This is some of the best food I’ve not only had in Kansas City but some of the best tacos I’ve ever had, even better than Austin street tacos. The tamale literally brought tears to my eyes. It definitely delivered. Delicious Food and Amazing Guacamole. Restaurant is a decent size and our server was wonderful. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and amazing. The tacos were stuffed with ground beef and ton of shredded cheese on top. I would bring people here anytime they visit. But today was terrible. I ordered 6 tacos with shredded beef. Easy enough, my family ordered their food. Waiting over 10 minutes they then come out to let me know they don’t have any shredded beef, all out, but brought the rest of the table’s food out. They suggested a different meat, I said I’ll do 2 tacos to see how they are before I order the rest. They brought out 2, and they were kind of bland. But it wasn’t the worst and I was very hungry. I was going to go ahead and get the rest of my order made, but they never asked about it. Never asked if I liked them, just brought out the check and that’s it. My brother ordered chicken fajitas, said the chicken was dry, bland, and rubbery. And something burned the inside of his mouth and now it hurts constantly. Honestly disappointed. I use to always say they were the best in the whole city, but now I definitely won’t say that again. They did not care about us, just our money. If they cared, they would have said something before bringing out the meals at the table. I left still hungry, so no, I can’t and won’t recommend this place anymore. I also wanted to mention that while this place mainly serves Mexican style food, it isn't Mexican themed. It also adopts a more modern stance, being served on metalic serving ware and up to date ceramics. While I like the look, older Mexican restaurants definitely have a certain energy this joint lacks. KC Taco is a can’t miss stop if you are in KC. Simple overview. Stopped in the early afternoon. It was quiet in the restaurant but I was quickly greeted and sat in the bar area. My server was friendly and recommended several options. I went with the Birria tacos and Street corn. The birria tacos were superb. The meat was so tender and there wasn’t any of those mystery gristle nuggets of fat that are often found in the meat. The shell was perfectly crisp and the consommé for dipping was good enough to drink. The street corn was also excellent. Perfect balance of each topping and was delivered at the right temperature. Extra napkins required!! I’ll stop here again when traveling through KC. It’s a few notches above the typical taco place and the pricing is very reasonable.

Important distinction that they only refunded the subtotal, because the shipping charge was not flat-rate (would've been $5 as opposed to the $12 they charged me for the order of 3 sauces). The outstanding balance paid was $17 for a SINGLE bottle of BBQ sauce priced at $5. I'm not paying more than triple the list price just because I live out of state, that would be ridiculous. After I received the partial refund notice, I emailed them almost immediately to let them know that if they were only able to fulfill 1 of my 3 sauces, it'd be my preference to cancel the order entirely. No response there, and after a few days I called their phone number a few times to say the same, and only reached a voicemail. A few days after that, I received notice that the partial order (that I no longer wanted), had shipped, and it finally turned up today. Goodie for them, they went 1/3 on the sauces I ordered, at least they didn't mess that up too. Maybe go if you're a local, but be forewarned - customer service does not exist for their online business.

Service was quick and I was super excited to see they had grilled pineapple to add to the tacos. 3 tacos for $8, that has got to be cheapest in town! I just inhaled them, they are SO GOOD! I will definitely be back. Main downside about this place is they don’t have a parking lot but there is lots of street parking. This will definitely be a regular spot for me to grab lunch! Quick, cheap, and amazing food! For reference, I am very picky about Mexican food so this was probably some of the best I’ve had in KC.

But at the Brookside location we got sat quickly and enjoyed an outdoor brunch on the patio. I will say this location has a much different vibe than the other simply because the inside is much smaller so you're limited to sitting outside. I'm not positive how they keep it comfortable in winter months but on a nice day it's great. I had the shrimp tacos and my partner had the steak tacos. We both thought everything was fresh and tasty! The chips were a bit stale so that was a downside but aside from that the rest of our drinks and food were accurate and fresh. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had a baby girl with us during this visit and the server made sure we had what we needed if anything for her! The servers at this location are much quicker to turn tables over and sanitize surfaces to allow for guests to have a safe and comfortable experience so I appreciate that a lot! There is street parking for this restaurant, the entrance is on ground level, and the restrooms are accessible. They had tables spread out well for the pandemic and they were all wearing masks, properly.
