It can be busy at times depending on when you go out or come in. We were in the water within 10 minutes of showing up and we were able to park close. They have parking at the launch area, across the street and an over flow area in the field next to the main parking area. We were able to take the boat from there to a dockside restaurant where we were able to pull the boat up to the dock, go inside, eat lunch and get a drink. There is also a nice sand bar in the area where we were able to stop and swim for a while. The only issue we had was getting out. Between the people that were just getting there and the people leaving it got packed. Everyone trying to leave was blocked by someone trying to pull into the line to get their bout out of the water. Personally I think they have enough space to add an exit only for people leaving. It was my daughter and that I ended up going out on our cousins boat and it was amazing. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!

We chose kayaking through the mangrove tunnels which ended up being roughly 2 hours by the time we got back to our car, but it didn't feel like it. They keep the tour groups small and limit them to no more than 12 or so people, which makes sense so you can hear the guide and their extensive wildlife knowledge. Erin, our guide, was incredible. She let us have a few stretches of silence to just relax and enjoy nature, it was so quiet and peaceful. But the rest of the time she was telling us about the osprey we saw, the biodiversity living in the lagoon, how the different mangrove trees process the salt in the water. Unfortunately the manatees etc. weren't that active when we went out, but she was able to find a few by the docks of some houses because she knew exactly where to look. She did bring extra cold waters, sunscreen and bug spray in case we needed it. I might just apply bug spray next time to not have to worry about it, though not sure if it was the time of day or season but there were only a few mosquitoes bothering us. We had an amazing time and the only thing that could have made it better was seeing more animals, which, obviously, no one can control. 11/10 stars.

There is no fee to park, or to use the launch. The park has at least 8 parking spaces for regular cars/trucks, about 4 or 5 long parking spaces for vehicles with trailers, and we frequently see vehicles with trailers parking on the grass, when necessary. We got there at about 10am on a Saturday and there was still plenty of regular parking, and 2 trailer spots still open. The park has a playground and *usually* has bathroom with running water, but this time they were closed. There were three port-o-potties, instead. There are two paved boat launches, and - if you go from the parking lot past the restrooms - there is a launch for kayaks and canoes that is unpaved (gentle on the boats). The mangroves by this park are so much fun! If you're new to kayaking (or mangroves) there's a paddling trail that is well marked by white posts, which takes all the worry out of getting turned around in the trees. There are plenty of tunnels to keep you busy for hours, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND either staying on the marked trail, or bringing a phone/GPS to help you navigate back to the launch. It's really easy to get turned around. The tunnels are (obviously) shaded, but there are large patches of open water, so bring sun protection. We went in late December and the weather was PERFECT. The only downside (which has never happened to us before) was that - due to a cold snap a few days prior - there were a lot of dead fish throughout the mangroves. So...a little gross and smelly. Usually there are NOT a bunch of dead fish, so if there hasn't been a cold snap in the past week you'll be fine. On past trips we've seen dolphins and a bunch of brazen manatees. We didn't see either this time around, but we did see a ton of birds, mainly seagulls and pelicans. This really is a lovely area. If you're visiting from out of town you should check out La Catrina Mexican Restaurant a few miles north of the park. Everything is delicious, but my personal favorite is the Pollo Magarita! She was a very good instructor and took me from complete gear set up, safety systems and kite flying, all the way up to my first ride! She is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable and patient. They have even let me try out some different gear to see what works better in certain wind conditions. Since taking my lessons I’ve bought a used foil and a used twin tip both had great prices and helped get me into the sport at a much more reasonable price. They have also helped me get linked into the kite community over at the 520 slick which is very helpful because as a beginner it helps to know people that can help when you make a mistake or need help launching or landing your kite or even just having people to ride with so that your not out alone. I highly recommend 321 for lessons if your Looking to get into kiteboarding or needing some new gear!
