The Hitching Post(晚餐最棒!!
La Fonda Gourmet(点了莫罗石斑鱼,是我吃过最好吃的石斑鱼)。
Carabali Beach House。

Get comfy folks, I have a lot to say!
The Rainforest Inn is paradise. I will detail the many reasons why below, but I can’t recommend staying here more to anyone looking to disconnect from the stress of life, reconnect with nature and reconnect with whoever you bring with you.
The Inn: The Inn is gorgeous. The landscape architecture is incredible. Bill and Renee (the owners) have done an incredible job at cultivating a vibrant and lush natural environment that invites beautiful birds, insects (the kind we like - dragonflies, butterflies, etc), frogs and lizards. The pool on the property feels like homeostasis and is incredibly well maintained. You can soak in it while you overlook their beautiful pond. It’s covered, so even if it’s raining (usual afternoon thunderstorms typical for tropical destinations in summer season), you can still enjoy being outside. We spent an entire day just enjoying the grounds, including the private waterfall hike (see below). Even the drive up to the property feels like a dream. Bill and Renee are so lovely (and interesting) and really attentive. To help them out, download WhatsApp before you arrive! Finding the Inn on Googlemaps was easy, we had cell service the entire time and the Inn is literally 30 min from the airport. Breakfast was DELICIOUS. Drinking our freshly made lattes on the private porch before breakfast was a highlight. NO MOSQUITOES.
The room: we stayed in the Jungle Suite. The suite is pretty luxurious and very romantic - hanging supperrr comfortable bed (you feel like a baby being rocked to sleep), private outdoor patio well concealed with two soaker tubs and hammocks, a beautiful shower, soft fluffy towels, cotton bathrobes provided. A full kitchen (French press coffee if you need afternoon coffee - bring coffee grounds). I worried all the way leading up to this trip about the fact that it is clearly communicated that there is no central AC and that our Floridian-selves would grossly sweat all the way through this trip. That was a waste of my time. Between the trade winds/breeze on the mountain, shade, fans AND A SELF COOLING MATTRESS (that can literally become icy if you self-set the temp too low) we actually woke up cold a couple of times. Returning to central AC at the airport was honestly, a little revolting. We visited at beginning of October, with highs in the upper 80s and lows in upper 70s (Fahrenheit).
The hike: the hike noted on the website was pretty spectacular BUT note these things (which Bill will tell you himself when you sign your safety waiver): bring close toed hiking shoes. Take the hiking sticks from the Inn (two of them per person!). Go in the morning (avoid afternoon rain). HANDS AND KNEES when you get the falls, it’s slick. The pool at the waterfall is so deliciously cool. The falls is beautiful. To be there alone was a special treat. We took the picnic lunch to go offered by the Inn and it was really tasty, a great value.
Other area highlights:
Food:
The Hitching Post (best dinner!! Elevated food. Not open Wed/Thurs, 8 min from Inn on a horse ranch.
La Fonda Gourmet (got the Moro (grouper), best grouper I’ve ever had.
Hike:
Mt Britton Hike - well paved, beautiful walk through the rainforest, decent elevation gain, nice end destination - took two 30 something’s one hour out and back.
Beach:
Carabali Beach House. Park at the Basketball court and walk on the beach to get down there. So private. You won’t regret it. It’s across from Luquillo beach.
This trip really was a dream, and we can’t thank Bill and Renee enough for sharing their dreamland with us.
