I went to this place with my family on my trip to kotor. Good location and definitely a great variety on the menu to choose from but to be honest , didn’t meet my expectations. Food definitely looked good and colorful but was quite bland at taste. Surely not for my palate. Salt was lacking in most of the things that we ordered. I came here based on google reviews but it didn’t meet the hype in my eyes. Location is good and so is the vibe of the place . Service wasn’t too bad either but the food was just okay . We ordered Buddha bowl , vegan curry , banana smoothie, soup and chicken noodles . Soup and the Chicken noodles were the best out of all that we ordered. In short , not impressed .

We were just about to start the walk up to Kotor Bay view , which we knew was going to be a good three or four hours walk up.
We accidentally stumbled across this restaurant and it was the one of the best ‘restaurant finds’ that we had done on that trip . The manager, and the staff, welcomed us into their restaurant like no other restaurant in Montenegro had done up to that point. (they even allowed us to join two tables and rotate them at 90° so that all seven of us could sit around)
The decoration was old Yugoslavian style, and modern, but very comfortable
The hospitality was so amazingly warm and inclusive.
We started our meal with a lovely tossed salad , which strangely I partnered with an ice cold Moscow Mule ( don’t ask me why), followed by a black breaded burger. Do not be put off by their name of the black bread bun, because this was the most amazingly moist, and tender burger I’ve had

that by the time we had completed our Climb, we decided to come back into the Citadel city, and left the restaurant that we were eating it to come back to Taraca

If you’re visiting Kotor and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Bokun Bar and Restaurant is the place to go. Nestled in the heart of the Old Town, this charming spot offers not only a perfect atmosphere but also some of the best food we’ve had in Montenegro.
We ordered the fish platter, and it was absolutely phenomenal — hands down the best in town. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, it offered a variety of expertly grilled and prepared seafood that would satisfy any seafood lover. The selection was generous, and each bite was better than the last. Truly a highlight of our trip!
The ambience at Bokun is relaxed yet vibrant, with a lovely outdoor seating area that captures the charm of Old Town perfectly. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy a leisurely meal, whether you’re with friends, family, or enjoying a romantic evening out.
Special shoutout to Alex and Honey, our wonderful waitresses — warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout. Their service was exceptional and really elevated the entire experience. And of course, a huge thanks to Okan, the chef, whose culinary skills are second to none. Every dish we tried reflected both passion and expertise.
The menu also features a great variety beyond seafood, including local favorites and Mediterranean classics, all made with high-quality ingredients.

We came a bit after 10:00 hoping for breakfast, but were told it's no longer served — which we understand. Since crepes were listed both under breakfast and dessert, we asked for those, but were told they weren’t available. Even though we were the only guests at the time, the service was unfriendly and "bothered" by us from the start. I ordered a Caesar salad, which looked nice but tasted like a basic salad with a generic dressing — no sign of the classic Caesar flavour. I don't even know where to start because I can only say good things. The guys do their job so well and are so kind to the guests that I rarely feel so good in a place like this. The cocktails are phenomenal. They are beautifully made. But it's not just the cocktails that are amazing, everything else is too. The place is very cool and very cozy. I loved being there. It's a rare good place and I hope that the place will be around for a very long time, because I will definitely visit it if I'm in Kotor again. It's become my favorite place :)

Amazing atmosphere, delicious cocktails and beers. I stayed at Kotor for a week and went there every single day to try each cocktail and craft beer. They have a VERY wide range of drinks. Most of them are extremely unique.
My recommendation for you is to ask the guys what to drink because they make the best recommendations according to your taste. I liked all of them !

First off, whoa, the cocktails are expensive!... HOWEVER, they are worth it. These are some of the best cocktails I've ever seen, or tasted. Seriously. You're paying for a massive amount of love and effort going into your drink. I recommend you go inside and watch them make it, there's so much that goes into these, it's worth the money, and worth the wait.
The cocktail menu is incredibly well laid out. It's sorted by taste, by spirit, all kinds of different ways. So while they have 230 cocktails, it feels easy to find things you'll like, based on how your brain tends to think of your own preferences.
The beer looks AMAZING, we didn't partake at all, save for a couple of free tastings, but I'd imagine it's great as well-- Mad Scientist is such a fun brewing company. It matches their vibe perfectly.

In June 2024, we discovered this charming spot in the heart of Kotor and ended up going there two days in a row. On our first visit, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely waitress named Denise, who recommended their specialty, the Dobrotska torta — a rich almond and liqueur cake (€5.5 per slice). It was absolutely delicious!
The next day, we returned to try Kotorska Krempita (€4 per slice), a local favorite. It reminded us of a Turkish-style mille-feuille: layers of delicate pastry with smooth cream in between, topped with powdered sugar. Light, sweet, and simply perfect.
When I asked Denise to take a photo of me and my son, she happily joined the frame with us. Upon learning that we were from Turkey, she even asked how to say “Good morning” and “Thank you” in Turkish — and repeated them back with a smile:)

Came here for lunch (late October) prior to a boat trip. Waiter came right over. We said that we were short on time. Ordered the falafel and the protein quinoa bowl (being vegan and such). Everything arrived to the table within 8 minutes of sitting down! Food was fantastic! We really liked the lentils in the falafel, for a twist. Waiter was friendly, spoke good English, attentive. As far as the toilet situation goes, there was a code on our receipt to use the facilities at the end of the building. Inside were women/men toilets (2 urinals and a sit toilet for the men). They did have a lot of use, but were clean enough. Note: there was only 1 medium cruise ship in port today, which can make a difference, but that isn't the restaurant's fault.

