When you enter they have a small cafe area to eat as well as a pay what you can option for those who may not be able to afford nearby restaurants or forgot to pack a lunch. The lower floor is for small children with a few play houses, water table type room and nursing space. The upper floors are better for older children, with the rooftop having some live animals like chicken, reptiles and fish. Outside is a massive playground with labels indicating what level of climbing experience is needed to navigate. Overall, most kids can explore the majority of it. We drove into Madison expecting a quiet Sunday visit when we discovered "Taste of Madison" street festival was in full swing. I was glad to see the "People's House" open to the public so my wife and I availed ourselves to it's majesty. Beautiful rotunda, expansive staircases and hallways, the sun shone though the portals and down upon us all. (Wisely, most bathrooms within were closed. Unfortunately so was the Observation Deck) The grounds outside were well groomed and enjoyed by hundred of folks who had set up lawn chairs to enjoy the fest. They broke my door and everything trying to get in so if you’re going to park in that area, be careful.
