Salzburg is very nice place to visit. Salzburg Card 包括了城市里很多热门景点（如 Hohensalzburg Fortress、Hellbrunn Palace、Mozart’s Birthplace 等）以及市内公共交通（巴士、电车）免费使用。
人多不建议坐缆车，走路也不难走，只有几百米，上面也有售票处。

景点不错，就是必须要买门票就很不合理了。可以收缆车的门票钱，可是自己爬上去的游客还被特地用一扇门拦住想要游客买票才能参观城堡就有点太刻薄了，最起码在欧洲是如此！

宫殿不大，差不多10个房间吧，最多半小时就转完了，花园有意思，尤其是喷泉trick，挺有趣的，记得穿防水的衣服。
宫殿一般没什么看头，不过旁边的一大片草坪真心不错，在那休息一下挺好。

Echt unfreundlich hier und absolut nicht Hundefreundlich. An alle Hundebesitzer kommt nicht hierher. 14.5€ für das Ticket und ihr dürft nirgends rein. Auch nicht in den Aussichtsturm. Ein Hund der Brav an der Leine läuft darf fast Niergens rein. Kinder die alles anfassen kein Problem.
Das ist sehr diskriminierend uns Hundebesitzer gegenüber. Es ist für uns das gleiche als würde man einem Elternteil sagen das er mit seinem Baby nicht rein darf. Ich verstehe das unsere lieben haarigen Babys nicht überall rein dürfen. Wie dort wo Lebensmittel hergestellt werden. Aber in eine Burg sie nicht reinzulassen oder in Läden und Restaurants. Das ist Hinterwäldlerisch unterbelichtet und diskriminierend.

We did the bus tour and it was incredible!!! Brittney was our tour guide and I can’t remember the name of our bus driver, but he made really impressive maneuvers of the big bus in the town. The tour was so comprehensive - we learned so much about the actors and actresses, behind the scenes, and some history of Salzburg. We originally had wanted to do the bike tour but loved seeing the stunning Mountain View’s up near Mondsee. I would do this tour again and again, it was so fun!!

The tour is fantastic, as well as visiting all the filming locations and learning more about the film, you also learn so much about Salzburg itself and the real Maria. We planned our trip to Austria around this tour specifically and it was so worth it! We had tour guide Kylie and driver Ferdinand who were fantastic - their enthusiasm really added to the experience! Following the scenes in the Sound of Music has always been a dream of mine. I went back and forth on doing this tour with some of the spots stopping for only 15 minutes would I want to go. I’m SOOO glad we did. Connor was our guide and made it the best tour! We recommend this tour if you love the sound of music, we found it helpful to know the places we wanted to go back to for more time.

I enjoyed this tour! Our guide, Kylee, was fantastic — very upbeat, engaging, and knowledgeable about both the movie and the real Von Trapp family. The tour was in English, and our driver, Ferdinand, made the ride smooth and comfortable.
We rode in a full-sized bus and made three main stops. The first was beside a beautiful lake, where Kylee showed us the back of two mansions used as the Von Trapp home in the movie. We also stopped at the relocated gazebo, famous for the “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” scene, and then visited the lovely town of Mondsee, where we saw St. Michael’s Basilica, the church where Maria and Captain Von Trapp’s wedding took place in the film. This was our longest stop and included time to eat at Café Braun (to be reviewed separately).
Throughout the ride, Kylee points out other filming locations (but we didnt go down). In addition, a video featuring Liesl from the film played, celebrating the movie’s 40th anniversary. Kylee also encouraged everyone to sing along to some of the songs, which added a fun and cheerful touch. Restroom breaks were announced at some stops, which was appreciated.
The tour ended at Mirabell Gardens, where Kylee pointed out — from the circular water feature — the spots used in the “Do-Re-Mi” scene where the Von Trapp children marched along the edge.
The only thing I kind of questioned was that we only stopped at three locations (not counting Mirabell Gardens). I had expected a few more photo opportunities based on the itinerary.
Still, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and it was a fun, nostalgic way to see Salzburg and its surroundings.

Our tour time was very booked up so instead of the big bus we were out on a smaller bus and got a private tour effectively! Kylie was a FABULOUS tour guide, amazing knowledge and even spent time with the VT children a few weeks back for the 60th anniversary of the film!
Words can’t describe how good this tour was, genuinely. If you like/love anything remotely SOM, even just one part, do it!

