This was probably the highlight of our trip! We spent 6 hours here and recommend planning for a full day here. We bought tickets in advance and took a look at all the exhibits ahead of time so we weren't overwhelmed on where to start. This museum is great for families with kids of all ages. It is super stroller friendly with the ramp to get from one floor to another. You were never more than a tiny walk to a bathroom, great diaper changing areas, water bottle refills, and benches. The Playscapes area was great for our toddler to run around and burn off some energy. All three of our kids loved the outdoor sports exhibit! They played hockey, baseball, football, basketball, took a lap around the mini speedway, and climbed through the tree! This place has it all. The cafeteria was excellent for lunch and has a highchair. Lots of great learning and core memories made here! Cannot recommend enough!

Great immersive museum for children. There’s areas for babies and under 5 and then areas meant for kids 8-9+ and plenty for adults to see as well.
Unfortunately the weather was a bit cold so we missed the outside sports area, but it looked very fun.
The blown glass sculpture and water clock were were impressive, as were the large dinosaurs inside and outside.
Free parking was great, but I wish adult admissions weren’t so expensive or perhaps a discount for second parent to offset the price. It was around $90 for our family of 3.
If we lived closer we’d definitely become members.

The best Children's Museum I've ever been to. They have everything and its hours of fun for every age. We have a membership so we can dig deep in different areas and never feel like we have to do the whole Museum in a day!
Every staff member I have ever seen has a smile on their face and is so helpful and caring. When my 3 year old was throwing a tantrum about leaving, several staff members asked if she was ok and if there was anything they could do to help.

Holy COW this museum was great! Firstly, it is organized chronologically, as opposed to most museums which are organized by genre/concept. This made it feel more akin to a journey through time in Indiana. The exhibits also included miniature images of the state with a pin placed to show where in Indiana each artifact was found! So cool! Certain exhibits, particularly fossils, also included sculpted casts by the information plaques, I'm assuming for blind visitors to "see" the exhibits with their hands. This was very neat as well! The facility was clean and the café (especially the customer service!!!) was great.

This place has amazing grounds. We came when they were closed so we walked around outside. They had at least 80 pieces of art on the outside of their building and around the property. What a great specialty art museum!
We saw Remington's very first bronze in "Attitudes: The West in American Art." (That bronc rider doesn't stand a chance--he's lost one of his stirrups.)
We saw all kinds of contemporary beadwork in "Radical Stitch."
There was tons more Native art upstairs, from the coast to coast up to Alaska and Canadian tribes.
Plus, there were interactive activities that I just had to play with.
We spent about two and a half hours there and explored just about everything.

This museum was PHENOMENAL. The variety of artwork was amazing. We really enjoyed how the museum showcased not only “conventional” native artwork, but also made a point of showing how native artists use traditional techniques with modern materials to highlight issues that they currently face in today’s culture. The museum is a must see if you’re visiting Indianapolis. The children’s area is also packed full of hands-on play opportunities.

Definitely a great place to walk around. They have lots of sculptures and random art pieces around the property. Even without going inside this place has a lot to offer. Their grounds were clean with a peaceful atmosphere. Outback they had multiple sets of corn hole/bags which was a nice thing for the kids. I’m not a art expert but I enjoyed the Eiteljord. Lots of beautiful American Indian artworks, Western paintings (including lesser known Georgia O’Keeffe pieces), sculptures, and other interesting displays. The day we went there was an exhibit of Inuit art which was very interesting. The cafe is pretty good too. Validated parking is a plus.

It’s an amazing experience from start to finish. Be sure and take the golf cart tour. Jason was personable and made the tour awesome! The museum is amazing! So many important cars and the building itself is a work of art. The only negative is they need more refreshments due to the amount of time a visitor may spend there. Be sure and talk to the different staff around the museum, they make the visit more informative and some of them have great stories. I highly recommend visiting here whether you e ever watched a race or not.

