It offers complimentary wine (vouchers) upon check-in and a valet service for parking. My room offered plenty of space (and entryway, full-size bathroom, and coat room) with beautiful views of the Byward market. The lighting options were pleasant and offered my partner several different opportunities to take photos for Instagram under different conditions. The service was attentive and pleasant but lacked charm. Now for the "not great" lol The room was too hot. The thermostat says 17 degrees but it feels like 20+ at all times. Although you can open a windows, it is fall after all, but have fun trying to sleep with all the sirens and noise of a downtown on the weekend. The room is very obviously stripped down, with the minibar devoid of any paid options, and only 2 complimentary water bottles, despite hosting wine glasses and an opener. Who hurt you, Andaz? The coffee selection for the lowest base keurig coffee are also the cheapest possible options: its not terrible, but definitely doesn't fit the upscale price and attempted atmosphere. Our toilet seat is cracked and broken. Honestly, we didnt even notice until it pinched my partner in the morning. Not very upscale. The walls and furniture are covered in marks. Its not a new hotel, its used and enjoyed, but again Andaz has upscale pricing so it really diminishes the feeling of value for money. Construction! Apparently there's still construction right beside the Andaz. Nobody told us anything. It's not showing on their website, but apparently it's bad enough that they left ear plugs in the room to help us sleep. So upscale. The rooftop lounge. Honestly, other than the oddly high pricing on some non-alcoholic items, its a nice space with very attentive staff. What I didn't enjoy was the below-mediocre DJ playing way too loud. It's not a nightclub, and if it wants to be a nightclub, hire better DJs. Bad music, bad mixing, and high volume do not work together. Overall, I had a nice experience but I don't think its worth the price. If my work booked me a room here on business, I'd be happy, but I would never pay my own money to stay here again.

If you get a text and email that mentions your name and this hotel to check in, it most likely is legitimate. This isn't communicated anywhere before hand. Doing the pre check in made the in-person process take less than a minute. I did face a few issues with the room I stayed in (room 515), such as the light by the desk didn't turn on, and the fridge wasn't cold. After talking with the front desk about these, they did get the fridge working, but the light never worked my entire stay. There are a few things I wish they would change to improve the room, but I understand these would require the room being renovated. Such as a light inside the closet (where the safe is), as currently a flashlight is required to see inside there. The switches to turn on the lights beside the bed require bending over and almost going behind the dresser (would be nicer if the switch was easy to access on top of the dresser), there is also a small dent where the swing bar deadbolt reaches the wall (in the unlocked position). There is also only one drawer, but plenty of otherwise open spaces to put clothing. The black-out curtains did work well (so well in fact, I couldn't tell when it was midnight or 9am). The location could not be better - located in the core of downtown and just a short walk away from Parliament, the Byward Market, Elgin Street, parks and retail stores. Having direct access to Rideau Shopping Centre from the hotel (without having to even exit the hotel) was convenient and practical. The staff were friendly, the hotel is clean/modern, the buffet breakfast is exceptional, and the room was spacious and comfortable with an amazing view of the city. When I made my reservation, I asked for a room on a higher floor, and the check-in staff were kind enough to give me one along with free breakfast. No hello, no how was your drive, no welcome to the hotel. As soon as you say you will self park they disappear and no help with baggage. Outside the hotel in front of the front doors were many smokers and at no time did anyone from the hotel direct them to the smoking area ( which is not even 9 meters from the door) so we had to walk through a giant smoke screen to get in. We were in the executive level and the breakfast buffet that ends at 10:30 was cleared out at 10:15. The « honor » bar is not an honor system, just locked so nothing available. The executive level adds no extra value so is not worth any additional charge. The breakfast platters that we received were cold and tasted like they were sitting at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Although there is a bar/snack area near the pool and spas they were closed so no drinks or snacks. There was a 7 year old in the hot tub with no parents to be seen and totally out of sight of the lifeguards because they are in a plastic shelter out of view from the hot tub and mostly just talk amongst themselves. The room wasn’t made up until we called the third day we were there. No pressure from the shower. Quite disappointed in our stay and do not consider this hotel as anything more than 3 stars. I will say it felt safe in a part of town that can be sketchy. The rooms are quiet & small but very clean. We had two twin beds in the room and each bed had two thin pillows. The showerhead provided a good amount of water pressure. The TV was good - with lots of different channels. While my girlfriend slept in I went to three different coffee shops, walked last Parliament, and cruised back through downtown, all in under an hour I'll recommend everyone to stay here, and will make sure to stay here again if I'm ever back in Ottawa!

Considering it was our anniversary I thought maybe they were taking longer to do our room to perfection; however they did not even wish us a happy anniversary let alone put waste bags in the garbage cans in our room.. In the morning we decided to go to the buffet style breakfast at the hotels restaurant, very expensive considering we felt rushed out, we sat down with our one plate of food and the bill was brought to us (felt like they wanted us to eat and leave) so we did. So disappointing and happy to be back at home now. I stripped the bedding/ towels/ folded the tp for the hotel so hopefully the next guests can get in their room on time. Giving 2 stars because the bed was comfortable and the cookie we received (once we finally checked in) was delicious.

