I booked the Garden Room private dining for just us 2 and the hotel made it really intimate and romantic. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and we enjoyed some refreshing cocktails that the bar staff recommended. The room was clean and the powerful shower was enjoyable. The library is a really relaxing place to enjoy a book and a coffee with some natural light. The car park is hard to spot off the main road, make sure to ask for a parking reservation when you book. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and I want to say a big thank you to everyone at the hotel for making it seamless. Thank you to Emily who helped me book and make all the special arrangements and thank you to the restaurant manager and our waiter who made our evening special and one we will never forget.

The service here was top notch starting right when we walked in. We got help with our bags, had a very easy check in, and was kindly shown around the property. The staff were so attentive our entire stay, making the experience really lovely. The room was very clean and updated, but it was VERY small. The restaurant was delicious, and made alterations to menu items to fit dietary needs without a fuss. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet and homey, and our sleep was amazing while here. The location is fine, good if you’d like to be a bit far from the hustle and bustle, but if you’re not keen on walking to your destination from the get go, you might want to stay somewhere closer to the city centre. Overall this stay was very pleasant, but the room size and distance would knock half a star off from it being flawless.

There was just a lack of ease that made it feel less luxurious than other hotels of the same caliber. The rooms were wonderful, though. Starting with the positives, the hotel overall is very cool and unique. The staff are pleasant enough, but the young lad that worked behind the bar this weekend was particularly great. Now to the negatives. The hotel is extremely overpriced. Rooms are basic, parking and breakfast are both extra. Our car was moved 4 separate times during our 2 night stay. There were building works going on which we were not told about which took up some of the car park and caused chaos for those trying to come and go - the works were also going on right outside our window so we had to keep the shutters closed the entire time and be woken up early both mornings from the noise. Our room was also next to a stairwell which was being used through all hours of the night so a restful sleep was out of the question. In our particular room, the mirror was dirty and rusted and the bath was literally crumbling. TLDR; overpriced, noisy and needs some TLC.

The food we ordered to the room was also delicious, would recommend the restaurant! Unfortunately though the room was sub-par, quite shabby with trim broken off the skirting boards, the seat & table were both tattered & damaged, the shower screen wasn't fully attached at the top, and lastly the bathroom smelt like urine. We had purposely not booked a cell room as I didn't like the idea, however we were "Upgraded" for free, totally not worth it. If we weren't in such a rush to get to our event I would have asked to change rooms, but unfortunately this was not possible due to time constraints. All in, great location for a quick stay but unfortunately we won't be coming back.

We needed to be at a service in the chapel in neighbouring Merton College so were pleased to be there on a Sunday when the hotel is more affordable than on other nights. A named reserved parking space was a nice touch in a location where a parking space is as rare as a unicorn. The room was luxurious. The staff are highly attentive - nothing was too much trouble. The guest lounge was handy for us to share an evening drink with friends. Breakfast in Quod was a treat - our £190 room came with a £50 food voucher which isn’t bad value for such a high end hotel. This is probably the best hotel in central Oxford and we loved it. It’s a bit out of our price range at busier times, but I hope to be back for a special occasion or maybe another more affordable Sunday night stay. And thank you again to the excellent staff.

From the moment we arrived, with a clearly marked parking space ready for us, the service was attentive and helpful throughout our brief stay. We were put into what must have been their tiniest room, which was cramped, with the TV stand nearly toppling over. This bore no resemblance to the rooms in the photos for the type of room we booked, all of which appear to be larger, with more light and much better kept. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station and a few mins walk from The Covered Market and central locations. We booked The Vicarage Suite and whilst it was a large, beautiful room, there were certain things that just didn't meet requirements. Firstly, the staff on reception are very neutral. Not impolite or rude but certainly not particularly welcoming. We were told on arrival our room did not include breakfast which was odd as it did say on our booking it did. Rather than argue we decided to pay extra (£20 per person) for one mornings worth. It is an absolute rip off. Yet again, we were given a list of what breakfast did not include such as hot food. We wouldn't have minded at all as continental breakfasts can be fantastic but the selection was incredibly poor. Just a loaf of bread, a few cold pastries and 1 choice of cheese and meat. You would be better off going elsewhere for breakfast. The room itself looked lovely and was clean enough. However the mattress was really hard and neither myself or husband slept well. It is also a noisy hotel. I was awoken several times in the night to what I'm assuming was a member of staff or other guests coming and going. Not only this but the room smelt bad, as if the drains needed cleaning out which meant we had to leave the window open to constantly air out the room. There is a coffee machine in the room which the cups do not fit under so was a completely pointless addition. Whilst we were out it was clear housekeeping had been in as tea/coffee bits had been refilled but they did not bother making the bed or making up the bathroom. I would not come back again and feel like we've been 'had'. It is incredibly expensive for what it is and we left feeling disappointed.

The staff do not seem to enjoy working there. Things like simply asking to change your table at breakfast gives you weird uncomfortable silence and huffs&puffs. It’s almost as if the staff are serving you for free and doing you a favor. There is no sense of striving to keep you comfortable. One serviceman grabbed plates off our table 20 minutes before closing without saying a word or asking if we’re done. 4. The basement level smells like pungent sewage, especially in the gym. 5. Throughout the entire process, we did not feel even a trace of enthusiasm or empathy from the hotel staff. The room was nice and clean and modern. The service from all of the staff that we met warm and welcoming. The meal on Saturday night in the restaurant was very nice but terribly slow to arrive. I came to enjoy that short walk as I explored for the day and then came back to rest. The staff are lovely, the cafe food is delicious and it is open until 11 pm for food and libations. We travelled by train to Oxford and it was perfect for us. We had issues with literally every part of our stay, the rooms were dirty and had plug sockets that didn't work, the staff were confrontational, the cleaners left your towels on an air con unit out side for hours before putting them in your rooms, the food was cold and bland. They take £150 refundable deposit on top of the room fee but don't tell you till you get there. They took payment twice for the room because they "made a mistake". The pictures online don't match the actuall place. But the best bits are that you do not get a duvet.... yep just a sheet and a blanket... and the receptionist is also your waitress, the cafe is also the reception which is just weird. Parking was a joke, it cost a fortune and you were wedged between a brickwall and the footpath, just hoping your car wasn't scratched or given a parking ticket. There was more issues as well but who has the time to keep writing. Would never stay again despite getting a parcial refund.