Wow! The newly renovated floorplan is incredible. The detail and displays are easy to read and purposeful to the history of the track. I felt like I connected to the history of the track through the museum. The movie displays stimulating and felt like I was there. The new STEM/kids area is really for all ages and does an exceptional job bringing the racing experience to your finger tips. Plan extra time for thus area. And the top floor is a tribute to the best of the best showing off race suits and trophies.
This truly is a key part of American history as well as the commitment to excellence.

WOW. As a lifelong motorsports fan, I've always enjoyed visiting IMS, though it had been years since I visited the museum. After the recent renovation, this is easily the BEST museum for racing fans everywhere. The exhibits are fantastic, it's spotless and well-laid out, and had a large section for interactive activities (including a bank of simulators)!
Best of all though - there was a TON for our young kids to do! A small play area for toddlers, interactive games, and an entire room dedicated to STEAM activities. We got a discount for admission from our local library, but I would have easily paid full price.
The IMS staff were so incredibly nice, and were very helpful and chill, even with our crazy 18-month-old running around yelling "CAR!" constantly.
Well done, IMS! We will be back!

This was one of the coolest displays of race cars Ive ever seen. There is so much to look at. They even have interactive displays to change tires and fuel for a simulated pit stop. Also simulated driving is very real feeling. Lots of amazing race cars over the years are in here. Many trophies rings racing suits and helmets. This is a multi level building with so much racing history. If you have a love for Indy car racing this is a must see.

My husband loved touring the museum and seeing all the cars they have on display. I’m not much of a race fan or car enthusiast but found the history very interesting. We spent about an hour touring all three levels. They were testing on the track while we were there, so no track tours that day, but we plan to come back and actually tour the track via golf cart.

All tours are guided because the museum and building are almost entirely original and not reconstructions!!! This place was absolutely fascinating. Apparently, it's quite the hidden gem since no one that I talked to who lives in Indianapolis even knew it existed. I'm thankful that Google local guides gave it such glowing reviews. I'm going to add my glowing review as well.
The tour guide I had was truly knowledgeable. He took extra time and was really great at answering questions.
So much history has been remarkably well preserved. The architecture was very functional and they explain all of that to you. Some of it is pretty macabre, but my wife is a trauma nurse and said she could've spent another 10 to 20 hours in there, and way more if they'd actually let you read the books.
The autopsy table, the death room, the lecture hall, the chemical production room, so much stuff they did back then is still in use today, it's just much easier to do now.
There are brains and pieces of brains in jars, with the tumors and such clearly described.
It was easy to get to, had plenty of parking, and even a garden of medicinal plants that have little tags by them explaining what they were used for.
Appointments are required. There is a flight of stairs, and they are old stairs with at least one 90 degree turn in them, so probably not wheelchair friendly.
This was definitely worth visiting and I'll go again next time I'm in town if I have enough time to spare. So worth it.

We were in town for a highschool regionals tournament and needed something to do for the team to decompress a little. This was the perfect spot for just that. Excellent history of the US military, from the French-Indian War to the present, told from the point of view of Indiana.
Huge collection of artifacts augmented with videos, dioramas, models, and more. I loved the display comparing the shoes and boots worn by competing armies in WWI, for example.
Nothing really hands-on for kids, though.
Some of the mannequins were worn, with cracks running all over their faces. But most things looked well maintained.
I was impressed with how well the museum showed Black and women involvement in military history, including in the state of Indiana.
Beyond the historical displays, there was a stunning auditorium.
The upstairs was closed when we were there. (They were in the process of repairing a leaking roof.) So we missed seeing what is supposed to be a spectacular shrine up there.
There was no cost to enter, but we left a donation.
There are multiple levels. I did notice lifts for wheelchairs by some of the stairs.
There was plenty of paid on-street parking available nearby.