Stayed here to try something new and ended up leaving to go to the Delta City Center. The list of issues is long, but top of the list - There is a large party room on the 2nd floor, during Holiday season if your on the 4th floor it will be very loud until past midnight. We are talking people were calling bylaw because of how loud it was (in Ottawa they cannot do anything about a hotel, but told us they got a number of calls). First night was till 10-11PM, second was past midnight. - A huge selling point is the pool/spa and its a complete joke. You have to walk to the gym (far side of 2nd floor past the party rooms) , through the gym, over a cat walk to another building, and down an elevator to get to a very dated pool. Are no towels so back to gym check in if you need those, it also closes at 9:45pm, even on weekends. At some point on this journey they just gave up on upkeep, the pool looks the same as a $90 a night hotel I stayed in the day before - For some reason they let food and garbage build up in the hallways, not once did I go from my room to the elevator (and even in the elevator) and was not something, be it a luggage cart, room service, or even 4 bags of half eaten food, that one had a smell. - Staff here just seems absolutely miserable, check in was miserable, you call down they don't pick up (took 6 calls to get a sink fixed), half of them don't wear name tags so no idea if they actually work there, and they all look like they want to cry. It takes multiple elevator rides to get from one place to the other because elevators are not connected to all floors, and common dining areas are set up so close together it's hard to walk through even without mobility aids. Staff were very nice and helpful, and the food is outrageously expensive when compared to similar hotels, and definitely not the best I've had. I attended a conference there, and the water provided was room temperature water gallons with camping pumps on them which sometimes barely worked. I'm not a fancy hotel person and would not have gone there if the conference I was attending was taking place elsewhere, but for how expensive things were at a hotel more than 30 min of driving away from the city, this felt extremely subpar for the expense. Myself and 2 colleagues were booked separate rooms. Our employer booked up accessibility rooms as they were cheaper. When I arrived, I brought my bag to my room and noted the bathroom mirror and make up mirror were both circular and 4 feet off the ground and I couldn’t see my face in them. They were not adjustable in height. The counter height was lower to accommodate a wheelchair. Immediately outside the bathroom was an extremely narrow hallway to get to the bed. But he got a mirror from counter to ceiling. So at least he was allowed to see his face while shaving all week. Here’s the thing - apparently someone in a wheelchair AND an Able bodied person can’t share a room ? Also why does it cost MORE for a basic standard room ? Isn’t this kind of reverse discrimination ? Just put a rectangle mirror in every room. Or make the mirrors adjustable. Not all people who need an accessible room are in wheelchair. There are different types of disabilities. Excellent, professional, but friendly, staff. Very helpfull with conducting my thing i had to do next day. Quiet, clean, nice big rooms, nice staff and very friendly & helpfull cleaning staff. Was up early ( proffesional deformation ) and talked to night staff present, fresh coffee available at 4 AM, warm breakfast available at 6 AM. Travel to ST. Laurent mall easy, VIA and O- Train easy accessable at Tremblay station ( 10 min walk from hotel ). Pool open at 6 AM , wonderfull and clean. Can definitely recommend, for leisure or business. Car parking available on courtesy hotel ( no charge )

There are some 'PROS' - the location is excellent, the pool and hot tub were clean - although the pool is incredibly cold. The size of the rooms are nice for a family - lots of room to spread out. But the sauna worked very well and I think the rooms prices are reflected in the age of the hotel. I felt the prices were very fair for the location and size of the room. I would stay there again. The staff are very helpful and the location is a short walk to a lot of sites, shopping, and food options. The area felt very safe at all times including a wobbly walk home later at night. There is no hotel parking but they have options nearby. The room was unique in how the shower looks into the main space and visaversa. It is frosted glass but that only protects you much. The closet was a bit of a treasure hunt and there are no drawers to lay out any clothes outside your suitcase. It was a large room though and the bed was comfortable. There is a Nespresso machine with pods for you to use. That was a nice touch. The hotel was busy but also very quiet. My room was at the end of the hall and I never heard anything from any other guest. The lobby has a nice little coffee shop/bar. Be sure to ask how much things are because two late night (probably not needed) glasses of house wine set me back $40 with tip. The hotel sends you a link before arrival so you can set up your account and check out was super easy. Overall I would ABSOLUTELY visit Ottawa again but with more time. I would also stay at this hotel again.

We went out shopping and returned and yet again it smelled horrible and we stayed right in the room next to this awful smell. I went down and told front desk again but this time notified her of where it was coming from and told her the garbage needed to be changed she was giving me the side eye as if to be annoyed by my request to change it, she told me she was going to go change it right then. Fast forward a few hours later we went down to get some treats and the staffing had changed on our way down we noticed the horrible smell again so told front desk again about this and he went up right away and changed the garbage this was 8 hours later and told me it was "FISH" a dead fish in this garbage bag, I can't believe that after all the times I went down to complain of this horrendous smell she didn't take me serious enough to go and change this bag yet made us suffer until staff change when we finally met a great gentleman who takes customer service much more serious and with greater pride. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, the breakfast in the a.m is not that great with very few options, and we most definitely will never return to this location as I have never in my life felt more disgusted in the lack of care from the agent at the front. If anyone has smelled a dead fish in a hot garbage bag just imagine what we were forced to smell from the time we arrived at 4:30 til 12 am when finally someone did his job to help us out, he deserves a medal and a raise for not only doing his job but also hers because she's too lazy to walk a few steps to the elevator to grab the raunchy bag!!!!

I was lied to on the phone which i was told the pool and hot tub are working and open and when i got there i found out the hot tub wasn’t working for awhile. I actually booked this hotel for the hot tub and pool hours as it is the only one that it is open from 7-1030 . Every other hotel was earlier. So this was very deceiving. The breakfast is great and the rooms are very quiet and comfortable. Staff is never around at the front desk and my cards got deactivated many times which was annoying. The gentleman who came to tell us the pool was closed was extremely rude and treated us like a child. Also if you make up the room why does the staff not throw out the garbage and recycling that is in the garbage bins? For the shower the water pressure sucks and so does the temperature. You will not get a super hot shower or any pressure.
