Kinda weird to get to, but worth driving in circles to find it. The hotel history is a trip. Crystal Chapel is a must see. A glass chapel nestled in the forest, nature’s beauty elevating the spiritual to another level. Christ of the Ozarks is a sight to see, the grounds are beautiful, and the onsite shop is very nice. You may want to see the passion play that takes place there live. Don’t forget to get the tickets if you’re in town and interested! The gates were locked. There were a couple of planes sitting out in a field. I didn't see much of anything else. There are static displays of several well known aircraft on site. The lady I spoke with was very friendly and assured me that the website was safe. We did book for a Wed. we tried to reschedule and it was possible. We just picked a bad week. The staff was very nice and the cabin was clean. The beds were comfy and it was mostly what we expected. We were thinking the cabins would be a little more secluded but you are right on top of your neighbors at this city park. The primitive campers were loud but did quite down after 10. The mini cabins share a porta potty, but at least its a larger ADA compliant one. The bathhouse is very small for the number of sites they have. The women's has 3 showers and 2 toilets and the men's just has one toilet and 2 showers. I got clean, but it was not the best laid out space for sure. It would help a lot to have shelves or somewhere to place things inside and outside the shower stalls. The lake is pretty small; it will take 30 mins to make it all the way around by kayak. It is great they do kayak rentals for those who don't have their own and the price was affordable. We did hike some trails while there and it was fun but we added on an extra 5 miles or so when we took a wrong turn so having the trails clearly marked would help a lot with that. Would be a great day trip but not really a destination if you are looking for a more secluded camping adventure.

The silver lining was that we sat on the balcony for so long, we were able to enjoy the sunset. We ended up paying the bill around 7:30 pm. Ultimately, the view was amazing and I do think that we just happened to have an 'off' experience. The beauty and history of hotel itself, along with the views, was worth the waiting.

Everything was easily accessible - and the walkway was well above water level. We spent 2 hours here. We first watched 2 short videos in the visitor center - about 15 minutes in total (on the history, and on the spring). Then, we took the advice of the ticket man and walked down about 150 stairs to the walkway that parallels the spring. We saw lots of flowers planted in a couple of gardens, the spring, some vintage equipment, a cave-like overhang, wildlife, and then went up an incline back to the level we entered. The gardens are completely welcoming as you pull up. Front desk staff was very friendly and the recommended route was very appreciated. We enjoyed the videos and the history artifacts before heading into the peaceful oasis of water, greenery, and butterflies everywhere! I appreciated the well fed fish and that there is enough growth in the springs and the lagoon to give them a very good living environment (I’ve made a career of raising trout). The entire environment of history mixed with the natural environment and well-placed cultivation was exactly what I needed to feel grounded and peaceful. Thanks for all you do!
