I honestly think the staff really make the place. The grounds are beautiful too and I love the art incorporated into the property but the staff goes above and beyond about the smallest things. No detail is left unturned and they treat you like family. Breakfast was incredible every morning and so was the food in the rest of the hotel. It also felt reasonably priced which is nice as you rarely get that at a nice hotel. Special shoutout to Dina and Giannis at the bar as well as the woman who helps giannis whose name is escaping me. The only thing that I’d potentially change is the room didn’t necessarily feel like a 5 star hotel room, it was nice and I was happy just didn’t give the 5 star element, everything else was perfect though and I’d return in a heartbeat!

The protected lagoon is a tranquil setting for relaxation. The room was simply furnished but nice. Negatives - no hot water the first day. It was fixed immediately but I still had to endure a cold shower. Couch is pretty uncomfortable and no smart TV to stream shows. Service - for a 5 star resort I did not feel like the service was up to par. We had to ask for things multiple times, were either rushed or left waiting for someone to come by. Das ganze Personal war während unseres Aufgenthaltes insgesamt immer überwiegend freundlich und zuvorkommend. Marianna von der Gästebetreuung gehört hier ebenfalls noch positiv hervorgehoben. I give this hotel 5 stars for room, service, location and food. The hotel shows signs of having been repainted recently, and all the public areas were clean, tidy and completely intact (no chips, scars or marks). The room was great and was cleaned and had towels replaced every day. The room had a small balcony with a clothes rack. The bathroom was a little on the small side, but perfectly acceptable and useable. The only negative that comes to mind is that the hotel is definitely not on one level, and so not a destination for anyone that has trouble with stairs. The staff were without exception very friendly and very helpful, to point where having arrived at around 11pm, they has set aside a plate of salad and cold meats. The location is excellent; being a 10 to 15 minute amble down to the harbour / busy area. The first part of the walk is up a fairly shallow hill. Lots of traffic to deal with, but all vehicles seem to give way to pedestrians. The local beach is lovely. There are lots and lots of restaurants, but we could only find 10 or so bars in the area, I do however recommend the Karaoke in the Irish bar. The dining area at the hotel is self-service. The hot food is served in heated trays, and the chilled from large chilled serving fridges. It's not a-la-carte restaurant quality food, but I left the dining area every day, and regardless of breakfast, lunch or dinner, having had a tasty and very satisfying meal. There was hot and more continental breakfasts, hot and cold lunch and dinner. Some delicious Greek salads and some tasty desserts. All in all, I can't recommend the Apollon enough as a higher end 3 star (more like 4). PS: The WIFI was great in the lobby, bar and dining area, but a little weak in some parts of the room.

We’ve stayed here for a week. It’s right by 2 beaches, one sand and one stone. There’s multiple pools too. The views are absolutely stunning. The staff here are great. There is a slight hill up to the hotel but we didn’t find this a problem. The only slight room for improvement would be the food. It was nice but sometimes the salad was dry and the meals didn’t change much over the week. The restaurant staff were lovely though, hard-working, and they catered really well for us with our toddler. Whilst there’s lots of people here, we’ve found where our room is so peaceful.

Photos shown probably by owners are totally false, none of the rooms look like that. You walk into the lobby/reception area and think this looks nice that's where it ends. The 1st red flag was the key, actual key to get into your room, which modern hotels have keys anymore. The hotel is dated. The 1st room we were shown to was too small, dark and dingy, disgusting bathroom. The next room we were shown was marginally better but this is not a 4 star hotel, 2-3 at best. The bathroom was too small, was dirty and smelly. What they don't show you in the pictures is the sign on the toilet telling you not to put toilet tissue down the toilet but in the bin next to it absolutely disgusting. Old fashioned hair dryer like something from the 50's totally useless. The furniture was naff and dated. Not enough space to put our clothes for a 10 day stay. No constant hot running water so could only take a shower certain times of the day. No drinking water on offer not even on arrival had to constantly buy our own. The food was boring, bland and cold most of the time. The evening entertainment was none existing, some old guy usually singing terribly on a electric organ. Location was terrible miles from best bits of Agios Nicolas and a constant hike up a steep slope to get to the hotel. Probably one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The only good thing about this hotel was the view. It's a very strange horrible hotel. Avoid at all costs.

It doesn’t line up with the hotel being 5* more 4* - Disappointed that we were only allowed to eat in the other restaurants 3 times- despite this not being disclosed. We thought we could eat there whenever. They also claimed to be fully booked restaurants but were never full. - Mini fridge was extra to be restocked apart from water which was at no extra cost (but this had to be requested) and was never restocked on its own. - Actual spa & gym with cold pool, sauna and steam room needs maintenance. Steam room is never hot and sauna is always out of water, therefore we always brought water bottles with us. Tiles coming off bottom of pool in cold pool. Not big enough facilities for a large resort. Gym is good but equipment is old and needs newer equipment. Dirty yoga mats. - Towel station: Towel station doesn’t open till 10am but most people are already out by then. My suggestion is that it opens earlier. - Closed off part: 1 restaurant and two bars were closed as we went in October. This was not made aware to us and we were disappointed that we didn’t get to go to one of the restaurants we were looking forward to. Overall, I would recommend this as a family resort but not for couples. We would say it is 4/5 stars BUT we would not return as the food is simply not up to scratch.