I was not happy about that, but just bad luck on our part. It is free to visit and I recommend doing so. This is great museum! I learned information about the 9/11 attack on New York, I learned about the soldiers that were underground they have a proper name and I do apologize for not remembering. If someone knows what they're called please let me know. These soldiers were underground in narrow, dark, labyrinths. They even had to be able to load their guns in complete darkness because they only had a flashlight to use. I learned about the meaning as-salaamu alaykum this means "peace be upon you". There's so much to see here and it's free admission. The lady who works at the front desk was very polite, and friendly. This is a great museum. It has many artifacts from Kurt Vonnegut's life and work. But that's not all. There is a focus on the things that mattered to him: freedom of expression, local jazz and being a decent human. There is a small concession area that serves snacks and drinks, including some alcohol (after noon for that) as well as a beautiful balcony with views of downtown. Patrons can even rent books. Each time I go I am delighted by something I didn't notice the time before. They offer multiple educational activities and are activists in the fight against censorship. It is also part of N.A.R.M. This was #1 on my attractions in Indy list & I'm so glad i made it! We made it in for Free Visit Mondays (first Monday of each month) ! What a great exhibit with passionate staff. My mom and I spent a good maybe two hours exploring the 3 levels. I think my favorite memorabilia was his actual type writer that you are allowed to try out. A lot of great art as well. They also have a little bar with coffee and alcohol. I will say though, yall are severely missing an opportunity by not having any merch with "So it goes" on it, and or "everything was beautiful and nothing hurt." Those are my favorite quotes and i was a lil sad there wasnt more of that incorporated. Would've loved a little gravestone tee or sticker with one of those slogans. I did however purchase 3 books and another sticker :) happy to have been able to experience this and it's very appreciated to see the activism and education that this establishment brings. Thank yall so much! Hope it stays open forever!

What a wonderful tribute to one of the best authors that ever lived. Many times I was moved to tears in this, not just from excitement but from the stories shared within the exhibits. Each floor was exciting and new, offering different insight into KV’s life. Lots of awesome items on display, such as his personal typewriter and numerous copies of Cats Cradle in different languages. The gift shop had the best gifts for any KV fan and even some books you don’t see very often. The young woman in the gift shop was super friendly and made our visit seamless. I had the pleasure of visiting in July, and this turned out to be the highlight of my summer! I highly recommend that all Vonnegut fans go out of their way to include this stop in their travels, as it is a true gem. I didn't know what to expect and just really loved the museum. I can tell that they've made an admirable effort to include underrepresented artists. I also loved all of the pairings of different art pieces so that I could really think about the pieces and notice new things. This museum is also perfect for children! What an amazing job they've done at helping students cultivate an interest and connect with art.

This place was super cool! I highly recommend going early because the kids and I went when it first opened and we had the place to ourselves. There’s a ton of gongs, bells, shakers, and various other instruments for the kids to try out. Tons! There’s also a few areas which are roped off but the employees explain to you that the museum is interactive except for the roped off areas. There’s interactive screens which tell you about the instruments and two awesome studio spaces you can drum on and change the venue with buttons. Love, love, loved it here and highly recommend it.

Be prepared to spend about an hour if you're not going to read all of the wall information and about 2 hours if you're going to interact and read and watch absolutely everything there.
Big takeaway for me is the 2 soundproof chambers that have drums in them. Super fun but the drawback is that the seats and setup in general is pretty bad for posture. Otherwise cool room!

It was raining on a Saturday morning, so I decided to take my 4 yr old son to Rhythm! I couldn't have made a better choice. This little enclave of drum heaven is truly a gem. Amidst the hustle & bustle of the mall area, this place is located in the same building as Panera, but has its own unique walkway to reach the center. First and foremost, the staff was courteous from the moment we walked in. The center is designed in a way that leads you around a circle in order to explore the various drum-related activities. Due to this factor, you never feel cramped even though the center is not that large in size. There are more drums located within those walls than I had ever seen in my life, and my son had an amazing time playing the different instruments. Rhythym! provides kids with a safe and creative space to enjoy music.