A really lovely hotel. The staff are lovely and so is the food. We stayed for a weekend in September 2025. Only 2 nights, but the rooms were lovely and clean, the shower facilities were great and the bed comfortable. In the restaurant the staff were friendly and efficient. One of the waitresses was called Wendy. She was very helpful. Even when we saw her training a new waitress her manner was very professional and kind. It seemed like a nice place to work and this was reflected in the atmosphere. We will come back. This hotel is just outside Oxford town. The bus stop is a short walk. The bus comes regularly and it is a short ride. The reception staff are welcoming and approachable. The breakfast staff I’m not to sure about, it would be nice to be treated in the morning with a smile and a hello. Th breakfast is standard, if your a meat eater its great but feel it could do better with a vegetarian option for full English. Parking is great, no extra cost which is a huge bonus.

This is a converted town house as the name suggests. Some of the rooms are on the main road however this didn't keep me awake. This place is close to several bus stops going almost anywhere in Oxford and is literally on the footstep to the whole city. The venue is nice and warm for the weather. I didn’t use the restaurant but at the time I went it was deserted. There are many coffee shops and local cafes in the area and I would normally choose these. The room is comfortable: can’t say I’m happy with the carpet floor especially as I have asthma and I’m not sure how well cleaned these are yearly… The bathroom floor was worse. But I’ll be content with my room: it was clean (bug free!), in a quiet spot, and the bed was just cleaned up daily. There was enough space for two people in my room and two small suitcases. On my first night I struggled with the TV. As basic as it was, I was not getting it to respond to my Fire TV Stick. I called someone from reception (do not remember her name) to help and even though she didn’t know what she was doing, she was able to get it to work! Note: underneath the TV are two extra HDMI cables. I felt safe and secure in the hotel. The 4th floor, where I stayed, had a very creaky landing door that was directly in front of a room. I think that should be sorted out especially for the sake of someone staying in that room! As I mentioned earlier, the hotel is on the footstep of the city and next to a huge shopping mall, Westgate Oxford. There are tons of places to eat and drink within walking distance. Note: If you are given two key cards, one to power the room and one to take with you, ensure you remove the extra key card that is supplying power from the dock before leaving your room. It cost me £108 for one night so that's above average and seeing as I was only in hotel from 7pm till 9am next morning price seemed excessive for a basic room. Restaurant, had a starter of nachos which was incredibly disappointing my advice dont bother! I was told there was no gammon for the mixed grill and would be compensated with extra something else, I was not but still had to pay an extra £4 for the lacking grill. Breakfast was sufficient. Service/staff were amazing i have no complaints at all there. Parking: cost me £12 to park over night. I was also working in Oxford for the next day so my total costs for paking in a 20 hour period came to £37......Oxford is overly charging people for greed. Can I suggest the hotel comes to an arrangement with a local Car park or lose customers. Total hotel cost, food and parking for 14 hours.....£165

Walls were in a need of repaint as it looked dirty. No views as the window was a skylight but the blinds were blackout which was good for sleep. Air con was adjustable which was good for the weather. Bed was extremely comfy. Didn't use the tea room but it looked nice and had a coffee machine with plenty options. Heard minimal noise from the other rooms.

Was disappointed though on a few counts, hence the 3 stars. Starting off with the first was my email that said I'd receive check in instructions on the morning of the booking date, I did not. The phone number in the email I tried 3 times to no answer. The check in instructions did finally arrive but not when specified ( in the afternoon) we live 3 hours away so this wasn't ideal. Not a massive problem I know but put doubt in my mind about how contactable they would be if there had been a problem being as nobody answered the phone. As stated before the room was actually okay, nice in many respects, and the communal canteen was a nice touch, offering a fridge and cooking facility's amongst tables to sit at. Few details in the room (room 8) though which I would like to address, are as follows, the shower drain was partially clogged, shower tray ended up like a bath! One of the blinds in the roof windows had come out of it's runners and could not be operated. The main window blind broken so was constantly dark. Stairwell and corridors had quite a fusty unpleasant aroma to them. Alleyway to access to room was down an alley where people seem to congregate at night which for some I suspect may be intimidating. In summary the facilities are good, great location, nice enough, rustic yet contemporary room, cleanliness wasn't an issue but let down by the points I have mentioned. Will probably not return.

Absolutely awful. Massively overpriced. The entrance was through a back door located down a dingy alleyway right next to a taxi rank/betting shop. Hallway was dirty, carpet was ripped and it stank to high heaven! Aircon didn’t work, Room was tiny, sheets had stains, towels had stains. The “executive lounge” that is apparently stocked with a variety of complimentary snacks and soft drinks, is nothing but a room with a fridge and bottled water. No hot water, had to call the receptionist who didn’t call back but rather sent a text to say it ‘should’ be working in 20minutes. Had to open windows as again, no air con. Then of course not a good nights sleep due to the noise from the taxi rank below. It was honestly shocking and HUGELY different than advertised on the website. I would avoid air b&b trying to disguise itself as a beautiful, artistic hotel.
