We visit Plymouth every year and go to the stable every time as a safe place for me to eat! The pizza is always so good and they also have vegan cheese too if you want it! They served my pizza with a different colour pizza slicer so it’s clear mine is gluten free! Not sure if this restaurant is celiac safe, but definitely have gluten free/ lactose free and vegetarian/ vegan options! Call ahead if you have any concerns, the staff were really helpful and knowledgable! The only down side is that the gluten free pizza is smaller than a gluten base pizza, but the same price which is a shame - but still pleased they don’t charge extra for gluten free like a lot of places do. There was quite a long wait on food, but it is delicious when it arrives! You can also order some starters which came out quickly which is what we did whilst we waited for the mains! We had a wonderful time at Boston Tea Party in Plymouth, as an adult and child duo. Everything is designed to make the experience easy and enjoyable, even for tourists who don’t speak much English. The lady behind the counter could not have been any less friendly, I know we had a big order however that shouldn't have warranted us such poor treatment. First of all I thought it was a little bit strange that there was no hot chocolate even though there was jar of chocolate powder behind the server. We tried to make conversation but whenever we did we were met with snide remarks and snide looks. We ordered two matchas which were not prepared to a standard they warrants them costing £5, they were gray and clumpy and didn't taste anything like matcha. We also noticed that the coffee basket was not cleaned in between coffees which made the coffee taste bad. we felt as if we were an inconvenience to the server which is ridiculous because if anything you want to attract customers and not push them away, especially when they are placing a big order. I would like to say the pastries however did taste amazing, like they always do, it's just a shame that the lady behind the counter had to dampen our experience with her bad attitude. Honestly I was very disappointed after hyping this place up to everyone.

The Vegan Breakfast is still quite nice and their drinks are still made well. Unfortunately, some things are not as good as they were before. For example, they used to have a great variety of vegan options and now it seems rather limited in some areas. Sorry so late in posting. We were lucky enough to book in for the second ‘late bird’ before Christmas. We were too late to get into the first ‘late bird’ - and now I know why! I have nothing but praise for the whole evening. Greeted so warmly by the lovely staff who served an amazing cocktail as we sat down. We had a sharing platter to start - I can’t actually tell you which of the five or so choices were the best! This was followed by the best duck dish I’ve ever tasted! The roast came out and the next minute of my life was filled with wonder and excitement I have not felt since I was a child at the circus. The pork was put down in front of me on one plate with some super crispy potatoes, a Yorkshire pud and a puree that had the sweetness of parsnip. Then the carrots are put in front of me on their own plate. The greens on a different plate. The cauliflower cheese on another one. A dipping bowl of apple compote. And a gravy jug. Plus the plate with my croquettes. It was like a clown car. A seemingly endless supply of food coming off my waitress’ tray. It was such an impressive display that a table of 4 sitting near me outside decided to order food after seeing it all. This place is good and I have the completely burned mouth to prove it. They warned me it was hot, but I could not help myself. The pork is tender, well seasoned and the crackling might be worth your first born child (go on, you’ve got spares). Every single side was worthy on its own. And the croquettes were a dalliance of textures and flavours. The staff were friendly and helpful even though it was very busy and through the card machine not working outside. ————— I am back for a second go, to test the waters and see if this place was a one hit wonder or their sophomore album is just as good. But I am here on a normal day. Not on Sunday roast. Now the quandary. Do I get a burger, or the pork belly. On one hand I can get a burger anywhere, and pork belly is less frequent so the overall enjoyment of my life might be enhanced. On the other hand the pork roast was so good it feels inevitable that the pork belly will pale in comparison. I decided on the three course meal, of which the burger was not an option. Course 1 - Humus & chorizo. There is a nice citrus kick in the hummus that cuts through the richness of the hummus and chorizo. It was texturally a bit grittier than I had hoped but we’re grasping at straws here. The flavour was very good. Course 2 - Pork belly. The pork belly was a bit under rendered. It was lovely. But no comparison to the Sunday roast. That was perfectly rendered. With crackling. The regular lunch, was crackle-lacking. It was well seasoned and enjoyable but I find myself scrolling through the photos of the Sunday roast like a hot ex-girlfriend. Thinking of what could have been. That being said, the chips and sauce that come with lunch, far exceed the potatoes from the roast. Course 3 - Brownie. The size was disappointing but the fastest way to turn that around is with taste and this did not disappoint. The brownie was soft, warm and fudgy. The quail egg scoop of ice cream atop it allowed a creamy texture to fill each bite after the supplied jug of sauce is applied. For what might be the first time, in a long time, I have no idea what the sauce is. There is a caramelised toffee taste and some grit within that tastes of caramelized sugar. If I had to describe it in 3 words - sticky toffee chocolate. As a final note, CHECK YOUR BILL. I did not, and upon reflection a 3 course meal was £26 with all tap beer half off, I had 3. Even if each beer was £8 that puts my total at £38. I added 20% tip cause the waiter was very attentive. We’re now just over £45. But my bill was £55… I’m not saying they ripped me off or there was a mistake, but if not the beer was very expensive.

