Jeep/Bench/Skyline trail are interconnected, and the system links via a few early cutoffs to the famed Mt. Marathon race trail. We took the Jeep route instead of the racing route, as recommended by locals for safety. The trail starts off VERY steep with some loose rock, and then it turns into a nice pine bed trail. We took bear spray with us as we didn't see one person the whole time we were hiking. There is a cute waterfall along the way. To get to the end of the jeep trail, once you come out of the trees, only take maybe an hour even with stops. Then you can continue on a single-trek overgrown trail (bench trail). Definitely would have been better if there were no clouds so we could continue up and see the views. You only need an hour to get to the end of Jeep Trail, but look at reviews from clear days if you're going to the top!

Kayaking has always been a favorite excursion of ours whenever we travel and this trip was no exception. Our tour guides Drew and Maggie were fantastic and by kayaking it really allowed us to feel immersed in the beautiful Alaska scenery. Fox Island is a beautiful location that not many people get to visit so we felt special for having the opportunity to explore it's coasts. We saw harbor porpoise and even a puffin! Our only critique was the Resurrection Bay tour on the back half of the day. It was a bit too family friendly for the adventurous day we were looking to have. We would have much rather just have been brought straight back to Seward post kayaking, but not sure if that would be logistically possible. That said, they kayaking portion still made the whole day worth it.

It was one of the most adventurous, scenic & adrenaline junky activities I've ever done! The views were insane the entire time. It was a steep hike but totally worth it. They were all really helpful with getting our gear on and making sure we were well prepared. After a strenuous hike up to marmot meadows, we went down a mountaineering trail and prepared to step onto the ice. It was my first time using crampons and the guides gave us a good mini-lesson! It was nerve wracking lowering yourself into the crevasses, but the guides were super helpful and communicative the whole time. Everyone got multiple chances to climb at two different locations. We then did a short hike to check out some cool features, filled up our bottles with meltwater directly from the glacier, and then returned to land. Everything from the transportation to sightseeing and kayaking was an incredible experience. Kelli of Adventure 60 North made it super fun and informative. The water taxi ride was fun and we saw some porpoises, whales, and starfish along the way. This trip was awesome. We got lucky and had perfect weather so that made it even better. Steve (evening Steve) was out captain and his knowledge was amazing. I'm not a history person but hearing all the facts he had made the trip that much better. The weather cooperated with only a few sprinkles. He was so informative & fun to be with. We saw lots of Salmon swimming upstream. From the wildlife you'll see, to the incredible views of building-size icebergs, glacier shelfs and ice fields - the Grand View Tour from Seward Helicopter Tours is one of the only ways you can experience Kenai Fjords up close. We optioned to do a Glacier Landing on Calypso Glacier and we were not disappointed with that decision. This Glacier is high up in the mountains and certainly only accessible by air, so we were blown away when we landed and stepped out at the view. After leaving the glacier, we circled icebergs the size of buildings (note the other helicopter hovering above the iceberg in my photo for size comparison), flew in front the Bear Glacier ice shelf, up and over the massive ice field leading to it and then carved through canyons seeing numerous waterfalls, rivers and wildlife (we saw sheep, seals and plenty of hikers). The pilots are extremely knowledge, safe and professional. We had a group of six, so we were split between two helicopters of 3 + pilot. So everyone gets an incredible view! The pilots do a fantastic job of combining narration with wildlife spotting. A word of caution, having done a few other helicopter tours in the past (in Hawaii and elsewhere) this one was definitely on the more "sporty" side in terms of maneuvering. You're not flying high above the canyons, your carving through them getting a view only the birds get to experience. It's unlike anything I've experienced, but if you're prone to motion sickness, you will likely want to take precautionary measures ahead of time. Don't let that put you off though, I have a hard time imagining any helicopter tour out there can top this experience. You won't regret it!