The tour guide, Kylie is amazing! The driver, Dragon is just as amazing. I went by myself and I had a chance to talk for a bit with Kylie and share my personal experience with the movie, and throughout the tour, it felt like she made sure I never had to feel alone. The tour is worth every penny especially if you love the movie as much as I do. I did not regret it at all— with the price they offer, you get to see the filming locations, even Mondsee, a city just outside Salzburg. Four hours went by so quickly. Einen wunderschönen Abend erlebten wir im Gasthof Schloss Aigen. Der Service war aufmerksam und gemessen an der vollständigen Auslastung aller Tische auch ziemlich schnell. Die Wartezeiten vor und zwischen den Gängen empfanden wir als sehr angemessen.
Vorweg gab es ein für meinen Gaumen sehr ansprechendes Amuse Gueule von der Entenleber mit Preiselbeeren. Andererseits eine recht mutige Tat der Küche; Entenleber ist ja nicht jedermanns Sache. Ich hingegen bin bei dieser Fleischsorte geblieben und wählte als Vorspeise die „Essenz von der Ente mit Butternockerl und schwarzen Walnüssen“. Eine tiefdunkle, vielleicht einen Tick zu süße Brühe mit flockigen Nocken und - leider nur einer dünnen Scheibe - einer hervorragenden Walnuss. Von Plural keine Spur!
Als Hauptgang gab es die „Knusprige Schlossente mit Rotkraut und Serviettenknödel“ - ein sehr empfehlenswertes Weihnachtsessen. Dazu einen soliden Pinot Noir aus dem Kremstal.
Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für das Ambiente, dass am 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag doch sehr unter dem Andrang litt. Es fand eine Familienfeier im Saal statt, alle anderen Tische waren voll belegt; man hatte auch noch Zusatztische aufgestellt, leider ohne Licht nur mit Kerzenschein. Alles etwas zu laut, zu rummelig und zu dunkel.
Mein Favorit steht VOR der Tür, der Gourmet-Automat, in dem man sich rund um die Uhr mit exzellenten Produkten aus der Gasthof-Küche versorgen kann. Tolle Idee!

I have encountered at the end an unpleasant surprise. In the bill they put for one of the Rindfilet a higher price than the one in the menu. When I asked about the lady said that she didnt brought us that one but another dish with an higher price. I asked why and she gave an explanation that didnt sound to me convincing. ‘O, I asked you if you wanted medium or well done and you said ‘well done’ and that’s the one!! I didnt want to continue further the argument, but I told her that she should have clarified that in advance. She said just ‘sorry’ in a kund of rude way. I dont think she was really sorry and I think she did this rather on purpose than by mistake.

A short visit that I only decided to do because of the heat outside turned out very well. Entrance for jugend was 2euros and for this you get some nice background information on how Salzburg looked through the years. After that you're treated to a stunning panorama painting of the whole city seen from the fortress hohensalzburg. I absolutely loved the Gunda Gruber exhib that I went to see here. 1 museum, 2 locations, different exhibs at both, both worth visiting and close to each other. The other location is only 5 mins walk and a lift. You can hike up if you're feeling very energetic. Schloss Anif is privately owned and not open to the public for visits. The surrounding perimetre is totally hidden by trees/shrubbery so its almost impossible to get a glimpse of this hidden gem.
My Mum who now resides in Austria found out about the "Open Day" by enquiring with the local church in Anif. Twice a year, once in summer and once in winter, the gates are open and you are permitted with the church as part of their Corpus Christi service celebrations allowed to join them and enter the castle gates to view this stunning castle on the moat and attend the service.
This year on the 19-06-25, we were fortunate enough to be able to join the procession and enter the private gates that are usually locked to the general public.
Aside from being from the UK, this is very special for Austrians alike who also get to be a part of a special day and view this stunning castle for a short period of time.
The castle is beautiful. Very much like a fairy tale movie.
We followed the procession, stopping to take pictures along the way and joined everyone in the castle's courtyard for the Corpus Christi service which is fully in German. Afterwards, you follow the loop round back to the gate but there was ample time to take in the scenery and take many pictures before being ushered out.
As part of the Corpus Christi celebrations, it only permits you entrance into the grounds and courtyard of the castle for the service, not the castle itself.
A magical experience. It was really worth getting up early for. A hidden gem on the outskirts of Salzburg city.
*NOTE* - On day of event - there are no toilets/refreshments provided so you have to be prepared if you are lucky enough to attend a service to join the procession to enter the castle gates to see Schloss Anif and attend the Corpus Christi service. You may not wander off of your own accord/no private tours/no visits to interior of the castle.

What a fantastic museum – I don’t even know where to start! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the museum itself is absolutely massive with so much to see. There are audio guides available in both English and German, and if you don’t want to pay for a lendable one, you can simply bring your earbuds and scan the QR code to listen on your phone.

We came here for the tour. You'll need to book a time for a tour online, then you'll receive a confirmation by e-mail. You'll need to check in when you arrive at the events office (located to your right when you enter the building). They'll check your reservation and you'll have to pay for the tour (26€ per person).
