The common areas are quite nice and the employees I encountered were all friendly and helpful, especially the valet staff. A slight room upgrade was offered as a Bonvoy Platinum member. Beyond that, the room was very rough around the edges. The bathroom was in desperate need of an update, did not have a locking door, and the room furniture was in poor condition. I had a room with two beds but it was too small, making use of the closet difficult. Lack of a club lounge is a big negative. I used breakfast coupons as my Platinum perk, but would have preferred more options that a lounge allows.

Roman and Claudine at the front were fantastic. They are truly an asset to your team. They were friendly, welcoming, accommodating and went above and beyond for us. In my 45 years of life (and staying in hotels all over the world) I don't think I have ever been treated as kindly and enthusiastically as I was that night. The room was clean and comfortable. The men working the valet area were chock full of ideas for dinner and where we should go. Even though we stayed for less than 24 hours it was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. Thank you for making our anniversary weekend so special. I became a Hilton Rewards member and we will definitely be back!

I booked 2 1-King Bed rooms, one for myself and my husband and one for my brother as I have the Hilton Amex and gold status, which I know doesn’t mean much but should mean something and wanted it all on one account. I felt things just weren’t explained well at check in as well as not informing us of amenities like if there was morning coffee or where the gym and pool were located. This is to say that the entire welcome felt quite cold and rushed and not at all like what I have come to love about Hilton properties. This review mainly pertains to my room. I was upgraded to a street side King Bed Deluxe Room (without asking) and I was asked if I wanted to get the f&b credit or the bonus points. I opted for bonus points. However, the other room was not upgraded (not that it needed to be, I know it's not a requirement) but it appears that room was given the f&b credit, which we did not use as I assumed both rooms under my name would get the bonus points instead. It just felt like the whole second room was an afterthought to them and there was poor communication. My room was spacious but HOT, it was 76° on the thermostat when I entered the room. The mini fridge was also quite warm. I turned the AC down and cranked the fridge temp, the fridge cooled but the room stayed quite warm the entire night. My brother had the same complaint about having a warm room. His room and floor smelled like cigarette smoke and we did let the front desk almost immediately, I was only told “we will note it”, no apology, no offer to move rooms. Disappointed. For my room, the bed was quite hard and the pillows too soft and floppy. It hurt my neck and shoulders a lot. Our room was on the top floor across from the elevator bank. We are both sandy-blonde, this was not ours. It was very gross and felt as if the shower was just not cleaned after the last guest. The whole room was a bit grimy, dirty chair, old carpet, dirty shower.. When I went to make coffee in the in room coffee maker I found that to also be quite dirty and crusty. At checkout the reception was just as cold as check in. No ask of “how was your stay” just “how do you want your receipt” and off we went for our $30 valet. I did mention the cigarette smoke again, with no apology, again, but wanted to be sure we were not charged a smoking fee. While this hotel is in a great central location, where we felt safe in the neighborhood and in the rooms, with competitive prices and an awards program, we won’t be back when we return to Pasadena next year.

Room was average. Paid about $400 for 2 nights. Had issue with the shower. The water clogged and was unable to move. I did make a complaint at the reception counter and they said they will look into it and never did. Another issue, the shower curtain keeps rolling down the curtain bar because of a lousy bar design. They said they fixed it but just one side yet water is still sipping through the other end. Need to have better lighting system in the shower and also at the faucet. Otherwise no other complaints. But I won't stay here next time. Showering is important first thing in morning and when water don't drain you just feel your day is messed up. Pay a bit more and more options are available with less issue elsewhere.

