The hotel pays homage to the local McKinney Ave Trolley (The M Line Trolley)..... do yourself a favor, take an hour out of your stay early and ride the loop of the M Line Trolley, it's free to ride, I think expected donation is $3.... i gave $10... steps away from the hotel entrance (literally the end of the street) it will take you through a loop of uptown so you can really see the neighborhood and jumping off and on is convenient (just ring the buzzer) get off and explore the parks, restaurants and arts district.... one of the stops is right in front of a Trolley Stop Cafe, didn't have a chance to check it out. They run about every 20 minutes, just jump back on to go back to the hotel. There's more I could add, it's nice to see the attention to detail that the Canopy by Hilton provides to make even a first time guest feel at home.

There wasn’t too many people at the front desk at all times, but I always found someone to help. Stacey (the valet driver), Rosy and Logan were all wonderful! They helped with all of the questions I had and informed me about the accommodations that I had no clue about. Rooms were clean and spacious. There was also cleaning that was done when I was out for the day, with fresh towels and bedding. I tried going to the inside bar and waited for 20mins, but was never served so not sure how that part of the hotel is. But I was able to check out the rooftop before checkout, unfortunately it was hot during the time I went and I didn’t get to see the nighttime views, but I still enjoyed the ambiance. It was very cute, chill and they played good music. I had the margarita flatbread and some wine and it was delicious. Service was quick and seamless. Jay and Leslie were cool and took care of me! We were traveling to Dallas to spend time with our son after he completed an internship in the city and before he returned to college in Tennessee. We are a "Hilton" family but had never before stayed at a Canopy property. We were blown away at the quality of the physical property but even more so by the staff who made our trip so memorable. We enjoyed cocktails in the downstairs bar with Chelsea a few nights while we were there. She is so pleasant to talk with and we always ended up in pleasant conversation with her and other folks at the bar. The bar gets quite busy, but she is able to handle the flow while still making you feel like you are her only customer. We were also impressed with Leslie and Jake at the rooftop bar when we stopped in with our son when he joined us for his last night in Dallas. The front desk staff were wonderful, too, although I didn't get anyone's names (sorry). Housekeeping was very pleasant and you didn't even know they were at work if you were in your room. Above all, we were so pleased to visit with Stacy the valet every time we came and went from the hotel. Bush Presidential Center! We visited on Memorial Day. There's a parking lot right across the street - parking was easy & cost $10.00 (if I'm not mistaking). Right on the campus of SMU, the center is beautifully surrounded. The center has a bunch of discounts for entry, I did not fit any of those criteria so my admission was $26. Everything was very informative & we enjoyed all of the interactive elements. I loved the decision-making simulator, it really puts things into perspective. I also loved getting to see all of the gifts that President George W. Bush received while in office. Seeing the oval-office remake was also a wonderful experience. There is an option to get your picture taken. I enjoyed seeing all of the 9/11 exhibits, always brings a tear to my eye - they did an incredible job with the exhibitions. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - very knowledge & ready to answer any questions! We had a wonderful experience!

It’s mostly a standard museum exhibit wise but there are a few things that really make it stand out. First, it has an in depth explanation of some of his more controversial policies such as No Child Left Behind and the Iraq War, as well as highlighting some of his major successes like PEPFAR and protecting over 3M acres of wetlands. Obviously there was a bit of a slant in terms of how things were presented but it was still informative in nature. Second, it has a replica of the Oval Office, you do have to pay for a photo op but I think it’s worth it. There is also a Rose Garden replica outside which is where George and Laura will be buried someday. Third, there is a piece of metal from the Twin Towers on display which you can actually touch. That whole section was emotionally moving, you got to hear him say his famous “and those people who knocked the towers down will hear from all of us very soon” quote while you are looking at the images of what happened that day. And fourth, I think the best part of the museum is the Decision Points theater, which is an interactive game you can play where you choose what to do during several key moments of the Bush administration. You get policy advice from “experts” and see breaking news before making a final decision, and then you get to see Bush explain why he did what he actually did. Since I was the only one in the theater, I got to pick all three scenarios I did, and my decision was the “final one” (normally if more people play it’s whatever the group collectively decides). The gift shop at the end has a couple of his books and a lot of baseball related souvenirs, as well as Bush/ Cheney campaign merchandise.