This was based on previous experiences and recent recommendations from friends and family. I can whole heartedly say that i will not be returning anytime soon for food. My partner and I both ordered doorstep sandwiches. I had a roast beef, horseradish and fried onion sandwich, whilst my partner had a belly pork, apple sauce and pork crackling sandwich. My beef was chewy, horseradish was non existent and the onions look like chipped off burnt bits from the bottom of an oven. My partners sandwich was just as underwhelming. The pork was chewy, to the point that she even struggled to cut it with a knife and fork. We both have our own teeth, but they were no match for the tough armour plated meat that we were served. Her apple sauce was non existent as was the pork crackling. I was tempted to buy a bag of scratchings from behind the bar and scatter a few on to her plate, to give a sense of porky, fatty, crunchy goodness. To the credit of the staff, they did offer a full refund on the meal, which we graciously accepted. It turns out that they have a new chef in the kitchen. Clearly this culinary ape needs to brush up on their skills and perhaps retreat into the sunset, so that someone more deserving can restore order to this once fantastic food location. Cracking pint of Guinness though. Please don't go here for food, if you value your teeth and desire to feel that you have received good value for your money. We each had a lovely themed afternoon tea. The food was delicious and the detail to match the theme such as the mini cauldrons on the wizard one and the dinosaurs on the dinosaur plate each holding cucumber and chocolate fingers were a great touch, as we're the shaped sandwiches. On entering, I was greeted by a member of staff welcoming me and my friends and shown to a table. The butter in the potato made the box disintegrate and I ended up with butter all over my lap. It just tasted awful? Soggy and unappetising. I can’t believe I spent £16 on something I could have made way nicer at home for a fraction of the price?! This place has honestly gone majorly downhill, I used to rave about it all the time but now I’ll be telling everyone to AVOID at all costs. We had a surprise wedding masked as an ‘engagement party’ so we needed the venue to get on board to help us pull off a big event. This time our group was of three as opposed to our usual two, admittedly, I had made a mistake in booking and only booked the two. Worth noting this was after trying to book in the bar and being told you can only book through the website. Is this by any means more convenient for the customer; is this just less of a ballache for the staff? I can only theorize. Having accepted my mistake I asked if there was anything we could do? The restaurant area was roughly 30% full. We were told very brutally ‘no’. Customer service is a brilliant trade and one I fully value having worked in it for many years myself, I do not value rudeness nor the lack of empathy required to find any sort of resolution. This is only the beginning. Staff in this BrewDog are normally very friendly, with one very clear exception, no surprise the one refusing to resolve the situation. We were in fact informed we could under no circumstances share any of our two wings we were permitted even after buying another full price meal, this I will get onto in a minute. For any reader I question: have you ever been out with your partner or friends and wanted them to try a taste of your food or vice versa? At this point we were rather hungry and waiting for the waiter to take our order. And waiting. No waiter. We had to walk up to the bar to order the food including one £15 burger, with no chips. After only a 45 minute wait the food arrived. When we asked for chips upon the burgers arrival it was only a further 45 minutes until they arrived alongside two of ours second portion of wings. The burger was long gone by this point, out of hunger certainly not enjoyment. The wings were okay. The next round I opted for cauliflower wings. I find this easier to describe as battered dough that may have seen a cauliflower at some point in its life. Don’t worry the dissapointment doesn’t stop. All the wings are paired with a sauce. This was not seen after the first portion. Instead replaced with a large portion of some vomit-like lemony substance underneath one of the wings. Frankly repulsive, I struggled to stomach this. Our final round saw a complimentary blonde beard hair in one of the wings. Not sure if this is their way of making up for the lack of sauce or just shocking. One bonus I didn’t pay for the chips. This was not their initiative but mine. If they would like to create an issue with this I’m happy for a chat about the whole experience. As the staff were too rushed off their feet for a chat at the time with the 4 tables they had. My gosh I don’t envy such a tough shift for 7 people (!) Worth adding on to the end here majority of the staff, again with one major exception, are absolutely lovely and great bartenders. This experience was really not a great show of their skill. As always the beer was thoroughly enjoyable and reasonably priced. I will not be coming back for food.

We were invited in as we were looking at the signage on the door. It had a classic american dinner feel and the staff were really friendly. We ordered drinks, they came within 5 minutes and tasted amazing compared to most places I've been for coffee. (Caramel cappuccino) absolutely smashed that one. Took 15 minutes for our order to be taken and drinks then arrived within 5-10 minutes which was fine. However after 45 minutes of waiting for food it still hadn’t been cooked, we were then informed that our food would be next. 20 minutes later the table next to us received their food. The egg looked like it had been left on the griddle for about 20minutes as the bottom of it was black & crispy and the texture was like eating a rubber. The food overall was very poor and not worth the 1hr 25 minute wait never mind the price. If there is a long wait on food this should be explained on arrival. We also noticed that what I can only describe as a homeless person walking around the kitchen as there was a man walking around the kitchen in his pyjamas which isn’t professional. Unfortunately I won’t be returning which is disappointing as at first I thought it had real potential.
