Absolutely beautiful living fort. People live inside the fort and many old houses are converted into guest houses and restaurants.
There is a jain temple which is located on the right portion of the fort and is a must visit.
Taking a guide is recommended, they explain the history and walk you through the narrow lanes. A guide booth is located near the car parking and they announce it on speaker also, do not take guides waiting and stopping the cars nearby.
One issue is for parking. On a busy day, its very hard to find the parking and authorities are only interested to collect the parking charges. They do not stop any vehicle near the entry where they collect Rs.60 for parking even after parking gets full and you are left on your own. Wastes huge amount of time. If you stay outside the fort and can’t reach early, take an auto rickshaw to avoid this frustration.

This place is a tiny little gem, waiting to be explored by culture enthusiasts. It is a very small museum, an underwhelming room really, of all things Rajasthan! It has been curated out of a personal collection. Entry is free and you will find Mr Shiva there, who will happily guide you through the artifacts and their significance. There are age-old photographs, tools, weapons, utensils and many other local things to aquaint you about Rajasthani culture and village lifestyle. I went there with my wife and 2 young kids, with absolute nil expectations. But we ended up spending about a good 30-35 mins, lost in conversation with Shiva. Today i visited the THAR HERITAGE MUSEUM in Jaisalmer. I really liked it. Their I met Mr L.N khatri as well. A good men who himself explained everything to me. He gave almost 30 years for the collection and he himself is maintaining the museum. Please do visit here with your family. Boating is available until around 6–7 PM, and evenings are especially beautiful — the lake shores light up with warm yellow lights, creating a serene and picturesque view.

However, it’s not really open to tourists, the haveli is privately owned and still occupied by a family, and visitors are only allowed to enter the narrow middle passage. The museum charges nothing extra to foreigners or Indians alike but the man who owns/maintains the facility has no support from the government. As a result the displays are dated and require a lot of reading.
This is not a "ooo look! A buddha statue! Let me take a quick selfie and move on!" kind of museum. Every peice has full descriptions to its importance in Hindi and English.

This is museum cum palace. We can see Raja ka mahal and Rani ka mahal as well as other family rooms here. Various royal artifacts are kept here for display. There is underground passage after Rani ka mahal where we feel enthralled while walking through it. View from terrace is beautiful. At the time when I was in the fort palace museum they were seemingly doing extensive rework. Not sure whether this is finished. We couldn't enter some rooms because of that. Generell speaking though, it's still worth a visit even if only to have a look at the swarm of bats camping out in the arch of the gateway.
You also get good views of Jaisalmer and you can climb to the highest spot of the fort for a 360 degree look at the city.

It's one of the most beautiful temples I have ever seen. Unfortunately Amar Sagar Lake was dried up but I can imagine how beautiful it would have looked if it was full.
The place really feels like a movie set if you see it from the top of the temple gallery.
The Jain Temple is really huge and has elaborate art carvings all over the walls.
It's multi storey temple with a complete built on top of another temple.
The area around is so much peaceful, you spend hours there. Greenery inside the temple compound is very impressive.

Amar Sagar Lake, located about 7 km towards the western outskirts of Jaisalmer, is a lake cum oasis lying adjacent to the Amar Singh Palace. The palace itself was built in the 17 th century. The complex that includes the palace and the lake is also home to several ponds and wells, along with an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Numerous figureheads of animals carved in stone surround the lake, and according to legends, these carved figureheads are supposed to be protectors of the royal family. Haveli is in the premises of Jaisalmer Fort. Un haveli con mucha historia. Los propietarios todavía intentan cuidar lo que fue en su momento una residencia de alta alcurnia con un gran pasado. Yes, you get real Bhaang Lassi here and it's legal. They have been selling Bhaang Lassi here from the 50 years. We tried Dry Fruit Lassi at Rs. 300 and Normal Lassi at Rs. 150. There was a good nice buzz after we had it and it lasted for quite sometime. Do try it if you are keen on, and want to have a good time.

We had the experience of a lifetime on our 2 night camel safari. The camel riding was so fun, and the camels are really well looked after. The food was great and cooked with love, and sleeping under the stars secluded in the desert was something everyone should experience in their life. But the real highlight was meeting amazing fellow travelers and the incredible guides. Jeetu, Nepal, Abhay, Mahavid and Michael were absolutely outstanding and made the trip so special with their singing, stories and jokes. They charge Rs. 50 per person if you want to carry cell-phone or camera. However, the holy men in the temple pressure you for money dispite paying 250ru as a tourist to visit. It's incredible saddening to be told to take a picture of monk posing for the camera, then to be pressured for a 'donation' afterwards.
They intentionally leave a single 100rupee notes on the flame ritual tray to suggest that should be a reasonable offering.
When what I offered was rejected for not being enough, the said holy man then took out a wad of cash from his pocket to give change for a larger note.
The whole experience felt transactional, dishonest and disgracful towards the religion, place of worship and the rituals themselves.
