There’s a slight, steady incline that I wasn’t fully prepared for, but it added a nice bit of challenge without being overwhelming. The trailhead map was hard to read, and I initially thought it was a short loop, but it actually continues onward up the mountain—so I eventually turned back. The views are beautiful, especially looking out toward downtown Santa Fe, and the mix of greenery and high desert landscape made the walk feel meditative. We entered the trail at marker 28. There was only one other car parked, so lots of parking. There was a sign warning, do not leave valuables in car because it is a high break-in area. The only reason I am not giving it less stars is because the landlords do work with you on it. Every time I complain, they get someone there within two days. The exterminator is really nice and worked with me. I plug my drains so they don't crawl up and keep my apartment spotless. I still see about one a night/day but it's nice to know I have the support of the complex. It's affordable living for how beautiful they are. This is just one huge draw back. You gotta weigh the pros and cons.