The tour schedule is spread out so you definitely need to plan your day around a tour time. We hosted our Rehearsal Dinner here in May and could not have been more in love! Amanda made the entire planning process so seamless, the rental fee goes to a great cause, and you have freedom on catering! My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at the Riley home and it was also the place in which he proposed in Oct. 2023. It is a beautiful and underrated venue in the Indy area! The gardens are gorgeous and the home itself is a beautiful backdrop for any event, wedding, shower, etc. A big plus is the Riley Home comes with tables, chairs, speakers, microphone, coolers and indoor backup for events plus they do the set up and tear down of their own supplies. Amanda is awesome to work with and was so helpful leading up to our rehearsal. She was quick to respond to messages and answer our questions. When it started to rain in the middle of dinner, she quickly adapted and helped us move all our decor and supplies inside for the remainder of the evening. Not to mention, the Home is a staple for the Lockerbie Square neighborhood in hosting several neighborhood events. My husband and I greatly appreciate this as we live in Lockerbie. In summary, the Home is an amazing place for events and a true hidden gem in Indy! We couldn't recommend this place enough.

Not a long visit here but I did stay downtown just to get the chance to see and experience the architectural beauty. Surrounded by restaurants and coffee shops fits my liking. Unfortunately there is construction work going on during this review. But you can still experience this master peace. At night they play Taps to honor the fallen. For years I had dreamed of having my wedding reception at the Indianapolis Art Center, and working with Mason and her team was a dream come true. My husband and I toured the facility 15 months before our big day and highly recommend approximately that time frame for a place as popular as this. The IAC referred us to our caterer, and set up our reception seating with tables and linens. Additionally, they took care of tear down after we made our exit.
Our guests enjoyed cocktail hour under the portico while we headed to the river for our family pictures. The pergola and Ivy wall were a gorgeous backdrop for our sweet heart table and most breath taking of all were all the hanging string lights. I could not imagine a better setting for an outdoor wedding. Beyond that, we booked the library as a place inside to escape just the two of us for our last dance. Magic.

What’s not to love about the Indianapolis Zoo?
Having a membership for two years now, my family has fully experienced all the finest parts of the zoo over and over again.
The membership pays for itself after only two visits a year, and we’ve gone at least 10-12 times each year. From ZooBoo to Christmas at the Zoo are the iconic ones, but the times during the weekdays when there are no field trips or herds of children are the best for my part-time home wife.
My daughter has fed giraffes, pet kangaroos, had her face painted and ate Dippin’ Dots on her birthday, rode the train, watched dolphins splash her, gave high-fives at the plexiglass at the orangutangs, smelled flowers, asked why Flamingos are pink, and almost has a visual map in her head of the entire park.
Have I mentioned she just turned three years old?
My son is 9 months old, and he’s had a handful of times already at the zoo, and the amount of experiences the zoo has provided has sustained into our home with imagination zookeeping, making animal noises, reading out of picturebooks her favorite zoo animals, and instead of “Old MacDonald had a farm” it is now “Old MacDonald had a zoo!”.
As a former educator for 15 years, I have witnessed students who have had experiences outside of the home greatly enrich their education and their overall social capital. Having my daughter exposed to so much of the world in the middle of the heartland of Indiana, through the Indianapolis Zoo, I know that she will find her passions in helping conserve and create a better world for the next generations with the education she’s learning here. I am inspired to continue inviting her into these spaces, and I look forward to seeing the wanderlust my son will have for these escapades to the jungle and prairie and everywhere in the park.
If I could give 10 Google reviews with 5-stars, I would give so much emphasis on how essential it is to get a membership, show up and provide the story of the Indianapolis Zoo to embed into your children, and watch them become fuller with each visit.