There are tons of better options at lower rates in Pasadena. I booked a two-week stay here, and approx 3 weeks before my trip, I had to make an adjustment to my booking due to an emergency (shortened my trip by 8 days). When I called the hotel, they said they could not do anything because I booked on Expedia and to contact them. When I contacted them, they said I need to speak to the hotel. So when I got to the hotel at check-in, I explained my issue and they said they would have a manager "look into it" to see if they could provide me a credit. I wasn't even asking for a refund, just a simple credit for a future stay. They came back and said they would not provide a credit for the 8 days I paid for and was not there and that was final. A simple comp/credit for a few days in the future, which I know they CAN absolutely do if they chose to, would have meant a returning customer (who would have probably spent more money with them) and no review online. Instead, they chose to tell me I'm SOL, so they are getting an honest 1-star review and no returning customer. I own multiple businesses in Pasadena and travel there often, so I'll be making sure that neither myself or anyone from my team stay at this hotel. Third, the common spaces are perfect and a serious retreat. Whoever designed them deserves an award. The rooms are really hit and miss. I saw guest after guest come to the front desk inquiring about why their AC wasn’t working and then the front desk staff lie to them claiming they weren’t aware of the AC issues. Some guests had to move hotels because of this. The AC in the gym only works some of the time. The rooms are in disrepair - one of our room had a fridge with missing shelves, a missing bathroom shelf, and a damaged kitchen cabinet. The fire pits outside on the patio do not work. The parking garage does not actually have room for all the guests to park; there is no place to park if you arrive later in the evening like 9pm or later. When we were finally able to move out, the hotel charged me an extra 500.00 without any invoice, bill, or receipt for what the charge is for. The hotel has not responded to me after several inquiries to them for an invoice. This is fraud and a terrible way to treat victims of Eaton fire. This hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott brand and I am extremely disappointed in Marriott for not addressing the issues at this hotel.

Edit to add in response to BW: Everything was brought to the staff attention. How do you think we got a different room if I didn't mention the odor in first room? I asked about hot water / tea and was told you didn't have any, only coffee. That is why I heated up our own water we brought using the microwave. Every issue was reported but only the odor was addressed by giving us a different room. Only got an apology on everything else. It's in an ideal location with no real street noise and I couldn't even tell you if I had neighbors, which means the rooms are pretty soundproof! I will say the bed was a little firm for my liking and the towels had some visible stains, but I still had a great couple nights' sleep and you can always request new linens. Looking forward to returning someday soon!

No one greets at the door on arrival, there's no help with luggage, and no obvious way to use the ramp. We reserved a bi-level lift with patio, arrived at 2pm and were told it wasn't ready. Also, the elite breakfast benefit is limited to a voucher for American breakfast, no choices. At other Marriot brand hotels we've had our choice of anything on the menu (sometimes upto a dollar limit). The room itself was ok but needs more attention to detail. The glass balcony door had paint or vinyl stuck to it from the blackout curtain. There was no reading light, and the lights had cold temperature (bluish) light bulbs. As another reviewer mentioned, there was no soap dish provided and the shower head needed to be descaled. Pluses were that it was clean, towels were nice, bed was clean and comfy, and there were bottles of water provided. Would not go out of my way to stay again but it's an ok option for central Pasadena.

