine to handle peak time. We also enjoyed a private dinner. It was excellent. The steaks were really good... quite surprising high quality food in a hotel... a more than pleasant surprise! I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.

All rooms were gorgeous, lovely bed linens, towelling bathrobes and biscuits, fresh water, teas and coffee making in the room. The gardens are lovely with an outdoor bar, and outdoor eating pods! The view from the Turret room was amazing! We loved sitting in the room with the family as it had a leather sofa and comfortable seating. The beautiful country-style house, lovely gardens, and tasteful interiors instantly impressed us upon arrival. Our room was spacious, clean, and charming — everything we had hoped for. Unfortunately, our stay was heavily overshadowed by a private event happening on the night of our visit. I did receive an email beforehand stating there "may be some disturbance until 11:30 PM" — but what we experienced was far beyond a mild disturbance. It was a full-blown nightclub experience directly beneath our room, with loud music and shouting that went on until midnight, followed by the noise of staff cleaning up long after. The hotel bar was completely packed with party guests, making it impossible for us to even relax or enjoy a drink after a long day of driving. The most concerning part was that party-goers accidentally entered our room — completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one of this caliber. My son struggled to fall asleep with all the noise and chaos happening around us, making it a very stressful night. When I raised my concerns the next morning, I was simply reminded that they had "sent an email" — as if that excused the experience. Was I supposed to cancel my long-planned reservation because of a party I had no control over? Very disappointing customer service for such an otherwise beautiful property. Everything was included, with no hidden fees. Only £10.75. It's the best gluten free pizza I've had in the ten years I've not been able to eat gluten. Staff are very friendly. The soup, sandwich and cake deal was really great value. It’s great that they have so many savoury and sweet gluten free options and it seems the kitchen takes care in keeping everything separate. Unfortunately, one staff member brought my tea out with a gluten biscuit on the side. I was there with my wife, my 4 and 9 year old. I ordered 2 cold drinks, which when they arrived I noticed they were filled to different levels.