What a great experience, went during the week, less crowded. It was our first time at the zoo. It was gorgeous. I loved all the places that you can and just sit and observe the animals. We took the kids to the Indianapolis Zoo during a weekend trip, and it was a great time all around. The place is huge — you could easily spend half a day wandering around without realizing it. We saw all the big hitters: elephants, giraffes, kangaroos, and a bunch of others that I’m pretty sure my kids renamed halfway through (“Look, it’s a long-necked horse!”).
We splurged on feeding the giraffes and flamingos, and it was totally worth it — the kids were thrilled, and we got some great photos out of it. We also took them on the little rollercoaster, which they absolutely loved (and which gave us a much-needed break from walking).
The dolphin show was definitely the highlight — entertaining, well done, and a nice break from all the walking. The zoo was packed since the weather was perfect and they were handing out candy to kids dressed up for Halloween, so it had a fun, festive vibe (and a sugar-fueled chaos energy).
We grabbed some food from one of the stalls expecting the usual overpriced “theme park” meal, but honestly? It wasn’t bad at all. The fries, chicken tenders, and nachos actually hit the spot — maybe we were just starving, but still, solid effort.
All in all, 4 stars — great experience, awesome for families, and bonus points for not charging $20 for fries. Just be ready for crowds if you go on a nice day!

I've been to a handful of zoos in my life. The Indianapolis Zoo is my favorite that I've been to. The layout made for a wonderful experience as we moved from one exhibit to another. I also think the gardens and foliage planted along all the exhibits really added to it.
We went on a Wednesday in the middle of August. Crowds were light which made for an easy viewing of all exhibits. All the animals were active. Watched the cheetahs chase each other around. Then we were lucky to see them get feed raw meat by the zoo keepers. The dolphin show was fun. The tropical bird and butterfly enclosures were awesome to walk through.
I'd highly recommend making this zoo a destination if you visit Indianapolis.

Great reception from the person at the desk. I will say it was hotter than I expected. The structure is well done, there’s a small trail that takes you all throughout the conservancy. Great spot for photos, and a fun spot for a chill date, and more importantly, to wind down.

The saddle barn was amazing. However, we stayed after to hike around and found the map given to be less than useful due to the trails themselves are poorly marked. I also was not a fan you frequently could see another trail making the trails to feel a bit crowded together.

Great park! I can't believe I waited so long to visit. I went for my New Years Day hike. I was disappointed that there were employees at the gate in New Years it being a holiday and all. I was even more disappointed when she asked for the gate fee and it was 1$ more than the other Indiana State Parks!!! I honestly should say I was appalled. Overall I was impressed. There is a playground with an in grounds slide. The restrooms were very clean and all of the stalls had toilet paper. I walked the 4 mile trail. It was a bit challenging and I found the way the trail winds in and out of the hills interesting. I drove all the roads and found the old barracks and horse stalls. I also drove past picnic areas. The picnic areas had me think about the hot summers we get and how there aren't many trees around for shade. I'd like to go back and hike this park more but unfortunately I think the open hours will conflict with my schedule.

This is a place that I have only seen on the outside during the Irvington ghost tour. I recently had the chance to actually visit the inside. What a beautiful building! Located in beautiful historic Irvington you can find the Irvington historical society, located in the Bona Thompson center. The building was actually a part of the original Butler University.
It’s large and historic, and I think they have kept a lot of the original building in tact.
On the inside there are a lot of interesting exhibits, one is on military tattoos which show a lot of pictures of different people with tattoos and the meanings behind them. As well as a lot of older camera parts.
There’s also some vintage Butler items on display as well.
In the basement holds some other displays as well, one on tractors and engines and then one on the angels of west baden springs. All very interesting things! It’s worth a visit to check out and lean different things about local and state history!

The museum is very nice and every piece has been selected to tell a complete story of the high school along with the history of Indiana and pieces of African American history. Very nice little museum that starts off highlighting the high school, Crispus Attucks, that the museum is physically attached to, it's history and its namesake. But the exhibits go far beyond Indianapolis and its history and does a fine job of expanding to a more complete history including features on the Tuskegee Airmen, accomplishments by african americans and deep into African history. Curator Robert L. Chester is knowledgeable, approachable and kind mannered. Definitely worth stopping by for anyone whether they live her or are just passing through.