The hotel was beautiful in every way. Spotlessly clean in every area. The breakfast was superb with an incredible array of different foods, hot and cold, absolutely brilliant. All the staff throughout the hotel were helpful and kind as was Dimitris the hotel manager. Most helpful and polite in every way. We paid for an upgrade to a superior room and that is what we were given. In the front with an amazing view of the sea and across to the town. Well worth the extra money. The bedding changed daily! crisp white sheets, soft white towels in the bathroom, I cannot write highly enough for this beautiful gem of a hotel. 2 freshwater pools and plenty of beds around each one. Also the lovely little beach with umbrellas is literally a 5 minute walk across the road (not a busy road either) Agias Nicholas town is great too with plenty of fabulous eating places, all good. 15 to 20 minutes walk from the hotel or just a few euros in a taxi. The receptionist phoned a taxi each time and it arrived within a few minutes, excellent service. Fabulous and thank you, we will definitely be coming again next year.

The hotel checked us in 4 hours early and upgraded our bungalow to a room to one which included a steam room and jacuzzi. If one is looking for the most modern of hotels this is not it. There were some features of the room that were a little dated, CD player and safe, and could have done with a few USB charging ports, but these details are relatively minor for a leisure traveller. The gym is clearly an old dance studio with decent equipment and lovely staff (fine for a down week) but could do with updating and new equipment that is more appropriate (e.g. pull up bars and a bench) and more of a multi gym. The setting is beautiful along the beach with different pools and stretches of beach to explore. They assign you your loungers to prevent travellers from stealing them first thing in the morning. The food was of an extremely high standard throughout, and the town is only a short walk away (15 mins) if one wants local cuisine. The breakfast is varied and consistently good. Do get up earlier for tables with a perfect view in the shade (they are in demand!). The staff make your stay pretty effortless, and is customary for a five star hotel but it was seamless, friendly and gentle throughout. We want to pay a special thanks to Alexandra the gym instructor who ran excellent classes. There are minor details that could do with refinement to make it ideal for a gym bunny determined to do work on holiday, but if you just want to relax and enjoy the view and food and have a great view at a reasonable price you will get great value here. We stayed in this hotel during the shoulder season when it was 5 days from closing down for the season. They upgraded us from a 1 bedroom suite to a 2 bedroom suite. It was incredible. I was blown away with the fantastic private pool, the balcony view and the amazing room. They also had air condition that worked really well. Keep in mind, I was there end of October so the AC was not really needed. I found the staff extremely helpful. The breakfast was good. Not anything super amazing, but plentiful and full of variety. Plus I could make my own tea which made me happy. The bottle of wine they gave us was delicious. Their olives were divine. The restaurant was okay for some food and really good for some dishes. The Yacht club food was absolutely fabulous for me. Their beach was lovely and since there was no one there in the morning until 10:30 AM, I felt like I was on a private beach. They have a dive shop and the water is perfectly clear. I really enjoyed my time here and I have to remind people the timing. End of October is wonderful of you can handle the cold.

Part of at least a some interconnected resorts, especially Elounda Bay Resort next door (where the internal dive shop Cretas Happy Divers is located, about 8 minutes walk from the palace). The staff were overly accomodating! They were willing to try and help with whatever. The facilities and amenities were good. LOTS of options for food and drink, leasure and pools, beach, and more. The seaside location you cant complain about either! Great restaurants (well highly rated) within close walk and some diverse-ish shopping a little past that. Vintage's food was amazing! Check them out at least once and early on if you are having a stay. Bout 1 hour 15 minutes drive from Herkalion Airport. Rental cars are MUCH cheaper than airport transfer through the resort or otherwise, 1 week car rental was half what one way transport to or from the airport would cost! We had the half-board, the dinners were great as well. HUGE buffet, too much to try, semi-themed from day to day making sure to keep some basics from the core patronage basic foods between Italy, Germany, and UK that we could pick out. The breakfast was equally as large, and followed somewhat the same pattern, but more consistent in the offerings. Note: unlike dinner drinks, breakfast drinks INCLUDING coffee are free, included. After our first dinner we assumed delivered coffee came with a charge, last morning we found out if was a flase assumption. Lucky we had a coffee machine in the room to get us going before diving or excursions. The stuff in the room behind the doors and in the fridge, not free. Dig a minute and you will find the steep in room prices. Walk 8 minutes down the road. If you are still reading this, we were there for 7 days mid-Oct 2025. They closed for the season after October so the crowds theoretically were winding down with the season termination, weather changing and time of the year.