Cozy and quiet place. The staff doesn't speak English, and avoids foreign customers. It seems that their main focus are organized groups lead by local guides who use the pub as a meeting place. After 10 min of waiting we found out that the bar is self serve, which I still am not totally convinced about. When approached, the staff at the bar were unfriendly and unwelcoming. We eventually left without ordering anything. The experience was rather bad. Hopefully you will be more lucky as the place really seems great at first glance. Two stars only for location.

They said they have no real mint and substitute it with peppermint liquor. For those who don't know peppermint liquor...it tastes like toothpaste, it's very artificial. Very beautiful, quaint and cosy hotel with a baroque façade situated in the heart of the beautiful historic old town close to the main gate. I stayed in a room with a wonderful balcony overlooking the old town and so that was an advantage. The room is clean and spacious and has enough closet space. You also have a fridge to keep your drinks cool . The bathroom is spacious and shower water pressure is strong . There is daily housekeeping which keeps the room very clean and supplies enough towels. The breakfast buffet is spacious and very tasty with a selection of cold and hot options. The staff is very friendly and approachable and will make you feel at home the moment you arrive. My favourite thing to do was to sit on the balcony and watch the crowds go by after an exciting day of exploring Kotor. The only disadvantage I would mention is since the hotel is located in the heart of the old town there can be noise from the street and so I recommend using ear plugs at night to be able to sleep. I would definitely stay here again and can't wait to return to this beautiful country.

Ещё год назад, будучи в Которе, я писал отзыв об одной кофейне в старом городе (не кофейне, строго говоря, а самом обычном кафе, найденном по отзывам "знатоков" кофе). Сделав в итоге невесёлый вывод о том, что в Которе нет классических кофеен как таковых. И соответственно нет приличного кофе, потому что то, что выдают за кофе во всех заведениях общественного питания, это, конечно же, полное издевательство...
С удовольствием констатирую, что я ошибся. Есть! Есть классическая кофейня с очень и очень неплохим кофе. Лучше кофе в Черногории я пробовал только в Херцог-Нови. (Эта кофейня есть у меня в отзывах. Говорят, его открыли ребята из Уфы. Думаю, этим все и объясняется).
Небольшое заведение в Старом городе. Уютно, тихо, немноголюдно... Немного странное меню. В нем, почему-то, отсутствует эспрессо и капучино. Ну да ладно. Я заказал латте. На фоне всеобщего черногорского кофейного пойла это было неожиданно хорошо и невыразимо приятно. (Что бы было понятно, это, примерно, уровень московского "Кофе Хауз". Конечно, не самый высокий уровень, но для Черногории это более чем). Цена в целом чуть выше средней по городу (€3,4 за большую кружку), но оно того стоит.
Удивляло, что в кофейне всегда было пустовато. С одной стороны хорошо, без толкотни, в приятной тишине, с другой стороны было немного обидно за хорошее заведение: люди странным образом предпочитали хлебать откровенную бурду в многочисленных забегаловках Старого города.
Следует иметь в виду, что в кофейне ничего кроме напитков нет. Если вы усаживаетесь выпить кофе в самом заведении, то к напитку вы получите маленькую печенку. Всё. Но, при этом, подача кофе просто великолепна: на блюде, в красивых чашках с кошками, с двумя длинными ложечками. Красиво, чёрт возьми...

Our favourite place to eat that we found in Kotor. Its situated on a narrow street near the main gate to the old town. It appears there is normally a bit of a wait, but we just relaxed with a drink. I had salmon with orange sauce one evening and steak with whisky sauce the next and both were excellent- although neither sauces particularly tasted of orange or whisky they were very tasty. My husband had the burger said it was the best burger he had ever tasted! The waiter was excellent as was the atmosphere. Totally recommended.

Best hidden treasure of Kotor old town. The staff is so nice, not pushy at all.
They were so kind to lemme enjoy a pizza slice from nearby and only get the beer from them.
Came back several times and even tried the food. The beef steak was cooked to perfection and the veggies for to die for.
I highly recommend giving it a try and skip all those tourist traps.
Btw, food came in less than 10 min after ordering it. Saw some reviews from past years that it took too long. Well, guess they fixed this.
Will go again.

Nice atmospheric pub in the old town alleyway.
Had a Gastro Burger and a Club Sandwich with a draft beer and orange juice.
Quiet place with a few tables outside and inside. Small, compact yet sufficient menu that serves all tastes.
Service is great. Questions about menu items were answered to accurately and customizing menu items is possible.
Food was not of the highest quality but very tasty and prepared well. Presentation was excellent.
Our food order took 50 minutes because of issues in the kitchen and for that we received complimentary drinks of our choosing.
Would go again and again.

The burger and the pasta are awesome.
But the first time I waited exactly 40 minutes for the burger (I was alone) and the second time it was 55 minutes for 2 burgers and 1 pasta. The waiter didn't say anything so I guess those waiting times are normal.