We came to Indianapolis to take care of business. Since we had traveled from North Carolina we wanted to see some sights. The Internet led us to the Crispus Attucks Museum and school. What a deeply moving experience. It is the epitome of what other like institutions are trying to achieve. We liked everything about it. Had a fun time on the last day the fair was open this year. I didn't realize until this year i could get alcoholic drinks! Shower my i.d. one time and got a bracelet so I didn't have to show it again. You could buy as many as you wanted although I only had went in twice. They also have wheelchairs to rent for 25$ for the whole day which is nice because my elderly mother can't walk that far for very long. We enjoy shopping in the tents and getting out the food. My mom got an apple dumpling and ice cream she loved it. I found cheese curds which I was really suprised by never expected to get them at a fair. They were very good but they were 17$ for a cup, which was about a large size of curds I'd say from anywhere else. They had wood carvings which were pretty cool and very cute. We also got bobble heads made of ourselves for free from state farms tent. Which was awesome! I would definitely go to the fair again. Also parking is 10$ but it wasn't too far from the gate and we came later in the day. Also had to have my purse checked. I will definitely be returning and I recommend you try it as well ❤️

We came for a venue not the fair. My take away was that this place was busy this day. Parking was a mess. If you park on site they will charge you, then you will probably pay a venue entrance fee. They do offer pretty neat events like the gun show, Christmas shows, hockey events et. But be prepared to walk for anything you come here for. If you are in decent shape it's probably not a huge deal but for those overweight or aged or invalid this might not be the place for you.

The fair grounds hold lots of events. Obviously first and foremost is the state fair. But they also hold some other events too like the Oddities and Curiosities showcase and a drive through Christmas light show. I can't say I've ever seen the grandstands used. Maybe it's for some of the concerts held there... But all of the events are well staffed and crowds are handled well. The fair grounds are nice, clean and well maintained. My only negative is that having to walk a circle around a giant parking lot can get a little boring and hot. The area has a lot of asphalt. Some more trees around the area or teardown of unused concrete/asphalt could go a long way. They do have a tractor shuttle during fair days to help alleviate some of the walking though.

I went for the Christmas gift and hobby show. I was with my friend who has a handicap placard. Most of the handicap spots were full. This is a beautiful spot to sit in downtown Indianapolis, maybe have a picnic. We just went here for the 4th of July celebrations. It was the best view of the fireworks that we've ever had. There was also plenty of space. We got there after 9:00 p.m. and we're easily able to find a spot. I’ve been to downtown Indy twice while visiting Indianapolis. It’s such a lively place to be. It’s open till late night on weekends (not sure about weekdays) with a variety of shops all around. Very well lit too. There’s a Soldiers and Sailors monument in the center, a very tall tower of historic importance, which is surrounded by clean and beautiful waterfalls. There are lit up ball shaped horse carriages that move around the monument. Very picturesque and romantic. A must visit if you’re in town.

First off I want to start by saying I LOVE Downtown Indy. However the state of the city with its homless situation is absolutely CRAZY and past out of control. I work Downtown and had plans on moving here but now it feels very unsafe. Some of the experiences and things I've seen is jaw dropping, scary and sad at the same time. To watch the authorities completely ignore the blatant law breaking and harassment of people is unbelievable. If I was asked what rating I gave this city a year ago, I would've quickly said 5 stars without having to think about it. I pray that next year things get better for our beautiful city.

I absolutely loved this place! I was truly impressed with the amenities such as a ice machine that also dispensed water (so I could fill my water bottle), really nice grounds to hang out on and a nice breakfast selection.
Everything was extremely clean and in great shape and the bed was very comfortable. It has all of the charm of a historic building while also being modern in the appropriate ways (such as wifi and a TV!)

It's not spacious, but if you enjoy plants and colorful life in any capacity (since you're visiting Newfields, I assume you are), it's 100% worth the detour. Our family had a fantastic time observing the 4/8 total eclipse ! The sun and the moon played their parts flawlessly but the experience was so enjoyable because of the Holcomb Observatory staff.

The women's room has a large stall and a (almost unusably) tiny stall, as well as a diaper changing table. It would be better to make this a single-user restroom open to any person. The sign on the outside of the women's restroom and the men's indicates there's an all-bodies restroom as well, but it is located down a set of uneven stairs and behind an almost unmarked door.

Then we went to a first Friday event at The Tube and fell in love.
