What more can you say. Whether you drive there or walk from the old iron age hillfort the views are breathtaking here. The toilets are free as well which is a bonus. Had a walk upto the sisters on the cliff by the roundabout which was quite strenuous. Lots of different walks going in all different directions. Would definitely recommend wearing good walking shoes though as very stoney. Entertaining to see the feral goats there as well. Just a short walk down past the cliffs though is the Abbey which was worth a visit as well. Recommend if you're in the area

We turned up early and sat in picnic area for lunch and had a look inside Greenn House where you can use toilet, look at history and information and eat picnic indoors. We booked a riding and grooming session where my daughters learned to tack up and groom before a ride around the lanes and fields at the centre. Very pretty area, location is quite remote. If you are looking to learn a bit about the Exmoor ponies, get close to them and ride, then this is a great day out, and will be a memorable family day for families, the cost wasn't over rated and what you pay goes to help the centre keep going.

Staff were always happy and friendly. We brought our own paddle boards and were allowed to free roam on the lake (within reason). Plenty of biking and hiking trails to keep you active and occupied, with some lovely views to boot! Overall a great camping experience with family and friends of all ages.

Took the West Somerset steam train which was a short walk away. Expected this to be ruins but was pleasantly surprised at how well retained this building was. Steeped in history. And great to explore. Plenty of rooms to visit including a big open room with loads of atmosphere. And with lovely grounds outside to sit and enjoy. A well stocked shop where both my sister and myself returned with souvenirs and yummy jams and relishes. And a very helpful assistant who gave us loads of information about the Abbey.

We stopped for a quick drink whilst on our way from Barbrook to Lynmouth, along a recognised path. Although sometimes uneven, it is well signposted, and follows the riverbank closely. Coffee was good, the size was large, and the canned drinks were ice cold, a welcome refreshment after some of the steeper parts of the walks down to the lodge. I’m practicing cantering in my lessons and this definitely helped with my confidence! Was some steep areas to lean back whilst going down but the horses were so trustworthy! The weather was great the day we visited, so this obviously helped. Yes, some parts are quite dated, but that's what made it charming. The water fountain show had everyone clapping along. If you're expecting a historic castle with lots to read and things you can't touch, then it's probably not for you. However, if you want to have fun, laugh, and be entertained (and brave enough to open doors, press buttons and see what's around the corner 😉), then you will love it... It is hard to keep so much of it accessible being built in a very steep hill and being also an old castle but it was very cleverly thought it to enable access to nearly every nook and cranny. The sun was out and the surf was up….kind of, we were here for August bank holiday Monday so got here at around 10am ….and at 10.30am they were heading up the road with the car park full/closed signs, so get here early. There is a great little beach hut cafe selling pasties and rolls , coffee etc also a little shop selling beach tat. There is also a restaurant there for the more refined palate. There is a surf shop and surf school for all your surfing needs. The beach itself was clean and massive! Check the tide times…at low tide it’s quite a walk to get to the sea. I took the kids body boarding which they loved…the waves were big enough without being scary and we never ventured over waist depth. It’s dog friendly so plenty of ankle biters yapping and changing around but not too much of a nuisance. We took our own gear but you can hire everything there if you want to, including windbreaks, chairs, even beach tents…they do a complete beach camp set up for £20 there’s even huts available for £30. All in all a fab day was had by all, topped off by having fish and chips at squires in nearby Braunton.

We went recently, haven't been since a child, and it was a pleasant time. We spent around 3 to 4 hours walking round and I'm sure we would have been longer in the summer time. Lots to see inside the buildings with fish, snakes, spiders, crocodiles and more. A good mix of indoor animals. We went to the 2pm show to touch and hold different animals which included a snake, ferret and a bearded dragon. The daughter (1Y 8M) loved it and the handlers were great. They took care of the animals as the ferret got agitated, so they took it away to ensure the animal was happy. Much better than forcing the animal to be seen. Hats off to the handlers. It was quite fun walking around with the peacocks walking around, made the place feel closer to the animals. The play areas were great, but felt it was geared more towards older children as the inside play area didn't offer much for young children. I would definitely come again in the warmer months of the year but felt like we got our moneys worth going even when cold. The staff were nice and greeting and couldn't fault the experience at all. We will be going again!