However, we were met with unfriendly and hasty service at check-in. There was no one in line but the front desk was rushing us and was short with us. The hotel had some engineering issues when we checked-in and so they changed our room without telling us until we got there from a King to Two Queens. The service agent said she had “upgraded” us but it was not an upgrade. The room was in a lower floor and if you opened the window curtains you lost all privacy to the room as it looked straight out onto the pool deck and main walkway. Additionally, the bathroom didn’t have a working fan. We went back the next day to request to get into a king for our second night liked we booked and a different front desk agent said she should be able to switch us but to come back as housekeeping wasn’t done. We came back and spoke to a 3rd agent and was met again with short answers and no customer service when we politely explained the situation. We understood it was a busy weekend, but It was disappointing to get two different answers on a room switch within two hours. Separately, we planned to go to the pool during our stay. While we did go, the photos online make the pool look much nicer than it actually was. It definitely was in need of some maintenance and there were a bunch of dead bees in the pool itself. While it was out of the hotels control there was an issue with the room so they had to move us, the whole situation could have been handled in a more courteous way by the Sheraton team. I would rather pay a bit more for my health and comfort. Thank goodness I always think to bring shower shoes. We wore those the whole time. There was one dried blood stains on the sheets. The beds/pillows were very comfortable and the room was clean. It had a little kitchenette with a good size fridge as well as an induction stove top. After viewing all the photos that are online, the place does not look like the photos. Maybe there are some rooms that look that beautiful but ours was not, it wasn’t dirty but it just wasn’t as nice as the online pictures show. Parking is a bear and if you are disabled, well that is too bad. They have very few spots. You have to get there at least 3 hours early just to get in, get food and get merch. They don't have enough places to get merch so be ready to wait in line an hour just to do that. Then there is the fun of finding your seats with staff who have no idea where you are to go and just point. It took us 20 minutes to find our super expensive seats which were really bad. We had a fight break out in front of us and no security was to be found. We had to make them stop ourselves. The place is old, not kept up and it is sad. It used to be nice. I will go back if forced by my grandson because what he says goes and he has plans. I would be happy to never see the place again. The sound is terrible, you can't see and it is too loud. As an amateur enthusiast golfer, It was a very challenging course with excellent views and the greens were well maintained. The golf carts were great, even has Bluetooth enabled to pair your phone and play music through the golf carts speakers which is a nice touch. The navigation was also clutch. Definitely a course for golf lovers. Customer service was excellent overall and we really enjoyed a day of golfing and capped it off with lunch at their club house restaurant. This one venue checks so many impossible boxes. Are you looking for a beautiful indoor/outdoor space with a genuine focus on truly good food? Stop reading and run-do-not-walk to the Fig House. We really wanted to find a venue that had a beautiful outdoor space for a ceremony but that also had an indoor space more unique than your standard ‘hotel ballroom,’ and the Fig House over-delivers on both - the outdoor garden is truly beautiful and the indoor space with its teal walls and gorgeous stained glass is a funky art deco dreamland. It is compact without feeling small - easy to navigate and handicap accessible, and it allows for a great flow during your event, plus they have really colorful lounge furniture that they let you move around (plus air conditioning, plus nice bathrooms, the list goes on). Where this venue really goes above and beyond is the food - Room Forty catering and Pharmacie bar set out very intentionally to be a cut above typical ‘event catering’ and truly they are LA 100 Best Restaurants level. If food is important to you, I cannot stress enough that this is your venue!!! Wedding planning is a stressful process, but communicating with the team at the Fig House (Leti, Kevin, Shauna) was an absolute breeze. They say that they are happy to help you customize the food menu and they are not lying - we threw a lot of crazy ideas at them and they responded to all of them with not only professionalism but such genuine enthusiasm and passion. I am pretty sure I researched every single venue in the SoCal area, and I could not be happier that we went with the Fig House. It made our day so memorable and magical. I stayed in the English Holiday Room which was SO adorable. It was even cuter in person than in the photos. The bed was incredibly cozy, the blackout curtains were on point, they had a wireless charging dock which came in handy because I forgot my AirPod charger at home. The breakfast was phenomenal. The service was perfect (super friendly and available but no hovering that sometimes happens at bnbs) And the atmosphere - oh my gosh, bnb cozy perfection complete with games, tea, wine and pre-chilled water carafes. I wish I could have stayed longer, and will definitely be coming back here for future trips!

This home is lovely, like taking a step into history. So many indulgent amenities like a huge variety of teas and always available coffee, cool water and continental breakfast and snacks in the dining room all day. The hosts are delightful, never overbearing but available in the morning and by text. And the breakfasts were chef prepared and fantastic, like dining out every morning. They encourage the guests to share breakfast together and chat, I'm not normally social that early but we had a lovely time meeting other travelers. Otherwise it's a very quiet place, so cozy! Keep in mind it is a historic old house with all the quirks an old house would have, it is not 'pristine' like a brand new hotel. Make sure your expectations are set (it seems some people don't understand what staying in a home based bed and breakfast is like) and you will love this place as much as we did. It's so close to the south pasadena station so we got here easily from the airport.

We were looking for something more charming than a big-box hotel, and Airbnbs have become too much work quite frankly with all of the “rules” that come with them. Bissell House was absolutely perfect – the owners put so much care and thought into the place. I couldn’t stop taking pictures and videos – the whole place was decorated to perfection and made you feel like you were right at home. The complementary breakfast was also incredible! We had a yogurt parfait and French toast. The service was incredible – we didn’t have to lift a finger. I highly recommend Bissell House. It is well worth the price (which honestly wasn’t bad and is comparable to what hotels are today with all of their added fees). I hope anyone who stays there has as magical a time as we did.

From the moment I stepped through the door, I truly felt at a home away from home! Exploring the beautiful grounds, reading in the library, and relaxing by the pool were all made even better by the plentiful complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks. I felt transported to a storybook world in the midst of the beautiful vintage furnishings of this historic place. The breakfast available every morning is a delicious, light yet satisfying quiche, croissant, and fruit with fresh squeezed orange juice. I almost didn't feel the need to try out other breakfast spots nearby (and there are lot of great ones in Pasadena)! I had the privilege of staying in the Anna Bissell room, spacious yet cozy with the prettiest view. The bed is probably the most comfortable I've slept in outside of my own home. Also, despite there being a terrible heat wave this weekend, the individual AC in each room as well as downstairs kept the place so comfortable. I actually felt so sad to leave this place and will find every excuse to return! Thank you Will and Brian for making me feel so welcomed!
